Reviews for Check In Hostel Berlin

Review 1:- Room was really dirty, bedsheets smelled funny and got itches and red spots when I woke up - Showers rusty, not clean and almost no warm water (hence not appearing on the website pictures) - Toilettes not enough and no warm water during the evening - WiFi doesnt work at all on mobile, very unstable in the room and you need to log in with your FB and check "like" check-in hostel

Review 2:- Geographical situation : near city center and most of important places to visit

Review 3:The blankets and the pillows were too flaky, couldn't manage with them.At in night it was too hot and suffocating in the room.

Review 4:It was at a pretty good location surrounded by eateries and well connected to the rest of Berlin.Has a restaurant attached to it which serves really good burgers.Good showers and wash rooms.Spacious rooms.

Review 5:They didn't clean the room for two days and the rugs were dirty all along. The receptionist didn't allow me to check in early, but did allow it to other person so I don't understand this selective sympathy

Review 6:It's very cheap and common room is big

Review 7:Wi-fi is for free but difficult to connect and operate a relatively slow (apparently many users connecting at the same time). Lockers in the rooms with the ability to lock only with your padlock. Towel for an extra charge.

Review 8:An ideal place for one-night stay at the heart of Berlin. The hostel's staff is responsive and there is spacious lounges for relaxing.

Review 9:Close to metro station and main Berlin attraction (Brandeburg gate it's quite close also by walk!), clean, no noise and confortable. Reception open 24h it's a good thing. A good place for this cheap price.

Review 10:The shower is quite difficult to regulate, but once it's done it keeps good pressure and temperature.

Review 11:The location is very good, near to attractions, supermarkets, bakeries... The staff is friendly and helpful The luggage storage after check out is for free Easy to find the hostel. Good cost-benefit

Review 12:Hostel offers many suprises. For example, if you are a man, you can find a woman in men's bathroom. This is because lack of hot water in their bathroom so they are often visiting men's one. You have to be brave to spend more than one minute in the kitchen and keep you primary desire to eat anything. You should be quite clever to prepare and consume your meal, because there is only one type of plates and lack of glasses (you can forget about a soup). But... if you are an exhibitionist, that's the perfect place for you as their force you to liked their facebook-page everytime you want to use the wi-fi (if you are gettin online your facebook-followers always will know where to find you). In so called „recreation room for relax” wi-fi doesn't work at all. You can find better coffeemachine in the every metro station (and cleaner bathrooms probably, if there are any bathrooms). Light photocell effectivelly prevents You from having comfortable shower or cooking. Be prepared to meet school groups there even if it's written: „adults only”. Nowhere is mentioned that You schould pay 10 euro deposit (we were in two, get one key but had to pay 20 all together) Place is specially enjoyed by Spanish and Portuguesse people so expect lot of mess and noise around. There is no hangers in the room and not enough chairs (only one in eight bed dormitory room) so forget about winter clothes treated with respect (it is better to come there in summertime – ok, it is not good in any cases). They are expecting You will have your own padlock for the locker. Check in Hostel → check out!!!!

Review 13:At least there is some roof above Your head.

Review 14:-wifi not work well on friday and saturaday night, as full of guests...

Review 15:-city center and most museums are within walking distance. -with kitchen, but facilities are always not sufficient for the guests, especially many guests held the facilities in their room (plate, cup, knife...etc) for their own use...

Review 16:Somehow the guests of this hotel were especially messy so it was hard to enjoy use of common facilities like kitchen or bathroom. It's not also thought over how to make stay for guests more comfortable for instance there are no reading lights near each bed and in the shower no place where to leave your clothes.

Review 17:Half of the showers were only partially functional. The ones that did work were ok.

Review 18:The rooms were clean and didn't smell. The beds were decently comfortable.

Review 19:Kitchen is a mess, dishes are always covered with oils. The "smart-lights" always switch on and off automatically even when I am cooking in the kitchen or using the toilets.

Review 20:Good location, easy to meet new friends, the rent is cheap.

Review 21:Bathroom is not good, i guess they have a problem because it is always waterlogged, and after 00h00 they close the lobby and we cant make any noise.

Review 22:Staff really nice! well located, 5 minutes walking from the check point charlie and the subway. they got a very nice lobby!

Review 23:One guy from reception was super arrogante. We didn't get a key from our room, it was very uncomfortable to go every time to reception and ask to open a door.

Review 24:Perfect location, Lidl is in the same building. Checkpoint charlie - 3 min.

Review 25:Dirty carpets. Hair and food inside intersection part of the red couch in front of the reception. Bad smell in general (like Asiatic spices).

Review 26:Price, location and staff.

Review 27:The showers are not well built...water everywhere and hard to stay dry without stepping into a puddle. The carpets in corridor wet from leakage and fridges are overfilled. Could probably add some more considering the amount of people in the hostel. Only two toilets for a whole floor as well.

Review 28:The good location...close to public transport n restaurants. Lockers provided.

Review 29:Good facilities, everything was clean and orderly. Good people usually to be found, but the hostel doesn't really have a vibe itself. In a good part of town, very central, but not much to do in the area, many shops close by 9pm most nights

Review 30:Showers drained poorly so the floors where normally wet but not a big deal. One staff member was rude the rest where really good. Laundry device they offered sucked. Clothes came back smelling like they did before they where washed. Would not suggest getting them to do your laundry

Review 31:Good location about 5 to 10 min walk from transit. Cheap beer at sold right in the hostel but they only serve it until midnight. Really good common area with lots of couches and a football table. Storage room for bags that was available before and after your stay for free.

Review 32:The staff were incredibly unhelpful at night. I didn't get a room key, myself and a friend where placed in two different rooms, the shower flooded, there were two toilets for an entire floor. There were three showers for an entire floor.

Review 33:Liked that they had beds

Review 34:The common space is poor fot such quantity of people. The common kitchen was a little dirty (it was due to people staying here - but it is necessary, to clean it better!).

Review 35:Location - in the centre, near U-bahn and Lidl supermarket, at the quiet street without noisy traffic. Near pizzeria with good prices.

Review 36:Small rooms and some wall sockets in the room were not working which is a problem when you have 8 people and, of course, a lot of electronic devices to be charged.

Review 37:The staff is nice and helpful. The location is very good.

Review 38:Frequent cleaning was sometimes disturbing - especially when making a kitchen inaccessible for guests.

Review 39:Dormitory-like atmosphere makes this hostel perfect for a young traveller. Whether you'd like to make same friends or have some quiet place to sleep during your stay, you're going to like it. The kitchen is well equipped, the bathrooms just enough to have a relaxing shower after a day of sightseeing. Room was bright and comfortable, equipped with a locker big enough to store your basic luggage.

Review 40:Very bad bads, not possible to sleep. If a person above you makes a slight moove your bed shakes and you wake up.The kitchen is a mess. There are four fridges and it's all mess inside, you can hardly find a place for your food. One day you will have to search for it in all the fridges because the staff decides to orginise stuff there and may shift your food to another fridge. People don't wash their dishes after themselves, so in the morning you can find many of them dirty. The soap dispenser doesn't work properly in one of the ladies toilet, you have to ask the stuff how to make the soap come out and then exericising in that, after 4th of 5th try you might get your soap. Nobody bothered to replace it with a new one.The light in all areas such as the kitchen and the shower only works where there is a movement. So, if you are alone in the kitchen washing dishes or alone in the shower room taking shower in a few minuets you find yourself in the darkness. There are no plates or cups in the kitchen (there are afraid they would be stolen) and there is nothing to hold hot pans either. There are lockers in every room but for the lock you have to pay. Towels are not free as well. They are located on the 2nd and the 3rd floor. There is no lift. The TV in a common area has only a few channels in German but not even one channel in English. So, for the foreign guests the TV is useless. Some guests were smoking in their rooms. Some staff at the reseption is non-professional. After expressing your disagreement about demanding of the deposit which wasn't mentioned in the booking.com and refusal to leave the passport as a deposit they get lippy and talk to you in very familiar form (saying their didn't care about the booking.com, that it was mentioned at their website). If you argue with them they will start making fun of you, coping your gestures etc....

Review 41:The location is ok, but it still takes 30 mins to reach Alexanderplatz.

Review 42:Wifi only strong enough to use in communal area, you have to log in to facebook to be allowed to use the wifi, mixed showers, pictures look way nicer than actual hostel, 4-bed room is very small with not enough space for everyone to sit on the table, guy at reception pulled a face like a slapped dog when I arrived

Review 43:Good location

Review 44:The corner about the machines for drinks could be bigger. In the shower, there should be something to clean a little the shower after use.In the kitchen there could be more room.

Review 45:The dormitory was good. The staff was very kind and efficient.

Review 46:I hated the wifi!!!!!! you must put "like" to their page on facebook to get it, and it doesn't work well at all. The place is not well cared, specially the kitchen. The water in showers does not remain at the same temperature. People there is normally traveling in groups so it's had to meet people.

Review 47:The location is very good!!! The room was big! I think it's a good place for young travelers and backpack travelers, because it's cheap but the quality isn't good (take that in mind!!).

Review 48:The shared bathrooms could use some work - broken showers and locks on some of them.

Review 49:Amazing location, diner right next door with cheap food, nice rooms and comfy beds.

Review 50:The neighborhood is quite noisy at night, even though it may not look so. No AC/fans in the room.

Review 51:Very well located, just near Checkpoint Charlie and its U-bahn station (line U6) that takes you to the center in a few minutes. They speak portuguese (:D). Rooms are spacious, but hot. Bathrooms in the corridor are enough for the guests. Lidl and Superiberico supermarkets nearby. The provided map is very good.

Review 52:I do not have any facebook account, but this is the only way to login their free wifi. When I asked the staff if there were any solutions, he just told me that it was unfortunate. I didn't think that that staff was trying to help me.

Review 53:The kitchen isn't nice, and probably too small for the number of guests. People were generally less friendly, probably because it's a relatively large hostel. Wi-Fi access has to be done with a Facebook account and frequently requires check in.

Review 54:Free parking right outside the hostel. My room had an ensuite bathroom. There was a kitchen. Good bathrooms and shower rooms. Helpful staff.

Review 55:The hostel is not clean and tidy. The room is smelly and there are ants, beetles and other insects. The kitchen is terribly dirty and always in a mess. The motion sensor lights are too quick to turn off. You have too move frequently in great action to keep the lights on. Also, there is party every night behind the hostel. It is very noisy.

Review 56:The hostel is really near the Checkpoint Charlie. It is convenient. Also, this hostel is a little Spanish community. Nearly everyone comes from Spain. You would like it if you are also from Spain.

Review 57:The atmosphere is not like a common hostel but more like a school dorm or something. Maybe a summer camp has booked most of the hostel, so instead of meeting solo travelers, there's just teenage kids running around. Also the shared bathroom is quite narrow and has water on the floor all the time. And I don't really like that you have to connect to fb to get their wifi.

Review 58:Location is great, pretty easy to get everywhere, and close to a lot of city spots. Staffs are nice. Big room. Carpet floor.

Review 59:THEY DIDN'T HAVE HOT WATER FOR FOUR DAYS! Moreover, when I arrived they said that I'll have to move to another room for my last night there. But when I packed my things and came to reception to pick up the key of that new room, they said that I don't need to move and can stay in my room. Why couldn't they inform me about that in advance? Kitchen is very small an located on the 2nd floor (I lived on the 3rd). It was very hot in the room and there was no air conditioning.

Review 60:Location is pretty good, near legendary Checkpoint Charlie. The city centre is in 20 min walk. The nearest metro station is in 5 min walk. Supermarket Lidl is located in the same building. Lock for the locker can be rented at no cost.

Review 61:I came cross the heat wave in Europe. Ventilation in room was not nice so I had hard time to sleep because there's no fan nor air-conditioning. The hostel is next to a party ground, so two nights out of three nights of my stay, I slept with loud party music.

Review 62:Nice staff. Location is quite convenient.

Review 63:Staff cleaning in the morning; vacuum before 9am was loud, puddles of water always on the bathroom floor and this would be a popular time. Blocked shower drains. No elevator or offer from staff to help with my luggage. Not much info given upon check in about facilities of hostel or anything. Loud guests.

Review 64:Great central location, beside a supermarket, could walk everywhere. Comfortable bed but thicker pillow would be good. Lockers. Table and stools in each room. Nice hang out areas.

Review 65:Check in time was late at 15.00 Girls dorm was far from bathroom Luggage room was not safe kitchen was dirty no lift staff was not very friendly

Review 66:Location was great, near charlie checkpoint rooms were large enough for 6xfemale room sheets were clean room mates were nice and friendly metro station was very near Cheap, easy to find ok for a short stay

Review 67:The pots and pans in the kitchen were low quality and broken, not easy to cock nice food. There could also be some plates and mugs.

Review 68:Great comfort bed and nice helping personel, and good price.

Review 69:The hostel is dated and generaly dirty. Very few toilets and showers for so many rooms. Depending on which room you get you must walk all the way down the hall for the toilet. The hall smells, I guess it's the carpet, it is all stained. If your room faces the East side the sun will make it very hot in the morning. If there's a wedding being celebrated in the building below, don't expect the night to be quiet until very late. There was a noisy wedding going on every night we stayed... The kitchen is too small, smelly and normally dirty.

Review 70:Good location, only a five minute walk to Check-Point Charlie. The staff if ok. I guess the place is quite safe.

Review 71:fully crowded, bathrooms showers are always wet anytime you visit, worst bed i had it was terrible probably springs were too loose,

Review 72:kitchen facilities only

Review 73:The room I was had no curtains, 6am I had the sun in my face, apparently the guy on the reception was not really happy with his job, so he was not friendly at all. The next day I moved to another Hostel 500% better.

Review 74:The best of this hostel is the location, right on the check point charlie

Review 75:Kids are very noisy. Annoying wifi. Always need to register again and again.

Review 76:Quite convenient few minutes away metro station. bright and spacious room.

Review 77:The showers weren't hot a couple of days (two out of six). Possibly because I wasn't early enough for a shower?

Review 78:Almost everything! It's such a great location, value for money and very very clean!

Review 79:Unclear information on the English website made me believe they were available free of charge, which was not the case. Cold water in some showers.

Review 80:Low prices, friendly staff, location.

Review 81:I didn't like that I had to "like" the hostel's facebook page in order to get wi-fi access. Although, there was the option to proceed with just your e-mail. There was overall some noise, but you cannot avoid that in a hostel! If this is a problem for you, you should consider booking at a hotel.

Review 82:Location is great! Just a few minutes away from Checkpoint Charlie! You could walk around the city center easily. There are lockers in the rooms, so you are sure that your stuff will be protected. Good value for money. The price was about 10 euros per day.

Review 83:It was a bad suprise that a towel is not for free. Also it is hard to get hot water when there are a lot of people taking showers.

Review 84:I took 6 dorm bedroom, but enjoied a private room :)

Review 85:I didn't like only the internet, it was great - but every single time you need to sign up with Facebook, so I was worried about my privacy

Review 86:The location, the staff, the friendliness of the people and the guests, very cool place, easy to find, comfortable rooms! One of the best hostels I've ever been to!

Review 87:The showers were horrific! Either ice cold or scalding hot water or no water at all! Getting into the hostel was a real hassle, wasn't informed that there was a code and at one point the door broke and a gang of us were locked out in the cold for a good 20 mins ...

Review 88:Staff were friendly enough. Very handy location, although it wasn't the nicest looking area.

Review 89:The hot water for shower room is not stable, sometimes no hot water .

Review 90:Location is great, near Checkpoint Charlie and Jewish Museum and U bahn station. The cleaning ladies cleaned the bathroom and toilet frequently.

Review 91:The showers could have been a bit cleaner

Review 92:They don't have any time for loud people coming home late so I had no problems at all with noise There are big lockers in the rooms which was very handy for me as I had expensive stuff. There is a lidl just around the corner where I bought food. They also have a really nice diner that offers special deals to people in the hostel. The staff are very reasonable and helpful There is a good kitchen and common room You can buy most travel essentials at the reception The area felt quite safe

Review 93:The rain outside.

Review 94:“Very friendly and efficient stuff, good room and roommates, great location.Even the little Breakfast for only 2.50 Euro was a surprise.Free WiFi.

Review 95:The showers on my floor only had cold water the whole week I was there, no one bothered putting up a note to say there were more downstairs, they had hot water but were also broken. The power points were falling off the walls and the staff frequently entered my room which was unsettling. The last night I was there the place caught on fire. Highly recommend to not stay there, avoid it at all costs!

Review 96:Checking out

Review 97:No towels. The bathrooms were shared with the whole floor and were a Walk away. Wifi was pretty bad, but they had computers!

Review 98:Free locks for he lockers, no curfew. Friendly staff and helpful. He kitchen was nice!

Review 99:- we booked 8-bed mixed dorm, but we ended up in a room with 7 men and 1 female; very uncomfortable situation; I wouldn't call it mixed dorm (expected ratio in mixed dorms is 40:60 or 50:50) - very small room for 8 people - dorm bathroom dirty due to too many men occupying the dorm - very small dining area - small kitchen

Review 100:- prime location with a lot of monuments within walkable distance - easy check-in and check-out

Review 101:Hall type (shower and restroom on the floor)

Review 102:Good location of the hostel, price and service ratio was also make this hostel nice place to stay. Breakfast for hostel customers was both cheap and delicious. Good internet connection, bikes rent provided.

Review 103:they had some problem with a room key, because some other customer ost it or something else and for three days i need to ask them to open the door of room and its a little problem when i had to take a shower. In the shower it will be useful have a little chair where put the things during the shower. The kitchen can be better.

Review 104:the position is really good, five minutes from checkpoint charlie and its u-bahn station. The staff is nice and there is always someone to the reception, 24/24.

Review 105:The internet COULD be better. I had to pay for a towel.. The mirror in my room was so wierd. Didn't feel I could use it really to chek out my looks of the day.

Review 106:Nice staff that also spoke english. The internet was way better than CityHostel's. The bathrooms were clean and nice. I didn't use the kitchen but I liked the fact that it was there. Lidl was really close to the hostel. I could buy a toothbrush.

Review 107:The bathrooms were a little bit dirty and towels for extra but not so big money

Review 108:Everything is good. It's situated cloce to centre. The price is really low. It's an ideal variant for them who is looking cheap accomodation.

Review 109:hostel means other people in your room, and people passing and talking in corridors in front of your room. They simply don't respect the others who are sleeping and get as noisy as they can. It's not the hostel's fault, but I'd rather stay in a hotel

Review 110:the price, the location

Review 111:The Wifi sucked. It was very unstable and had to come to receptionarea to work.

Review 112:The hostel is pretty neat and is near to most of the tourist places. Youcan vist the Jewish museum, checkpoint charlie, Pots damer platz, topography of terrors etc which are present in a walkable distance.

Review 113:smell in the corridor and rooms lack of regular cleaning in bathroom lack of warm water - but I guess it was temporary

Review 114:location price reception desk workers

Review 115:Only 3 showers for everyone... No way to get hot water Kitchen without enough tools to cook properly

Review 116:Amazing staff Clean and tidy Big common room Amazing location Great price

Review 117:The kitchen was very basic, common room was small but still okay. Breakfast is overpriced.

Review 118:Location was great! Travellers friendly, good size room with plenty of space for personal belongings. Bathrooms were very clean. The staff accommodated my early check in request.

Review 119:Kitchen was very dirty (maybe people arent taught how to wash up these days?)and there was no room in the fridges, maybe they need a system because I think people just bought food an left it behind. If the guests put their name and date they leave the hostel on their food then people would know what could be thrown away or used by others. Also one of the ovens didn't work.

Review 120:Great atmosphere and very good for basic stay. Beds were clean and bedding is provided. I had an excellent time, met some lovely people. Like the common room and the table football :)

Review 121:Floors and the showers was bit dirty and kitchen smells very very bad.

Review 122:Hostel is close to the city center and the main attractions. Wi-fi is available at rooms. They have a luggage room so you can leave your luggage before check-in time.

Review 123:Staff did not knew all the details about bicycle hire. Not so bad, maybe there were now workers, they were friendly and helpful anyway.

Review 124:Good value for money. Friendly staff :)

Review 125:Maybe sometimes the staff wasn't so fast to solve some problems we had. But appart from that everything was a real pleasure.

Review 126:The big and comfortable kitchen and common room, I got to know amazing people. The showers were also really clean and the rooms were fairly big and had comfortable beds with clean sheets (you don't see that in every hostel in europe...) . It's located right next to the chekpoint charlie which is a central point of Berlin. You can walk almost everywhere from there.

Review 127:This is the cleanest hostel I've ever stayed. I've been to over 30 cities in Europe, America, Asia, and Africa. Mostly stayed in hostels, and this is by far the cleanest and best overall hostel.

Review 128:nothing is good

Review 129:Poor maintained showers Lockers are a bit small

Review 130:Clean bed Friendly staff Good location Lockers available

Review 131:It is not very cleam

Review 132:Wifi was terrible, you should register every time from Facebook and it was extremely slow.

Review 133:The staff should definitely improve his English, and the wifi is terribly slow.

Review 134:Location.

Review 135:For the price you pay to stay in the middle of the city, is excelent value!

Review 136:The showers were dirty. Water all over the floor

Review 137:The employees were very nice and the hostal is very well located

Review 138:It is too noisy. The toillet and bathroom are not clean

Review 139:Location is fine

Review 140:Was really OK. Not perfect but it's a hostel so you can't expect stars.
