Reviews for Hotel Karlštejn

Review 1:Walls were quite thin, so could hear noise from the neighbouring room. No restaurant (just a day café), so had to eat at other places in town - not a problem as there are restaurants a short walk away, but need to eat early as the kitchens tend to start closing about 8pm.

Review 2:Lovely room, well decorated and furnished. Great location in the centre of town with views towards the castle. Breakfast buffet was not extensive but perfectly adequate. Friendly staff.

Review 3:Not enough electricity in the room (we had to take turns to charge our cellphones) and the WIFI didn't work all night.

Review 4:very close to the castle. good breakfast. private parking

Review 5:Nothing!

Review 6:Sabina was a charming and welcoming host and could not do enough to help us, a group of 7 cyclists plus car driver. She did some washing for us, recommended an outstanding restaurant and was friendly, as were her staff.

Review 7:Room was a bit small for the price. The kitchen wasnt open alot.

Review 8:Free wi-fi, view of Karlstejn castle & polite staff. Also there was a quality tat shop featuring t-shirts such as czech me out & prague drinking team!

Review 9:Definitely not a 4 star hotel - beds with dust, no disposable cups in the bathroom, noisy fridge, very very very poor breakfast, small windows, therefore, problems with fresh air, in the bedroom we heard very well when neighbor took a shower

Review 10:There was no jacuzzi or pool available (construction not finished), sauna was quite expensive. As well, I think that 4 star hotel should have a restaurant but what was on site was more like a cafe bar. Very expensive night for what you get.

Review 11:Staff was super friendly and very helpful.

Review 12:Confusion of reservation between hotel and booking.com has not been a good start of our trip. Instant coffee served for breakfast when they have a proper coffee shop with espresso machine. If you leave a key in the room you must pay 2000 CZK for them to open it for you (!)

Review 13:Location

Review 14:Lack of information from staff upon check in. Discovered a pool the morning after we checked out - would've liked to have known about it. Check in staff's English was limited so it would've been nice t have an info sheet in English with details about pool, breakfast, check in/out times. Also, poor ventilation air flow so would've liked a fan during the high heat. Also, finally, the hotel said Booking.com is just to hold reservation and that we pay them directly but other properties we booked on booking.com were direct pay and we had already been charged.

Review 15:Great location.

Review 16:Ground floor room facing street is noisy if window must be open due to no a/c. Music coming from store underneath 1st floor. Window is a bit small, no screen and bugs do fly in but you have to keep it open for air.

Review 17:Nice, clean room. Lots of wood and and old charm. Breakfast was wonderful with choices of meats and egg and coffee. Free wifi-was excellent.

Review 18:would like to see a slightly better breakfast next time, better quality pillow.

Review 19:Lucy was wonderful gave us super advice . A real friendly hotel home away from home.

Review 20:There is a downside to everything, of course! It is important to mention that we visited Karlstejn outside of the regular tourist season and the Hotel was basically empty, yet still we were able to hear every single word of our neighbors' when listening closely. I would consider this quite an issue - hopefully the owner will be able to fix it in the future. We knew about this beforehand from previous reviews, but gave it a try anyway and we didn't really regret our choice.

Review 21:Our stay in the Hotel was an overall great experience. The location of the Hotel is perfect, right in the middle of the very cozy village, just meters away from the castle with lots of possibilities to eat & drink or take a hiking tour. The corridors and rooms of the Hotel are also very nice and calm with lots of paintings and small things that create a very pleasant atmosphere. The staff is a very friendly small team of young people ready to consult you on anything you need to know about the Hotel or the area and very willing to satisfy all your needs. We even met the owner of the property who seems to care about his business a lot, always trying to make it as good as possible and improve small deficits. The Hotel already has a sauna, yet a completely new pavilion with a whirlpool, regular pool & a small bar (all in one) with an exclusive view on the castle right above the hotel on a small hill is planned and the construction works had already begun. I'm definitely coming back when that's done!

Review 22:Lucy and her friendly team took very good care of us and provided numerous helpful tips about what one can do in the vicinity of Karlstejn. We will be back soon, very soon indeed!

Review 23:The town itself was like fairytale, particularly because of the snow we had just after Xmas surrounded by the Castle and the forest. The hotel was in the middle of the village and walking distance to the castle and the restaurants. The staff very friendly and on site we used the sauna facilities and could buy souvenirs as there is a shop attached to it. It is a great place to stay if you have a rental car as it is located 40 minutes from Prague. We stayed 5 days in Prague, so 3 days was enough to see the main attractions and do a tour to Ktuna Hora and the last 2 days we stayed in Karlstein. Great place to relax and have a break from busy touristic Prague.

Review 24:Hmmm. Have to scratch hard to find anything we didn't like. Perhaps the hot water took a long time to arrive in the (spacious and bright) bathroom -- causing my eco-conscious daughter some anxiety as cold water poured down the drain while the hot water was coaxed up to us!

Review 25:Right from the moment we got off the train, signs point the way to Hotel Karlstejn! That was especially handy because we arrived after dark and planned to walk the scant half-kilometre to the hotel. There wasn't a soul around and the signage saved us! On ringing the bell, we were greeted warmly by a woman who said her English was poor (it was perfect to us!) and she guided us to our room, which was lovely and, as advertised, filled with quaint, antique-style armoires, a clock and beautiful headboard. The breakfast the next morning was nourishing, filling and more than the family could devour. My daughter was especially delighted by the orange cat that sat outside our room window and reminded her of home. We would certainly stay here again.

Review 26:On the main street with a great view of the castle. The rooms are fairly large, comfortable, and very clean! Everyone was very helpful and friendly. We also loved the air freshener in the hallways!

Review 27:WiFi was very difficult, falling off and hard to reconnect.

Review 28:Very modern room. Great staff. In the heart of the town. Great personalize breakfast on par with many of the German hotels.

Review 29:We were missing a place to eat, kind of a dining room. The hotel itself has this kind of bistro where we had our breakfast, but the ice-cream machine was making a constant noise so the breakfast was not so quiet and peaceful as we expected.

Review 30:The room was nice, clean and quiet. Even though the rooms are not made for big families, we cannot complain. The staff is very nice and helpful.

Review 31:Actually, everything - the hotel is in the main street of Karlstein, near the castle and all the restaurants and shops. It has a private parking place. The rooms are very nice, large and comfortable. Our room had a view on the castle. The breakfast is simple, but tasty and on the best end of "continental".

Review 32:1. There are no end tables on either side of the bed. 2. It is said on booking.com that there is a restaurant on site, but in fact there is only a cafe and no opportunity to eat dinner. 3. When it is said there are castle views it was expected to sit in your room and have nice views of the castle. Instead, you had to walk up to a very small window and look up to see the castle. 4. The price of the room was a little expensive for what you get.

Review 33:1. The breakfast was really nice. 2. Lucas, the receptionist was very pleasant and helpful.

Review 34:No air conditioner. Very thin walls. In the morning (7am) i woke up because in next room family from Belgium was preparing go to breakfast. That was just incredible we hear them like they were in our room. And at this moment i understand that the hole hotel was listening for us all the night )). Also there is no normal reception. The very nice guy that worked there was also receptionist and also a waiter and i think he is doing more other jobs there... at 4 stars hotel!

Review 35:The view on the castle. Nice decoration, well maintened.

Review 36:Loved it all!

Review 37:The location and view was amazing. The staff were very helpful as well.

Review 38:Paperthin walls, terrible bed

Review 39:Great location, very friendly people

Review 40:Seems understaffed (running restaurant, gift-shop and hostel simultaneously), patchy spoken English and German at times.

Review 41:Clean, comfortable, central

Review 42:Nothing to say. Only perfect.

Review 43:familyroom was very small, everything else was good

Review 44:didn't stay longer

Review 45:location opposite castle, great staff

Review 46:Could hear when people were coming and going in the coridor

Review 47:Very helpful staff, specially the cleaning lady!

Review 48:beautiful town, very lovely furnished hotel, super nice staff, parking on side

Review 49:Nice hotel with a perfect location to visit the castle, only a short walk uphill

Review 50:nothing

Review 51:very nice view from window of hotel on castel karstejn.

Review 52:excellent!

Review 53:Room size Overrated castle view

Review 54:Location Facilities Private parking

Review 55:Friendly, helpful owner who met us on arrival. Staff helpful. Rooms very clean and well ordered, although bathroom not quite finished. Decoration was careful although room was rather dark as a result of heavy wall colour combined with dark furniture. Overall a good quality of accommodation for the price.

Review 56:Location of the hotel was great, right in the village, a short walk to the castle and restaurants. Room was large and very clean. Staff was efficient and polite and the buffet breakfast was good (the Czech sausage was very good). There was free parking at the back of the hotel.

Review 57:You can not ask for a better location for a hotel. The view of the Karlstejn Castle from our room was amazing. The walk up to the castle was a breeze due to location as well. The staff was friendly and the room was very comfortable. Breakfast was good. No eggs to order which was a little disappointing for a 4 star. Parking was free and on sight which was a plus.

Review 58:There were no real blinds and no screens on the windows, just some curtains.

Review 59:Great place to stay if you have a car. The train to Prague takes 40 minutes. Many inexpensive souvenir shops around (you can do all your Prague souvenir shopping in this town). The rooms have good Karlstejn castle views

Review 60:The view was amazing and the staff were very welcoming. Excellent hotel, small and cozy.

Review 61:Nothing

Review 62:Easy to find. Good location

Review 63:Excellent location for visiting the castle. Don't hesitate to drive up the small road marked for pedestrians only.

Review 64:Great staff and manager hostpitality !

Review 65:When the castle closed mostrestaurants and shops closed as well.

Review 66:environment
