Reviews for Hôtel du Glacier

Review 1:Just a shock at how expensive Switzerland is.

Review 2:2 floor accommodation in a duplex apartment overlooking the lake at Champex-lac. Modern, every comfort possible. Fully equipped kitchen, 2 comfortable bedrooms and sofa bed in large open plan living space with balcony. A treat to stay somewhere with this level of comfort and cleanliness. Clothes washing in the small laundry room at the complex (small change for meter rqd) It snowed as we arrived, but the roads were cleared more or less immediately. Village has one or two shops; baker, sports shop and small supermarket. We had take-away Pizza from the hotel restaurant on our arrival night which was handy. Manager was friendly, informative and always on hand for queries. Fantastic walks right from the doorstep. Wonderful location.

Review 3:Nothing!

Review 4:We stayed for 3 nights in an apartment situated just across the road from the hotel. Perfect location because it is close to the lake and forest with many hike trails and ski lifts. The apartment had 2 bedrooms and bathrooms, open planned kitchen-livingrrom with fireplace, flatscreen and wifi. Very nice large balcony with sun in afternoon. Great place for anyone with children or dog. Great alpine decoration and living standard.

Review 5:Dangerous shower -- other clients confirmed as well it was not just my room -- hot water in shower fluctuates from cold to scalding, difficult and dangerous to enjoy.

Review 6:Comfortable room, good food, friendly staff, good location to enjoy lake, village or tour du Mont Blanc.

Review 7:Facilities were not as expected based on the description given

Review 8:Good location close to the lake and breakfast was nice.

Review 9:Nothing

Review 10:The fondue

Review 11:A very nice Swiss mountain hotel. Friendly, professional and helpful owner and staff and very good food.

Review 12:Mediocre food

Review 13:Friendly staff and clean, comfortable accommodations.

Review 14:Eves at the front desk was wonderful. He helped us sort out our bus schedule to the next destination and beyond. Trail running was incredible. Views from our room were great. Love this little town. Great place to stay an extra day and rest from the Tour du Mont Blanc.

Review 15:The food was excellent and the staff were incredibly helpful. The hotel is located in the centre of champex and is perfectly located for the lake, the ski slopes, other restaurants and ski/equipment hire shops

Review 16:Beds were comfortable but not very cosy nor inviting. Only half the bedwas prepared, the other half was wrapped up with no pillow nor duvet....Tv set was incredibly small. When entering the room for the first time, there was a one piece of wrapped chocolate on the pillow as a welcomepresent... I know the intention was good, but could not help to see itas some kind of rat experiment, the piece of chocolat being thereward....

Review 17:Doors were left open on 31st Dec/01st Jan very late which was nice

Review 18:Excellent hotel - Very charming. Good breakfast (included in price). Private sauna and hot tub (bookable in advance but included in price). Lovely terrace out of room with lake view and plenty of space to have a drink. Easy access for everything in Champex.

Review 19:Note: This is my revised review. In my original review, I mentioned suffering bed bug bites. The hotel contacted with their actions and findings, so I am rewriting to reflect the facts.I hiked from La Fouly to Champex on August 5 and checked into this hotel. After lying down on the bed and reading some books, I began to find bites on my face, neck, arms, and legs. The situation got worse the next morning. I thought it was allergy and rushed to see a doctor. I was told that they were bed bug bites. The doctor said he had treated people with similar issues in previous years. The bites caused serious hives, and it is fair to say that it ruined my vacation. I was not sure whether it happened in La Fouly the night before or at this hotel. After I mentioned the above in my original review, the hotel contacted me and said that they had a specialist to review the situation and concluded that I was bitten the night before at La Fouly. The specialist said that it was pretty common to show bite marks after a day or two, and that since I found bite marks before turning off the light, it is unlikely I got bitten in this hotel. The hotel will have the specialist thoroughly check the room and make sure there is nothing wrong. I am pleased with the hotel actions. It seems that the issue could be with La Fouly.

Review 20:Decent room with good shower. They have a laundry service - a bit pricycompared to other places, but it is a great service to hikers.

Review 21:Actually only disadvantage was that the rooms (and especially the waterpipes) can be heard easily throughout the hotel. But luckily all theguests this time were "not taking a shower in the middle of the night"and no guests were making noise in the corridors and/or in their rooms.

Review 22:We booked the hotel Glacier to spend a few days in the mountains. We hadexcellent weather and could do lots of hiking tours. The hotel isperfectly located in the center of the small village of Champex-Lac,directly opposite the small lake. We had a room with balcony on the sideof the building with a beautiful view to the lake, the village and themountains. Perfect. And no noise from the street side. Breakfast wasgood with quality products (only thing we missed is the Valais darkbread, which would have been nice to have that on the buffet). We hadtwice a dinner in the restaurant which was very good and can berecommended.

Review 23:Very helpful / friendly staff Lovely breakfast Nice restaurant Good central location

Review 24:Big apartment, modern, nice furniture, open kitchen, large bathroom, next to the lake, parking spot, dinner at the hotel was good

Review 25:The only thing I felt was missing was a simple welcome pack E.G. coffee, milk and biscuits.

Review 26:The Duplex apartment was fabulous.

Review 27:Nicht wie von booking.com vorgeschlagen 10km sondern 30km(!) von Verbier entfernt.

Review 28:Not applicable.

Review 29:Very good beds. Excellent daily dinner menus. Very helpful and friendly staff. Overall comfortable atmosphere of the hotel.

Review 30:Friendly welcome.
