Reviews for A&O Dresden Hauptbahnhof

Review 1:To bad you need to pay €3,50 euro for bed linnen. Its a third of the total price u pay for the bed.. So at first this hostel looks cheap but meanwhile it can cost more then other hostel with lower or no cost for bed linnen. Be aware!

Review 2:Location is great if u need to be around Central station. Sky bar is cool and super view of the city!

Review 3:Not so clean. Matrasses for the kids not really comfortable. Price double as standard (it was new year's eve). No table where to play with the kids.

Review 4:Nice people at the reception

Review 5:Poor soundproofing. It was able to hear all the sounds on our floor

Review 6:The location is great. We stayed in double room. Also it was very nice, clean and comfortable place. Stuff is very friendly. Free wi-fi and great view from the roof of the building. We really liked to stay at this place and can highly recommend it for the tourists!

Review 7:It was slightly noisy, but it is a hostel so that is to be expected.

Review 8:Overall the experience was good. The hotel room was like the pictures and the location is great.

Review 9:I get why this was the last hotel with this low-ish price that wasn't booked yet. It was pretty far away from the center of the city, in a not that nice location. Bed and toilet was clean, but the rest of the room felt kinda a bit dirty. The worst on the hotel is, that you can hear anyone a bit more loud from other rooms and you can even hear people from the hall talking on regular volume. It's ok for one night stand, but I would recommend to get something else.

Review 10:I liked the price of the hotel and how simply I checked in and out. But I wouldn't choose it if other hotels on the same price level weren't already booked.

Review 11:really expensive for being a hostel. The bed is a piece of foam. I've paid less for low cost hotels and they were more comfortable. Surrounding the hostel there is nothing around. The city tax of 5€ per day will make me think twice to comeback to Dresden.

Review 12:near the main train station

Review 13:It's difficult to say something because I stayed there for one night. However, some things as wifi connection that was not that good and public areas were not so attractive.

Review 14:Location

Review 15:you can pay by credit/debit card, but there's 3€ fee; quite small hotel room for two, but enough for overnight

Review 16:Quick check-in/out, clean room, nice bathroom, near to train station, free wifi

Review 17:We booked a double room but we got single beds instead although we didn't really mind because we stayed for just 1 night and they were comfortable enough. The pillow (yes, only 1 pillow) was too thin though. I had to fold it thrice to get the volume I wanted but then it became too small (of course).

Review 18:Location. Very close to the main train station. The room was clean. Parking was easy.

Review 19:Sadly the staff was not so friendly and there was some lack of communication before my travel. I sent a few mails and never had an answer. I had two last-upper-floor rooms, and sometimes there was rumors coming from above, like people pushing tables or so (maybe from the bar upstair), at 01:00 AM. Even if the bathroom was well cleaned, i have to say that under the bed there was some trashes. Note: the doors are not soundproof, you will hear for sure if someone go out in the corridor and capture every last world they say. Conclusion: we did not have a bad experience at A&O Dresden, but i like to underline that it was more a Hostel treatment rather than a Hotel one.

Review 20:Good position, really close to the Palucca tram stop and 10 minutes walking from the train station. Little bathroom, but well cleaned. The single room was little, but both were well warmth and even if the Hotel was near the trails, it was really rare to hear a train pass by (obviously with the windows closed).

Review 21:The staff were fantastically helpful and friendly, the place, though a big complex, felt homely, and there were good places to chill and hang out. Also I met some cool people.

Review 22:Breakfast is really not worth the money you pay for it. Had I known it before I would not have had breakfast there. The rooms are really small and clean, but common spaces and stairs are not so clean.

Review 23:Location was good! Next to the train station and bus stops.

Review 24:Internet connection in the room was very unreliable and stopped working when too much people were using it. Even though I paid for it! The doors are very thin and let a lot of noise from the floor into the room. It was annoying, as there was a school class at the same floor. The room key sometimes stopped working and I had to reactivate it at the desk. Also I received a wrong bill in the beginning. Organization seems to be not the best, check everything twice ;)

Review 25:Location is nice. For the price the rooms are ok.

Review 26:The high speed wifi connection that costs 5 euro per day was accepateble in lobby only, in rooms the signal was weak and it almost impossible even to open google maps.

Review 27:Everything is fine exept for internet connection.

Review 28:- wants to be a hotel, but service and facilities are worse than in hostels!! - uncomfortable - clairaudient & loud

Review 29:- 24h Reception - Personal was nice

Review 30:I did not feel much comfort staying here because the room was not clean. It seemed like they never cleaned the night tables as they were so dusty and there were hair all over the floor.

Review 31:It's close to Dresden Hbf. I booked a double room and found that our room had 2 bathrooms (and 2 entrances to the room) It was weird but very convenient in the morning.

Review 32:1. Window curtain was very thin. I could'nt sleep properly after sunrise, due to direct sunlight from window. When I asked staff to provide thick or another curtain, its surprising that they don't have any. 2. Hot water is available only after 6 AM. 3. Not many options for vegetarians for breakfast.

Review 33:Quite peaceful atmosphere.

Review 34:If I'm ought to be picky, the free wifi connection was not so good but I guess that's what you get for free.

Review 35:The proximity to the Dresden Central Station (Hauptbahnof) was ideal for me as I was carrying plenty of baggage, It's not right in the Old Town (Altstadt) but I walked there most of the time since from the Central Station, which is to the left of A&O, you head straight to a square (Wiener Platz), go through Prager Strasse and continue on through Seestrasse always in the same direction.and you will arrive to Altmarkt and from that point everything is very intuitive. If you're not into walking just take the trams 3, 8 or 7, which stop near key points of interest until. The tram 11 might also be useful. I stayed in a single room with private bathroom and it was clean and comfortable, everything I needed.

Review 36:I didn't realized that I booked a hotel/hostel. Lots of noisy youth around, just right under our window. It quieted down after 10:00 pm & we got some sleep.

Review 37:Despite pretty basic facilities and an ordinary breakfast, this was the most expensive of the nine hotels my friend and I stayed at on our German trip and therefore not very good value.

Review 38:wifi doesn't work in upstairs...

Review 39:Thé hostel price was really cheap...Breakfast with lots of choises...close to the hauptbahhof...staffs are kind and helpfull...I recommend this hostel ;)

Review 40:Wifi is not working very well, it works only in the lobby. The staff was not very kind and information was not provided sufficiently. Since it was the first floor, it was noisy even during the midnight. And you have to pay 10% fee if you pay with visa card!

Review 41:It was clean and the location was very nice, really close to the central station.

Review 42:The free wifi inside the room was slow as molasses in January. I found difficulty even in texting on Whatsapp. Also, the first aid kit was not well-equipped. No alcohol to sterilize my wound! It is necessary to prepare enough first aid tools.

Review 43:The location is good. It only takes less than 10mins from the train station.

Review 44:They ask extras for everything, the sheets, towel, more taxes and even to pay by credit card, at the end I paid 10 euros more just for 1 night. Some staff looks like don't like their job and are not really friendly and helpful.

Review 45:Is very close to the train and bus station and to the main attractions, the room is comfortable and the bed give you chance to take a rest.

Review 46:Nothing

Review 47:Close to Hbf & Tram station to go to town centre. 24 hours receptionist as night pub at night. Enjoyed drinking after sightseeing all night long.

Review 48:It's really close to the train station, which was nice, but a bit far from the town center and most of the sights.

Review 49:The facilities are very nice. Really good showers, good wifi. There was always somebody at reception. One of the better places I've stayed.

Review 50:the first bedroom (6-bed dorm) given to me was not tidy and clean. perhaps it was because of the other occupants who were not tidy themselves. the shared toilet within the room had some poop left on the bowl, tried to clean it but it has hardened. not sure when was the toilet last cleaned. thankfully i was able to transfer to a different room.

Review 51:the hostel is very near the dresden hauptbahnhof. i originally booked a bed in 6-bed dorm, but was dissatisfied with it. i asked if i can be transferred to a different room, and they were able to find me a single bedroom at the same price!

Review 52:VERY long waiting times at reception with just one member of staff on duty every time. Long, complicated check-in process with a form to be filled out. Room (double) small compared to other A&O hotels and cleanliness below par. Corridor very dirty and shower not totally clean.

Review 53:Location close to main station and views over the city from the room. Sky bar a nice extra for an evening at the hotel.

Review 54:though that our stay was pretty cheap, it should still be possible to make everything a bit more comfortable and look better. it was also not the cleanest room we've ever stayed in.

Review 55:we had two bathrooms - one with a shower, one with a toilet. that made the morning process pretty easy.

Review 56:Only that my friend arrived and his booking had been cancelled, so he was left without a room. He was furious, but we laughed in the end as he squeezed into our room.

Review 57:It was a good comforable place, didn't have time to check out the rooftop bar!

Review 58:when walk to hostel at night it made me feel unsafe because the street atmosphere, some staff made me feel bad cause she don't recommend anything about interesting place, not friendly at all.

Review 59:Location is near station

Review 60:Very noisy student group disturbs us every evening. They were running, shouting, knocking at the doors, slaming the doors permanently. They were at the hostel part, but too near to the hotel, where were our rooms.

Review 61:The rooms are clean, the beakfast is fine. Free wifi in the room as well. The railway station is 5 minutes, the city center is 10-15 minutes.

Review 62:We were at a womens room and they check in a guy in the room by mistake. Thankfully we were awake to see it and complain. The problem was solved immediatelly.

Review 63:facilities and internet are great, and the location as well.

Review 64:can get loud at impossible hours (3am in the morning), the youngsters back from their club crawl.. But well it happens at most hostels soo...

Review 65:Near main station, tram buses etc, aldi just rite behind the buding. Clean, comfortable, nice friendly staffs

Review 66:The bed was twin bed so it always move separately into two, while we slept there together with our baby. It not really comforting.

Review 67:Location not so close to Hauptbahnhof, but it close to one of tram stop, just one stop before/after Hauptbahnhof. Room was spacious for us with a family. They gave you also hot water if you ask.

Review 68:whilst not actually next to the station the location is only a few minutes walk away. Check in was easy and the room more than adequate. The skybar on the top floor (8) gave good view across the city. Bed was comfortable and room nice and warm (in February)

Review 69:No kitchen which also stated on the Website. The bad part was not eating area so prepare to crash in a lobby and eat there.

Review 70:It is an okay place that worth the money but nothing special. Be prepared to pay extra for bed sheet/towels (3.5 euro)--but it stated on the Website so there is no surprise. Shared bathroom for this hostel means there is a bathroom and toilet in each room sharing with four or six people which is great. Rosemary hostel in Prague and other hostels means sharing with other rooms which is pretty dirty and lots of traffic in the morning and evening.

Review 71:Everything was great.

Review 72:Clean, cozy room, well equipped bathroom, good attitude to dog. You can park for free on the street. Good location - near the station and old town. Supermarket and some fast foods are near. Great Wi-FI - we had room on the second floor and there were still free Wi-Fi connection.

Review 73:They try to remind people to be quiet, but...both nights there were young guys coming back from the bars, loud enough in the hallways to wake us all up. Too bad! Still, it was a nice place, friendly staff, and walkable to the train station, so overall a positive experience.

Review 74:The Family room was perfect for us, the kids loved the comfy bunk beds and had enough room to spread out with toys and comic books. They loved the pool table downstairs.

Review 75:I travel a lot in Europe, I hadn't have problem with any hostel since this one. The staff when we arrived was rude and not polite, we payed and went to walk in the city until our room be ready, when we come back another staff was there (much more polite than the women in the morning), but we ask for our room (private for 6 persons) and he said that was a mistake and in the system and there were two people in our private room that we already payed!!! It takes more than one hour to "solve" the problem, because there weren't another room for 6, and I had to talk on the phone with a women (not polite too), that said many times that I made a wrong reservation and the only mistake that they did was charge a wrong value. But I had the email with a proof that my reservation was not wrong!

Review 76:Mattrasses to soft, shower room too small, standing in front of sink causes the risk to hit yourback on thetowlheater, high price for low quality below level of student dormitory), the family room does not deserve category hotel room.

Review 77:Cancellation of booking without problems.

Review 78:No negatives

Review 79:Room facilities excellent. Breakfast great. All round good value - especially for families since children under 18 stay free. Reasonably close to downtown area. Close to Main Train station.

Review 80:The room and the bed is not comfortable.

Review 81:This hotel provides the basic things you need. Very good value for money. There is a supermarket just behind the hotel.

Review 82:Twin Room are a bit cramped if you have 1-2 yrs old child and select only a Twin Room..

Review 83:Family Room with 2 beds + 2 bunker beds for children is Good; Separate Showerroom and Toilet room in Family Room

Review 84:Bathroom is a little small but not a major issue.

Review 85:This is a budget hotel so as long as you are not expecting 5 stars you will not be disappointed. Very good value for money, we had the family room, it was more than large enough to accommodate 2 children aged 10 and 12 and 2 adults. Very easy walk to the centre of Dresden and staff were very helpful and friendly. I would not hesitate recommending this hotel for family and friends travelling on a budget.

Review 86:Extensive check-in procedure when the guy eventually decided to serve customers instead of cleaning. Too much information required on check-in. I don't like paying IBIS prices for a basic hotel like this. It is poor value for money. I stayed here in the 1970s during the DDR years and, apart from some paint, it hasn't changed a lot.

Review 87:Surprisingly comfortable bed.

Review 88:The guy working at front said us that the price includes linen but it was not included. So we confused when we arrived at the room.

Review 89:Location is nice. Not far from the station. But if you arrive in the night, you might feel a bit anxious because the hostel is in kind of dark area.

Review 90:No glasses/plates/cutlery in room.

Review 91:Near to the main train station, not far from city center and main attractions, basic accomodation but clean and quiet (on Sunday night). Bus stop in front of hotel/hostel. Aldi shop & doner kebap just next to hotel.

Review 92:Because it is a hostel, other guests can come back being a bit noisy during the night, and it sounded like there were elephants upstairs at 3 am!

Review 93:Breakfast! Great price for what you get. Delicious bread, great selection of meats and cheeses, fruits, delicious müsli. Single room was small but adequate. ALDI is located just next door to the hostel.

Review 94:Noisy. Didn't like the breakfast options. To reach the rooms you go ALWAYS through the fire door exit and is TERRIBLY NOISY (obviously, it's very heavy). They put us in the area of hostel (more noisy) because hotel room were all busy (I booked weeks in advance!).

Review 95:Location. Was very clean. Staff tried to help but knew nothing about what to visit or how to go to places.

Review 96:bathroom quite small

Review 97:Spacious room with TV, comfortable beds, very clean, silent at night even with window open, friendly and helpful staff, Wi-Fi in room (for small fee), play corner for children and snooker with bar, excellent breakfast

Review 98:Not really a hotel, more of an over priced hostel. Poor cooling system (no aircon) Very dirty room with spiderwebs and loads of dusty surfaces. Noisy place, did not help that it seems to cater mostly to young school groups. Poor internet (unless you are in the reception area). Awful foam mattresses and small single beds - not aimed at couples then.

Review 99:Dresden is amazing, love the city. The location suited us well as it was close to the tram stop or a short walk to the main station.

Review 100:Hostel and hotel were not separate - it was extremely loud on the corridor all night long. The mattress had some plastic cover which made it very uncomfortable to sleep. Personnel amazingly slow at checkin and checkout, which is already at 10am. All in all - don't book this hotel if you want to get some sleep.

Review 101:Quite a lot of hallway noise and door slamming that was disturbing for sleep

Review 102:Handy to he maim station and tram into town. Very good-sized rooms and a good deal for the price.

Review 103:I wasn't informed that I had to pay a fee for the bed sheets (3 euro), the building is a bit depressing, adjacent to the railway - noisy trains pass all the time, breakfast not icluded - you pay 7 euros for it! Attention: supermarket open until 8p.m. only!

Review 104:Good price per night and cleanlines of the room, perfect location for me - I wanted to go to the university library which is a bit distant from the city center. On the other hand, the center at a foot distance (40 min. walk), close to the central train station. Supermarket very close.

Review 105:We have to ask the desk for our towel & bedding stuff and prepare the bed ourselves. The door was not so sound proofing. No so called "welcome drink".

Review 106:good location.

Review 107:Got the wrong room to begin with (one where there was no free place). It was fixed after the rightful owner almost chased me out of his bed. My room was on the ground floors right above the outdoor tables where people socialized undisturbed until 1 or 2 am, although in theory we were supposed to use them only before 10. Far from the interesting parts of Dresden (but very convenient for the railway station).

Review 108:In-room bathroom and toilet. Gorgeous views from the bar on the top floor.

Review 109:We had to pay 5E each to have the wifi password but then it didn't work. We got our money back but still, you should really improve that

Review 110:Expensive breakfast.

Review 111:The bed was perfect. Everything is renovated as well. All in all great value for the money!

Review 112:additional sheet fare, which is a german law

Review 113:location

Review 114:You need to pay extra for wifi

Review 115:Clean room and bathroom.

Review 116:Price...I think it is higher

Review 117:location..near to Bahnhof & shopping.

Review 118:The card key usually doesn't work well.

Review 119:It's quite close to main train station.

Review 120:The pillows seemed a little old and flat.

Review 121:The window could open, and the fact that there were two separate bathrooms (WC/Badzimmer).

Review 122:Room is too stuffy but overall is good. Clean and cozy!

Review 123:Staffs very friendly and helpful.

Review 124:Too far away from city center (on foot)

Review 125:Breakfast was really good.

Review 126:Friendly staff, good location, very clean.

Review 127:Location and staffs are very good. Walking distant to the station and the Christmas market.

Review 128:The beds were way too soft and springy, we could hardly sleep at all.

Review 129:The location is convenient. It is a 15 min walk into the heart of the city.

Review 130:very kind staff and clean room.

Review 131:I was alone at trip and slept in dormitory. There was 2 other girls. Shower and toilet in the room. Everything was allright.

Review 132:The room was not made

Review 133:The acoustic insulation is poor, and noise always comes from corridor.

Review 134:The hotel is inexpensive, and close to the main station.

Review 135:The hotel is close to the city center and train station.

Review 136:Great breakfast

The Fine Print

High speed Wi-Fi is available for an additional EUR 5 per 24 hours.
