Review 1：Having enjoyed their hospitality several times before I found the food less appetizing than previously... and, sadly, felt treated abruptly and not at all welcomed by the family that runs the property. We had booked for five nights (required minimun) but because of unanticipated airline schedule changes, had to leave after three nights. Our departure felt like a very brusquedismissal... probably won't be back. Our "perfect place," unfortunately, a disappointment.

Review 2：Berchtesgaden is a gem, nestled in the Bavairan Alps... a beautiful and historic village... a quick drive or train trip to Salzburg Austria. Gasthof Maria Gern is located in one of the most beautiful spots in the valley....traditional and peaceful

Review 3：I liked absolutely everything about this place and enjoyed every minute of staying there! The place around and the personal made our holiday even better then we expected. Was there for New Year's Eve and that was a fairlytale. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you wanna unforgettable holiday in mountains.

Review 4：The lingering stench of tobacco smoke was a bit overpowering. The entire hotel smells of decades of heavy smokers - though everything looked freshly laundered. We didn't realise the hotel restaurant is closed on Mondays, and so took the last bus down to Berchtesgaden for our meal (reasonable price, good quality) and took a taxi back up to Maria Gern. We ate the next night at the Gasthof, and the food was just OK. The staff were nice enough, but the whole place feels like it is a bit unkempt and run-down.

Review 5：The wee village of Maria Gern (really just a fabulous pilgrimage church and the Gasthof, plus a couple of houses) is in a lovely location up a valley, with a short climb to grand views up into the mountains of the Berchtesgaden National Park. We loved the free access to hourly buses up and down the valley, and the walk to Berchtesgarden township is a lovely one in fine weather.

Review 6：1. The bedding was inadequate . We are not big people but the inability to tuck in the doona ( Duvet ) meant it often fell off you at night. Also the pillows were very thin so you had to double them to get your head up off the bed. If you were over 6 ft the length of the bed would be an issue. 2.BE AWARE THAT MARIA GERN IS ABOUT 25 MINUTES WALK ( DOWNHILL ) FROM BERCHTESGARDEN - MORE IF YOU WALK BACK TO MARIA GERN. THERE IS A FREE BUS THAT RUNS REGULARLY ( ON THE HOUR APPROXIMATELY ) BUT A CAR IS A REAL ADVANTAGE.

Review 7：1. Good size room . 2. Great evening meal at very reasonable prices. Breakfast was reasonable without being outstanding. 3. Good value at 140 euro for 2 nights ( including breakfast but excluding taxes ). 4. The family owners were friendly and helpful. 5. Parking is free and the GPS had no issue in finding it.

Review 8：The only bad part was having to leave. We stayed here for 4 nights and wished it could have been longer.

Review 9：Where to start?!! This was our favorite lodging on our 2 week trip to Germany. Between enjoying the spectacular views and the tasty German fare at this delightful hotel, we also traveled to Salzburg for an evening dinner and concert. The hotel was alive with colorful flowers everywhere and the entire staff was friendly and helpful. Our rooms were very comfortable with modern amenities such as wifi. We absolutely loved Hotel Maria Gern!!

Review 10：The location of this hotel is fantastic - it is in the middle of the beautiful countryside surrounding Berchtesgaden. It is ideal if you like hiking. The spectacular lake Konigsee is only 10km away and easily accessible by car or bus. The staff at this hotel were very friendly and helpful, and the food was also excellent. The room was comfortable and had a balcony with a very picturesque view.

Review 11：Too far to walk to town. Breakfast should start at 7 am instead of 8 am.

Review 14：The location is absolutely gorgeous--it doesn't get much prettier than this! The staff is excellent; they were extremely friendly and helpful. Francesca speaks English very well. This family-run guesthouse was the perfect Alpine retreat for us. Little extras like the signature chocolates when we checked out were a nice touch. Breakfast was very good. We greatly enjoyed the live Bavarian music on Sunday evening. We'd absolutely stay here again!

Review 15：Only 6 places in guest house car park. Other parking spaces down the hill were difficult for older people. Sharp gradient of hill to climb.

Review 19：No Wi-fi in room. No elevator & no one offered to help with luggage. 7 kilometers away from old town which necessitated expensive parking fees. The bus stopped running in very early evening. Breakfast was very basic. When cold cuts ran out, much before breakfast ended, they were not replaced. Towels were so threadbare, that when held up to the light, One could see through them.

Review 22：very quiet location in nature, basically no traffic and as family run traditional "mountain" hotel it was very pleasant to stay with home made style food in very good quality and large portions. rooms were cleaned each day. if you travel by bike the hotel is in hilly terrain so be warned :), but you get a nice bonus of free bus card in the hotels (managed centrally by the berchtesgaden community so might vary year to year if policy changes) and bus stop is just about 50meters from this hotel.

Review 23：Tranquil location, stunning scenery, good food, friendly owners, Bavarian atmosphere. Great walking paths nearby. Well situated for exploring Berchtesgaden town and park and also Salzburg.

Review 24：The location is perfect for a restful, peaceful vacation. It is close enough to Berchtesgaden to be convenient to all the sights there, but it is quietly isolated in a beautiful valley, surrounded by mountains. The rooms are basic, but clean. The views from the balconies are awesome. The staff are friendly and helpful. We spent six nights there and were entertained twice by live bands in the evening.
