Reviews for Destino Sur

Review 1:Would have like a little more accessibility to the spa as I really liked it but it was often booked when I wanted it.

Review 2:I enjoyed the physical layout and wooden structure of the place as well as the friendly atmosphere and very helpful staff.

Review 3:Not much choice for Lunch items. Especially when you are stuck there because of bad whether ... no warm dished and the staff was not flexible on perhaps helping out - apart from that absolutely amazing Receptionist ! Thank you - you made our stay special !

Review 4:The Receptionist (male), sadly don't know his name, went out of his way to help us. Whether it was with bus tickets for strange times, Dinner options within the town or just helping us get a nicer vegetarian Lunch at the Hotel! He almost went into the kitchen and made us the sandwich himself! Thank you

Review 5:Little far from the bus station, but it's close to the trails so.... Toss up

Review 6:It's the fanciest and probably most expensive place in town, but it's undeniably gorgeous and luxurious. Excellent breakfast too. Worth a splurge if you have the money. We did one night here at the end of two weeks backpacking for a special end to our trip. It was nice.

Review 7:We wish there were feather pillows.

Review 8:Large clean room with control over the heat in the room. Large comfortable bed. Nice spa to use after a long time big hike.

Review 9:wifi was very slow

Review 10:spa; size of room and bed; warm and comfortable so you couldn't hear or feel the strong winds in the area. close to the end / start of hiking spots; staff were excellent and went out of their way to help organise walks and activities

Review 11:Able to easily reach trail heads from hotel. Within walking distance to restaurants and shops in town. Dinner in the Destino Sur restaurant was a pleasant experience.

Review 12:Room was a bit dusty when we arrived. Internet was not consistent and didnt always work in our room.

Review 13:Internet spotty but decent given you are in Patagonia. Staff very friendly. Breakfast very good with option for scrambled, fried or hard boiled eggs. Seems like a fairly new hotel compared to everything in town. Good value.

Review 14:It was hot while we were there, and there was only one window that could be opened. There was no air conditioner, so it was uncomfortably hot in the room, making it difficult to sleep.

Review 15:The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel has light, inviting common areas and our room was large with a nice bed and bathroom.

Review 16:The staff did everything to make our stay perfect! The hotel is new and beautiful, very very clean all the time, perfect location close to the beginning of hiking trails, the restaurant serves delicious food and the free breakfast is the best that I've had in all of Argentina! I would definitely come back here again, it was the perfect place to relax in between the hiking in Chalten!

Review 17:Far overpriced you can find better at EL chalten.

Review 18:Very nice building and interiors

Review 19:Nothing really wrong

Review 20:The location

Review 21:Shower spontaneously went cold for a few seconds

Review 22:Very friendly and helpful staff

Review 23:We had a great stay - the staff was helpful, we were able to walk everywhere, enjoyed the sauna, the breakfast. It was great.

Review 24:Food was just ok.

Review 25:Great staff

Review 26:poor wifi

Review 27:staff were helpful. Bar and restaurant were good, breakfast being excellent

Review 28:- noise from hallways - breakfast (really below par)

Review 29:- location

Review 30:On entend tout de qui se passe dans le couloir...comme à la maison

Review 31:Ambiance chalet Chambre Spa Personnel adorable

Review 32:Staff very helpful, maxi confort We really enjoyed out staying there !

Review 33:Breakfast service was a bit disorganized, many items out or waiting to be replaced throughout breakfast service. Including coffee ;)

Review 34:Great rooms. Lovely spa you can reserve for private sessions for free. Walk to anything in town.

Review 35:Hard to say but if I had to pick, would be nice to have wifi in all rooms as well as communal area.

Review 36:Beautiful rooms, rustic feel but still modern. Friendly and helpful staff especially for non spanish speakers.

Review 37:Food in the hotel restaurant was good, price very reasonable, service very good - but no one ate there, so it felt a bit strange.

Review 38:Good location, very comfortable rooms, good large bathrooms, stylish hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. El Chalten is a great place for walking and staff very helpful with routes etc. No need to feel awkward in dusty clothes and boots. A surprisingly luxurious hotel in a remote small town. Loved it.

Review 39:Restaurant management needs improvement (breakfast - food not put out until people arrived, dinner service slow)

Review 40:Helpful front desk staff. Lovely room.

Review 41:The personnel in charge it is a real problem. It seems they are the enemies of the owner and are looking forward to give a bad service. The traveller feels as if they are asking them for a favor to be served. The girl who was at the breakfast service on February 28th, March 1st & 2nd was very slow and seems to be really boring and annoyed for doing her work. The coffe was just warm and always had to wait for reposition of stuff. She wasn't proffesional at all. Cleanliness is definitely the weak point: One day the only thing that was made up was the bed. The towels we left on the floor to be changed, were still there and the bathroom wasn't cleaned up. The floor wasn't mopped in four days of staying. In general a poor service. A pity because the hotel it is really cool and could have been really cozy.

Review 42:Mariano the receptionist was really kind and helpful. Always with a smile. The decoration has a really good effect but the staff it is not prepared to host travellers. The hotel urgently needs professional people to attend the traveller's need's.

Review 43:The bathroom smelled horrible the whole time we were there (6 nights) - some sort of plumbing drainage issue.

Review 44:The food on the dinner menu was amazing!! The bed was very comfortable. Staff were great.

Review 45:It's a shame that there is no place to sit outside which would be wonderful!!

Review 46:We liked the friendlyness of the staff. Everybody was very helpful. Breakfast was delicious as well as dinner. We enjoyed it very much. Thanks for everything Barbara and Andreas from Switzerland

Review 47:Not much atmosphere. Check out receipt printed on the back of a list of other occupants names and details! Not very professional.

Review 48:Spa, cleanliness, quietness

Review 49:Elevator and restaurant were both out of service.

Review 50:This is a new hotel in an excellent location. The front desk was very helpful in providing information regarding hikes and restaurants.

Review 51:Room cleaning must be improved. Room cleaning service did not match hotel price. Slow and never cleaned the whole room.

Review 52:Free sauna and jacuzzi. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast and cosy rooms.

Review 53:Nothing.

Review 54:Everything: room is very cute, spacious and decorated with great design and colors. Bathroom is huge and clean. Staffs are very helpful. Free spa is offered and the facilities are great. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Location is also very good, near one of the trail heads and many good restaurants.

Review 55:You can get eggs and bacon with breakfast for free...but it's not advertised and you have to ask. Seems it should be more prominently displayed.

Review 56:Based on what we saw in El Chalten, the two nice hotels are Destino Sur and Hotel Los Cerros. Destino Sur holds a special place for me because it has an enormous indoor hot tub that you can reserve in advance. We had two days of hiking in the awesome next-door national park and, after 8-10 hours of stomping about, could walk right in and luxuriously soak in the tub with a bottle of wine.

Review 57:Very nice hotel, cosy and clean, big rooms, good beds. Spa comes at no extra cost. Very helpful and friendly staff, did help us organising excursions as well as buses, hotels and ferry. Best wifi in town.

Review 58:Hair in our food, broken door locks, construction, no reliable hot water, heaters that didn't work, unhelpful staff and poor customer service, not at all worth the cost of the room.

Review 59:Bed, room size, and location

Review 60:rather poor breakfast offered; walls are not soundproof (which will make you wanna get up early to enjoy the day:-))

Review 61:absolutely marvellous design, wooden style like a mountain cottage, friendly & helpful staff, rooms are nicely decorated too, offering splendid views if weather plays along:-)

Review 62:book the spa! it's a great way to relax after hiking to Fitz Roy. The front desk staff was incredibly helpful and the hotel is located next door to the best restaurant in town, El Muro. We went twice!

Review 63:A little far from the center of town but an easy walk when the weather is cooperative.

Review 64:Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful and spoke English fluently. Really enjoyed being at the hotel. Would highly recommend it.

Review 65:The staff was wonderful and spoke English very well. My husbandcelebrated his birthday while we were there and they arranged for abeautiful cake that we came back to the hotel and enjoyed after ourdinner along with delicious tea. Breakfast was one of the best we hadduring our 2 week stay throughout Argentina. Rooms were very clean, butwe had to reserve two rooms because they cannot accommodate a family of4 in one room

Review 66:WI FI Signal poor

Review 67:The guy at the reception was really nice. Nice rooms.

Review 68:I liked it all

Review 69:Terrific front desk pros-friendly and informative guy, and efficient and helpful receptionist..

Review 70:Cosy hotel, well situated, close to mountain pathways.

Review 71:nothing

Review 72:bedroom bathroom very comfortable, clean, and quiet. breakfast and dinner food very good. Their rib eye steak tastes excellent.

Review 73:Great place, amazing staff, superb breakfast... We had a great, great stay. Plus, the jacuzzi after a long day of trekking was just the thing to do

Review 74:Poorly located to the town center - 20 minutes round trip multiple times a day was annoying

Review 75:Very nice, comfortable rooms

Review 76:The rooms where moré than basic, more like a youth hostel than a hotel worth over usd150 a night!

Review 77:The spa and personel

Review 78:Position , friendly and professional staff. Great pleace , feel like home

Review 79:very friendly and helpful staff

Review 80:Incredible staff and right next to the trailheads. What more could you ask for

Review 81:The staff was very kind and if great help.
