Reviews for Savoy Hotel

Review 1:Staff weren't terribly interested in helping me find the museum I wanted to visit, or use the pool, or anything that wasn't just getting me into my room.

Review 2:The pool and sauna are a nice touch at the top of the hotel. Location can't be beat.

Review 3:The general area outside the train station is getting worse by the year though that's not the fault of the hotel. The location is fine to just stay for a night and move on. The authorities should be cleaning up this part of the city and getting rid of the various scumbags and the like before it gets any worse.

Review 4:- Hotel needs a fresh up - Beds were bad - Sauna is only warm in the evening - there is a lof of noice from the street

Review 5:- nice size of rooms - Nice swimmingpool with a view - Okay bar - Good breakfast

Review 6:pool, bar, close to the irish pub which is around the corner less than 30 meters, i have read many of the reviews here. i think the trick to staying at this hotel is to pay the little extra for a comfort room, these rooms are i am guessing on the higher floors, the renovations seem fine. it is next to the train station and as with all big city stations there are going to be beggars about, i felt completely save between the hotel and the station even when coming back after a few beers, this really was good value for money and would not hesitate to stay here again

Review 7:Value for money. Not sure this should be a 4 star, room was old and in need of repair. Bathroom not clean, lots if dust. Staff not very friendly.

Review 8:well placed near main station and nice walk down Kaiserstrasse to city center

Review 9:Not a big difference between other 3 stars hotel and this 4 stars. Same tiny rooms and bed

Review 10:Good location near the the train station. As mentioned in the presentation: free wifi

Review 11:The attitude of one of the front desk staff member . The short guy ( I think Indian or Pakistani ) . I mentioned origin for identification Purpose as I don't know his name . He is arrogant and rough in dealing with customers . Due to his attitude I shifted my last night in Frankfurt to excelsior hotel . I have never come in my frequent travels to such a front desk staff member attitude with his customers. I don't think I will use this property again

Review 12:Thier breakfast

Review 13:Receptionist must be one of the most ignorant people i have ever met, why he's working as a hotel receptionist is beyond me,

Review 14:Good location, decent value, stayed here many times

Review 15:Interior of rooms and facilities are too old, Carpet are old and wire hanging on the floor. no air-conditioner only heater and heater in the room are broken no controller to turn up and down. Not right to be classified "4" stars.

Review 16:Location and Free Water from dispenser

Review 17:Free wifi but you need to purchase package for the Internet. Thus, Internet isn't free. Very noisy since tram lines run just in front of the hotel.

Review 18:Walking distance to the Frankfurt Main Hbf

Review 19:Since the rooms are not sound proof, on the lower floors there is sound disturbance due to the trams and traffic

Review 20:Excellent proximity to Frankfurt Hbf and very good buffet breakfast with lots of choices for vegetarians

Review 21:location very near to the main train station, free drinks in the refrigerator, generous breakfast with great variety, swimming pool with free towels available, nice to relax in the sauna with view to the skyscrapers

Review 22:The hotel is very old and needs some renovation. The carpet was horribly old and dirty. The same for the sofa . The room smelled as if it was a smoking room for the last 50 years. Horrible experience.

Review 23:The onlypositive thing is that it s close to the train station.

Review 24:Mattress is a bit softer.

Review 25:Very good location, friendly and helpful staffs, well equipped with hair dryer, fridge in room, facilities like swimming pool.

Review 26:Very noisy. It's just in the middle of all means of transport. Homeless Romanian crowd outside the hotel do not impress at all and give rather unsafe feeling than welcome.

Review 27:Location was great: just a few minutes away from the main train station, a 15-minute walk to the famous shopping district, and a short walk to the Main River. Getting to Frankfurt Airport was also easy and inexpensive: an 11-minute ride with the S-Bahn, starting from the train station. Our room had a mini-fridge, stocked with complimentary beverages.

Review 28:I was disappointed that the Savoy had no restaurant operational and a limited range of pizzas at the bar.

Review 29:The convenient position of the hotel ie the short distance from the rail station and a short distance to my meeting venue.

Review 30:I booked a double room (a bit higher price) for myself, because it is 4 sq m bigger. These 4 sq m matter in a hotel like Savoy Frankfurt, because rooms are tiny. The size of the room is in the description of the website, including booking.com. Upon arrival I got a single room, and the guy tried to assure me it is the one I booked. I checked the information in my reservation and told him about that, showed the pictures, but didn't help. They were lucky I stayed only one night before the flight and I was too tired to argue. I don't even care about the tone of the employee, but what the hell? Why do you say one thing on booking.com and reality is totally opposite? Why do I reserve a more expensive room, if in the end I would get the single?! It was extremely unpleasant experience, and it is not 4 stars hotel, neither by facilities, nor by service. The cleanliness upon arrival is ok, except the peanuts on the floor (how would the maid miss it? well, it happen anyway). For the bathrobe and sleepers I had to call to housekeeping (it's annoying at the hotel, which gave itself 4 stars). I asked not to charge the card, because I paid in cash, yet they tried to charge it BEFORE I showed up. Guys, you do such things around midnight, when you sure 100% it is no show! Didn't they teach you at your trainings? The hotel itself is morally old, the carpets are poor, specific smell in corridors. The cherry on top was 1st floor when I asked for the high floor, but I get that - there were no worse single room to please me with.

Review 31:the girl on reception is nice and smiling

Review 32:False advertising on the gym. There were no weights or weight machines. No mats. Steam room was mildewed. Massage table broken. No coffee maker.

Review 33:Location. Nice bed and baby crib. Fruit and water at front desk. Sauna. Good room service food.

Review 34:Sound proofing of the hotel is not sufficient. We could hardly sleep during our stay because of the noise in our neighbouring room.

Review 35:The location of the hotel and close proximity to the frankfurt main station.

Review 36:The hotel should have at most 2* rating. The carpet was dirty, ceilings in the room and bathroom had water patches from the leaking roof, bathtub was chipped and water would not drain, the wardrobe door hinges were damaged. Apart from a soap and shampoo dispensers there was nothing else that you would expect in a 4* hotel. TV did not include a single foreign language programme. The personel was unhelpful pretending they did not understand what I was talking about. The price of nearly EUR 300 a night was a rip off.

Review 37:1. The whole amount of my booking was blocked on my credit card right after I made the booking, despite they say card won't be charged and is only to guarantee the stay. 2. My room was on 8th (last) floor and there was a permanent unavoidable noise coming from something like centralized conditioning system on the top of the building. To sleep well there you need to be drunk (which is no problem as there is a nice irish bar nearby :))

Review 38:Clean, friendly staff, good location.

Review 39:Although being close to the train station was convenient, there were so many beggars and groups of people, it felt decidedly unsafe.

Review 40:Pool and fitness facilities very good

Review 41:The area itself has a bunch of homeless, etc (because of the train station).

Review 42:The distance from the train station is convenient (if you look past the quality of the location), they had elevators. Room were decent, but I did like the black out shades made the room 100% dark which is important for me to sleep well!

Review 43:Allegedly a 4 star, but the room could use a renovation. Old curtains falling appart, windows not isolating the noise, blinders broke, and bathtub clogged are not what can be expected from such a label. Beggars in front of the building seems to be also a normal thing

Review 44:well located near the train station

Review 45:very small room. if you decide to take shower in the bath tub, you should be not taller than 1,65. poor toiletries.

Review 46:2 minutes from central station, city center 10 minutes. comfortable bed.

Review 47:Staff(a lady) in reception was very unfriendly on 18th sep. Straight face no smile during checking out. It seemed some very bad things happened to her 5 minutes ago. It was very disappointed.

Review 48:less than one block away a lot of migrants hanging around who have made a permanent abode near the hotel. This spoils the comfort level for visitors.

Review 49:Location very good as far as where the hotel is situated - railway station nearby; Frankfurt Messe ten minutes away by walk and a lot of supermarkets & eating places nearby.

Review 50:The reception lady that was checking us out could not manage to call the taxi, waited for 10 minutes and then she said we need to go to the main station and find the taxi ourselves :( The hotel itself is pretty outdated, the furniture is like 30 y.o. the carpets are used out, and generally it was not giving a feeling of a comfortable place to stay.

Review 51:The reception guy who was checking us in was really nice, the breakfast was perfect and the location is very good as well.

Review 52:The bed was not comfortable, the towels, though clean, were gray and the breakfast was overpriced for what they offered.

Review 53:The location is very close to the train station and that was a plus.

Review 54:Great staff.. hotel was a little old.

Review 55:Swimming Pool, Excellent breakfasts! Close to Main train station Downtown location close to tourist sites and shopping

Review 56:The grumpy night porter who was not happy that I needed to wait somewhere safe while I was due to travel by shuttle bus at 2am and didn't want to wait up in room 411 as my friend needed to sleep for her early 5.30 call. I ended up having to leave the lobby at 1.15 and waiting at bus stop for one and a quarter hours.(Sat 29/8 midnight onwards)

Review 57:Loved the pool!and spa area. Liked the hotel's close proximity to city centre, bahnhof and airport shuttle.

Review 58:Well.. Savoy Hotel 4 stars??..I dont think so...a area is full of beggars and drug addicts. Rooms at the back of the hotel we hear a lot of noise ... you can hear the TV from next room and people talking in celular..e party in the next room at the end of semana..e the maids in the morning knocking on your door even with the not disturb sign on the door. Not to mention the noise of a construction next to his window ... a nightmare !!

Review 59:I can not find anything ..

Review 60:Shower was an old tub with a shower head, As the tub was off the floor, I had to stoop a bit when taking a shower. No big deal for a night or two, though.

Review 61:Good location near the main station, friendly staff, clean comfortable room. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment.

Review 62:What kind of hotel doesn't have Climate Control. It was muggy swampy and gross in the room and it wasn't clear this didn't have any modern amenities.

Review 63:Location in relation to HBF

Review 64:Overcharged us big time. Two nights charged upon booking - 28.7.15 - $281.22. On the 27.8.15 charged again $ 366.35 for a one night stay. Total credit card charges for one night in a 3 star hotel 27.8.15 - $ 647.57. You must fix this.

Review 65:it says it gives a bath tub in my room. but there was no bath tub. i booked this hotel only because of the bath tub. i called the reception and asked about it but the man said it is only "wish". sometimes with it and sometimes without and the price is same. in the booking . com, it says clearly you have a bath tub in the room. after all day working outside and i looked forward to taking a bath… it was a big disappointment and even the man in the reception who explained it was pretty rude.

Review 66:You have to pay for breakfast and the internet. Old smelly and dirty carpet in the rooms and hallways. Poor isolation. No air vent in the bathroom. A bad pillow that could have used some more stuffing.

Review 67:200 m away from the train station and within walking distance to the river and the old town area. The room was relatively clean and nice. The receptionist was nice enough and gave us a 48 hour wifi pass free of charge. Sauna and covered swimming pool on the roof top for those rainy days.

Review 68:The wifi was pay per hour (not free as advertised), and housekeeping attempted to come into our room 3 times in the morning before we checked out. It would have been helpful if housekeeping had coordinated with the front-desk to clean AFTER we had checked out. I was also somewhat shocked at the four star rating as it more closely resembled a three star hotel.

Review 69:Overall, the hotel was clean and located very close to the main train station, which was convenient for our short stay.

Review 70:* the hotel charged in my credit Card as soon as i did the booking even i have Been chosing the option to only pay when stay there. * the hotel offers the service to store luggage but do not guarantee their security and not even offer any control of them, becoming possible to someone take the wrong luggage nu mistake. * fridge in the room was dirty as well as the bathroom not cleaned adequately.

Review 71:Location

Review 72:The staff kept locking the door and I specifically told them I don't want to use the lift. They also didn't tell me that I had to pay for the air conditioning and the room was boiling hot. I had a terrible experience at this hotel. The breakfast and waiters were the only thing I liked at this hotel.

Review 73:The food and location was good

Review 74:Very noisy location - especially in a hot day like the one we stayed and we had to sleep with the windows open, since there was no aircondition. No hot water in the morning

Review 75:very convenient location

Review 76:Not a 4* hotel .No air condition and the wi-fi it was functional just in one divice and not in 2 . That what we demand from the beginning of check in .

Review 77:The position. Is situated very near to all the tourist attractions and near the principal streets with food and bars. Excellent position !

Review 78:With no ceiling fan or air conditioning, we had to have the windows open. There was a lot of road noise and street car noise. There were no restaurants nearby but was only a 20 minute walk to the old city with lots of restaurants.

Review 79:Loved that it was close to the train station and the old city. Just a couple blocks from the beautiful river with a walkway to the old city. Also was across the street from the Rhine River Cruise office and we had a tour.

Review 80:If u want to spend ur nitghs in a hell , book at this hotel , it's not more than 2 stars ,, the bed is terrible , the aircondition is disaster ,, the staff never smile

Review 81:The lift (elevator) is too old. TV is kaput (not working). Generally speaking facilities are old.

Review 82:The location is superb. Just 3 minutes walk to the main station. And 15 minutes walk to the high streets of Frankfurt. The lady at frontdesk is very friendly. Breakfast is good.

Review 83:Old hotel. Supposed to be a non-smoking room on a non-smoking floor, but the room smelled of cigarettes and had an ash tray!

Review 84:Breakfast is very good !! and the location is very close to the main train station

Review 85:at night the area is not very pleasant

Review 86:localization, downtown area, in front of main railway station and 10 min walk to river area, public parkink free during the night

Review 87:Very noisy if your window is opened. The price of the breakfast at15 euros per person (with champagne or similar) but then themeredien hotel which is next door charges 39 euros per person. Thequality of the linens on the bed was not the best. No bellboys tohelp with the luggage.

Review 88:The location is excellent as it is across the train station and in frontof the office offering excursions plus next to metro and trolleys lines. The pool area which is rare in frankfurt with a nice view. The free wi-fi. The free beverages offered in the refrigerator in our room by thehotel - this is very rare and very appreciated. Overall clean but do notforget that this is an older hotel so it is more difficult to have afresh look as it has been repainted, recarpeted, repaired etc. thefruits and water offered free of charge in the lobby. Brochures onfrankfurt available. Many restaurants in the area. Very good price forthe value as this is a 4 stars rated hotel ( but more a 3 stars inreality). Most staff was friendly especially in the bar.

Review 89:If you book your room using Booking.com, you are suppose to get free wifi at this hotel. However, even when I asked at check-in if the wifi is for free, I was told that it was not. Next time you check in, inform the reception that you made the reservation via Booking.com

Review 90:The location is perfect if you have to catch a train, or staying for one night. However, the area is a bit dodgy, with lots of homeless people milling around. There are many restaurants nearby.

Review 91:I stayed with a friend and wifi only worked on one device. We ended up having to share a laptop because only one device could work.

Review 92:Free drinks in the mini bar.

Review 93:Staff who were irritable and devoid of basic service instinct - which means something more than giving you your room key.

Review 94:The bar man who was kind enough to give us as much ice as we wanted to cool our drinking water.

Review 95:surly check in offer to "upgrade" to a/c room during heatwave room was claustrophobic pool closed at 9pm even tho there was a heat wave in Frankfurt

Review 96:excellent location across from main station swimming pool on top floor with view of Frankfurt

Review 97:Just like the other hotels in the vicinity of HBF the hotel has a lot of small maintenance issues (rugged carpets, chipped paint etc.)

Review 98:Good location, airco, good breakfast good bed, good servise

Review 99:I would be concerned about security - when I forgot my keycard in my room, I went to ask reception for duplicate so I can get in, they asked only for room number and did not want to even know my name.

Review 100:Very good price of the room and breakfest was excellent.

Review 101:No air conditioning in +40 weather. A colleuige of mine checked in after me and was offered an upgrade. I was not. By the time he had checked in all the rooms with ac were gone. The housekeeping staff piled all of my things on the desk to get a head start on cleaning the room before I had checked out. The front desk manager had nothing pleasent to say and was in full support of the burnt sewing needle they provided in the mending kit, and the over all uncleanliness of the hotel. When ice was requested they said they didn't have any. The water supplied in the lobby was always out and the pool was dirty.

Review 102:One of the front desk staff was the only person who attempted to help me. Apparently a hotel close to the train station will never go out of business. Sad really.

Review 103:the breakfast each morning was excellent. The room very clean. The location excellent. The fact that the hotel had a pool, sauna and steam was also very nice to relax in at evening time. The bar was also nice for a drink in the evenings!

Review 104:After an apparent computer glitch, the staff insisted inappropriately about an open invoice. This was totally out of place for a frequent guest.

Review 105:The sauna and swimming-pool, right next to the train station.

Review 106:The night we stayed (20 June) and it was a Saturday night, we could hear loud banging and screaming by men on the doors on the same floor. This continued for about 30 mins. That was around 2 am. And then at 5am, it happened again.

Review 107:We were given two rooms in one when we book a twin-bed room. It was spacious and we were able to open our luggage on the floor.

Review 108:Bed was too soft and sagging inside. Located on the main road, sleeping with open windows is not a good thing to do with the noise from the street.

Review 109:The hotel was well located, close to the Bahnof. Check in and Checkout was very smooth and internet was good. Room was also neat and well maintained. Decent breakfast

Review 110:internet connection is very bad if you open with one PC , you are not able to use an phone ,switch off between is difficult if not impossible

Review 111:location superb

Review 112:Despite several requests the in-room safe was not re-set. I had to use the facility in reception which was an inconvenience. The rooms are very tired and general the hotel looks like it needs some TLC..My bathroom was grotty.

Review 113:Breakfast was very nice.

Review 114:Old design and accommodation. Very expensive regarding the prestations.

Review 115:Stayed a night for the ACHEMA show. The hotel is 15min walking from the Frankfurt Messe. Good cleanliness.

Review 116:The streets around Haubtbahnhof are full of drunks and vagrants it didn't feel very safe.

Review 117:Very convenient location, if a little close to the sex district. Easy walking distance to the Old Town and the shopping districts.

Review 118:THEY GET CREDIT CARD APPROVAL AT TIME OF THE BOOKING EVEN YOU BOOK THE HOTEL 10 DAYS PRIOR. SO YOUR MONEY STUCK YOU CANT USE THAT MONEY.

Review 119:LOCATION IS PERFECT

Review 120:Roma gypsies sleeping and camped beside hotel . Begging if you sat outside to have a drink or a smoke .

Review 121:Location . Breakfast . Happy Hour for cocktails 5pm to 7pm

Review 122:When we were there a band of gypsies had camped out begging by the entrance to the hotel, which is not their fault.

Review 123:The hotel was friendly, courteous, and with great amenities (pool, sauna). We did not have the breakfast buffet because it was extra so we cannot comment on the food. A comfort room means it is air-conditioned. The price was great. The hotel is just across from the train station. The rooms were a bit bigger than most European hotels I have stayed in.

Review 124:the area of the hotel is not safe, the rooms are in a pretty bad state and the water system had many failures during my 2 day stay. also the heating was off although it was 10 C° outside. the overall structure need a refurbishment

Review 125:the location is good if you have business to do in the city.

Review 126:I arrived at 22 from Munich exhausted.Got my room and saw the Dustin bin full of rubbish.I called reception no answer.Put the garbage out with the promise later to have clean dustbin.8 o'clock in the morning still the rubbish there.I put a do not disturb sign on the door hopping to get more sleep. Then came the housekeeping Indian lady and knocked on my door. After I politely asked her that the sign was there, she asked me what time I would leave.Shower was cold, telephone to reception not answered and I went downstairs to talk to the reception.Met the same housekeeping who asked me what time am leaving. This hotel should not have any star on it

Review 127:Front rooms are uber noisy as close to the main station and the trams rush, clank and groan nearly all night long, and you need to open the windows for fresh air. Very basic hotel. Less than helpful staff.

Review 128:Location, location, location. Right across from the train station, so a good starting point after arrival. Basic hotel in a rather dodgy area, but nothing you haven't seen before and still safe. Close to old town and good for walkies to lovely riverbank. You can find good fresh food at the station before you move on to the rest of your holiday. Clean and serviceable, but don't stay long. Jumping off point only.

Review 129:We had two separate bookings for consecutive nights. While checking in they said that's fine, you can stay in the same room for both bookings, just come down and get the electronic key re-activated. Of course when we came down the next day, "sorry but that room is booked, you'll have to move".

Review 130:The hotel is rated as a 4 star Hotel, but that is over rated, rooms are old, two single beds are weirdly located, shower is made for people not bigger than 1.5m the room is simply old, needs renovation. If you didn't get a free wifi package you will end up paying too much money. The breakfast is rediciulously expensive, 15€ for a standard breakfast?! All you need is to go around the corner and you can eat as much as you want for far less than that.

Review 131:the Hotel is located around 100 meters from the main station, if you book the room with free wifi you are saved. The deal I got was fair for the price but without breakfast

Review 132:The area, though convenient, is a little bit seedy.

Review 133:Convenient location near main train station and reasonable walking distance to main attractions. Good wifi - there are signs saying you have to pay for it but if it's included in your room rate, just ask for the code. One code per device.

Review 134:- room was very small and old, needs renovation - shower is together with bathtube (as usual), however if you're 1.80m you won't be able to stand in the bathtube - the ceiling is way too low - I asked for an extra pillow and they simply forgot to bring it. when I came back late at night there was no one at the reception to ask - for me this is more like a 2, max 3 stars hotel

Review 135:- pretty close to the central station - price (had an offer for 1 night on the weekend) - we didn't check the pool, so can't judge that

Review 136:the staff at the reception could be more friendlier and add a smile on their face especially when knowing that there are dealing with tourists and afterall a 4 star hotel. The hotel needs to do some renovation work with exception to the reception area and bar.

Review 137:I extended my stay for leisure and The room rate I paid was really worth it. I had forgotten my bathing suit, what a pity. The hotel has a swimming pool. I would return there.

The Fine Print

On weekends and public holidays, breakfast is available until 12 pm.
