Reviews for Gästehaus Alpina
Review 1:Some noise from the trains, but it was ok. If you want to explore Berchtesgaden by walk, the hotel could be a little bit on the outside of the city (but for me it was ok).
Review 2:The staff was friendly, the hotel is located direct to the railway station, free parking slots for your car, breakfast was also ok, free internet.
Review 3:We arrived around 10 am (just to leave the luggage), but there was no one at the reception desk until lunch time. Shower place is not cleaned thoroughly. The entrance of the hotel is too closed to the highway (little dangerous when getting back to the hotel at night, limited light near the highway). For now, cards are not allowed to pay, cash only.
Review 4:Staff is very friendly. We found water kettle available for the guests.
Review 5:Place is squeezed between railroad and mountain, room are noisy because you have literally 7 m from railroad rack .Only 3 parking place , and rooms are very small ,bathroom also .
Review 6:We liked it so well, that we regretted having to leave the next day.
Review 7:It was located close to Berchtesgaden, but was outside of town so it was mostly a quiet location. The breakfast was good and the family who runs it were able to give information relative to local events. They provided free bus passes, but we had a car, so we did not need them. The train does pass by every few hours, but it did not really bother us. We will stay there again.
Review 8:Useful local transport cards are provided. 5-10 min to the train station, closer than hotels in the city center. Very good breakfast.terrace. Nice staffs.
Review 9:Right next to the train tracks. The train goes by between 7 am and 11 pm
Review 10:Gästehaus Alpina was being painted and the rooms were not available. The owner put us up next door at her cousin's gaustehaus. It was good and comfortable.
Review 11:Matress is too soft. That's the common issue for Europe Hotel/Hostle. A little bit noisy because it's very close to the train station.
Review 12:Nice host, breakfast is good.valuable Close to train station
Review 13:No elevator , Bathroom too small, Too near the high way and railway track. From train station to hotel is only 500m or less and it was on the same side of with train station. But because it is on the highway you cannot walk directly to the hotel otherwise you find yourself walking on the highway with the cars coming from behind you at very high speed. To reach hotel, 1. from the train station you need to cross the road to the river and walk along the river until you reach the hotel. 2.When you reach the opposite side of the hotel you need cross the highway to it.using you own judgment and speed. Because there is no zebra crossing or traffic light anywhere near the hotel . This make crossing very difficult and dangerous for peoples with luggages n kids especially on the weekend when the traffic is heavy and vehicles travelling at a very high speed.
Review 14:Breakfast is good, friendly staff.
Review 15:The staff is very warm-hearted, the hotel is very colorful and quiet, providing delicious and plentiful breakfast, location is not far from the train station, especially fit for those who drive on their own.
Review 16:Bathroom not spacious; It is quite dangerous to cross the highway; No reply from hotel after enquiry for late check in.
Review 17:Staff was very kind; Great breakfast.
Review 18:The staff was a bit short in the way they interacted with guests. The location is outside of town (although you can still walk to the village, but there are no street lights near the guesthouse so it's a dark walk!)
Review 19:The rooms are clean and comfortable and the place is easy to find.
Review 20:Unconfortable bed. Position of Gästehaus is rigth next to tram lines. Train was very noisy.
Review 21:Gästehaus staff was very kind. Breakfast was also very good.
Review 22:As mentioned on the booking site, no WiFi, close to a road / railway station and no credit card payment.
Review 23:Friendly staff. Simple, but clean room. Bathroom not spacious, but with a good shower and all you need.
Review 24:Squeakiest bed and floors I ever been exposed too.
Review 25:This was an easy walk from the train station. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Being given a local bus pass was an appreciated bonus that was unexpected.
Review 26:The room (2nd floor) not very comfortable. The pipes in the bathroom made terrible noise when we or the room next door used the water at the sink or shower. The pension is right next to a railway with trains passing by day and night. It's also far from the city.
Review 27:The breakfast and the staff were ok.
Review 28:the location is a bit far from bestesgarden bahnhof and it is quite dangerous to cross the highway...
Review 29:staff is very helpful and friendly. breakfast is good.
Review 30:We booked a double bedroom at Gastehaus Alpina, but instead were given a single room in the adjacent guesthouse, with an extra camping bed squeezed in. The room thus became extremely cramped, the mattress of the extra bed was far too soft and uncomfortable, and needless to say, being a couple, we weren't looking for two separate beds of different sizes, that were not even possible to be put next to each other. Apart from this, the guesthouse is right next to the main road, and the noise of the traffic was very strong even with the windows closed.
Review 31:one of our rooms was smelling. and the balcony was closed as repairs were going on. No toiletries were provided and the towels were pretty ordinary . breakfast was average
Review 32:it was near the rly station , the hostess was very helpful
Review 33:1. Website does not provide walking directions from the station and they are not intuitive to a first time guest. Had to go into a nearby optician to find out where it was. 2. They will not take credit cards. Really? In a tourist magnet like Berchtesgaden?
Review 34:I liked the location: Walking distance (with large suitcase) from the rail station. Building was well-maintained and the owner was present and attentive. Breakfast provided the basics and the coffee was excellent.
Review 35:May be towels n bedsheets can change daily. But not happening.
Review 36:I like owner attitide. She is friendly. Room is clean. Budget rate. Bfast is nice. Guestcards fr free travel.
Review 37:As with all German hotels on this holiday the pillows were diabolical, unable to sleep on. They were lumpy and had no stuffing in them.
Review 38:Friendly staff, good location
Review 39:Trains passing by window constantly sound horn til midnight then started again around six am. Did not read or see this in reviews. Staff were friendly and helpful
Review 40:Proximity to town
Review 41:Location: right next to the railway track and a fairly busy main road. In the evening the road/railway crossing is quite dark.
Review 42:Rooms and the building are in good condition, and good quality comparing to price.
Review 43:the location is rather crazy for people with a big suitcase, have to drag the suitcase along the road with busy traffic to the hotel and it's very hard to cross the road as the cars are all very fast.
Review 44:Good bed, hygienic room
Review 45:Hostess was brusque, bordering on unfriendly; decorating was weird, not in line with the Bavarian B & B's we'd visited. Crossing the highway to get to/from the lodging was dicey.
Review 46:Location for public transit and hiking; room was comfortable, balcony nice; beer and water sold in lobby.
Review 47:As most of the people pointed out, it is little tricky to cross the road- a mirror on the other side would help. Our room had an older look and no balcony, but we had a view of trees without facing the road. Someone might find a whistling train to be disturbing, but we did not.
Review 48:It has a great location, not far from the train and bus station. Buses go from there to every popular place in the area. The breakfast was very good (bread, cheese, salami, jam, honey, boiled eggs, tea, juice, coffee, cereals, yogurts). Heating was on even at the beginning of May as it was cold outside, so we were not feeling cold. The hotel had a fridge with beer in the lobby.
Review 49:This guesthouse needs new linen, we stayed 2 nights and towels were changed even though left on floor, pretty poor standard in towels
Review 50:It was in a good location and good breakfast
Review 51:Not a single thing.
Review 52:The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The room is very clean and it's 5 minutes' walk to the bus station to Koenigssee. Breakfast is excellent and the hotel provides free pass for the bus. Everything is perfect!
Review 53:There is a train rail right in front of the house and it' a little bit dangerous to cross the road. No wifi.
Review 54:The house is near Berchtesgaden's central station. Breakfast is included and it's good.
Review 55:No wifi connection, it's sometimes a problem when you're checking for some transportation stuff.
Review 56:No wifi connection, probably a good thing I suppose. Allow you to sit down and have a real talk with who you really care.
Review 57:Our room was over looking the train tracks which were quite busy. Since it was winter we had the windows shut and were able to sleep with ear plugs in but I could imagine this being an issue in the summer time. I requested a nice view and received this room which was a little disappointing since it was my brothers first time in Germany. I was hoping for a mountain view. There is free parking but it is limited and very small so don't expect to park a SUV or van there easily unless the place isn't booked out.
Review 58:The staff was friendly. I was able to speak some German to them but not sure if they speak English. Check in was very easy and the breakfast was rolls and cold cuts with coffee and juice. The location was about 1 mile downhill from Berchtesgaden. It is easily walkable if you are in good condition and you are located near the bus station if you need to take it around town.
Review 59:We had booked an appartment via booking, however when we arrived, the lady said that other guests did not leave the appartment and thus we could not move in. She said that she reserved us a comparable place in her cousin's house. Afer getting to ther cousin's place and filling out the papers, we were shown to a super small single room. The cousin said she did not know that we had booked an appartment and that was all she had. We refused to accept that "offer" and went back to the guest house Alpina. The lady said she did not know that her cousin was going to offer us such a small room...What a mess!! Afterwards the lady showed us a double room that we could have (why did not she do it in the first place?!), which was acceptable if you just want to crush on your bed and don't intend spnding more than one night there. As no other hotels were available, we decided to stay one night and leave Berchstesgaden next morning instead of staying for 3 nights as planed initially. If you think that the lady applogised or made us any kind of special price, you are wrong. Location: as you surely already saw in other reviews, the guest house is located just next to the road and the railway. In winter the noise is not much of a problem (as you dont keep your windows open), but the snow definitely is! The pedestrian path was fully covered with snow when we were there and thus you have to walk on the road whenever you go to the town. Note, that although the town is not too far, you will have to climb a pretty stiff hill. To summ it up: search for another guest house if you really wanna enjoy your stay in the area!! I don't think I have ever had worse experience in Germany!
Review 60:The best thing about this hotel was leaving it after spending there one night
Review 61:Nothing what really matters if you want to feel yourself good!
Review 62:The owner lady is very friendly and helpful!A charming person!I would even work for her gladly! :) The Guest Cards are very useful, you can reach Salzburg,Bad Reichenhall or Königssee with bus for free!Breakfast was great!Shops(REWE,LIDL)are in a really short stroll distance! We spent a wonderful Christmas in Berchtechsgaden,we'll be back!
Review 63:Could not get internet. Hotel offered it but could not connect.
Review 64:The breakfast was very good. Proximity to town and Koenigssee very close. Had a problem with our bedsheets but was taken care of right away by owner. Owner was very eager to please.
Review 65:The room is well decorated and really clean with a lovely balcony where we can enjoy the mountain view during smoking time. The owner is warmhearted. She kindly waited for us as we arrived late.
Review 66:It's 10-mins walk from the Berchtesgaden station, but it's kinda dangerous to walk on Ramsaur St.. The cars drive fast and it's quite dark at night.
Review 67:The hoster of the guesthouse was very rule to us when we arrived at 7pm. Suggested to call the owner in advance if you planned to arrive later than 6pm.
Review 68:The guesthouse seem owned by a married couple. The hostress was very kind to us. She packed full breakfast for us we checked out early in the morning before the service time.
Review 69:The host arranged our room to her cousin's gastehaus, the next buliding. Thus we don't exactly know how it is about Alpina. We know her cousin's guest room is very very small. But it's clean.
Review 70:The breakfast is good.
Review 71:It's on the roadside of a big road and you have to get across the road to reach the pension. The cars are really fast so it's quite dangerous.
Review 72:The apartment-room is big and tidy, really comfortable and quiet. The breakfast is hearty, with lots of choices. The hostress is warm and friendly:)
Review 73:- it's quite danger getting across the road. - stuff won't let us use the toilet after checking out.
Review 74:- I have a good view from my room. - breakfast is nice - they provide free transport card
Review 75:very musty smelling sheets and towels- so much so that it was hard to sleep asked for a room without too many steps for grandma and she was placed on 2nd floor (which = 3 flights of steps) could only pay cash train sounds horn right in front of building several times a day and a couple of times at night- very, very loud.
Review 76:owner rearranged rooms at no extra cost when rooms we reserved weren't available gave us cards for discounts in town clean bathroom safe parking
