Reviews for Hotel Monopol
Review 1:The bad, problematic connection of the WiFi in the room. The location which is very close to the station but in a bad reputation area.
Review 2:The polite behavior of the personnel, the comfortable, large rooms, the excellent breakfast and the free use of the mini bar.
Review 3:Nothing
Review 4:The location near the main train station and shops and restaurants nearby. The people at the Reception, warm and friendly Lovely breakfast spread. A warm cup of coffee and cake slices near reception as you step in from the cold.
Review 5:Breakfast not the best. Staff in breakfast room non-existent most of time and not friendly.
Review 6:Great hotel. Great location right beside Hauptbahnhof, ten to fifteen minutes walk to city centre. Close to cafes, restaurants and shops. Should be noted though that some of the streets around Hauptbahnhof are dodgy, particularly for single women. Nice, clean room. Good-sized, comfortable and very quiet. Good breakfast but far from best I've had in Germany. Friendly, helpful staff at reception Free Wifi which worked though sometimes slow. Free minibar of non-alcoholic drinks in room. Free coffee, mineral water, orange juice and cakes in reception. I can very highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay on any future stay in Frankfurt.
Review 7:Nothing bad to say about the hotel but the area around the central station is as uncharming as the hotel is charming.
Review 8:The location - my main purpose was to be near to the central station, and this is as near as you can get. The main lobby, bar and restaurant which put you into a time and place warp. The quietness and the comfort of the large room. The low price, which I suspect was due to my last minute booking with prepayment on a slow day.
Review 9:The manager was rude unhelpful and lied to me when I pointed out that I had changed which credit card I needed to use the day I booked on the website booking. His people skills were none existent He said he'd already taken funds when after he left the receptionist asked me to sign a credit card slip. The room maid didn't clean my teacup and replenish the tea and milk tray.
Review 10:It was clean and breakfast was fresh.
Review 11:The street didn't feel entirely safe, but I had no problems.
Review 12:Very near train station. High ceilings. Quiet. Big room. Good breakfast included in price. Reasonable price.
Review 13:Older hotel but everything was there as it should be: clean room, good bed, room bar free of charge, very fast WiFi, rich breakfast. Very good location - close to the center. Very good cost/quality ration.
Review 14:Interior of the elevator did not match quality of the rest of the hotel. WiFi is ok but not fast.
Review 15:Free minibar Salmon at breakfast Central right next to the most important hub in germany, over 1700 trains goes through the train station every day(!) Bed was pretty good
Review 16:1-Area near Houbonhoff is not good for family 2-Although mini bar is free, but do not take it as an important factor, it is only 6-8 small bottle that you can buy it for 5 euro from grocery! 3-It is an old hotel and seems 3 star! 4-No safety box in rooms 5-Breakfast is average
Review 17:1-Location is just in front of train station and good if you arrive or leave by train , but overally this area is not good for staying specially for familly and I recommend to stay in Houpwatche area 2- Most of the time there is snack in lobby 3- Staff very helpful
Review 18:Friendly service and additional pluses: complimentary minibar, fresh fruit in the room, complimentary welcome drink, refreshments available in the lobby. Very good location next to the Hauptbahnhof.
Review 19:Tired and old. Breakfast spread doesn't change.
Review 20:Location. Opposite train station. Breakfast comes with rate, and free mini bar which is very well stocked. And we love the long bath.
Review 21:Right across from the main train station, it can not get any better than that, excellent choices for breakfast and well organized, wonderful employees, comfortable rooms and 12pm check in. Another detail, free minibar in the bedroom and a selection of tea, coffee, pastries and apples in the lobby. Free wifi
Review 22:Everything was great.
Review 23:Close to Xmas markets and perfect for shopping and eating out. Transport links to hotel are excellent and Xmas markets are about a 10 min walk away.
Review 24:Very good hotel, wonderful breakfast in a very nice room. Very nice sitting room with bar. All day long refreshments at large entrance! If not for the external environment, this hotel would be much more expensive! However, very convenient,, right across the train station. Our second stay already.
Review 25:They may put one of that cheap slippers in the room.
Review 26:Near to the central station. 12-15 minutes walk to the center of the city. The room was clean and comfortable.
Review 27:walls were very thin so woken when people walked through corridors/ doors banging. Slightly tatty finishings and bit outdated but this didn't bother us!
Review 28:Great free mini-bar which was refilled each day! Free cake and refreshments available all day. Great selection for breakfast and friendly hardworking staff!
Review 29:The behavior of staffs was very nice. The room was clean and comfortable. The fridge was full of free drinks and everyday refill again. The location is excellent. The breakfast was so good and serves from 5 AM to 11 Am At the reception hall, there is a table to have free snacks and hot drinks during the day for your comfort. Never seen such hotel with this kind of management. also the location is in front of railway station and metros.
Review 30:Breakfast was very good. staff friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is very good. Prices are very good compared to the service. free minibar. :)
Review 31:No issues or problems.
Review 32:A hotel that recognises its place in the market and goes all out to offer great value for its modest price. A refreshing change from higher priced ones that deliver less.
Review 33:The hotel is a bit historical and may need refurnished.
Review 34:Perfect location, close to central train station, easy access to metro to different places. Mini bar free of charge, bottle water, juice provided.
Review 35:Nothing, although the building is not quite as elegant as it probably was in the past.
Review 36:Excellent easy to find location especially when arriving by train at the Central Station.
Review 37:Hair drier equipped in the room. It can be a bit more powerful or ordinary one for home use...
Review 38:Very convenient location, next to the Main station, for transportation, sightseeing, and eating-out.
Review 39:No coffee maker in room but they had coffee available Near reception untill 6:00pm. Old style hotel and smaller room size. Wi-Fi did just okay job.
Review 40:Location is perfect. Across the road from main station. Free mini bar loaded with 2 regular size cola, 2 regular size juice, 2 beer and water. Decent continental ( including some noodles, rice items for Asians and samosa and paratha for Indian) breakfast.
Review 41:Friendly staff Clean even though it is an old building Perfect location, accross the traim station. 10 minute walk from downtown. I greatly recommend it
Review 42:Room had no stunning view.
Review 43:Liked the comfortable beds and spacious bathroom. Great breakfast. Surprised that minibar was FREE, also variety of Newspapers. We stayed at this Hotel before with similar experience.
Review 44:Spotty wifi. Tobacco smell in my room on arrival, but did not specify smoke-free room, and this can hardly be blamed on the hotel.
Review 45:Great central location, nice decor. Great value for money. Free minibar - can't beat that!
Review 46:Nothing.
Review 47:The receptionist is a very nice person. Actually, all their staff are very friendly. Facilities are decent, very convenient location, too. Just walk distance from shopping areas, a few stops from Museums.
Review 48:Shabby Doors didn't close properly
Review 49:Quite shabby but still nice and comfortable hotel near main station Very good breakfast (including Japanese specialities, as there are many Japanese tourists)
Review 50:Mattresses were more firm than we are used to and the staff left the window open after cleaning the room with the outside temperatures between the thirties and forties.
Review 51:Breakfast buffet, free mini-bar and WiFi, and the staff was very helpful.
Review 52:This year the carpets in the room we were in had been removed. They now seem to favour bare floors which are not nice to walk on barefoot. Also, we had only 3 dining type chairs in our room so we could not relax in the evening. There used to be a couple of armchairs in the rooms but these have gone. It meant we had to go downstairs into the foyer to get a comfortable chair to sit in. Each time we had a shower the floor flooded despite the shower curtain being inside the bath and every effort taken to avoid leakage. Not sure where the water was coming from in the end.
Review 53:Very helpful multi-lingual staff. Excellent location for a city break in Frankfurt. Our room was at the back of the hotel and was very quiet at night. This time the breakfasts were hot so well done for that!
Review 54:its location, staff service, room facilities satisfy our demands, specially afternoon coffee and tea ,soft drinks and beer are good ,also free , surely this hotel is my priority when we visit Frankfurt (M) in the next time.
Review 55:Noisy doors, quue a disturbed sleep.
Review 56:Great position near the train station. Lovely welcome fro check in. We were early ( before11am) and she sorted our room out straight away. Triple room, comfy beds and good shower. Tea and cake available downstairs and you were welcome to take to room. Free beer, water and soft drinks in room fridge
Review 57:I had requested for a street view room at the time of booking, unfortunately even after the confirmation at the time of booking, i was not provided with the STREET view room
Review 58:Although its not the fault of the hotel, the surrounding neighborhood has little to offer, aside from the train station and airport connections.
Review 59:Charming, old fashioned hotel, right near train station. Good sized roms. Large tubs in the bathrooms, most welcome after hours on a plane. Nice bar, serving passably good food. Good value.
Review 60:The structure and arrangement of bathroom is a lil bit unreasonable. But I guess that's becoz it's too small.
Review 61:Breakfast, Internet, the attitude of stuff. Location is really convenient to everywhere in city.
Review 62:1 Bathroom in the single bed room is very small.
Review 63:1 The spacious Reception with through out the day coffee, juice and fruits. 2 Clean rooms 3 Good spread of breakfast
Review 64:Proximity to railway station and drop off point for hire car. Easy rail access to airport. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast and free mini bar were excellent.
Review 65:We were there only one night and we did not have a bad experience with the room or the staff, but the hallway outside our rooms smelled a bit like urine. There was no safe in the room which I found strange being so close to a train station with its transient population
Review 66:Close to train station it is an old fashioned hotel with a nice lobby The room we had was clean and large. The mini fridge had some drinks even beer which were complimentary. . This is a hotel with an old school feel not the ultra modern look of some hotel chains. Breakfast buffet was ample
Review 67:old bulding, Terrible surrounding (it is located just beside the train station). The rooms are so small and should be renewed.
Review 68:reasonable price considering the location (but I bought a last minute offer, regular rate would be totally overpriced for this place). Free Sky TV (but very small TV in the room) and free minibar in the room
Review 69:The neighborhood was seedy, but that is not the hotel's fault. The convenience to the train outweighed the seediness.
Review 70:Everything was pleasant and easy. The breakfast was excellent. The location near the Hauptbahnhof could not have been more convenient.
Review 71:cracking hotel for a business trip. The rooms are clean and it's well staffed. Free beverages in the lobby and a complimentary mini bar in your room are nice touches. Excellent WIFI and the breakfast is absolutely fine. If you're looking for a proper breakfast, go next door to the sister hotel Excelsior where you'll be welcomed like Mr Creosote.
Review 72:My room smelt of stale cigarette smoke. No shampoo or conditioner provided in bathroom. Decor could do with a refresh!
Review 73:Helpful staff. Free wifi and mini-bar. Very close to train station.
Review 74:While the room is outdated, it was clean, comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was excellent with a lot of variety. There were several free services included such as good Wifi , and the drinks in the minibar.
Review 75:The price we got was much higher than some other guests paid for the same period and same type of room. Its surprising that the booked the hotel also at the same time.
Review 76:The location is very good for business travellers, train station is just accross the road and taxi standsis just outside the gate.
Review 77:Neighbourhood is decidedly iffy. Hard to find a decent restaurant.
Review 78:Lots of freebies. Free minibar, fruit, coffee and cake in lobby, welcome drink. Nice spacious room. Convenience of location if you travel by train.
Review 79:The toilet was really small. A larger person would have struggled to use the facility.
Review 80:The staff at check in and at check out were efficient and helpful.
Review 81:Our experience was very pleasant nd positive. The staff were efficient, helpful and pleasant. Close to Hauptbahhof. Easy access to all transport. Would recommend this hotel.
Review 82:So quiet until family with young children took room next door and the kids sounded loud and unruly. Not hotel's fault- bad parenting
Review 83:Super clean. Had refrigerator. Absolutely no street noise.
Review 84:The location is not especially nice, but it's a short walk to the centre and if you're using the main railway station it's perfect. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast pretty decent.
Review 85:As a four star hotel the faculty might be a little bit old. Wifi is not stable on my laptop and ipad (but worked fine on cell phones). On one night there was a strange bad smell in our bathroom.
Review 86:Location is super great. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I give full credits to them. Very professional and polite. Breakfast is abundant. Room is big and clean.
Review 87:It's very small and so is the bed.The air in the room may be not fresh as the window is closed.but if it is open, small flyings will get in and thus the temperture was a little high.the price is 67.??Euro per night.
Review 88:improve all this weak points.
Review 89:the weather in August & september is hot no ice no fan and difficult sleep . And bathroom in single room very very small dont suitable with rent . Also wifi of internet is very very bad .
Review 90:My room didn't have air conditioner, but this is not a big deal.
Review 91:Despite others saying negative things about this hotel, I found out this is a good hotel. The location is superb!
Review 92:Opposite train station. Central location for shopping, sightseeing or attending exhibitions. Rooms were clean and great for a base to explore Frankfurt. Breakfast was varied with plenty of choice for everyone. Free minibar, wifi and afternoon coffee are an added bonus
Review 93:A bit of a challenge to actually find the place (because it's in the pedestrian precinct) but well worth the effort
Review 94:Wonderful hosts, couldn't be more charming or helpful. Excellent facilities, have already recommended this place to others.
Review 95:Shower floor slippery. Mat should be provided. Charming old hotel, but could corridors in need of refurbishing
Review 96:Location, friendly staff and value for money
Review 97:No air conditioning and the room was so hot - too hot to sleep when with widow open and a fan going...
Review 98:Friendly staff, good location close to train station and shops. Wonderful to have fruit and refreshments available throughout the day - much appreciated!
Review 99:Value for money with a lot of extras included. The room was large and comfortable with a large ensuite. We arrived at 11am and had no problems with an early check in. Great location - just across the road from Frankfurt Central HBF.
Review 100:Area around the train station isn't the nicest and being a lone traveller I did not want to venture out after dark.
Review 101:Great location for main train station and not far from airport. V helpful staff, clean and great value.I was pleasantly surprised.
Review 102:During our stay with hotel Monopol, the temperature was 32 degree Celsius, it was quite hot without A/C.
Review 103:Great location, free Mini bar for drink, even beer
Review 104:The building, the furniture and the interior are quite old. (Well, there's no problem with it though, all works fine.)
Review 105:Location, Free minibar, Quite room, Size of the room, Really delicious orange juice for breakfast, Free breakfast (starts from 6 AM)
Review 106:The hotel is on a busy street, it was a bit noisy during the night, we needed the window open as it was very hot and the hotel did not have air con.
Review 107:The location, excellent value for money.
Review 108:Rooms & lift & furniture & general conditions of the bathroom needs a decoration i guess as you feel you living in a 1990's and the parking is overcharged 20 euros a night comparing the hotel fee
Review 109:Free breakfast and free minibar was a generous of the premises which was kind
Review 110:Small and sofocating room without airco while 38 degrees outside. Bathroom not very clean and small basic room for a 4 stars hotel.
Review 111:Breakfast was really good and also seved very early for early birds
Review 112:The free minibar, wifi, and breakfast were a nice touch. The building was very pretty and the location was perfect as I was only staying one night and the train station was just across the street.
Review 113:very, very stuffy and warm in the room with no air-con but you do get a fan in the room.
Review 114:Staff were very helpful and room was very clean, free mini bar as well!
Review 115:Room was very hot, and I got quite overheated during a prolonged self-pleasuring session. Management requested that I wear clothes in the common areas, despite the warm conditions.
Review 116:Good location near a street with affordable prostitutes, and wifi was handy for viewing adult content on the Internet. Very absorbent paper towels in bathroom.
Review 117:Great location right across the street from the train station. Staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast had a wide variety of choices that offered breakfast items from many cultures.
Review 118:Room rather basic though bathroom very nice.
Review 119:Breakfast, mini bar & wifi all offered as free options. Excellent location just across the road from the south entrance of Frankfurt main station.
Review 120:not bad as such, but want to know why people at breakfast are always so miserable, maybe not the time of day for them? The one girl on has improved from the previous stay, but only marginally, I think Tomoko should show her some customer service skills. Coming back again, let's see if it's third time lucky.
Review 121:The reception when you arrive and depart, especially if Masud Arasto is there, so good to see him. Also Tomoko Sonobe, excellent service warm and professional. The whole package at the Monopol is really good.
Review 122:some cosmetic is worn off like the tap cover is missing but it is overall atill alright.
Review 123:it is near to the train station. and the staff is very friendly.
Review 124:Having to get dressed in the middle of the night to go down to desk fora coffee,as they have taken the tea making out of room, not very good ifyou cant sleep .
Review 125:Nearly everything
Review 126:In our room ( 271) was poor internet connection . Cost of parking big enough ( 20 euro / day) .
Review 127:Good location , near the train station and close to the old town .Ask for a room overlooking the courtyard , it will be calm and sleep well . Spacious room , large bathroom , minibar with free drinks (water , juices , beer ) which was fed daily. Breakfast buffet with a wide variety of products included in the price . In the afternoon , juices , tea, coffee, fruit and cake in the hotel lobby . Underground parking is available.
Review 128:Room Size was horrible. The single room that was given to me was so so so small. Felt claustrophobic. There was no hot water kettle in the room. The Tea/Coffee and snacks were available in the lobby. Had gone during ACHEMA Exhibition and consequently the prices were sky high not worth at all. Note for Vegetarians : Limited choice but have good choice of breads and cakes.
Review 129:The location was good opposite to the Main Railway Station and easy access to two tram stations. The staff was very courteous and spoke English. The minibar and Wifi are free. Wifi speed is also decent for regular work such as checking emails and booking hotels.
Review 130:Even though the location is right by the Hauptbanhof, which was great (especially after a long day's travel) on the other side is the Red Light district and I wouldn't advise going out at that point. The breakfast was good, except for the salmon. I'm loved everything else, but the salmon. Also, the walls are a little thin, but not bad. Bring ear plugs because the chance of sleeping with the windows open is usually preferred.
Review 131:I loved everything about the hotel! It was located right by the Hauptbanhof and quite easy to find. The staff members were definitely friendly and the gentleman that checked me in on July 9 spoke several different languages. It was definitely a pleasant thing to hear. Also, the fact that the drinks in the fridge were free to drink was a wonderful thing to hear. Of course, I was in disbelief until I read the sign for it. I appreciated the breakfast. It was a bigger breakfast then I was used to.
