Reviews for Alpenhotel Weiherbach

Review 1:The staff weren't very friendly or helpful and the swimming pool was freezing cold.

Review 2:Really nice hotel - big rooms, beautiful, quiet location and a lovely garden with play area for the children.

Review 3:I feel the restrictive check in time is difficult especially if your plane is late or the traffic is bad any one thing can delay u. we did call and drove faster than we like. AS it was they were there checking in others. I feel 7 pm would not hurt they do live on the premises.

Review 4:I loved the swimming pool and jacuzzi area. Really well done.

Review 5:We had a lovely visit. The room was comfortable, spacious, modern, with a great view! Breakfast was wonderful. Very friendly staff! Lots of restaurants nearby. We enjoyed walking through the town. Lots of vistas and great views of the mountains nearby. Good location to visit Hitler's Eagle's Nest.

Review 6:Only after non-refundable payment do you get notice by email that 1) there is no check in after 6 PM sharp. Too bad if 1 minute late - you will lose your money AND not get a room. 2) Check out is 10 AM sharp; 1 minute late and you will pay an extra day's rent. Pool atmosphere is so hot, steemy and chlorinated we didn't use it.

Review 7:Especially liked owners help in giving us DIRECTIONS and tips of sites to see and where to dine. Even downloaded our boarding pass on there private computer, printed it too!

Review 8:Unfortunately I was mislead about the room size. It was an efficiency apt when all we needed was a nice room for two old people. The owners were extremely nice accommodating our wishes and we moved into a smaller room which was pretty big anyway but on one floor. The bathroom in the other room was downstairs. Wireless didn't really work all that well. Also, it was in the country and a bit of a drive down very narrow roads.

Review 9:Very clean. Great breakfast. Owners were very accommodating changing our room when we asked if this was possible. Very homey atmosphere.

Review 10:I had to pay fully in advance. If I had to cancel, even months in advance, or did not turn up, all of the cost would have been lost. I think this is unfair. Other hotels I booked allow cancellation with penalty charges depending on the time before the booking date.

Review 11:Good and quiet location. Staff were helpful and friendly. Within walking distance of the town.

Review 12:Buses only run till a certain time in the evening and without a rental we had to walk up a large hill. That was the worst part of this place, all in all not that bad.

Review 13:The staff was very friendly and even though we had to leave before the checkout time, they worked with us to make that happen. They even knew what time we wanted a taxi there in the morning and it was on time.

Review 14:The curtains are not thick enough if you want to have a late morning.

Review 15:Nice tranquil location. Ideal location for visiting Eagles Nest, Konigsee and Berchtesgaden salt mines. Good breakfast and spacious rooms.

Review 16:The check-in and check-out time are inconvenient for us. It is very strange and unfriendly to charge for little kid (1 year old) when they don't providing the crib.

Review 17:Somewhat inflexible check-in hours. Walk to town takes 20 min downhill going and uphill coming.

Review 18:Good location if you have a car. Wonderful clean spa pool. Clean rooms. Cute alpine decor & styling. Friendly staff.

Review 19:Many restrictions on internet, sauna, coffee, etc. The owner greeted us without a smile, as if annoyed. Not sure why but think we were there close to front desk's closing time. Her unfriendly vibe altered our Berteschgaden experience. When only there for a short time, it was impossible to find the owners and ask them for something or figure out their process before having to leave again. For example, we noticed a microwave so our son (age 10) brought home extra food from a dinner. He was excited to eat it later! But when we went to heat the food, it was locked, with a lockbox on the cord so that we wouldn't use it. Also, our kitchenette was off limits to us and there was NO coffee avail in the rooms. So odd. that's the treat of a hotel room. Secondly, her direction for us to get into town were short, snippy, and condescending. Her ""five minute" walk was up and down hills (fine), not lighted at night, and took us (we hike a lot) 25 mins. She made us afraid to ask more questions. Lastly, the internet situation there is poor. We tried to buy online tickets to the salt mine and to find other local sights for the next day and kept getting kicked off the internet. Again, when there for only a short time and traveling around Europe, it's a big deal to have working internet so you can quickly get the local info you need. All the other hotels provided easy and problem free internet. On our trip, we stayed in a total 8 hotels and this was the worst. We are easy to please. This is my first written review, of any type.

Review 20:Beds were comfy, room was very clean, and breakfast was good.

Review 21:One small point .Lack of Tea making facilities in room (no kettle). Cold Beer and juice was available from fridges and a coffee machine with hot water but water not hot enough to brew tea,and difficult to access late because of lighting( after 10pm).Balcony ideal for a tea/coffee as well as a Beer or cold drink to enjoy the evening

Review 22:lovely quiet location away from town center + balcony with great views.Very friendly family and excellent swimming pool.Magical Ambiance as dusk falls.Useful sized fridge to perhaps bring home some food for a late meal on the balcony,Very high standards of cleaning

Review 23:The WIFI is not available from our room no. 40. also the location is not easy to get by the bus since it runs only once/hour. So it's better to go by car

Review 24:The room is very nice and the workers are very very nice and gives many informations.

Review 25:The hotel is lovely great views from the balconies. Free wi-fi (although it is a little bit spotty), free breakfast every morning, friendly staff. It is a little bit of a hike down to Berchtesgaden, but very easy if you have a rental car. also an easy drive to Konigsee. The rooms are very basic, no frills, but clean and with individual balconies.

Review 26:Wifi is for only one device. Connection is very patchy; very difficult to even do any browsing. Need to connect late at night to have any decent speed. No AC on hot stuffy days and nights. Pool only open until 7:30pm. Too many restrictions and rules.

Review 27:The pool looked nice, but unfortunately we only were able to use it once because it closes early. It would be more useful if it stays open later so we can use it after a full day of site seeing.

Review 28:Free wi-if limited to one account per room

Review 29:Very pretty location amongst meadows / farmland. View of The Eagles Nest from our balcony. The indoor leisure facilities were very good. Delicious breakfast, especially the coleslaw. Walk in to town is about 20 mins through pleasant countryside.

Review 30:Value for money: small bathroom, no air con, expensive in comparison to other hotels we have stayed in.

Review 31:Friendly hosts, cleanliness, good choice at breakfast. Good location for walk into Berchtesgaden.

Review 32:Makes you feel u r a part of the Alps tradition with a family touch. Very kind welcoming and helping staff. Really enjoyed everything.. Excellent Breakfast ...

Review 33:- wifi signal 'patchy' - no evening meals so a 15 minute, but very pretty, walk into town

Review 34:- quiet - good size rooms - views, especially onto Eagle Nest - facilities, especially the pool - secure parking

Review 35:Internet access didn't reach rooms - only available in public areas

Review 36:Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely environment & great places to sit around the hotel's grounds. Very clean facilities. We enjoyed the table tennis table!

Review 37:Very restrictive check in times made it tricky to schedule our arrival before 6 pm. This is

Review 38:The view from our balcony was fabulous. Also, the walking and hiking trails just outside the hotel were beautiful and provided a perfect morning and evening walk.

Review 39:Frustrating that the staff is not reachable after 6:00 pm, and there is need for more parking places!!! Didn't like having to pay for additional wifi codes...

Review 40:Beautiful room, great location, fabulous breakfast! And very friendly and helpful staff!!

Review 41:But, Did not like the limited check in hours which did not allow for train schedule. Ending up paying for an extra day which we were not allowed to check in for and had to pay for another hotel room.

Review 42:The location was perfect, the grounds were beautiful, the apartment amenities and size were a bonus, the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 43:Parking was a bit tight. No restaurants nearby and therefore the car or taxi was needed to get a evening meal.

Review 44:Proximity to the Eagles Next which was the main reason for visiting the area. A clean and tidy hotel and we had a very spacious room with a balcony and a nice view.

Review 45:Great location, quiet and a short 10 minute walk from the downtown. Great Spa facilities, pool, steam, infrared sauna! Lovely family apartment, clean, and friendly staff

Review 46:Alpenhotel is in the country and there are no lighted roads. You must map your route to the hotel carefully. Even GPS can mess you up on the back roads.

Review 47:When traveling in Europe, especially away from large populated areas, finding excellent lodgings can be a coin toss. It pays to do extensive on-line research to find the best accommodations to fit your needs. This family owned and operated Hotel provides a wonderful respite from the day of exploring the neighboring country side. Though out of downtown Berchetsgarten, Germany, it is a 30 minute walk for the hiker or 2 minute drive for the family. Aplenhotel provides a wonderful breakfast with great views as well as apartments for those who have a tight budget. Relaxing play areas for children as well as a spa makes for a great stay. Staff speak English and know the area to help you navigate to all your favorite places. Remember to bring a GPS or rent one from your rental company. You will need it or good maps.

Review 48:We were staying in a self-catering apartment which was lovely, but downside was the cooking facilities, only a 2 ring hob. Could benefit from either an oven or microwave.

Review 49:Location was in quiet location, with great views of the mountains, and with a 15 minute walk into town, not too far for shops and buses. Pool and sauna facilities were good too.

Review 50:Loved the location, although slightly out of town, it was only a 10-15min walk along a lovely scenic path into the main square. Our spacious room & bathroom was super clean modern and fresh. Comfy beds, new sheets and duvets made for a very restful sleep. Great included bfast of cereals , meats, cheeses, crispy breads and pastries. Lovely friendly staff. Can't wait to return!

Review 51:We had two rooms, one room did not have wifi. Pool closed at 1930, a little early for us. No restaurants within walking distance and hotel did not have any amenities for drinks or snacks after breakfast.

Review 52:Nice sized rooms, clean, small gym and pool for early evening entertainment, great shower, friendly staff

Review 53:Only one included Internet voucher provided for one device. Extra €5 for additional devices.

Review 54:As we drove up to the hotel, I first thought it was a little too far from town..BUT, I was wrong. Hotel is only a few minutes drive or around a 10-15min walk along some beautiful hillside paths, passing lush green meadows & fantastic mountain views down into town. The hotel facilities and rooms appear totally new. Super comfy beds, hot showers, large rooms and some rooms with lovely balcony views. The bfst was great, staff lovely.

Review 55:Strict check in time. Strict sauna time only 430pm-7pm. strict pool time, closed at 7pm. I don't like having to shape my vacation around strict policies of a hotel. Wifi can only be used by one device. In all honesty if the booking.com website mentioned the strict sauna/pool times and wifi policy I would have stayed elsewhere. It's called customer service, where the patron is here to be serviced not the other way around. A family run business should not be about convenience for the family if the business is about leisure for it's customers.

Review 56:Sauna and pool areas very clean. we enjoyed being out of the city centre, it's very quiet. Room was comfortable and worth the price.

Review 57:The sofa bed in the lounge was not comfortable and the kitchen was tiny in the holiday flat just two rings and a coffee machine which needed filter papers and these weren't provided. Why not? That would have made difference to our first morning! We left the big box we bought for 0.70 cents in the flat in hope that no one else suffers their first morning without a coffee! Washing up liquid provided and t.towels and cloths

Review 58:The staff were lovely and very accomodating. We were given our deposit back the day before departure as we had to depart at 5:00am to get the Zeebrugge ferry. Very clean facilities and towels provided for the spa ( in room on arrival) saving space in suitcases!

Review 59:Minor - have to purchase wifi access for more than 1 internet device.

Review 60:Staff was very nice and helpful. Good location, good amenities, wifi worked well, breakfast was good. Heavy snow while there. Parking area was well cleared. Beautiful views in the snow!!

Review 61:The pool is nice but more of a relaxing pool than a kid pool. Sign says no jumping in pool and if you do you won't be allowed to use it anymore.

Review 62:Nice room, nice location.

Review 63:We wished they would offer some kind of evening meal, even a snack such as a Bratwurst, as there are no buses back from town in the evening and it's a demanding walk on a cold dark night. Only one free Wifi device is included so we paid for a second (only 5 euros for a week) but it's a bit annoying to be signed out and have to retype login details at such frequent intervals. Wish they would change settings to remember user.

Review 64:Location is out of town so good for car drivers but still fabulous if you don't mind a steep walk, about 20 mins from Bahnhof. There are a few buses but only in middle of day. Everything we expected from a good Bavarian B&B, plus indoor pool, sauna etc. Nice traditional style, friendly family business, excellent heating, gorgeous view from balcony. Drinks and fireworks at midnight on New Year's Eve (Sylvester) were lovely!

Review 65:Internet was not stable Parking was becoming an issue as parking space was constrained due to heavy snowfall

Review 66:The Family ambiance created by the Hotel owner around Christmas The friendliness, hospitality, cordiality and courtesy of all staff, including the room cleaners I was very impressed by the Christmas eve reading and singing.

Review 67:the location is on the montain, hard to find out, particully in winter snow, a taxi was more pratique for ours. Poor wifi, one room has only one key to contact, others person need to pay 5 euro each night/p, which had not mention in detail before we booking

Review 68:the room is very clearn and we have a balony, a nice place for vacance.the breakfast is very delicious, however no dinner at hotel is a little shame.

Review 69:The wifi was a little slow. The parking is tight. I did not like that my credit card was charged when I booked; I prefer to pay cash at the hotel. The pillow on the bed was very thin.

Review 70:Decent breakfast. Nice staff. Quite location. The hotel is not near the center of town and you have to walk through the woods/pastures for about 15 minutes. Bring a flashlight for the walk.

Review 71:No love for children. Children at any ages will be charged no matter even if no extra bed. And they will say "impossible!" for any reasonable requests in other hotel like change room or late check in or check out. Anyway bed service!!!

Review 72:The environment is ok.

Review 73:Should have stayed longer.

Review 74:Sunshine in the room on arrival. Room and bathroom good size. View was fabulous, very quiet. Breakfast was plentiful and imaginative. Great hotel, very friendly, obliging staff. Berchtesgaden was spectacular.

Review 75:Great location. Quiet and peaceful. Just ten minutes walk from the center of Berchtesgaden. Each morning I hiked down enjoying the wonderful views. Friendly and efficient staff. Ample breakfast. I will not consider any other hotel in future stays at Berchtesgaden.

Review 76:Unable to do late check-ins Pillows soft (I like bigger thicker pillows) Spa facilities a bit expensive

Review 77:Friendly staff Nice rooms Nice breakfast Good location Quiet area

Review 78:Bit far out but nice walk down to the village and easy taxi home,

Review 79:Lovely breakfast Discount card for free bus and reduced price car park Good value for Berchtesgaden Staff very helpful Well stocked tab bar

Review 80:Staff were hit and miss with friendlyness. Quite a long way from the main town without a car. Wifi was with a token username / password thing which is annoying, and one token for two people is a bit stingy. Make sure you ask about your deposit for the tourist cards back, as they won't remind you!

Review 81:Great breakfast. Good pool and sauna.

Review 82:It was too far from the main centre and we had to walk all the way back because of no public transport in the evening.

Review 83:The staff were very friendly and helpful with timetables of public transport. The facilities were very good.

Review 84:Staff - not welcoming or helpful Wifi - only 1 code for 1 appliance - very backwards in today's society. Expensive for the accommodation received - hardly an apartment more like a bedsit General inflexibility of place - apartment guests can't have breakfast, can't keep bus pass after check out even though we were returning to collect luggage :(

Review 85:Location

Review 86:small bathroom, expensive, poor staff availibilty, no way to find any staff for help after 7 pm. the guest letter in the room is really unfriendly. have to check in before 6 pm

Review 87:comfortable room, great view from balcony,

Review 88:Kitchen was very tight and in the hall in front of the bathroom and bedroom doors

Review 89:Nice hotel only an easy mile or so outside of downtown Berchtesgaden. 1 Bedroom with sitting room (convertible sofabed) was a little tight for family of 4 with 2 teenagers but could make it work. Appreciated modern bathroom, having a mini kitchen (very small space though), and the morning bread service. Wonderful spa and pool area, but mostly used by the older guests (my boys didn't go). Had a fitness area/game room too.

Review 90:Little bit far out from Berchesgarden. Had to get taxi back as buses finished early.

Review 91:Peaceful. Beautiful view from balcony. Could see the eagles nest. Clean well presented room. Helpful staff.

Review 92:Walking down into town wasn't a problem but a steep climb back. Taxi fare reasonable if you find the walk back difficult.

Review 93:Great views, nice balcony, quiet location, good breakfast, pleasant staff, good value for money.

Review 94:The hotel claims to stick strictly to the rule that no check-in is possible after 6 pm. This inflexibility amounts to extremely bad service.

Review 95:The hotel is good and staff is friendly.

Review 96:A lot of "not possible" make the confirmation email not so welcoming. You always have to make a call at reception to access the staff except somebody is checking in/out.

Review 97:Spacious and clean room.

Review 98:A tad far out of the town but, for me, this was more than compensated for by the fantastic views and the glorious quiet

Review 99:That the owner (Benno) took a lot of time to help me find my next hotel which was way above what a guest could reasonably have expected - and with great humour

Review 100:The staff is not there after 18:00 when you need them. You are on your own. This is not a hotel, it is more like a bed & breakfast.

Review 101:Breakfast was good.

Review 102:It was at least a 20 minute walk to the town, and up and down some hills. Not as convenient as we thought it would be.

Review 103:Other than the location, it was very nice.

Review 104:Great location and great staff. Beds a bid firm for my liking but that is a matter of opinion. WiFi signal was week. On the whole it was fantastic and I will stay there again if in the area.

Review 105:Alpenhotel is close to Bertchesgaden and yet in a very quiet spot, no traffic noise, just the sound of the babbling brook nearby and the birds. The breakfast was fantastic with so much choice.

Review 106:There was nothing I did not like.

Review 107:Everything. It was so clean. The staff was very nice. Had such a welcoming feeling and such a relaxing atmosphere. In the country but walking distance to main downtown.

Review 108:A long long walk from the train station if you did not find the bus 837

Review 109:Nice view of the mt. and great breakfast

Review 110:Poor staff.Poor location

Review 111:Quite room.Clean washing room.Good breakfest

Review 112:Breakfast was great. Very friendly and welcoming. Easy parking. Fun and relaxing pool

Review 113:Half hour hike to center of town for restaurants.

Review 114:Good service

Review 115:the weather!

Review 116:Friendly and helpful owners, spoke excellent English, provided great advice on options to visit in the area.

Review 117:Rural, yet very convenient to town

Review 118:Absolute no check-in after 6pm

Review 119:felt at home

Review 120:I was unhappy with the breakfast. There was very little fruit. other than this everything was very good

Review 121:Check in before 1800

Review 122:Fantastic location, very clean and classic German style of hotel. Staff were very helpful.

Review 123:Friendly

Review 124:Friendly staff, traditional European breakfast and majestic views of surrounding hills and mountains. We would absolutely stay here again.

Review 125:Views are out of this world and you can easily walk into Berchestgaden to access a plethora of restaurants.

Review 126:Quiet location just short drive from city center. Nice, bright and spacious room with big balcony. Excellent breakfast.

Review 127:Our room was extremely comfortable and had a balcony with chairs,so even though it was raining we could still enjoy the outdoors; beautiful!

Review 128:Breakfast not available! Location is difficult to get to.

Review 129:The people and the rooms were great!
