Reviews for St. Regis Hotel
Review 1:Very bad experience see anove
Review 2:Absolutely nothing freezing cold in the room or too hot cannot regulate the thermostat also no hot water not very pleased with the hotel very old needs renovation big time
Review 3:The fact that ppl still smoked so much on a non smoking floor ?.
Review 4:I liked the fact that there's a guard patrolling the parking lot somy car doesn't get broken into like another hotel that I stayed atin the middle of the downtown area.
Review 5:Having to pay for outside parking.
Review 6:Very close to MTS. You get what you pay for. Not luxurious but it's a convenient place to sleep. Historic building with lots of character.
Review 7:Very decrepit in some aspects of the hotel, things fallen into disrepair and a certain tenseness in the air. Also had someone banging on my door at 2 am.
Review 8:Great access to the downtown area
Review 9:The fact that there's only basic cable and my son couldn't connect his PS3 console to the back of the t.v because it was mounted to the wall and couldn't get to the back.
Review 10:We were there for Manito Ahbee and it was walking distance to the MTS Centre which was awesome. They have security and it being downtown I didn't worry about my vehicle getting broken into. And us trying to save money the price of the hotel was very reasonable.
Review 11:The area that it's in downtown isn't the nicest. The was no AC and the room I was innly had one window that opened, and there was no screen, so I couldn't open it because of bugs. There was a fan in the room, but it wouldn't be enough on a really hot night.
Review 12:Its downtown, so it's convenient.
Review 13:Really a dive. No entryway except a door onto the street where several "locals" hung out drinking and smoking, across from a public "health clinic". One elevator fit two people with two suitcases, or four people without. Room was labeled as non-smoking, but that could not erase the stuffiness and funk from what was surely decades of smoke. Very poor bathroom, the kind that used to be connected to a gas station. WiFi never worked. Had the Radisson or other places had any rooms, we would have moved (U.S.A. was playing in WWC)
Review 14:Location was fine. Near downtown attractions and the Radisson Inn for concierge, shuttle and meals.
Review 15:The staff are great but the fact that they needed a security guard kind of says it all. The location was perfect for us to walk to the mts centre and we parked under the library for $16 for overnight which I would recommend instead of the Regis parking. The place does smell of lingering smoke and some of the people hanging around outside out you off a bit but for one night it was doable.
Review 16:The hotel is very old and run down. It smells of cigarette smoke, has no air conditioning or window screens. The furniture in the room looks like it is from the 50s or 60s. It had a 20" Tube tv.
Review 17:The staff was very friendly and let us check in early, and it is right by a bus stop, which made getting to the game easy.
Review 18:The smell, the kind of guest, guests walking to their rooms with plates of food, empty and dirty dishes sitting outside the rooms, the employees didnt say hi or smiling, the elevator and the main glass entry door is dirty.
Review 19:The comfort of the bed and the quality of the TV.
Review 20:I was overcharged, asked to stay one night, but got charged for 2. Had to sleep in our clothes ontop on towels on the bed. Holes kicked in on doors, cigarette burns on the sheets, and other tenants fighting, smashing things all night. Did not have a pleasant stay.
Review 21:Nothing
Review 22:The walls had c.hips and cracks and were unsightly. The wifi was so slow that most times I could not do anything The furniture was old The tv was archaic and got very few channels. The staff at the restaurant were sooooo slow, even though it was not busy. One in particular could never get the order straight. Do not order scrambled eggs OR milkshakes.
Review 23:The bed/mattress was the most comfortable I have ever had in a hotel and I have been in a lot of hotels. I slept well every night. The bathrooms were clean. There was not a lot of noise in the halls. There was a restaurant in the hotel.
Review 24:Torn, soiled carpets throughout. Methed out people in lobby, hot water slow to poduce, dial up era wifi, door giggled from being kicked in at some point, the stench of desperation permeated from this place
Review 25:Towels were white, right downtown
Review 26:Heating system stucked on "MAX", we regulated the sauna-hot room by an open window.
Review 27:Location and price.
Review 28:Its so old
Review 29:Food
Review 30:The first room we got was a little to be desired and then had to wait for front desk for over one hour
Review 31:They have some cool rooms
Review 32:To loud at nights couldn't sleep till 5 am plus the door didnt look safe no remote for tv
Review 33:There is no wifi , and the beds aren't clean
Review 34:wifi very bad connection
Review 35:Low speed wifi
Review 36:Great location if you have deals in downtown.
Review 37:Smelled like smoke, very very run down, outlets without covers, showers without shower curtains, stains on carpets
Review 38:Refrigerators in rooms
Review 39:No air conditioning.
Review 40:Desk people were very professional and helpful.
Review 41:Strong cigarette and marijuana smells throughout the building.
Review 42:Excellent location and staff was very helpful.
Review 43:It was stinking and was a horrible hotel
Review 44:I actually checked in the hotel was so bad I walked out withy baggage 10 mins after checking in
Review 45:old, outdated, you trip over the many flaws in the carpet on the floors where the rooms are
Review 46:location, downtown
Review 47:small room small bed did not get a good nights sleep the two nights I was there I don't think I would stay there again
Review 48:location
Review 49:Everything we looked at is in need of repair you have to wade through the people hanging around in the lobby very dirty
Review 50:Close to mts centre
Review 51:Everything else.
Review 52:Restaurant and location.
Review 53:The evening staff wasn't able to tell us about any local restaurants (such as McDonalds, pizza places, etc).
Review 54:We were there for a concert and the location was ideal. Half a block away and we didn't have to pay for parking. The woman who checked us in was very friendly and we had the "moose" room which was themed to Hockey! I found it pretty cute.
Review 55:Older hotel but thats about it, location of this hotel can't be beat! I loved it and enjoyed my stay a lot.
Review 56:It was surprisingly very pleasant for the cost! The staff was incredibly nice (every shift/staff change) and helpful!!! I wasnt expecting much because of the price range but this place is definitely not to be judged by the cover. I really enjoyed my stay here. This was the closest hotel to the MTS Centre because the Radisson was sold out (next door). If I had a choice to stay here again, I would stay here and not the Radisson next time. The Mooseroom was very cool!
Review 57:Scary, old, run-down, terrible menu options, creepy people, no alcohol aloud, couldn't wait to leave. If you decide to stay here at least get the Moose room. It's weird but slightly less nasty than the other rooms. A DiVE
Review 58:Location
Review 59:No alcohol allowed in rooms?!? Really??? Housekeeping was closed at 5 PM, unable to get additional pillow
Review 60:Location to mts centre was great. Room affordable
Review 61:It,s extremely cold in the room. You should come with thermo underwear to survive in night. I changed the room, but the room was as cold as the first. Hotel is very old, needs immediate renovation
Review 62:The building is in pretty bad repair, and it has a zero alcohol onpremise rule. Although you can check it with the front desk, and collectit on check out. The tv and remote were missing most of their buttons.Although it did work.
Review 63:The beds are comfy and clean, the pillows were huge and fluffy. Thefront desk staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. I would stay thereagain based solely on how wonderful the woman who worked front desk was.The location was extremely convenient, especially for the business I wasin town for.
Review 64:burn holes in furniture, window fell out when opened, asked for maintenance to come fix it, but they never did. no alcohol allowed in rooms, which would have been nice to know ahead of booking.
Review 65:it was clean
Review 66:No A/C, the smell of stale smoke in the hallways and elevator. The carpets should be removed. The whole place is in need of paint and freshening up. Not feeling safe in the surroundings.
Review 67:Friendly staff
Review 68:First and importantly I commend the courteous, helpful and genuinely imokind and in some instances warm staff. There appears to be a lack ofcapital to keep up with maintenance, let alone remodeling. Two staffmembers went and looked at "central air conditioned" controlsin room - the room remained in the 80s irrespective of where it was set- bought a fan at Wal-Mart - it was fortunate - given really no airconditioning that temps were not in the 90s. Built 1911 - probably oneremodel in the 1950s. No temp control in tub - so forget shower - letwater run cold - then hot and take warm bath tub was good sized. Theyhave a no alcohol in the room policy - Good, the other patrons drunkwould have been the object of constant police intervention - the policeare called often by staff - Good ! --- If one is not a guest why let aconstant trickle of alcohol bearing non guests go to guest rooms.Centrally located - an ok place to get one's new Winnipeg legsaccustomed to the community. Winnipeg McDonald's have Blueberry pies- yum and ikea 15 meatball meal $ 2.98 on Monday - I believe - otherdays 3 dollars more - chomp. Food is pricier up north compared at leastwith central usa. Was up for folklarama - fun ! I would compare Winnipegmost closely to Milwaukee for an American city. Relatively run down - sonon kept up 1960s like maintenance and architecture. Still some dress up-go out crowd in the midst - take it in the only culture between Torontoand Vancouver. City - Yes - Motel once was enough - huge mural of motelon motel is cool though. Thank You to the kind staff.
Review 69:During my first stay (four nights) I think I was staying in asmoking room. The air didn't feel good. Perhaps I forgot to askfor a non-smoking room. If I had been asked, I would have chosen anon-smoking room.
Review 70:I was pleased to have a complimentary newspaper and coffee and coffeemaker plus fridge in the room.
Review 71:It's very tired; it needs a face lift (new flooring; updated decor) & continue to clean up the clientele - I understand why the hotel is 'dry' - I don't want to have to question why the elevator carpet is wet in one corner; or have to encourage a drunk patron we really don't have cigarettes....
Review 72:Excellent location; we appreciated the very patient night security guards that the hotel has hired; I hope the CentreVenture decides the invest some money to bring the hotel up to modern standards; their efforts to clean up the place would go much further.
Review 73:My group of friends and I all agree this hotel online was very deceitfulafter actually staying in the facility. They allow homeless people tolinger in the lobby and throughout the hotel, asking people for money bythe ATM'S. The service at the 'Coffee Shop' was terrible. The amenities offered such as free shampoo packets etc. were very poor. The entire time we were there we felt threatened when it came to oursecurity. We saw a drug deal outside of the main door, every time weleft there were people whistling and hooting. Every person staying therelooked like they had a drug problem or mental issue. We were evenfollowed to our room by a man who was drunk and looked drugged up. Notuntil we checked out and asked about the other guests did the staffinform us that this facility was basically a half-way house for peopleseeking to utilize the free health care of canada. We would notrecommend this hotel to anyone, and neither would anyone of Winnipeg whowe talked to about it.
Review 74:Honestly the only positive thing about the St. Regis was the location todowntown and the bar scene.
Review 75:wi fi had a very weak signal and sometimes had to take my laptop to lobby for it to work
Review 76:very quit and reasonable pricing in restaurant
Review 77:Everything was falling apart
Review 78:Value for money, wi-fi and location.
Review 79:The bed bugs/ Everything else
Review 80:Nothing: never go there it was garbage. BED BUGS
Review 81:The cleanliness, the incompetent staff
