Reviews for Dormero Hotel Rotes Ross
Review 1:Scrambled Egg was cold at 10am and only replaced approx. 10.45 , 15 mins before B/fast finished
Review 2:Location 10 mins walk to Market Sq Bedrooms excellent Fish tank in lobby amazing
Review 3:We hated this place. The staff were the least friendly I've ever experienced in a hotel. We booked a suite room. They put us (a family with 2 small children) in a smoking room (!) The stench was awful, my 1 year old son coughed all night on the first night. They didn't seem to care at all but also couldn't do anything about the smell, so very reluctantly agreed to move us to a different (significantly smaller single room) for the next 2 days and gave us about 10% off our bill for a room that was over 50% smaller. There was no apology at all. At breakfast, they were very overcrowded, and weirdly put us on a 4 person table that already had one man sitting there. This wasn't a cheap breakfast - it was €27 a head. The guy who was there already looked really annoyed that we'd been added to his table (understandably!) and left. On top of that, all the gym and spa facilities were broken or out of order. I have no idea how they have an average rating of 8.6. I can only assume that most people who stay in this hotel are heavy smokers who don't use any of their facilities, and don't like breakfast.
Review 4:The location was good. They gave 6 free drinks every day with each room. Slightly unnecessary, but quite nice to have. The fish tank downstairs was very nice and very well looked after given the state of everything else.
Review 5:Wellness center wasn't working. Both spa's were broken as were the two saunas. Strong smell of cigarette smoke Staff didn't seem to be bothered if the guests were happy or not. €27 for breakfast is just excessive.
Review 6:Large rooms & comfortable beds
Review 7:We got a smoking room, even our reservation was for non smoking room. Wealso could't got a room with one large bed. Night noise from thestreet bar in the neighborhood was also disturbing. By the time of thereservation we asked for highest possible floor. We were accommodate onthe 1.st floor. The information about parking house is missing on thishotel web site. There is a parking house, connected with direct entranceto the hotel reception with many reserved parking lots for hotel guests.I'm not sure, but the cost was 12 or 14 eur for overnight parking.
Review 8:The hotel was clean. The food in the hotel restaurant was great.Breakfast was rich in food selection and the staff was very careful. The main entrance is towards pedestrians area, walking distance to themain square.a
Review 9:If you arrive by car, you can use the fee-paying multistorey carpark next door, accessible at the back. If you park in the street, it is an orienteering odysee to the hotel door on pedestrian Leipziger Str. A colour-consistent signage system from the back of the building to the front door would be useful.
Review 10:They crammed all the comforts a traveler of the upper middle class may wish for into the rooms of this restored building, a 5-minute stroll from Halle centre. There was even a much-needed free bottle of beer in the fridge!
Review 11:we came in the summer with a 1 year old child. It was a hot season and we had a room with brokeb air conditioner.. It was like sleeping in the sauna. We found out that the central AC is not working for years.. But we were allowed to switch after 2 nights to a room with a seperated AC ... So be careful when u travel at summer
Review 12:A very nice bouzique hotel with a great location... Very quite and clean.
Review 13:Some reception staff not very nice. When I booked out member was on the phone the whole time she was booking me out. Breakfast was not a good experience at all.
Review 14:Lovely spacious room. Clean and well maintained. Loved the quirky little notices hung around the room, made me and my friends laugh !! comfortable bed and lovely bathroom
Review 15:The price of the breakfast but there's a very good cheap bakery right down the street
Review 16:The staff's helpfulness, the beauty and the comfort of our room.
Review 17:Because of the free and excellent WiFi. I was able to use Face Time and see and speak to my husband in Toowoomba Australia each morning which was very special!
Review 18:It took some time on first day to get aircon working. Many of messages on items in rooms suggested it was aiming at a younger clientele, getting drunk etc.
Review 19:With 2 exceptions pleasant helpful staff. Comfortable bed. Room a little cramped.
Review 20:Wifi was working only outside our room, which was quiet annoying if you count with free wifi for planning your trip.
Review 21:Awesome atmosphere, super friendly stuff, we really like that that hotel has its own style (cool stuff clothes & key tag). The price of the hotel do not include breakfast but we have added and we have to say it was worth of it (even the rate is not cheap). One of the best breakfast we could get so far (porridge, fresh orange juice, fried eggs, etc.) They have minibar free of charge, which is really quite uncommon. for the city - for the best chocolate do not miss the Halloren Cafe in the city center.
Review 22:Staff try hard, but need more training - e.g. in foreign languages, in knowledge of the town and area, and in not always giving priority to telephone callers over guests arriving in the lobby or standing at the desk.
Review 23:Outstandingly luxurious, comfortable room. Good position on main street (mainly pedestrian) only two or three hundred yards from the main square.
Review 24:Breakfast was not included and is a bit bit expensive if you wish to add. the keys are heavy to carry around and have to deposit at the receptionist counter every time you leave.
Review 25:The air conditioning, the cleanness, the soap and lotion
Review 26:Street noise starts around 05:00 am from garbage trucks and suppliers. Best to close all windows for good sleep.
Review 27:Friendly and helpful staff Reception desk staff fluent in English Close to public transport (train, tram, bus) Free drinks in rooms excellent Wifi (room 405). Large flatscreen TV with high quality. Very nice breakfast buffet with sekt Direct access to parking garage Small but good quality wellness. Stylish and confortable seating area with aquarium
Review 28:very very slow checkout process
Review 29:Feeling of a more luxurious hotel good breakfast attentive bar and restaurant staff good outside area for breakfast great location a few minutes from the centre of Halle
Review 30:Access to the hotel by car is from the rear in another street rather than the postal or physical address. Customers should be told this so they know what to put in a sat nav as the destination. We spent quite some trying to figure out how to get there as the front of the hotel looks out into a Pedestrian Only zone. Parking and meals are also not included in the room price. The WiFi was free but was rather unreliable and difficult to connect to, with frequent disconnections.
Review 31:We don't normally stay at these above average star hotels, but this was a case of a business set up combined with our own further two nights. And it was very worthwhile. The hotel is in a beautiful condition in a central part of town, not too far from the Marktplatz. Access to the carpark is the park behind the hotel and the parks are almost right by the hotel door, with very easy smooth access of no lift. A stunning aquarium lines the entrance and there is a lift to all floors. Underneath is a 'wellness' centre (ugh - hate the wod) with 2 saunas, sun beds, massage area and 2 Jacuzzis. Public areas are extremely inviting with a library and foyer area as well as a meeting place and bar. The rooms are large with elegant and top quality fittings. Beds are super comfortable and a variety of lamps and lights are very useful. There is plenty of storage space for belongings, a safe and excellent quiet air-conditioning. A wide-screen TV works extremely well (especially when viewing the world cup final!) and the rooms were spotlessly clean. The breakfast was up to usual German standards and beyond with no omissions. Staff were attentive and friendly although their English was not fluent beyond the usual run of commonplace greetings.
Review 32:Price fair was not fixed.
Review 33:Wonderful Location to the train station and market place. Internet was great.
Review 34:The location was great.
Review 35:could not log on to free wifi
Review 36:old Victorian style..superb decor...Rooms massive. room217 perfect
Review 37:No included breakfast
Review 38:Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, location is great
Review 39:Had to ask 3 times for coffee at breakfast
Review 40:Atmosphere of the hotel, large rooms and corridors
Review 41:location, location, location
Review 42:Rude staff at reception. Tacky decor in public areas.
Review 43:Room was attractive although rather small. Liked 2 basins in bathroom.
Review 44:Nothing to complain
Review 45:Everything
Review 46:Very good hotel
Review 47:- Pillows were not comfortable - Room was very hot even though we turned off the heating
Review 48:+ Location + Staff + Clean
Review 49:Very authentic German hotel with a elegant style.
Review 50:Slow internet
Review 51:Wellness and fitness
Review 52:The staff were extremely helpful. Our rooms were spotless and very comfortable.
Review 53:Staff did not follow up on requests. For example safe did not work and were told a technician would repair next day but never came. Dirty towels taken one day and not replaced. Had to ask for towels.
Review 54:Location was wonderful. Room was very nice. Well appointed. Would stay there again. Staff was very friendly and pleasant and most spoke at least some English which was very helpful!
Review 55:The wifi in my room would only allow one person to connect at a time. There isn't enough time in the day to take turns using the wifi.
Review 56:Helpful and friendly staff, map availability, English speaking receptionists.
Review 57:This hotel is gaudy - as if someone was trying to achieve an Italian villa look, but could only afford shopping at a dollar store and only saw the real thing in commercials. Faux golden decorations and pretentious furniture is everywhere you look. The effect is actually visually painful and will give you nightmares for a couple of days after leaving this hotel.
Review 58:Hotel is on the main shopping street (which is a little run down) and near the train station, ut far from the main square.
Review 59:Breakfast not included in the room price and no choice between full breakfast and "continental" with the result thay coffee and a couple of rolls cost more than 15 euros
Review 60:Position of the hotel about halfway between the railway station and town centre on a mainly pedestrianised street
Review 61:The breakfast is very expensive so we did not try it
Review 62:Beautiful room. Lots of extras like free minibar. We enjoyed dinner in the hotel. Good food and great atmosphere. We loved the fish tank in the bar area
Review 63:The person at the check-out was unmotivated and downright rude. He needssome training for working on the pc which he was not competent in doingas well as for how to deal with customers.
Review 64:Beautiful interior, nice room, nice wellness area, location close toboth, central railway station and the city.
Review 65:Rooms in the far end are separated by small stairs from the corridor, not so convenient, if you have a baby roller or heavy luggage. Two guys at reception were a bit inresponsive or maybe tired of everything.
Review 66:Very nice hotel - clean and silent. Good location yet not in the verycenter, but on the main walking street, which takes you ten minutes tothe central square.Nice italian restaurant next door. The old city itself is charming.
Review 67:Clean and quiete room with a bath. Good location.Polite and well-mannered hotel staff. It was surprising to find the free mini-bar!! (You can drink a bottle of wine, juice, and mineralwater, etc.,free of charge.)
Review 68:Physical key locks on doors Keychain is like a 5 kg ball wieght not practical No front desk safety deposit boxes only the room safe
Review 69:Free Internet & mini bar
Review 70:The room we stayed at really needs some renovation, walls should be painted the sooner the better.
Review 71:Spacious room, big bathroom, big and VERY comfortable bed!
Review 72:Didn't try it, but the breakfast at Euros 17 seems a bit steep.
Review 73:A modern business type hotel, staff spoke excellent English. Only 3 or 4minutes walk from the main square in Halle with the spires.
Review 74:Remember that expensive breakfast and parking will be added to theroomprice. That makes the hotel more expencive in the long run.
Review 75:The hotel is easy to find, and parking is very good. Room was a bittight but clean. Bathroom was very nice. Hotel is alright for ashort stay.
Review 76:Breakfast was extra - more than a third of the room per night cost -suddenly a good value overnight stay is not such good value after all. Ididn't bother.
Review 77:5 star accommodation at 2 star price! Good location just 5 or 6 minuteswalk from train station and 5 minutes to Marktplatz in town centre. Nicequiet, clean and comfortable room and bathroom (with air-conditioningthat actually works). Friendly and helpful staff at Reception who helpedme with online flight check-in when my German couldn't cope withcomputer instructions. The bonus was the minibar - well stocked withbeer and soft drinks - absolutely free!
Review 78:I wish there were other options for breakfast beside the very rich but expensive buffet.
Review 79:Very friendly and helpful staff, both at the reception and in the restaurant. Attractive interior design of the bar lounge and restaurant. Tastefully furnished room, very clean and with excellent beds. Great location in walking distance to the train station, and right on the main pedestrian street that leads to the market square. Overall, a gem of a small city hotel.
Review 80:The central location, sizeable room and comfortable surroundings wereexcellent. I wish only that a smaller television were possible---thelarge one dominated room!
