Review 1：Mariela Apartments is excellent value for money. The studio room we had was large with a nice balcony. The kitchen had everything necessary to cook a meal. The owners were extremely hospitable & friendly - we would recommend this place without reservation. It is also well located with a Papantoniou supermarket & various banks within a few minutes walk. The old centre of Polis is only a little further away.

Review 6：The breakfast was awful, I had paid for 3 days but only took one. The owner wasn't there, it was all self service, boil the kettle make your own coffee, make your toast, the girl gave me a few slices of thin white bread, the milk bottle which she just plonked on the table, then she brought a few slices of ham and cheese. Everything was dusty, the jam sachets, the table, I had to ask for butter and a mug for coffee. The owner arrived later and brought me fresh juice, he asked if I wanted anything else but by that time I was turned off of the whole experience.

Review 7：The welcome and friendliness of the owner. He gave us a lift to the place where we were meeting other friends. That was just lovely of him. He gave me a bottle of wine when I left. He seemed to do everything. Without him it would just fall apart.

Review 8：We asked to move as the first room smelt and was damp. The second room was fine, but a studio. They made us pay for a double, not a studio. Where was the lake? The reception was very damp.

Review 12：We stayed in a one bedroom apartment with a balcony overlooking the pool. It was spacious and spotlessly clean. There were two pools which our children loved and they were cleaned daily. The owners couldn't have been more friendly or helpful.

Review 15：We were welcomed with complimentary cake and drinks before going to our apartment. Our overall impression of the Mariela was of it being a really comfortable and pleasant place to stay, we felt like being in a family environment rather than a commercial establishment. Breakfast was very good, from simple continental style up to the "full English" available and cooked freshly. The apartment complex has a great position, a short walk to the centre of Polis, plenty of off road parking and there was no noticeable traffic noise at any time. To summarise the Mariela, we felt so welcome and at home there, this is the sort of place that takes you back to the time when Cypriot hospitality was first rate and personal - the very thing that made the Island so popular with British tourists who returned year after year. We should mention that the complex is past its heyday, but everything worked and the prices charged more than compensate for that.

Review 16：The daughter (or granddaughter - I am not sure) of the owner could learn how to welcome guests and how to charge their credit cards and generally to be a pleasant presence. When we arrived she yelled "Papa!" so that the manager (owner?) could come and take care of us. She is clearly not ready to take over the business. I hope my friendly advice will make her think getting more serious about it. But overall cannot complain.

Review 17：The owner was very helpful and polite. We received a free drink on arrival, a free home made cake during one of our breakfast. Overall the place looks dated but in very good condition, well maintained and comfortable. Free parking, swimming pool, decent WIFI were a big plus.

Review 27：I just asked for a favor after I checked out. To put my stuff somewhere so I could go to the beach and leave in the afternoon, and they said they didn't have any available space for me to put my drumset. Didn't expect that at all. It's a huge place with many rooms and huge reception. There must have been some safe place to put my drums for a couple of hours.

Review 68：Pambos was very nice, helpful and friendly to us, upon arrival and also before departure he invited us for a drink and a cake. The hotel is comfortable and clean, the pool was also cleaned every day.Its about 15-20 mins walk from Polis beach, and about 5 mins to the "city centre", where several restaurants and souvenir shops are located. If we return to Polis in the future, we will surely stay here again. All in all,well worth it's price.

Review 80：The reason I picked this apartments was mainly due to the nice reviews Iread on booking. However what we found was quite dissapointing andreally not worth the money at all. I am really sorry to say this butthese apartments are a shame for cypriot hospitality and qualitystandards that our tourists deserve. I have never wrote such bad criticsbefore for no place i've ever stayed. On the contrary I believe I am aneasy going person. I ignored the one negative review I read for theseapartments because I thought that the person who wrote it would propablybe somekind of bizzare, posh, high class cypriot. Now I totally regretit. Always trust the opinion of a local.

The air-conditioner was broken in our room but the people were kind enough to give us fans without charge... walking distance to the central square... petrol station oposite! You can walk into Polis centre very easily, where there are great restaurants. The coast is a bit of a walk, but we had a car so we managed to both get to the sea but also explore some of the countryside and the mountains too.
