Reviews for Ocean Promenade Hotel
Review 1:We did not stay long enough to experience anything negative. We were on the inside court yard and did not have a view. I would imaging in the front along MarIne Drive would be noisy in the summer months with traffic. This hotel needs more signage to draw attention to the hotel.
Review 2:last minute booking. we have seen this hotel walking by and heard good reviews from local friends who live in the area, Great location along the beach. The coffee shop attached to the hotel was also excellent.
Review 3:Our King bed was slightly soft. We mentioned it to the management and they'll check it out. Pub next door can be a bit annoying. I imaging in the summer much louder or goes much later into the evening. Ear plugs or in the summer the AC fan would help a lot for those that might be disturbed by the night street life. Or ask for a quiet room.
Review 4:Exceptional staff, very friendly and helpful especially Sally. They enjoy their job meeting guests. All staff we met were dog lovers and that helped us with our stay as we had our dog with us. Room was spacious, very nice ocean view and a gas fireplace. Kitchen well supplied. Parking was indoors and secure.
Review 5:Your cleaning staff needs to have a better command of the English Language to be able to communicate more effectively with the hotel guests. Better communication in this business is very important to make our stay more complete when on vacation.
Review 6:We were upgraded to a King Room with a kitchenette which gave us more room and a better view a requested in our reservation to you. This was very much appreciated and made our stay more special for our 16th Wedding Anniversary.
Review 7:booked a 2:00 check in and clerk was harried when we arrived, was not his fault as he was obviously all by himself with a line up of people trying to check in. Some clients came down and said they just checked in and their room hadn't been cleaned yet - at all. we were told it would be 4:00 for our room and we had a business meeting at 5:00!!! We came back at 3:00 and told the maid not to bother vacuuming as we had to get ready - not her fault either. We would stay again, probably just an unfortunate case of "back to school" staff shortage.
Review 8:loved the location and price, friendly staff and comfy beds.
Review 9:Our only complaint was our credit card was overcharged by quite a large amount, we're working with hotel to rectify this issue, they have been helpful, hopefully it will be resolved soon.
Review 10:Hotel was maintained very well, very comfortable, the staff were very helpful.
Review 11:This hotel looks new on the inside - tiles, carpet, furniture and fixtures are new. I thought it would be older/used. No weird smells and odors. Actually, there's nothing weird about this hotel. I was pleasantly surprised, my expectations were lower.
Review 12:The room not so big. We can not see the sea from our window. For parking we must pay 12;00$ extra.
Review 13:It,s very near to the beach.the staff is friendly and help us.
Review 14:They have rooms where your windows look straight on to someone else's balcony. When the other room occupants use the balcony they look in on you while you sleep. The hotel was only 1/3rd full, why would they give us a room where someone else will look in on you when they could have given us any other room where the adjoining suite was not occupied.
Review 15:Pay for parking sucks but to be expected where you pay to park pretty much everywhere in WhiteRock.
Review 16:Heated bathroom floor, fantastic view, comfortable beds. Clean and quiet.
Review 17:Power outage for 36 hrs No running water for showers or toilet No back up generator No hydro No lights, TV, radio, food, or phone Management offered little compensation as he claims was act of nature and not fault of hotel! Disappointing for our only night away this summer to a beautiful spot on the west coast !
Review 18:The hotel was nice , room was spacious and what we expected .
Review 19:Didn't receive a patio, the adjoining room had it. Wasn't informed you had to ask for a patio. Got it at a deal but average price, it is a little outdated for almost 300 a night.
Review 20:Beautiful view. Friendly staff. Comfy beds.
Review 21:no vanity in bathroom, train noise, $12 overnight parking, building layout where one walks thru dungeon like corridors from parking to elevator/lobby
Review 22:beds
Review 23:Some wear & tear on the wall in the bathroom. My reservation said parking was $10.00 but my bill said $12.00. The clerk changed the billing easily but it is something that should of not happened.
Review 24:This is the second time my husband and I have stayed at the Ocean Promenade Hotel. The location is perfect! Friendly staff, nice king bed & great pillows. We stayed on the "noisy side" which is the ocean view. I am sure that traffic can get a little busy and loud in the middle of the summer, but for us the noise from the street makes the trip more exciting. Sitting on the balcony and watching the view was relaxing. My husband and I live in the lower mainland and it is amazing that we felt like we could of been anywhere in the world. We will be going back again!!
Review 25:Front desk staff were warm, welcoming and very helpful. Helped us find an excellent restaurant for dinner. Pointed us in the right direction to find some groceries. 1 bedroom suite had a gorgeous view of the beach.
Review 26:Be warned!! If you a light sleeper like me, the train does go all night. It did wake me up every night. Also if your staying at the weekend, we heard everyone leaving the pub next door at 2am. When possible we stayed on the hotels other side away from the pub and as far back from the front, which was a lot better. Over all it's a lovely hotel..
Review 27:The hotel is on the beach front. The rooms are lovely, we ended up trying three different types of rooms over our stay. The standard two queens is fine, but be warned the you do not get a balcony and the suite next door will have it and it goes across your window. My favorite room was the two queen suite, as it has it own bedroom with separate living room/ kitchen, I think this is the value for money room.. It's was not a lot more money than the standard room. Another family member stayed in a king suite which was also lovely but it does not have a separate bedroom. Then there is the jacuzzi suite, it has the best views and is big with a separate bedroom with jacuzzi bath in it. But it is a lot more money! The staff were great and helpfull.
Review 28:He over all feeling of cimfort and clean . The location and the view of the water was a bonus ! I would refer this place to others and we would return to use the facility .
Review 29:Over priced Having to pay for parking on top of the room No breakfast included despite the price Wifi was useless
Review 30:Location - quiet end of town right across the street fro the beach.
Review 31:Never warned us about the construction or offered some compensation. We were returning for our one year anniversary and they didn't even acknowledge it. They pet tolerant, not pet friendly. Will not repeat our business again.
Review 32:Location and nice cafe
Review 33:Noise from bar across the street. Not the hotels responsibility and was only disturbed 1 night.
Review 34:like the location of the property to the beach and restaurants.
Review 35:There was no complimentary breakfast. The fitness room left a lot to be desired. There did not seem to be enough parking to accommodate for all those staying at the hotel who required parking. Further, I thought it terrible that there was a daily cost to park in the garage over and above the cost to the room..
Review 36:Especially loved the location of the hotel. The staff were mostly nice and helpful. The rooms were clean.
Review 37:Excellent location; friendly staff; nice & clean room with (partial) ocean view; comfortable beds - this was our second stay at Ocean Promenade Hotel and once again, we really enjoyed it! We will definitely come back!
Review 38:We were very disappointed in not being able to use the shower in the morning, it was broke!!!!
Review 39:I have been at this hotel before and I like the rooms we got (like apartments) this time we got a nice and comfortable single room with two queen beds but unfortunately we were not able to use the shower.I complained and I assumed that it won't happens again.
Review 40:All good. No negatives.
Review 41:Upgraded to a suite with a beautiful view. Loved the train and the proximity to all the shops and restaurants. All within walking distance.
Review 42:The price was astronomical. Had to pay $10 a day for parking. Our card key was keyed in incorrectly and we had to make 3 trips back down to the front desk to have it corrected.
Review 43:We needed space for 5 and this was one of two hotels in the area that could accommodate us.
Review 44:Trains go by several times a day beside the promenade.
Review 45:Can't beat this location across the street from East Beach. It's a beautiful walk along the promenade to West Beach. The one bedroom suite with kitchen and ocean views is perfect for our family of five.
Review 46:I left my windows open the first night so heard everyone coming down the hall.Left them closed the second night. All the doors are noisy when they close.
Review 47:The staff were all wonderful.the hotel is so close to all I needed,so I did not have to drive any where. Your parking is clean and secure.
Review 48:I liked the free parking and the proximity to the promenade. It was great to have a coffee maker and fridge in the room as well as the fireplace (though there was no need of it at this time of year). Also, being able to rent for one night in the summer season was a plus in such a popular destination!
Review 49:Having a deck outside of our window we couldn't access. and some form of continental breakfast would have been a nice touch.
Review 50:Beach access-gorgeous views-very cool patio restaurants steps from the hotel and hotel staff are great:)
Review 51:The room was very comfortable and we had a view of the water that was out of the breeze. Comfortable to sit outside and we were a short walk to the pier and various eateries. Very enjoyable stay.
Review 52:The light in the room was the the wearst I have ever encountered in a hotel, the windows in the room could not be opened to let fresh air... All places around we're closed ( 21:00), went to bed hungry!
Review 53:The beds were ok, the parking was cheap, there was coffe maker in the room.
Review 54:My room was a suite with a patio at street level. People used the area outside as a smoking area so we were unable to use the patio or leave the door open.
Review 55:Location. Secure parking. Great room.
Review 56:Requested ocean view and unfortunately did not receive. Vehicle parking is way to expensive ans was not secure as stated. The room was very dusty, washroom not as cleaned as one would hope.
Review 57:The location is perfect
Review 58:There were a couple sheets that were dirty but the staff was extremely helpful in changing them.
Review 59:Great location! We could easily walk to all the shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly and the rooms were comfortable and spacious. We loved the heated floors in the bathroom.
Review 60:Only thing missing in the kitchen is an oven. Has stove top, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and dishes
Review 61:We had a great stay, very comfortable, right on the ocean front. Friendle accommodating staff
Review 62:Wasn't bad but nice if ice was on each floor and also nice if there was exercise room or hot tub and sauna but still great can't have everything so guess it was great was noisy Friday nite but we were on the noisy side to have a great view. good times.
Review 63:Being close to everything great staff nice parking
Review 64:Would have liked more if we were given the room on the White rock side. The mineral water in the vending machine was sold out and not refilled in time.
Review 65:Jacuzzi
Review 66:Did not like the way the rooms are set out with A or B. With a B room the balcony comes right across the window from the A room taking away any privacy.
Review 67:Great location. Our 1 bedroom unit was clean and spacious. Fireplaces were very nice to have and warmed the rooms perfectly. Kitchen is a good size and well stocked.
Review 68:There was no way to make a cup of tea in our room. There is only a coffee maker, which has a strong odor/taste of coffee. I am allergic to coffee. The morning front desk staff was not interested in accommodating our need for hot water even though the night staff advised we could bring our cups down to them for hot water. Not ideal, but a compromise. In the morning it was suggested that if we took our mugs to the cafe around the corner, they would possibly give us some hot water. Upon checkout their was no interaction/interest in our experience at this Hotel. We are easy going travellers, but this was a little over the top!! A suggestion, it would be nice to have a couple of kettles available for guests that enjoy a cup of tea or hot chocolate.
Review 69:Close to the beach and restaurants. Lovely location for a stroll along the water.
Review 70:Train right close disturbed some of our group but it was a small price to pay for the views and comfort.
Review 71:The staff were soo nice. We asked for recommendations of restaurants and enjoyed our experience. We loved the proximity to the ocean. We enjoyed Watts cooking for breakfasts. We appreciate the ability to get a late check out.
Review 72:Train right across the street several times during the night. Not hotel fault. I understand that there is no place in White Rock you won't hear the train.
Review 73:The bathroom had heated floors. Bed was comfortable and the kitchen had what we needed. The staff were very good.
Review 74:The look and feel to our room was lovely. The fireplace and furniture made it very cozy. I was disappointed we did not have a view of the ocean and that the "full kitchen" did not include an oven. Underground parking was nice but it came at a cost and was a ways from our room.
Review 75:It was a nice place to stay for our wedding night as it was conveinent to where we were getting married but the costomer service was poor as all they seemed to care about was money I paid cash up front for the room And they asked me at least 10x for the $10 parking fee and they knew I was getting ready for my wedding. In Vegas when we got engaged the hotel staff waved the resort fee and sent up a bottle of chanpaine and choclate covered strawberries with a congratulations note. Also the water never got more than luke warm so it was hard to enjoy the jacuzzi tub for $245 a night I would think there could be more of a wow factor or at least better customer service and we also stayed the Friday night as someone paid for us to have it two nights so we stayed and got ready in the hotel and then came back for our wedding night
Review 76:Conveinent location, nice about people coming and going to get us ready room Was spacious and had a great view.
Review 77:we were suppose to get an ocean view which we didn't, we were connected to a bunch of young drunks going in and out of their rooms slamming doors and yelling foul language until after midnight.
Review 78:Location was good
Review 79:I did not get what I asked for in the room, so i asked for another room, they told me they were full and could not change rooms , but the room right next door was vacant
Review 80:free wifi
Review 81:The pub across the street, it was a weekend so maybe the drinkers cant be blamed however one would think that eventually it would settle down however that didn't happen.
Review 82:Loved the view of the ocean, the staff were incredibly accommodating. I will go again when the opportunity presents itself. Maybe next time just me and my wife.
Review 83:Soundproof issues - I could hear all the party noise from the neighbouring room so had to call the front desk to quiet them down. There was a wedding going on all day long and the service was late..felt like it was short staffed.
Review 84:The view was excellent, the room was clean and comfortable. location is great you can literally walk out and meet the ocean.
Review 85:Creepy corridors, old elevators, limited parking spaces Very expensive for the quality of the hotel, much more expensive than high-quality hotel downtown Vancouver, you are paying for the location Noisy, you can hear your neighbors talk. Their coming in-and-out are so loud that it wakes you up
Review 86:Great location Big suites Nice balcony with partial view on the ocean
Review 87:This hotel was in a great location close to all kinds of retaurants. They were very accomodating with an early check in so we could get ready for a wedding. My only complaint is that we didn't have much time to spend exploring all there was to see and do.
Review 88:The bedroom doors are extremely heavy and noisy. Of the 3 nights we stayed there, the parkade was full on 2 of those nights.
Review 89:This hotel is located right across the street from the beach and on the Marine Drive Restaurant drag.
Review 90:non stop partying at pub next door no one to shut the pub down next door construction till 9 pm and resuming at 8 am the next morning finally going to sleep 4 am each night when pub noise finished
Review 91:awesome kitchen awesome bed awesome shower awesome clean room
Review 92:Staff did not give us enough information on how to find our room (a number plus a letter). This wasted precious time in which we could have been enjoying the sunset we had been hoping to see. Worst of wall our outdoor patio was on street level and offered only a sliver of a glimpse of the sea. No breakfast.
Review 93:Our suite was clean and comfortable. The kitchen area was good for relaxing.
Review 94:We had a room with 2 beds, it had an ocean view and no balcony. There was however a balcony directly outside of our window that the room next to us had access to so if we wanted privacy we had to close the blinds. No restaurant on site however there was a cafe attached for breakfast.
Review 95:Staff was very helpful and friendly. Parking was a plus so we weren't on the street all night. The room itself had a fireplace and an ocean view which was very nice. Nice big fridge. The beds were very comfortable.
Review 96:The television was situated in front of one of historical pictures of White Rock. Moving the picture so it can be appreciated by the viewer would be a suggestion.
Review 97:I enjoyed the warm welcome and assistance of the staff. The turn of the century pictures of White Rock decorating the walls of the lobby and the room where I stayed, were delightful. This location was excellent as it provided me with a picturesque walk to and fro from a friend's home.
Review 98:The balcony of the room next door was actually right outside our window. When we opened the blinds, there was a guy sitting right up against our window. Very poor layout... took away from having an ocean view. Room should have been titled "room with a view of a guy smoking".
Review 99:Hotel had a great location, easy access to food and activities.
Review 100:Requested a waterfront view but we were given a room on the side where construction was going on. We did have a balcony but the room next to us was viewing our balcony. Their window broke and needed assistance from us to close and open it. She made a comment about no privacy. We were reluctant to use the balcony after that. Security doors were slamming shut loudly. The website did not show pictures of room views very well.
Review 101:We like the room set up. Parking was excellent. Friendly staff. Very clean hotel.
Review 102:Didn't have access to outdoor patio (208b). Were told at desk that we had a beautiful ocean view. Not so in that room, just a peekaboo view. Better to be honest.
Review 103:Super clean and pleasantly furnished!
Review 104:We only stayed one night as we had a family gathering in White Rock and found things to be just fine. Obviously a room with a view of the water would have been preferred and ours was way at the back of the building but it served the purpose.
Review 105:The proximity to the beach. There was a small problem with the room we got, but after calling front desk it was promptly taken care of with no glitches, Thank you Sally!
Review 106:Neighboring room had a very loud family, and that came through the walls. Nothing the staff could have done about it, and overnight was quiet save the nearby train tracks (trains whistled every time when passing by). I guess a better sound insulation would be great.
Review 107:It was simple and easy to check in and check out, they were expecting us when we arrived. The maids were very friendly. The cafe shop was a great "bonus". And it is steps from the beach and shops.
Review 108:The bed was very uncomfortable
Review 109:View and very clean
Review 110:Very noisy outside. Primarily the train passing 3 times during the middle of the night.
Review 111:Staff
Review 112:Clean, convenient, comfy, quiet.,,the location is great for access to White Rock beach. Ample parking.
Review 113:the hotel was very nice good location and very clean staff was friendly and sincere
Review 114:Our room faced the ocean. That's a big plus.
Review 115:I enjoyed the care and attention of the hotel staff, they were all very friendly. Especially the gal who checked us into the hotel.
Review 116:Was there for business, provided all necessary amenities for my stay.
Review 117:Balcony of the next room is in front of your room: so no privacy at all. Noisy train all night long.
Review 118:Friendly staff.
Review 119:Staff were not very helpful. Seemed too busy to be attentive.
Review 120:Location was excellent, right on the water.
Review 121:Secure parking
Review 122:Great service. The manager remembered us from previous vists. Like we were at home.
Review 123:Friendly staff, amazing view from our balcony, fabulous room. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
Review 124:Perfect location
Review 125:Everything!
Review 126:Lack of privacy in rooms eg looking out onto other rooms balconies
Review 127:friendly staff and location
