Reviews for Shanghai Hongqiao Airport Hotel - Air China
Review 1:Location is superb as it is inside the airport! When I passed by the other rooms in the morning, I saw the staff cleaned the room so thoroughly and detailed, makes me feel more comfortable to stay!
Review 2:We had some problems with the check in.Despite we called the hotel and informed that we'll receive one day later because of the delayed flight, they cancelled our reservation. We had to explain the situation for 30 minutes and finally they renewed the reservation.
Review 3:As it's an arport hotel, the location is very good.Rooms are clean and good quality. The price was really good.We didn't have any problems during our stay.
Review 4:The plug in the coffee area didnt work. The light button was only on one side of the bed, not both sides, which is not handy.
Review 5:It's very clean and good location.
Review 6:We booked two rooms due to a stop over not so confident about the hotel. We were wrong and truly impressed. This hotel is immaculate, very comfortable and with the best mattress and pillows ever! The staff is extremely friendly specially the concierge young slim guy. In addition to the convenience of being inside the airport T2. We were very pleased staying in this hotel at least for one night. Many 5* hotels should look at this hotel as an example of an immaculate room.
Review 7:No window (although I asked for it when booking 4 months! earlier) and NO WORKING AIRCONDITION. The hardly speaking English staff were not willing to help (neither fix A/C nor change the room). The smell was digusting. WiFi completely not working!!!
Review 8:The hotel is under one roof with the Terminal 2 of Honquaio Airport, bus-, train- and subway-station are also in the same building complex.
Review 9:Room too hot - not facility to alter the room temperature. Little bit expensive for what they offer.
Review 10:Convenient location. Easy access from airport. Easy access to subway train and other public transport.
Review 11:room very small and sink out of the bathroom ! never had room like that before ! booked a deal room for good price but was not worth the money and was not 5 star hotel level - so the deal was not good at all !!
Review 12:the location
Review 13:The booking agent had misspelled my name and couldn't find myreservation by the booking number either. Had to manually find myreservation.
Review 14:Good small clean room
Review 15:Size of the standard double is very small with NO WINDOW, which they don't tell you about. The room may de cheap, but everything else is extra and expensive. The restaurants in the terminal close at 8pm, except McDonalds. The aircon control is limited. Cooling was disabled. So if you want to sleep in 18 degrees....tough.
Review 16:Facilities are adequate. Inside terminal 2 so close for flights. Access to restaurants and transport, including the train station is brilliant.
Review 17:Charged twice for a one night stay. They couldn't find our reservation and book in took about an hour, by which time restaurant was closed. Minibar not stocked
Review 18:location for our departure
Review 19:the room was very small, no windows in the room, no cupboards, no minibar, rate was not equivalent to booking.com rate and even with fact that services and tax are not included seemed like big difference
Review 20:the location and the fact that some of the staff spoke a bit of english, the breakfast was good, room service was also good
Review 21:Staff said booking cancelled our reservation, which wasn't true, in order to make us pay more. It was not acceptable.
Review 22:Clean. Location is convenient for transit.
Review 23:There is no pool, the breakfast was good but poor, for 5 star hotel it must be much more better...there was no radio in the bathroom..:)
Review 24:Perfect place,perfect stuff,clean,lux,very comfortable beds,comunicative place...all a perfect hotel needs.
Review 25:Although the room was small it was well set out , But there was no window
Review 26:Location, Inside Airport terminal so easy to get to check in for flight. Room very comfortable and got excellent Booking.com rate
Review 27:For China, it's a little expensive for an overnight stay, and there is no sighnage to help you find the hotel.
Review 28:Location is excellent. If you arrive in Shanghai Pudong in the evening, you can take the Silver Bus or subway line 2 to Honqiao and walk directly to the hotel. In the morning, you can walk to the high speed train station or airport departure.
Review 29:The hotel had lost it's internet and had no backup for it's credit card system. They were demanding cash payments for the room and/or 1400 rmb cash deposits while they fixed their system. This is nonsense, get out the old card machine and paper slips. Demanding that your customers go get cash from ATM's because you are not smart enough to have a backup plan is really annoying. Letting them hold excessive amounts of my money because they do not have a plan is also not acceptable.
Review 30:Have stayed there several times and the hotel is clean, quiet and comfortable. The deluxe rooms give a lot more space and are preferred for a couple but the standard is fine for a single traveler.
Review 31:The room I got had no window. I didn't mind because I was there for only a very short night. If this could be a problem then make sure that you get a room with windows when you make a booking.
Review 32:The hotel has the best possible location for a night's layover in Hongqiao airport; the reception opens out to the departures hall in the airport. The wifi connection was good, the in-room tea was Longjin, and the room was perfectly clean.
Review 33:The rooms need a facelift. You can see they have been well used. Carpets are worn to the extend that the securing nails at the edges are coming through. You don't want to be walking around bare foot!
Review 34:The location is excellent if you have a late flight arrival or early departure. Also a ten minute walk to the high speed train station.
Review 35:Rooms without window! Breakfast not included and incredibly expensive!
Review 36:Nice hotel, very convenient location inside T2 of Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. Fly rooms are quite good, but doesn't have window!!!
Review 37:booking.com forgot to inform that room charge changes due to exhibition. in fact I paid my price for the 1st day, 2nd-4th were 2 times more expensive.
Review 38:On check in being given a room with twin beds when I had booked a king bed. Tried to get me to pay more for king - eventually honoured the booking
Review 39:Great location
Review 40:I had reserved two rooms through Booking.com, one for me and one for my adult son. We were so tired from the flight when we checked in, that I didn't notice that she only gave us one key. I thought maybe it was a double room. When I saw there was only one bed, I called down to the front desk and asked for another room for my son. She did not see that I had already paid for 2 rooms. When I went down to the front desk, she talked me into taking a new room with two beds because it was cheaper. I was so tired I wasn't in the mood to try to argue with her, so my son and I shared the room with 2 beds. The next day at check out, they tried to charge me for 3 rooms. The two I had already paid for (but was never given the key) and the double room she insisted we take. I had a Chinese friend call the hotel to clear up the mistake. He was told that they would make the hotel clerk pay for her mistake and that it would be one-third of the girl's monthly salary. I felt so bad for her that I had my friend call back to say that I would pay for the 3 rooms. The manager asked to speak to me and told me how kind and generous I was and that the hotel really appreciated it. I can't believe that they would actually make her pay, but my Chinese friend said this was normal in China.
Review 41:Great location if you need to take the train. Food is very good.
Review 42:The room had no window, photo on web is deceiving.
Review 43:Location is great if traveling from Hongqiao airport or train. New and very stylish property. Breakfast good but expensive.
Review 44:No icemachibes anywhere. Room service brought it. But I would have liked to get more or get it myself.
Review 45:It was nice after traveling for 24 hrs to walk to the hotel without having to get on one more shuttle, taxis of any moving vehicle.
Review 46:so far from the nearest metro station. You need to walk about at least 1 km to get the nearest metro station (exit 4 of east nanjing station)
Review 47:in the middle of city, this budget hotel is feel safe because they have card lock on their lift
Review 48:The room didn't have a window, but I really didn't miss it that much. They had fake window treatments to make you think there was one. But if you went to open the curtains it was a wall.
Review 49:The staff was really friendly and helpful. The hotel was a great location, walked right out of its door and into the airport terminal. Also within walking to the train station. And close to a subway
Review 50:Not the hotel's fault perhaps - but not well signposted from inside terminals 1 and 2
Review 51:Ease of access from the airport - excellent location for stop over between flights
Review 52:- I have booked the hotel on 11th February because of the reasonable price from 1043.49 CNY per 3 nights and closeness to the new fair grounds (two stops by metro).Unfortunately this price was change from BOOKING.com by phone call on 6st April on 1434.78 CNY. I had to accept the price because there was no nearest free rooms on normal price. But to pay for room without window and extremely small (3/3mt) is even funny. - Internet is poor. - Close to the metro station. - No refrigerator at the room. - It is not easy to find it on the airport. - Two hours distance by metro from Pudong airport.
Review 53:Clean rooms, nice staff.
Review 54:155 RMB for breakfast for a customer staying at the hotel is outrageous!
Review 55:You can't beat the location if you plan to use the Hongqiao hub of transportation.
Review 56:Really poor wifi. Expensive breakfast or Starbucks in airport. Nowhere to walk in vicinity except airport. Staff worked hard but long delay for checkin.
Review 57:Great location near airport and railway. Roon quiet, comfortable and provided with essentials. Staff purchased rail ticket for a fee. One stop on airport ring bus from Pudong.
Review 58:internet speed is very slow. for business travelers it is a disaster and a genuine factor for not considering this hotel again.
Review 59:the location and overall the hotel is fine.
Review 60:No cafes near by to have breakfast.
Review 61:Customer service of staff was great as they helped me to purchase tickets on the bullet train. And the train station is only 10 minutes walk away.
Review 62:As I had come from India and I need to catch Train early morning so It is best option I have to stay here while coming from Hongkong need not go anywhere to catch a train for early morning to Taizhou
Review 63:This is a very good hotel for staying overnight and then taking a connecting flight from the HongQiao Airport terminal 2. Staff are helpful. Room is compact but has all that guest would need for one night stay. Ideal for a good night rest after a long flight.
Review 64:Room had multiple non-functioning electrical outlets, including one for the kettle. Bathroom smelled of urine.
Review 65:Front desk: check-in and check-out; survey taker on check-out asking if there were problems and writing them down. Location, location, location (and low rates).
Review 66:No window in the room.Although unrelated to hotel be aware of fake "taxi" drivers.
Review 67:Because we were travelling to Beijing the next day by train this hotel was within walking distance from Shanghai Hongqiao railway station
Review 68:When I check in, there is no booking info from Booking.com at front desk. It's useless to present the booking conformation we got from Booking.com Therefor I have to call international call to Booking office in Hong Kong. It's really bad for the communication between hotel to Booking.com
Review 69:This hotel is good location with free shuttle to the exhibition center during the exhibition. Room is good. There are many resturants, bread store and mini shop inside the airport terminal.
Review 70:If you travelling from the other terminal this hotel will be too far. In addition.nobody will explain you that it takes you some additional 15 minutes to get to the bus that brings you to T1 which takes 30 minutes. If you don't speak Chinese, you'll be lost... Take advance time as you'll need it...
Review 71:My reservation was not in the hotel system. Even though I presented them my booking.com confirmation I had to pay 280€ per night instead of 60 € (the price I booked). Booking.com was supportive but the hotel staff was not!
Review 72:Close to the subway station and the exhibition centre. Clean.
Review 73:standard room without window, room is small, restricted internet, really not value for money, deposit
Review 74:Clean room with free tea and water, fast check out, the biggest advantage of the hotel is location in the Hongqiao Airport if you have morning flight, nice lobby
Review 75:The room was very hot and ac was not available as it was not turned on at the airport next door. Very strange.
Review 76:Most things were great just the heat of the room spoiled things.
Review 77:Hotel couldn't find our booking so told us to sort with booking.com ourselves and lied and said their phone couldn't call out. Told we had to pay 5x higher our prebooked rate. Spent 2.5hrs at checkin at 1am whilst we forced them to sort with booking.com. the manager and male staff member at front desk were incompetent!!! Never again! Biggest mistake - no customer service!
Review 78:Absolutely nothing!!!!!
Review 79:Probably the breakfast, it would be nice, if it was more western, but overall it was nice
Review 80:The staff was very friendly I loved that we walked to the airplane check in
Review 81:The staff is very incompetent, I have never seen that in a hotel, especially Mrs. Wendy wang !!! The room is very very very small.
Review 82:The location is perfect in the terminal 2
Review 83:The room I get this time is no window. That is it.
Review 84:Inside the airport and next to the railway station. Easy to travel. The room is clean and tidy. Really good place for doing business around Shanghai.
Review 85:Some genius in the Shanghai Government has decided that access to Hongqiao airport departures lounge needs to be closed at night, after around 10pm. So you try to get there by taxi from downtown Shanghai, and cant, he has to go to arrivals... Except that there is nowhere for passengers to get down in arrivals. So to get to your hotel the taxi has to drop you in the middle of a highway, you then dodge a couple of crazy drivers, jump a fence, cross another lane, get to the arrivals lounge, walk some 10 minutes inside the airport, go up 3 floors... and then you're at your hotel. Ideal start for a romantic night, especially if you're carrying heavy luggage. But hey! This wouldn't be China if they didn't found a way to make simple things difficult and annoying! Also breakfast is really expensive!!! Can be more than the room!
Review 86:Location is great, inside the airport, 10 minutes walk to Hongqiao train station. Great either for catching flights or trains
Review 87:A nasty smell from the toilet hit us as soon as we walked in the room. It is not quite so convenient if you are flying into Terminal 1, the two terminals are not that close and you need to take a shuttle bus, (albeit free).
Review 88:It is certainly convenient if you fly into Terminal 2 as it is in the building.
Review 89:The location cannot be beat, as it is connected to the airport. The price is quite cheap for the quality and the staff is also helpful and has English speaking ability. Wifi fast, bed soft, allows for quick access to the airport for early morning flights. Will re-book this hotel when making flight connections.
Review 90:This time I had a really bad surprise. As I opened the door to my room there was a bad smell coming from it... Since I booked a room without windows it was expected but I didn't experience the smell in my last two stay.... And it wasn't my only bad surprise, there was a giant bug running on the floor near the sink!! I was so shocked it's supposed to be a 4 stars hotel... I have stayed in much cheaper hotel in China and never spotted a bug running around... And I really hate bugs ! Had a hard time getting asleep afterwards
Review 91:The location is the reason why I always stay in Boyue when I have an early flight/train to catch at hongqiao The price is pretty good if you don't mind having no windows in your room Quick check in/out
Review 92:Finding out that I was that my booking was on the other sideof a 28 million person city,,It took over an hour and 2 taxis driverrs basicly more than double cost of room .It could not be figured out by driver or himself how to find entrance to hotel. After many underan overpass circles ,,I had him park at airport then no problems .
Review 93:This hotel is an excellent place to stay it has many more amenties than expexted,,good room for value. It is a aeesome transportation hub for China proper with buses and trains to take you where you want to go. ROOM IS modern have bellman how things work.
Review 94:. Windowless room although I am not claustrophobic . Presence of an Ash tray on the table suggests guests are allowed to smoke in non-smoking rooms . Breakfast cost of RMB156
Review 95:Location Easy walking access from the train station Same floor as check-in counters in Terminal 2
Review 96:Many rooms face inside of building (no window). Breakfast not included which was unclear and is very expensive, about 130CNY. Breakfast was poor, food was stale and cold.
Review 97:Room is clean, well maintained and comfortable.
Review 98:Wi-Fi is poor - but that's the case in most China hotels now
Review 99:Located in the airport building Low cost Comfortable Convenient for rail station too Good for a stopover
Review 100:- very slow and unstable WiFi in my room (upper floor) - in one of neighboring rooms, a lady had been expressing so loudly her feelings to what her partner were doing to her - and this lasts for at least an hour after 23 pm.. glad for them but not for their neighbours :)
Review 101:- very good and comfortable room and the airfield can be seen from my room - generally quiet yet located in the airport - 2 minutes by walking from hotel reception to the domestic check-in area (so - be careful in the morning as this may play a bad game to you :))
Review 102:Breakfast Spacious room View Staff Plenty of coffee
Review 103:The room we had was what we Askked for a view of the airport the only problem was we only had 1 double be and not 2 singles but a part from that it was exellant from a great breakfast until happy hour in the evening
Review 104:To me it is unusual that they charge a security deposit several times the cost of the room. What happened? Did someone torch one of their rooms with a flame thrower?
Review 105:Location.
Review 106:It is a very good hotel but probably need to have more staff. It is feels very lonely & isolated. Also arrangement for breakfast would be appreciated.
Review 107:Wifi is extremely good. Rooms are very cosy & comfortable. Location in terms of accessibility to Hongqiao airport & railway station is very good.
Review 108:A bit hard to find (few people inside the airport know the hotel even exists) Some broken fixtures already Staff not particularly friendly Poor door sound-proofing, little privacy and you can hear noisy neighbors
Review 109:Located right outside terminal 2 Very decent internet connection Comfortable bathroom (shower and bath)
Review 110:Not much. May be a little too far from downtown (tho subway is near), I would not choose this hotel if I want to tour around the city, but great for connection flight/train.
Review 111:The location was great, 10min walk inside the building to railway station, and less than 5min to airport departure. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Some room might be a little small if you have more than one big luggage.
Review 112:staff always try to bump you into smaller rooms even after booking weeks in advance. The 3rd time now this has happened and they try to blame Booking.com for cancelling the room every time.... Has very average selection of food and no entertainment
Review 113:location is great for accessing all china
Review 114:At the time of booking you are not mentioning the price at which we are booking the room is without window and very small Must mention to book accordingly
Review 115:Staff were a little distant Confusing to get between floors - poorly signed & where were the lifts???
Review 116:Location, comfort, cleanliness & modernity
Review 117:We arrived at the terminal after midnight, the doors were shut and airport security guards unhelpful. We couldn't speak mandarin so taxi drivers couldn'd explain how we were supposed to get to the hotel without walking on a motorway to the lower level! A friendly english speaking chinese couple hlped us in the end, but without them would have been screwed at that time of night.
Review 118:Right in the airport - But we actually needed the other terminal so had a shuttle bus to catch too.
Review 119:There could be clearer signs inside the airport for the hotel. I got out of terminal 2. Had to wander around and asked at least 2 persons to find the direction to the hotel. The hotel can use better signage inside the facility too. For instance, the direction to guest rooms.
Review 120:The staff was friendly and eager to help. The room was clean and well kept/appointed.
Review 121:no signs IN the airport except at only 50m from the entrance. And airport bad organized for helping you.
Review 122:it's a new and very good airport hotel at a convenient price at terminal 2, and... important to know... at departure level in the right corner. It's not te spend your holiday in Shanghai, but very good as 1 night stay, close to Honqjiao Airport AND railwaystation.
Review 123:Front desk staff was not friendly but bell desk people were cooperative.
Review 124:I enjoyed staying at this hotel because it was very comfortable and had relaxing environment. Easy traveling all around because it is at the airport terminal and subway station.
Review 125:Very little or rather no dining options. Had to buy sandwiches from airport which was almost closed at 10:00 PM.
Review 126:Excellent location. Perfect when you have early morning flight from same airport.
Review 127:No clock in room.
Review 128:5 minute walk to airline terminal. Nice room with comfortable bed at a good price. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Excellent service.
Review 129:Bad view! It's in an airport - I expected a view of the runway, not the carpark! A hair in one of the teacups :( No sign for the hotel in the flight Arrivals area (or anywhere else for that matter!). The only sign I found (& I looked everywhere!), was above the entrance to the short hallway leading to the hotel's entrance.
Review 130:Perfect location (once I found it!). Wonderfully professional, helpful, English speaking Reception & Concierge staff. Beautiful hotel. Fabulous room (super comfy). Great bathroom too! Thoroughly recommend this hotel if you want a night of luxury before or after a long flight.
Review 131:The pricing of food is high plus lack of buffet and menu is very short makes it difficult to satisfy your needs. I actual went and found better restaurants out in the airport.
Review 132:It's location, just walk out the door to catch that early flight (or high speed grain or subway), very clean and modern.
Review 133:Expensive breakfast not included; pretty difficult to find considering it is an airport hotel, with poor signage from the airport and train station. Being woken up by staff because of a fault on an alarm by the bath, then a loud and continous knocking on the door of a neighbouring room for a very long time, again by staff I assume.
Review 134:Excellent large bed, very comfortable, light spacious room, spacious bathroom with separate shower and bath, high quality soaps, shampoo and towels.
Review 135:People over there can't understand English and also can't speak English very well .
Review 136:I like the location near by the airport and railway station .
Review 137:On arrival we were told that they don't have the room that we booked available, instead the put us in a room with no window, the staff were not willing to change the room nor were they willing to listen to our complaint.
Review 138:guest services only available by phone - all attempts to reach the desk for anything other than check in or check out were intercepted by confusing and unhelpful members of staff. At checkout, staff charged the wrong card after being told explicitly which card to charge. Guest services took an hour and a half and three requests to respond to requests
Review 139:convenient for travellers passing through hongqiao, or spending a day or two in Shanghai - good access to the city
Review 140:The concierge was most helpful with availing train tickets for me but took twice as long due to his very limited English.
Review 141:Whilst in an airport, this guarantees a quiet nights sleep in a rather cosy room. Friendly bar staff in a bar and an added querky feature of a sliding wall for an entrance.
