Reviews for Hotel Grand Pacific

Review 1:Our stay was very enjoyable, even though they were going through extensive renovations. Arrangements were made to use the swimming pool at other hotels and the valet parking made up for the parkade being closed. Everything else was top notch as usual.

Review 2:Room without a view, well view of the Days Inn parking lot.

Review 3:Very comfortable bed in large room. Nice breakfast in dining room or quick breakfast in cafe.

Review 4:The staff, especially the Front Desk were always pleasant and very accommodating with information on where and what to do. The Food was very good and our Xmas dinner was "Delicious".

Review 5:Noise level was terrible due to the major renovations on the building. We were not able to have a much needed sleep in on both mornings.

Review 6:The location in the heart of beautiful Victoria. Loved the view of all the Christmas lights.

Review 7:They charges us $50 to have our hypoallergenic shitzu. They gave us two double beds instead of one king size as requested. The room looked nothing like the picture. It was small and old and the bathroom fan didn't work. Looks great as advertised but too bad it's not as advertised. The lady at the front desk was completely un professional and made reference to having a brain fart as she checked us in.

Review 8:The location

Review 9:Not a thing!

Review 10:As always, great accommodations, location, staff and overall experience. The Pacific Restaurant is wonderful. In our recent travels to your hotel, we have become friends of sorts with Timothy in the Pacific Restaurant who has been great. This past visit, he gave us great tips on holiday activities around town.

Review 11:First night there somewhere below our floor there was loud party- so called front desk and promptly taken care of.

Review 12:great location and property, excellent staffs

Review 13:The size of the room, we were beside an exit, which made our room tight. But since we were out most of the time,it was not a hindrance.

Review 14:Staff, location and nostalgic feel.

Review 15:Steps leading into the pool could be more gradual for handicapped persons.

Review 16:Large, beautifully appointed rooms. First class facilities throughout including the pool. Friendly and helpful staff, especially Brian who showed us to our bus to Butchert Gardens.

Review 17:I don't think there was an option to include breakfast when I booked.

Review 18:Our room was really comfortable and had a lovely view over the harbour. The location was very convenient for ferry passengers. I especially appreciated being able to make a cup of filter coffee in the room as I don't drink instant. The Wi-Fi worked well with none of that annoying having to keep logging in during our stay. Staff were very helpful throughout.

Review 19:Nothing. All staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 20:We especially loved the pool and spa. Location to city centre is excellent. Construction around the building didn't bother us. Thank you.

Review 21:Paid parking for hotel guests, even with self-parking. A hotel employee disturbed my wife, young daughter, and I while we were swimming, and asked us to move to a different part of the pool. He was correct in that the posted rules stated that the area we were in was reserved for lap swimmers, but the pool was nearly empty and nobody was waiting to use the area we were in, so that seemed a bit unnecessary. The pool was also not very warm, which my wife didn't like, but it was nice and clean and had a lot of nice space. A coffee maker was provided in our room, but we were unable to find coffee cups anywhere in our room.

Review 22:Great location, great views, indoor pool with hot tub and sauna, comfortable rooms with balconies, and mostly friendly staff. Very friendly people in Victoria in general. I also felt that the road map of Victoria provided in the room was a nice touch, as international visitors don't always have access to cellular data or Google maps, and Victoria has a lot to see.

Review 23:A marvelous hotel with a truly rich ambience. Hotel staff were more than helpful and very polite and professional. Cleaning staff terrific. Very happy and highly recommend. Another family member stayed as well in their own suite and were very pleased. Our next stay will be there.

Review 24:The room was right beside the elevator which was noisy and there was a smoke detector right above our bed which shone a nasty green light in our eyes all night. Extremely annoying and when I asked the front desk to cover the light with duct tape she said they couldn't! Another weird thing, there is a partition between the sink area and the toilet/bath area and all the towels were above the toilet so it was quite inconvenient to dry your hands. I would NEVER stay here again because of that smoke detector light. Ruined my sleep and the front desk staff didn't seem to give a damn about it?

Review 25:We were told at check in that we had been upgraded to a suite which was a nice surprise!

Review 26:The fact that my room was over a room holding a wedding and the constant noise for about 5 hours that eventually drove me out of the room

Review 27:Ok hotel but my first night was a night I did not plan on from a hotel so rated.

Review 28:Nothing!

Review 29:Free guest computer 24/7 and up to 5 pages of printing meant I could easily get my boarding pass for the next day. Excellent service right from the doorman to the front desk, the lounge and at breakfast the next day. Very pleasant housekeeping staff as well.

Review 30:It was a little bit cool in the room at times - had to use blanket to watch TV on a couple of occasions.

Review 31:Loved the suite and the fantastic view. Quiet surroundings. Great location!

Review 32:The room decor was gorgeous and welcoming. We received an upgrade which was a bonus to the most loveliest suite. The concierge was so helpful. Great facilities incl. heated pool and aquatic centre sauna, steam room & gym. Fantastic location. Definitely coming back and recommending.

Review 33:Booking.com offered me an upgrade for $0. But my rate went up from 139 to 159. That is not a free upgrade. We were put in a room overlooking construction on one wing of the hotel. At 8 am construction noise woke us. I complained and the hotel reduced the rate.

Review 34:Would have liked the room to be a bit roomier. Poor view.

Review 35:Elegant. Very near the Empress. Easy walk to south downtown. Next to beautiful water and good museum. Concierge was excellent.

Review 36:Little sleep received due to noise coming from mini fridge in room. Also, poorest location, right next to construction area outside our balcony. The room we were given should not be rented during the construction process, unless there is absolutely nothing else available in the hotel. Complaints to front desk manager were met with acceptable compensation.

Review 37:Staff is always friendly, accommodating. Interior of hotel common areas is very well kept...sparkling! Excellent location relative to city centre.

Review 38:was not too impressed with dinner for the price in the hotel restaurant. Although Breakfast was excellent and great value

Review 39:Location was Perfect . Staff was very friendly and very helpful. My wife was in a wheelchair and they made sure of our total comfort. All the staff was welcoming and room were very clean with great view of the city.

Review 40:Receptionist was not friendly. I paid for a view room and didn't get it. When I complained she said it was a view of the residences I paid for. I looked it up on my computer and called for a Manager who righted the situation immediately. Also thought the $18/night parking shocking.

Review 41:Awesome stay right in the heart of Victoria. Close to so many sights. Beautiful room, incredible view, helpful staff.

Review 42:Upgraded to suite. It felt like we were in Wonderland. Victoria was breathtaking. A beautiful experience for a group of middle class seniors. Thank you.

Review 43:We are just used to have complimentary water and breakfast in the US. Since this is Canada, it is probably standard not provide more than wifi and bed plus towels etc.

Review 44:Access to the Port. Outstanding.

Review 45:The restaurant staff. On the first day a fellow served us who was great and the next day we had a lady who turned us off so badly we never returned again to dine there.

Review 46:Location and friendly hotel staff as well as clean accommodations

Review 47:Perhaps I was especially fortunate. I had a fabulous room which in fact was a suite with heaps of space. Breakfast was served in a full service restaurant with friendly helpful staff. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Review 48:Room service sandwich and chips were cold.

Review 49:The concierge Murray was very helpful in organising our return to Vancouver and advising us on places to go in Victoria. Complimentary bikes were great .

Review 50:The wi-fi was very poor. We had business to conduct over the internet and in the end, after repeated requests for the wi-fi to be reset, the receptionist gave us a cord to use as she said the reception was always bad. We would have appreciated the cord to start with, not after repeated attempts to get her to reset the wi-fi. The hotel was very old, and needed a complete refurbishment. It was dark and dingy and was in desperate need of paint and new carpets.

Review 51:The hotel was located close to the city

Review 52:I dId not receive the room I requested. & paid extra for. The staff said the only guarantees are if you book direct with them. I sent a complaint to booking & the staff even lied about the checkin time. Worst was mould in bathroom - that is how bad the room was. Way overpriced for dumpy old room.

Review 53:Rooms were spacious, clean, equiped with everything you might need, iron, hair dryer, coffee, double sinks, one in bathroom, one right outside, view of harbor was spectacular. Great location!

Review 54:Not a thing; our stay was wonderful--thanks to all the great staff!

Review 55:The friendly, gracious staff throughout the hotel from registration to Cate and the gentleman concierge to the restaurant staff and Mathew and the nice gentlemen outside the front door. Lovely hotel, great location.

Review 56:The staff was so friendly and they had bikes for free available at the front so we could go bike around the island with Carry packs and love cos so awesome

Review 57:The beds were poorly made up and bottom sheets and mattress pads were always wrinkled.

Review 58:Perfect location and the harbor view was spectacular. The breakfasts at the restaurant were freshly prepared and delectable. The staff was pleasant and accommodating.

Review 59:We had booked a harbour view double room but were told on arrival this wasn't available. However after some delay we were given a room with a view of the water. The duvet cover on the bed wasn't very clean-the following day this was rectified after leaving a note for the housekeepers.

Review 60:Wonderful location and helpful concierge.

Review 61:No

Review 62:The suite was very comfortable and very spacious. Spa was amazing, and Murray concierge was so helpful. Dessert was yummy in the hotel restaurant. It was quiet and beautiful view.

Review 63:Everything was great but we had a room change that involved moving from a water view to a regular room. Though the regular room did overlook some unsightly rooftop pipes, both rooms had a partial view of the water. In some ways, the "non-water-view" room had a fuller view of the harbor (though not straight on like the other room). Made me wish I had not paid the higher price for the view room. I would be willing to pay more for a room with a panoramic view of the harbor though.

Review 64:The location was perfect--within walking distance of many attractions. It was very convenient to the Coho ferry. Very clean with beautiful lobby. Would come back in a heartbeat.

Review 65:The bed was a bit too firm for my wife's taste. The bar is very dull with no views so we went to the Days Inn bar next door and sat on the deck overlooking the harbour.

Review 66:Upgrade to a suite! Fantastic room and view. Good service and free wifi!

Review 67:No breakfast included and also no smoking all around, not even on the balcony with closed doors.

Review 68:Central location, nice room and possibility to swim and excercise.

Review 69:Vintage design was nice but a bit outdated in room. For the price it could be a bit more modern (washroom was tight) better shower. Fish tacos were not very good at the restaurant.

Review 70:Good view, great atmosphere and location. Being able to walk to the parliament building at night was a bonus. Seafood chowder was amazing at the restaurant!

Review 71:Advice only the room could do with a few more draw spaces for someone on a long trip.

Review 72:The check in was very easy, & staff were excellent. The room was large and the beds were very comfortable ( great sleep during our stay ) the areas of the hotel have that Victoria magic & suits the location being right by the parliament building which is very worth a visit & its free tour. Swimming pool & gym excellent ( lane swimming is an additional plus, as we swim every day. ) We would defiantly book this hotel again if we return to Victoria. The outside areas are immaculate and Bob the duck man who looks not only the gardens but the beautiful ducks that fly in to the water lakes by the hotel he is pure Magic and a very nice man.

Review 73:I was traveling with my mother (89) who needed an electric scooter for mobility. The hotel gave us their special room for those with mobility issues and it was great!! We had her scooter in the room with an automated door opener, large walk in shower with seat! All excellent! Mom was very comfortable. Wonderful experience!!

Review 74:Nothing.

Review 75:The location is excellent right on the harbor and across the street from the ferry terminal. The views from the views are beautiful. The health club and pools are particularly nice.

Review 76:Swimming pool changing area could be improved, towels provided are of a mean size.

Review 77:Great position immediately adjacent to ferry terminals. Good sized rooms and public areas of hotel.

Review 78:When we checked in, the girl on the front desk said we had a room with 2 dbl beds. Knew we reserved for 1 King. We were told they did not guarantee the type of bed just a bed with reservations with booking.com. I have used booking .com for years and told her that had never happened before and if they were not going to honor the selection perhaps they should opt out of participating with Booking.com. End result we did get a King as she frowned the entire time of "adjusting others" to accommodate us.

Review 79:The double bed is smaller than we are used to. The room smells damp and old. The kettle boiled over with no auto stop. I bought a BBQ bun from the courtyard cafe. It was virtually empty inside the bun with tiny slices of pork.

Review 80:Location

Review 81:We didnt like the fact that some of the furnishings were dated and we couldn't get the Blue Jay game on TV

Review 82:We were celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary and when we arrived to check in, the hotel had upgraded us to a suite. That was a lovely surprise

Review 83:We were not happy with our first room, overlooking a roof top with garbage on it . We asked for a different room and got it. The room key was very finicky and frustrating. The furniture has a lot of wear.

Review 84:The bed was amazing ! The location was perfect .

Review 85:I had a room on the back of the hotel, where it was shady, cool, and quiet. The little balcony opened up right beside my bed, so I really had relaxed, cheerful and breezy mornings in bed. I needed this business trip to be a vacation as well. The hectic pace of preparation and travel was soothed by your excellent staff, comfortable beds, and calming elegant surroundings. Thanks Grand Pacific. I will be back.

Review 86:We were patrons the weekend of June 14th for the Victoria Triathlon. Our room was nice with view straight at the harbor. We were so pleased that we came back to Victoria the end of July with the same room request along with an additional room for our daughter to share with her grandmother. Neither of our rooms had a view of the Harbor and we were told we could not change rooms. For years we have stayed at the Delta Harbor or the Empress. Your location is nice but we were very disappointed that our request was not fulfilled especially when we brought guests.

Review 87:Shower power was weak and we couldn't get into a king room.

Review 88:The location right across the street from the harbor was great and the concierge mad sure our restaurant selections were great for each meal.

Review 89:Well ! Awful ! The restaurant had an appearance of a five star but the service and the treatment was worse than one star. our waitress did not greet us 'who want coffee', she yelled neither hello or a smile, wedging herself, leaning agasnt the wall forcing my friend to lean away from her , stood their scanning her eyes impatiently waiting for answer. This is suppose to be 4-5 five star hotel restaurant . We thought she was a server helper, until she slap a latte to my wife croosing Infront of my face, I have to lean back, and off she went without a word. We realized she might be our waitress . So far it sound like the restaurant was full, unfortunate only 7 tables with guess, and 3 servers. From there it just got worse. I had munch better service at Deny. On top of all I started to notice our host had arranged seating according to Race . If I did not know any better , ,I thought I was living in a different decade . I and my guess were very upset. Would not stay there again , neither I and my guess would recommend to anybody.

Review 90:Well ! I really like the front desk reception . They were great and supper efficient . But unfortunately that end there .

Review 91:We booked a room for our anniversary and were treated with great hospitality and even got a room upgrade and free desserts because of our wedding anniversary thank you so much to the grand Pacific

Review 92:Upon check in, the staff was unable to point out and recommend activities for my party during my stay (2 nights). The staff actually indicated that nothing was happening in Victoria during those days. Later through local newspapers we realized there was free Shakespeare in the park and free outdoor movie a block away from the hotel, just to mention a few. Disappointing customer service.

Review 93:Location.

Review 94:Because we arrived late, there was no twin room available that night --we had to have a cot brought in. According to the hotel, they had notreceived the correct room request from Booking.com, although it wasclear on the booking confirmation and I had called the hotel a few daysbefore arrival to confirm the request.

Review 95:Location was great. There was a problem with the initial roomassigned to us (only one bed instead of two). Once that was fixed, things were ok.

Review 96:Breakfast could have been nicer. The place didn't have a warm feel about it.

Review 97:Great Location. Room was beautiful and well looked after. Great view from balconies (yes plural!!) Some staff were very friendly but seemed very pressured and busy.

Review 98:No on demand movies. Breakfast service was extremely slow, appeared to be too few staff. Table clearing was also very slow. People had to wait to be seated.

Review 99:we like the location and staff.

Review 100:Pool was only indoor, but ok given the weather.

Review 101:Fabulous position on the harbour in beautiful Victoria. Walked from theferry/bus from Vancouver and to the Clipper Ferry to Seattle. Veryhelpful tour desk organising next day tours at short notice.

Review 102:Being up all night fixing a toilet

Review 103:Toilet didn't work -water constantly fliwed. 2 maintenance men came to fix it at 2 times and it still wasn't fixed.

Review 104:Everybody was really nice and friendly. We got there early and were able to check in before 10 AM. Awesome! Kudos to Timothy (?) and the restaurant staff for a fun(ny) lunch!

Review 105:not enough elevators,

Review 106:Great location and our favorite place to stay in Victoria. So many things are so close. Great to have coffee shop in basement. Valet and baggage guys out in front are fantastic and always helpful.

Review 107:WiFi was too slow and didn't connect despite multiple tries at two different times during our stay. I manage a small business, and this was a let down. Bathroom was clean but had dark lines at seams, where the tub joined the floor for example (didn't look right). Towels felt cheap. Taps opened up spraying water out of control. Lamp in the corner wouldn't light despite being plugged in (teapot plugged in to the same outlet worked). Overall a good hotel, but 9.0? No.

Review 108:Location was great!

Review 109:I had asked for a view of the harbor (because the rooms have balconies) but was given a room on a side street. However,it was a very busy weekend and they could not accommodate everyone. Try to get a view of the harbor - its worth it!

Review 110:Very nice hotel in the Victoria harbor and right across from the ferry terminal so very convenient if you have luggage and do not have a car. Also within easy walking distance of the Fairmont (many tours leave from there) and downtown. Beautiful hotel with great location and friendly, accommodating staff.

Review 111:I wish there were a couple pillows in the room that were thinner.

Review 112:Loved everything about this hotel and would definitely stay here again and will be recommending it to others. Great location, staff, clean, comfy.

Review 113:Room had the 'stale odor'. You expect that from cheaper old hotels but it was present here.

Review 114:Great location! It is right on the waterfront and walking distance to the inner harbour. Lots of parking as well.

Review 115:Booked through Booking.com and thought I had a view room - which I did not when I arrived. I also asked for a room high and I was put on 2nd floor.

Review 116:Front desk did everything they could do to get us a better room -- on the eighth floor.

Review 117:The pool and facilities were shared with a gym membership would have been nice to have an area for hotel guests only

Review 118:Location and the hotel was very nice

Review 119:Hotel great location, staff very friendly However disappointed with the Breakfast staff First we had to wait about 8 minutes to get seated Service was very slow when we got a seat We asked the waitress for an extra plate which never came However there was no shortage of staff in the dining room. We counted seven staff at one time. I feel there is need for improvement in this area Thank you

Review 120:The staff were amazing. Always friendly and cheerful, especially the resteraunt staff. The hotel was in a great location. It was within walking distance of attractions and shopping. We would definitely stay at the Grand Pacific again and recommend it to friends.

Review 121:Wonderful room had an intermittently noisy fan/airconditioner that maintenance wasn't able to resolve. Not a major problem, because we closed the doors to that room while we slept but we still heard it during the night. Also, be aware that the swimming pool is not very grade-school age kid friendly. Its a great lap pool! and there is a kiddie pool but the other occupants of the main pool in the morning at least are workout minded and in the evenings there is a block of adult-only swim time. Also the pool is located off the fitness center which means you have to go through the lobby and down a level to get to it. also, we had some wifi issues with iPad and iPod but maybe due to device? it worked fine on mac laptop

Review 122:The Victoria Suite was wonderful - view, two balconies, beautiful furniture, two rooms plus bath. The staff responded to our complaint promptly and the next day when we explained how it wasn't resolved they waived parking fee and gave us a card for discount next time. We felt satisfied with their response.

Review 123:Rooms are a little dated. Parking garage is poorly designed and difficult to park in.

Review 124:Great location, comfortable room. Nice amenities. Appreciated the balcony with view.

Review 125:We paid for a Pacific View room. When we arrived, they offered us 2 rooms, one smelled of urine, the other of cigars. The only room left was a downgrade. No other choice.

Review 126:The lovely location on the harbor, and the view from the room we had paid for that we finally got our second night there.

Review 127:We loved the location, within walking distance to everything that Victoris has to offer. The beds where very comfortable and we enjoyed the view and sunshine on our balcony

Review 128:The rooms and hallways seem a bit out of shape. We received a room change for our second night, as our first room had some stains on the carpet and curtains. They really need an in-house coin laundry too.

Review 129:It's an easy walk from the ferry as well as all other forms of public transportation. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and they let us hang out in the lounge for a couple hours before we had to leave.

Review 130:central location close to attractions and amenities but around the bend from the major traffic/crowd congestion. Lovely staff and spacious comfortable rooms.
