Reviews for Hotel Deutsches Haus

Review 1:- No minibar in the rooms. - There is free wifi service but the signal is weak and frequently cuts off and comes back.

Review 2:- Nice location - Budget hotel, prices are really competitive.

Review 3:The only thing negative I can say is that the style of the decor is dated. It was clean and in good repair, just not current.

Review 4:The rooms were large and comfortable. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We stated here for the Christmas market, it was going on right outside the front door!

Review 5:For me, it's a hotel of memory. I stay often here when I havebusiness trip to bs or wob. The staff are very friendly here, the roomare clean and the ambient is excellent. And it's just in the centerof the city with the fantastic location. Strongly recommended

Review 6:Internet was simply unusable whole stay. Yes, this can heapen, but noby cares aboit it. Incase of bussins trip, today this is same as to be without water.

Review 7:location

Review 8:If had a bad experience with the TV. It is incredible that a good hotel does not offer international chanels. Perhaps due to I booked a cheaper offer, my room had not international signal. It is not acceptable.

Review 9:The location is appropiate and the staff is very kind. Comfort very good and cleanliness excellent

Review 10:Arrived late, around 22:00, unable to get anything to eat, even the bar was closed, but managed to find a barman who turned the lights on again and served us a beer. :-)

Review 11:Impressive building, lots of character and a great location in the center of town.

Review 12:At each alternate day break-fast was served either by a gentleman or a lady. Everything was alright when served by the gentleman. Lack of politeness and attentiveness was felt when served by the lady

Review 13:Friendliness and hospitality of Desk Managers

Review 14:Hotel in splendida posizione centrale. Staff molto cortese. Parcheggio molto comodo. Camera con vista magnifica sulla piazza della Cattedrale. Hotel in the city centre of Braunschweig. Very kind staff. Very easy parking. Room with a very nice view over the Cathedral square.

Review 15:Only stayed 1 night however a Beautiful hotel in and equally beautiful city. Very clean, nice large bathrooms, friendly staff, parking on site (payable). Good value, Highly recommended

Review 16:Re-wiring work in the hallway created an a slightly unpleasant smell (from the old exposed brickwork) and seemed a bit of a hazard as some of the cables were hanging so low that they were at head height and we had to walk around them. The bathroom

Review 17:Location

Review 18:If check in very late, one old man cannot speak English while the other old man can speak some English. Anyway, it doesn't matter. Recommended.

Review 19:This is a boutique hotel located in the old town in Braunchweig. The hotel building itself is very great. The sorrounding area is a very nice old square. Easy to travel by tram from the hauptbahnhof. Good facilities, reasonable prices and nice services.

Review 20:I wish there was a class between "good" and "excellent". My room was very comfortable and spacious. Immaculately clean and just about everything supplied to please a traveller except..... Why no in-room coffee maker!

Review 21:The ambience. Definitely NOT your standard chain hotel

Review 22:No cable TV, only local channels on a very old and tiny CRT TV. Restaurant was OK but a bit expensive.

Review 23:In the border of the pedestrian zone, so you have downtown nearby and good public transport.

Review 24:Nothing to dislike!

Review 25:Everything about this hotel was excellent. very easy to get to from the main train station (I asked the bus driver who let me off at Rathaus, and gave directions). Location was perfect. Walking distance to most attractions and shopping centres, and a Christmas Market on your doorstep! Breakfast buffet was fresh and plenty of variety. Friendly, helpful staff. Would definitely stay again.

Review 26:Everything excellent except for a rather surly waitress at breakfast (though the food was very good and all other staff were very helpful.)

Review 27:We were there for a private group dinner and the food was excellent and the staff very friendly and constantly attentive all day. Reception also very obliging (e.g., shifted booking to a family room with two young children, rather than just adding a bed). The hotel is imbued with a nice historical atmosphere.

Review 28:During online booking I asked for quiet room. They completely ignored me and from 10PM to 2 AM I had to listen to very loud noises from local pub or restaurant and from 6:30 AM extremely loud noises from building site just next to the hotel. I was very tired after such a noisy night in the Hotel. There is Wifi working only until 24:00, and I have no idea why. There is no complimentary bottle of water, you will have to pay for it 2.50 Euro. To get to the car park is a little bit tricky due to road reconstruction (Aug 2014)

Review 29:Nice, clean hotel, good value for money. In the heart of the city.

Review 30:Directly in the center Wonderful view from the window Nice personnel

Review 49:The male staff when I checked in was very nice. And the location is great, just in the corner of the Burgplatz.

Review 76:Small bed Old TV

Review 78:Old house near the Kohlmarkt Innerstadt. Private parkingplace right outside the main enterance.

Review 79:nothing elevator a little slow

Review 80:everything

Review 81:we didn't take breakfast, but were charged 80 Euro breakfast fee.

Review 82:good location

Review 83:The location and the staff.

Review 84:The beds were a little to hard for our liking.

Review 85:Our room was newly refurbished spacious excellent standard. Bathroom spacious. Walk in shower..hairdryer supplied..everything was of high standards,, receptionist were extremely helpful with directions and advise with anything we needed..thankyou for a pleasurable and memorable stay..we will be returning in the future..

Review 86:I ordered a double bed room, but got a single bed. A bit small. Parking overnight costed EUR8. A bit expensive.

Review 87:Perfect location for a day trip. 10min walk to all the key spots in the downtown. Retro decoration - there is a classic tele-radio in the room. Nice service - it is possible to do early check-in.

Review 88:Excellent location, right in the centre of the city and directly across the square from the Dom. They served a nice breakfast (for 10 Euros) with lots of choices. High ceilings and nice (traditional) furnishings help with the sense of grandeur. The set of armour on the stairs is a fun touch.

Review 89:The pillow is poor. The acoustic isolation of the door is not good; people slamming the door of their rooms too hard woke me up a couple of times.

Review 90:The location is very good.

Review 91:The room was cold, the comforter short and at 6:30 am they started to make some noise so I was not able to sleep properly.

Review 92:Perfect location with reasonable prices.

Review 93:Its a little dated in style but its not pretending to be any thing different...stayed 15 years ago and its not really changed since, not sure if it will apeal to everyone but as I said its part of its charm. The only other thing I can say is that the doors are directly opening from the room to the corridor which is quite noisy , really need more sound-proofing around them. Maybe tea/coffe making facilities in the room also.

Review 94:Had made a request when booking and this was dealt with which we were delighted with. The hotel is in a great location and is clean and comfortable. The girl that checked us in on the Friday was friendly and very accommodating to us..the rest I dealt with where quite clinical. Lovely charming hotel in a great location in the center of Braunschweig and we'll definitely stay again the next time we visit.

Review 95:Very noisy rooms…those facing the courtyard had no outside noise, but all the hallway noise comes in…I could tell you exactly what a man said on the phone across the hall from me! The restaurant here is terrible, especially for the price! Breakfast was typical European & honestly not very good either…if you have another option on that one use it as well.

Review 96:Perfect location, right in the center of the Christmas Market! Easy to park (early in the day) & then walk to anything nearby. Rooms were nice size, clean & cozy.

Review 97:No Tea/Coffee making facilities in room. Was only a single bed when requested double. Should be more clear on website if there is not an option for double beds in a single room

Review 98:Nice clean rooms with character. Great location, really good food. Also very cute Bar!

Review 99:The hotel was better than I expected from a 3-star place, and the location is unbeatable, so no complaints.

Review 100:Location and the fact that I could bring my large dog. Parking was excellent. The hotel is spacious. The Italian restaurant is very good.

Review 101:I stayed in the D.H. four times and I liked it more and more. It's difficult to single out separate advantages. Each visit of this hotel I felt at home.

Review 102:top floor room was warm (stayed in June), no AC

Review 103:Located close to the cathedral Beautiful building from the late 1800s. Nice room (#75), very good breakfast buffet

Review 104:Everything in this hotel was very good. The breakfast was superb very good selection of food ,Hot & cold buffet.Very friendly staff & most helpful. Was very impressed with the service, nothging was to much troube,Enjoyed our 3night stay .Perfect location for walking to attractions ,

Review 105:The price of breakfast is too high. The room wasnt non-smoking. Central heating system is not working good, but if in summer it doesn't matter.

Review 106:Hotel Deutsches Haus located in the very city center. We could see ratushe from our windows. Room was comfortable with wide ceiling , big bed with canopy and big bath room. Very helpful staff, good breakfast in the restorant with the excellent view on the central cathedral and the statue of lion-the symbol of Braunsweik. Free wifi, elevator. Cleaning every day, changing towels.

Review 107:Elegant, characterful old hotel in a very nice setting. Spacious and cool even on a hot day, without the need for air conditioning. My room was huge and stylishly decorated with a big bathroom and I was very comfortable in there. Excellent breakfast, well worth the extra charge and free use of the hotel computer. Very pleasant and helpful staff.

Review 108:No coffee or teamaker (not standard in most hotels in Germany) No wash cloths--we found this at all hotels we visited in Germany Noisy kitchen staff below our room at 10:30PM Breakfast was not served until 8AM --not even coffee in the lobby for early risers (coffee machine for cappicino at 2E a cup)

Review 109:It was in the city center surrounded by palaces and next to the huge Church. The dining room overlooked the plaza and was very old and large. The breakfast buffet (cost 10E) was quite adequate with sausages and scrambled eggs plus all the other European fair including lots of pastries and fruit The price was good for the budget minded

Review 110:I got a smoking room and it smelled a bit. If they offer smoking and non-smoking rooms, they should make costumers choose when making the reservation. A fridge in the room would be convenient (there actually is space for it).

Review 111:My room was clean, comfortable and warm (outside it was freezing), and it had a table and chair to work (no all hotels offer this).

Review 112:Localization of hte hotel is perfect in the city of Braunschweig, thehotel building is aloso nice. We can read that the hotel took part inthe organisation of even such as the night of the murder....

Review 113:When we ran a bath, the water came out brown.....!We found one of the receptionists very rude. When we got our bill, we had been charged for breakfast for 2 mornings when we only ordered and took breakfast the first morning. Instead of apologising and changing our bill, she said 'Oh well, it's been put on there now'. We had to really be quite assertive before she very reluctantly refunded our money. There was no apology.

Review 114:Location is excellent. Bed very comfy. Nice bathroom with shower andbath.

Review 115:old, stuffy room toilet flush needs minutes before it can be flushed again television heavility used, number on remote not decipherable anymore

Review 116:Location very central Free parking cheap

Review 117:I suppose if you do not upgrade you will not get a good view. The roomis just furniture business like. You have to pay for internet also therewas no kettle in our room - seems to be the norm for German Hotels notto have kettles in the rooms :-(

Review 118:The location of the hotel is excellent, it is in the old town ofBraunschweig, some views of the hotel must be lovely. The room hadeverything ones needs for comfort.
