Reviews for Hotel Alpina
Review 1:We wish they had their restaurant open because it was much more casual looking than the hotel down the street that they partner with. I think it would be good for them to stick to their own place and handle everything. So nice and friendly compared to the other place.
Review 2:The staff was very friendly, not stuffy and serious as the other places we visited in Kanderseg. They had lots of info to share and answered all our questions.
Review 3:No staff on site all evening; no tea or coffee available anywhere in the building until breakfast.
Review 4:Very helpful chap on reception-when he finally arrived from their sister hotel.
Review 5:Doesn't really qualify as bad but wifi signal in the room was weak...had to go out on porch or downstairs....but this does not rise to "bad"
Review 6:Very good location in Kandersteg. A wonderful small family run hotel. Probably the nicest room of any on our 21 day trip.
Review 7:The breakfast was disappointing. Poor choice of cereals and the fresh fruit was past its best. There was no fresh bread on our first morning.
Review 8:The hotel manager was very helpful, she came to the station to meet us. The hotel was comfortable, but in need of some updating.
Review 9:Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was the highlight of our stay. We enjoyed the breakfast, the room was bright and spacious, great mountain views and good powerful shower with plenty of hot water. Hotel well located for town centre. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
Review 10:Relatively costly, as expected in the location. No food available in the evening. No tea/coffee facilities in room.
Review 11:Fairly basic but very clean and very friendly. We got delayed beyond the book-in deadline but it wasn't a problem. The ream offered to come to the station to pick up our baggage.
Review 12:Didn't like: no staff available after 6:00pm; place had a lot of guests smoking on their decks with smoke entering my room; room was very hot. No fridge/AC.
Review 13:Like: proximity to train station, amazing views of waterfall, high mountains, glacier, natural greenery, large deck with table & chairs and great view.
Review 14:It took a bit of time to convince the receptionist to allow bikes to be stored safely. Note £3k bikes can't just be stored in racks in the garden!!
Review 15:Brekkie was great. Beds were comfortable. Location was top notch.
Review 16:We were a family of three and received a room with a double bed a sofa and two additional beds underneath the roof that you have to climb 2.3 meters on a ladder in order to reach them. I find this arrangement dangerous and inconvenient especially if you gave small children or children who afraid of height. Moreover, the room picture when reservation showed stairs to the upper floor with the children beds.
Review 17:The room was very clean, there was a good breakfast, a free parking, free WiFi.
Review 18:Only wifi in the rather dated lounge area, could do with a refurb in there, not conducive for relaxing.
Review 19:The room with an extra loft room for our son was excellent.
Review 20:we travelled with a 2 year old infant along with 2 other friend couples. The hotel owner (staff) couldn't be more worse. We are from London and have seen the best of customer experience but in this hotel the lady was so rude and arrogant that she brought my wife to tears. The only thing my wife requested twice was to wash the baby bottles and thermos flask and she started yelling, smashing dishes and was like I don't have whole day to work. My wife kept apologising for no reason and started crying upon her behaviour and came back to room in tears. She was so hurt that she said that she doesn't want to stay here any longer and want to go back home. The hotel was expensive with worst customer service. During Check-out while I was complaining to the lady owner upon her behaviour but the only thing she was interested in was taking payment and while i was talking to her she kept handing over the card reader to me so I make the payment. Ridiculous people. I have never had such a bad experience in my life on such a huge cost. I will not recommend anyone to stay in this hotel.
Review 21:If you're looking for a decent place for an overnight stay, Hotel Alpina can be considered an option. The room's comfortable enough without any frills. Mind you, the shower space can be a little challenged, so be warned. Check in was quite straight forward & very matter-a-fact, don't expect any friendly welcoming gestures.
Review 22:We have stayed at this hotel twice with three small children. It is great. The room we stayed in had a loft and the kids loved it. The view from the room is great. We really like this hotel.

Review 40:Location was excellent. Can walk to pretty much anywhere within 5-15 minutes. The view was beautiful. The staff was excellent! Very nice and helpful. They spoke English as well. Also free parking. Even though the facility is older it felt warm and welcoming, a comfortable feeling. Breakfast was simple but good. Choices of cereal, or meat and cheeses, fruit, yogurt. Also coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice. Also breads, even homemade bread and jam. My husband and I only got to stay one night but we wished we would have stayed longer. We would go back for sure.
Review 41:From the time we arrived we felt very welcome and were alwayswillingly assisted with all our plans, from hiring ski equipment, contacting the ski instructors for us, to taking us to the stationwhen we left. The meals were delicious and the rooms were cosy andwarm, with amazing views.
