Reviews for The Avalon Tourist Suites
Review 1:The room is quite small even for two guests, because you don't have much space to accommodate your luggage.
Review 2:It is very close of many facilities, such as drug stores, market and restaurants. There is a metro station in the same street and it is perfect for whom arrive at Pearson Airport and want to go to the hotel through the Toronto public transport.
Review 3:Room was quite small and required ducking many times to get around. Could barely fit in shower.
Review 4:Really well renovated. Great updated appliances and facilities.
Review 5:The building is lovely historical so I sometimes hear some noise from the room above or next room. If you are very sensitive about noise, it might be uncomfortable sometimes. but was not big deal for me.
Review 6:It was clean, comfortable and great location. The furniture at the accommodation is so nice. They offer free wi-fi and was good connection. I could walk to central easily and station is just 3 mins. There are a lot of coffee shops or restaurant and a super market around there. I didn't see any staff during my stay however, it was a good accommodation. I recommend this to my friends.
Review 7:. Management Not To Be Trusted. Do not stay here if you wish to have a good sleep at night, No one is around at night so lots of noise from guests and not a thing you can do about it. Management will lie on here to try and be put down guest's that write a poor review do not trust this guest house.Management did not respond to my email about the noise above coming from a guest till 3am this went on for 3 nights.I sent email as instructed to do and nothing.I got an email 3 days later to say my email had gone to their spam. I was not able to call as I did not have a phone coming from the UK. Spam this is meant to be a guest house and for them to help you if you require it.I would not trust anything the owners say on here or by email, They are not to be trusted. Do not trust them they lie to you and lie on here. they will make things up on here about you. Just read back all those that have posted poor reviews. Then make up your own mind.I got an email to say they would reimburse me for a full days stay. I never heard anything further and I gave it over a month so see if they would refund me for the lack of sleep I had as a guest in at the guest house. I do not write reviews as a rule however I feel so let down. The area of the Guest house is not good at night beware lots of high crime and drug addicts. Groups of men sit across from the guest house. Drunk and on drugs. My friend would not let me walk to guest house on my own he drove me from down town. I am a man from Glasgow and used to waling about at night. However it is bad even Glasgow looks safe. It is a great city just parts very rundown with drugs and crack houses. However some very high end homes just street away that is very strange. Told me never to book anything in that area again. Do your research on the area. It will tell you it is a bad area for drugs and crime. However only 5 minuets away they have nice shopping street. Do not walk about at night get a taxi.
Review 8:Nice room, However guest above made noise till 3am over 3 nights of my stay so very little sleep.
Review 9:The only downside was that the internet did not work well enough to use the Netflix that was offered but we were there to explore the city not hang out and watch TV so it's not really a problem. It was strong enough to use our
Review 10:The hotel is a block away from the subway which is great! Our room was sunny, had great storage, a fantastic shower, comphy bed and a coffee maker with loads of coffee! We were very happy with everything! Also the decor of the hotel is super cute and funky!
Review 11:Almost nothing! Only thing that there were no lifts in the building so be prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs. They are pretty narrow!
Review 12:Very nicely designed place. Clean and very comfortable. There was very little contact with the owners and it's pretty much an independent traveller kind of style. Close walk to subway with 24h food available nearby.
Review 13:We are not very picky, but in this case were stunned obvious discrepancy with the description. 1. The staff. we saw the young man just once after 10 min of waiting time - when we arrived . The entrance door was locked and nobody responded the doorbell... When we need some help we were not helped - that man was sleeping in his room (11am) and refuse to wake up 2. room (it was a Standard Queen Studio) located on the 3rd floor with narrow and very steep staircase. Room itself looks modern and attractive, but hard to use more than for 1 night. It is NOT what you see on the pictures! TV hung up to the celling and you can watch only from the bed. The celling has many angles limited you movement. There are no stove, washer and dishwashing machine in the room as advertized - only in the building basement for common use. Only ridge, coffee machine, kettle and microwave were in the room... The sink in the bathroom is very small and narrow. 3. parking semi available just on the few busy streets and it is hard to understand the borders... So you have to be very accurate to avoid parking ticket.
Review 14:Where to begin: thin walls, animal shuffling around in the attic, no hot water, no water pressure, bad communication skills by owner and staff, thin door to washroom, very uncomfortable and squeaky bed. I would only recommend this place to a twenty something backpacker who just doesn't care about comfort.
Review 15:Nice idea and concept with private guesthouse rooms. Liked the TV over the bed and the furniture.
Review 16:Difficult to find and not a very affordable assistance. I know it is not a hotel, but there was litterally nobody, not even during the day. Location is not the best ever. Area is not nice. Residential and no shoprs or restaurants around. No door in the bathroom!!!!!!!
Review 17:Very nice furnished, adorable building.
Review 18:Our apartment had been double booked for two of our four nights. We were required to move to another location which was nowhere near as satisfactory in both standard and location.
Review 19:A beautifully decorated comfortable apartment
Review 20:Far better then any hotel! An amazing room which felt like home. The staff was so accommodating. They allowed me to check in early and then leave my luggage for the day when leaving. This saved me travelling with a big suitcase downtown! I wouldn't hesitate in booking again!
Review 21:No kettle in the kitchen. Stairs were narrow and steep. With 3 of us in the unit there was no room for suit cases. We were given the wrong room code to unlock the unit, luckily there was a staff member there to finally assist. There was no door on the bathroom
Review 22:Location is great. Cooking facilities were basic but good
Review 23:My only complaints would be, as nice as the rooms were they were very small and wouldn't suggest for a family or friends who aren't comfortable sharing a bed. You also don't get much privacy in the bathrooms, other than that I loved it!
Review 24:Place was fantastic, very unique, owner was super nice and helpful. Location was great, definitely more like a bnb than a hotel. Rooms were nice. Would definitely book again, just would book the bigger room!
Review 25:200m from Sherbourne metro station, just 30 minutes from downtown, Tony has been very accomodating, easy access to our room which was perfectly clean.
Review 26:Noisy AC!!!! Small shower w/o doors; nicely-looking but not very "usable' furniture; no staff in the reception; TV didn't work; location is OK but not great; did I mention NOISY air conditioner ...
Review 27:Overall, it is a pleasant place, nicely decorated... With inexpensive parking option...
Review 28:It would be better if there was a light on the bedside table. Bit difficult to get an answer right away if something happens. And I heard the noise from tjw ceiling. It seemed like there are rats running. That bothered a bit.
Review 29:Good locaton.close to rhe subway and drugstore ,supermarkwt.very convenient.Staff is not usually there but all necesaary info came by email before arrival so I had no trouble for checking in and out.
Review 30:The apartment was smaller than expected and was different from the one advertised in the website. No staff was around most of the time. The room had a queen size bed with a king size mattress that was too big for it.
Review 31:Self catering facilities and the location
Review 32:The only fault I had was with the WiFi. It was flaky at certain times. Apart from that I simply can't fault it.
Review 33:The room was up to date and modern. The basic kitchen in the room was ample and provided you with all the necessities. If you require to cook a bigger meal downstairs then there were other facilities available. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom and shower where excellent. The shower comes equipped with am overhead option, a normal option, a jet wash option and a cleaner for your feet. Included was also a "singing shower"
Review 34:A nice , clean and lovely old house .Just like our own house . Many new equipment . New kitchen , new television and new toilet .ONLY problem is no door for toilet , but it's okay for me.
Review 35:They need a mirror besides the one they have in the bathroom. There is no housekeeping. The reception hours are a bit odd so you need to let them know when exactly you will be checking in and checking out. We had to wait a while until someone was there to let us in.
Review 36:It is a 1 min walk to the subway and very close to downtown. The place and rooms are very inviting. It is clean and the bed is super comfy. There is a tv, heater, ac, fridge, mini kitchen. Great value for money. I will definatly come back again !
Review 37:The bathroom area does not have a door / screen so could be a problem for some. Also some traffic noise late at night.
Review 38:Location - within the downtown area, apartment facilities
Review 39:No sign outside and nobody answered at the door when we tried to check in at 9 pm (after a 12 hour flight, 4 am in our local time...). Kept us waiting 5-10 minutes until some guests exited the building. Room wasn't ready or given to the wrong persons. Another 10 minute wait. Didn't receive the room corresponding to the pictures when making the booking (was under the impression that rooms and pictures were not only for reference as every room/option on the site in this small apartment hotel has its own pictures). Room wasn't completely finished. E.g. some sockets were just hanging off the wall. Walls are thin so light sleepers should think twice.
Review 40:Nice and probably just recently decorated spacious room with ensuite bathroom. Although a bit off downtown there is a subway station very near (though you'll need to change lines if you're heading downtown). If you don't mind walking it's a ok walk. Wifi worked well. No drop outs. All in all good value.
Review 41:Nothing
Review 42:Friendly staff (Simon). Amazing spacious rooms with comfy bed and great facilities. Really fab additional luxuries like a coffee maker! Great to have an ensuite bathroom too. All at a very reasonable price, and in a nice area, easily accessible to downtown. Would definitely recommend.
Review 43:Very nice place to stay. Excellent staff and comfortable hotel. Interesting design with varied decor all over the place, central location, nice modern rooms. Would recommend to a friend.
Review 44:The location and value for money.
Review 45:Shower was very slippery, no bathroom trash can
Review 46:The place was nice. Very modern and accommodating
Review 47:Everything

Review 49:The later check in
Review 50:Quaint
Review 51:Sometimes there's no any workers..
Review 52:The facilities were quite good. And the metro station was really close
Review 53:Everything you needed for a relaxing break. Well decorated, comfortable bed and within easy reach of the Main streets of Toronto.
Review 54:Shower difficult to figure out
Review 55:Location
Review 56:The owner's wife didn't like our presence.
Review 57:The location. Near to the subway. Easy to buy grocery.
Review 58:little noisy due to thin walls
Review 59:+ great location, next to subway, shops, ect; friendly, helpfull staff; easy checkin

Review 63:The tv doesn't work.
Review 64:Joe and Simon were very nice and helpful.
Review 65:I walked into the room and was blown away. It was better than the hotel I booked downtown the last time I stayed in Toronto.
Review 66:Very friendly staff. New renovated and new modern furnishments. Everything was perfect! Definately I would choose it again in the future!
