Reviews for Volcano Lodge & Springs

Review 1:Bugs, ant mostly everywhere, in the dining room on the table, in the room, in the bathroom. I don't like harsh lighting and all the light bulbs in the room were very white and harsh. Pretend hot springs, not the real deal.

Review 2:Nice grounds and landscaping. bird attractor by dining room Very tasty food for lunch and dinner. Breakfast buffet was iffy.

Review 3:Not a whole lot not to like.

Review 4:Grounds were beautiful, breakfast had lots of selection and was delicious, rooms were very clean and had working ac, WiFi worked well in the rooms, they have a jacuzzi pool heated by the Volcano :)

Review 5:Having to wear a wrist band identifying you as a guest is a bit of a pain.

Review 6:Beautiful gardens including path around resort. Excellent view of volcano. Very nice pool and hot bathes. Great breakfast. Rooms very private. Quiet location. Great value.

Review 7:We all loved it my kids didn't want to leave. Everything was excellent would totally recommend it. So glad I choose this hotel. The view of volcano picture perfect oh and the hot springs just unreal. Perfect location and the staff was very friendly.

Review 8:The rain! probably not the best time of year to visit!

Review 9:Beautifully maintained grounds including the spa that is filled constantly by water heated by the nearby volcano. Very good buffet breakfast included in room rate. Close to town.

Review 10:There were a few little critter in our room (small ants)

Review 11:We stayed two days at the Volcano lodge and springs and enjoyed every bit of it. The springs were great staff was helpful and the 2 for 1 happy hour I was great at then end of adventuring around the Arenal volcano area

Review 12:Great hotel, very relaxing, beautiful garden with a great view of Arenal volcano, the Hot Springs were fantastic, definitely the best part of our stay, we really enjoyed them! Hope to be back to this magic place.

Review 13:Fair warning about the rooms with view of the volcano. Only a few rooms have a view (though their description implies they all have a view), and you have to request in writing in advance. I got a room with volcano view only after making a lot of noise about how misleading their description was and had other choices. They also make you wear a bright colored plastic band (like you do in hospitals) during your entire stay, which I guess many hotels in this area do. I find that appalling for this class of hotel. Hot water never got very hot, never mattered when in the day.

Review 14:Rooms were nice and comfortable. A/C worked well and breakfast were buffet style with lots of choices and fresh fruit. They also fed the birds with fruit during breakfast which was interesting. The hot springs and pool setup was nice, with a great view of Arenal volcano, which was out of the clouds for a few hours during our stay.

Review 15:Variety at breakfast, huge amount of beautiful birds to entertain you at breakfast time, access to the hot springs at almost all hours, bar service, location easy into and out of town if you have a car. WIFI was decent in public areas with no complaints, staff were fantastic and very helpfull and could organise anything you wanted from shuttles to day trips.

Review 16:Although food was delicious, few moderately priced options. Had to drive a few minutes into town for a variety of restaurants.

Review 17:Hot springs portion of pool, beautiful gardens which attracted many birds, friendly staff, large grounds with running trail, delicious food at restaurant.

Review 18:The breakfast quality could be a little bit better (variety was not bad), although even as it was, it was satisfactory.

Review 19:Amazing location! Amazing view of the volcano from the room. It looked like a postcard!! Very nice gardens with lovely hot springs. The stuff was always helpful with anything we needed, painkillers, travel info, restaurant suggestions, etc. Very comfortable and calm but at the same time with many people around so that it doesn't feel lonely. The breakfast had some delicious desserts, although we didn't find them the second morning!!

Review 20:Nothing.

Review 21:Gardens very picturesque. Good views of the volcano. Hot springs lovely during Happy Hour. Breakfast had a good selection of fruits and hot and cold dishes.

Review 22:Our air conditioner quit working so it was very uncomfortable for one night. However, once we called the next morning, someone came immediately and fixed it.

Review 23:The view!!

Review 24:I didn't like that the volcano wasn't visible due to poor weather. But that's not really the resort's fault. Otherwise, everything was excellent.

Review 25:I loved the room, honey moon suite. The service staff were fantastic. The food was delicious and a great value. Get the dinner package for $16. Excellent breakfast buffet. The hot springs were a great relief after a long adventurous day.

Review 26:- needs more maintenance of walkways & facilities - slippery, bug bites - needs more bug spray - rooms need better lighting - better AC would be nice

Review 27:+ Good breakfast + pools, hot springs + friendly staff + good restaurant, tasty food + good connections for activities + excellent location

Review 28:Rooms a little bit outdated

Review 29:Location Garden Breakfast Swimming pool Happy hour Beautiful hotel with great views of the volcano. And you can enjoy the nature just on the grounds of the hotel. We saw humming birds, lizzards a lot of other unknown birds and lot of plants and trees

Review 30:soap, body soap, and shampoo are all from the same container, no clocks in the room, erratic timeliness of hotel shuttle, dim lighting

Review 31:decent hotel, fair price, courteous staff

Review 32:Beautiful landscaping, the hot springs are fantastic. Classy hotel with big rooms.

Review 33:it was a great experience

Review 34:Hot springs were great!! Nice room, and loved the private little patio.

Review 35:Springs-Pool area. Breakfast. Comfortable beds. Large bathing/bathroom area. Volcano views. Privacy. Staff.

Review 36:That my time there was not longer...

Review 37:Thermo pools

Review 38:The location beauty and view of the Arenal volcano are exquisite

Review 39:Hot pools

Review 40:price for a 1970 motel

Review 41:grounds ,restaurant, massage and all staff

Review 42:We loved the entire experience at this hotel, the only negative was the weather, but even in the rain this was a magnificent stay !

Review 43:Rooms need to be updated Need a car

Review 44:Pool Hot springs Breakfast

Review 45:Food was terrible! Breakfast was not replenished the 1 morning we got there a little late (8:30am) We did not stay there for dinner based on the mediocrity of the breakfast & lunch.

Review 46:Amount of space on the property was plentiful. Pools, jacuzzis, and gardens were lovely.

Review 47:Restaurant staff were not accommodating. If I tried to sit at the wrong table for breakfast, I was told to move. If I wanted fresca rather than coke for the happy hour drinks, no go...They were following rules, not logical requests... an average hotel with a fair price.

Review 48:The property was really well maintained with plants and flowers. There were multiple pool areas that were well spaced throughout the resort. Hot springs were open 24/7..that was nice. There were grocery stores just down the road and the town of Fortuna was great. Nice restaurants. View was great when the clouds moved a bit to show the volcano.

Review 49:Great value - great staff!! Food was delicious, we ate there everyday for breakfast & dinner. Pools were small, but well maintained and just right for us- never too busy!

Review 50:This Lodge is understandably geared for the American market (even groups of youngsters) so can be quite loud, and same Americanised breakfast each day.

Review 51:It was very nicely laid out complete with hot springs, swimming pool and jacuzzi. The staff were excellent, particularly the people working in reception and the dining room. Very friendly and helpful and very appreciative of our stumbling efforts at Spanish.

Review 52:Absolutely nothing!!

Review 53:Where to begin?? The staff at this resort is top notch. Alberto, Daniela, Flor, and Itzel made our stay a memorable one to say the least. All four were there to help us decide which tours to do and what actives we should seek out. All four of them spoke great english which was nice because my wife and I do not speak any Spanish. Alberto exceed the expectations of any resort staff by even booking our next destination resort in Manuel Antonio. Thanks again you guys! The room was awesome as well. Clean and updated with awesome new towel designs each days. All in all, its EXACTLY what we had hoped for. If I am ever lucky enough to return to the area, I will look no farther than Volcano Lodge and Springs!!

Review 54:Room's furniture is not super-new, but still comfortable

Review 55:Very attentive and helpful staff // Excellent location, outside of La Fortuna and on the way to the national park // Great volcano views from our room / open veranda // Lush, manicured garden throughout the resort // 2 regular pools, 1 thermal jacuzzi, 1 thermal pool // Delicious food served all day in the restaurant on grounds

Review 56:The room was clean and comfortable. The hot springs were very relaxing. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the menu changed every day. The views of the volcano from our room was fantastic! Well exceeded our expectations!!!

Review 57:We don't have a single complaint.

Review 58:It is stunningly beautiful. The food was our favorite among the three hotels and many restaurants we ate at across Costa Rica. The view of the Volcano from our bed was just fantastic!

Review 59:The restaurant was very expensive! No children perks. Hotel is quite spread out so it takes a while to get to reception if you are in certain rooms. Dogs were barking all night and we could hear donkeys and cows occasionnaly (we were in room 225).

Review 60:The pools and playground are good enough for the money... Nice ceviches at the restaurant. Very close to the Arenal natural refuge (300 m).

Review 61:We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Clean and comfortable. Lovely tropical grounds with a view of the volcano from our private little veranda. Nice breakfast buffet and we enjoyed some delicious meals in the dining room as well. The hot spring pools were delightful after hiking. Staff friendly and helpful.

Review 62:Liked it all!

Review 63:Beautiful grounds. Fun hot springs. Nice rooms. Friendly staff.

Review 64:Didn't like the choice of deserts pool and hot tubs closed too early

Review 65:Breakfast was good great view of volcano

Review 66:The location was convenient and had lovely views

Review 67:Great hotel with great facilities, breakfast and views of the volcano

Review 68:poor wifi

Review 69:everything

Review 70:One of two rooms had a musty odour.

Review 71:Location, grounds were great, included an excellent breakfast, friendly staff.
