Reviews for Toronto Central Hotel
Review 1:All was good
Review 2:Every things was perfect the location amazing and the staff they are so nice sure if am again in Toronto I will stay there again and the price so perfect
Review 3:1. They gave us a room on the 2nd floor despite knowing we had an infant with us and would have to carry a lot of extra stuff with us up and down all day. 2. Had people smoking outside the main entrance a lot of the time 3. Rooms were not sound proof. You can hear people talking in the corridors and from the adjacent rooms 4. No window in the bedroom 5. Toilet was not heated at all. The room heating took too long to heat up the room 6. Internet was non-functional/disabled/turned off for the most part 7. No kitchen or laundry services in the hotel
Review 4:1. Staff was friendly and helpful 2. Room service was good
Review 5:The hallways smells like cigarettes and marijuana. Learned from locals that the place has a reputation as being a bit of a drug den.
Review 6:Location was great. Bed seemed clean.
Review 7:THERE WAS BED BUGS THAT BIT ME AND INSTEAD OF TREATING ME LIKE A GOOD CUSTOMER THEY MADE ME PAY MORE FOR A ROOM WITHOUT BED BUGS. THE STAFF IS INCOMPETENT. IT SMELLS LIKE CIGARETTE BUDS IN THE STAIRCASE/LOBBY AND THE PLACE LOOKS EXTREMELY RUN DOWN. MY WINDOWS WERE BOARDED UP WITH WOOD AND THERE WAS NO WORKING LIGHT IN THE WASHROOM, THERE WAS JUSTA TALL LAMP THAT WAS CONNECTED VIA EXTENSION CORD FROM THE ROOM. EVERY SINGLE TOWL WAS DIRTY SO DIDNT SHOWER. (I PROBABLY STAYED MORE CLEAN DOING THAT)
Review 8:nothing
Review 9:It would be nice if the hotel had an elevator.
Review 10:I loved the location. The hotel is conveniently located near the main attractions and the coach terminal. The staff was helpful.
Review 11:Everything smelled like cigarette smoke [despite the no-smoking signs] Shower did not go past lukewarm Wifi was unreliable at best
Review 12:Location is good Cleaners seemed to do the best they can with what they had
Review 13:Didn't realize was not yet paid for, thought it was booked when I gave my M/C. Had to read fine print to understand that it was not booked.
Review 14:Clean
Review 15:Nothing to complain!
Review 16:Staff are very friend and helpful! Room is small, but comfortable. Location is great, close to the shops, cafeterias, restaurants and Dundas subway station. It's possible to go on foot to the main atractions in Toronto, like the Harbour to take a ferry to Toronto Island, Toronto Aquarium and CN Tower.
Review 17:I hated the property and in actual fact, I was disgusted with the state of the property and its location that I ended up not staying at all and having my money porfeited! The advertised pictures were definitely not what the hotel is like.
Review 18:The shower. You can hear everything happening in the hotel with regards to movement. Wifi was bad. Not a lot of t.v channels. Having to check out by 11am.
Review 19:Staff was friendly. It was clean. New towels brought at reasonsable time. Bed was comfy.
Review 20:The shared bathroom is inacceptable, and does not conform to Western cleanness standards, needs fundamental renovations and cleaning. The room with bathromm was simple, but ok for this price.
Review 21:Personal is friendly
Review 22:Doesn't work cable TV. Very Slow WI-FI. Doesn't work Heater ! Very Cold room. Shower is so Cold water. I Cant Stand this room .never Stay.
Review 23:Location
Review 24:Thin walls between rooms, quite a lot of nightly disturbances due to guests coming in late (being out partiying) but naturally that will vary according to the type of guests..
Review 25:Drafty window, let in a bit of the cold and road noise. Heat on 3rd floor was much less than lobby on 1st floor. I didnt find any in-room heat controls either.
Review 26:Great location, like 40 seconds walk from Yonge & Dundas Square. Suite finishing wasn't bad. I expected worse, and was pleasantly surprised.
Review 27:Th bulging was gross and it smelled and the only people saying there , we're they to have sex. And to top it off they had bed bugs . Don't stay here !
Review 28:The location it was walking distance to the eaton center mall
Review 29:Smell ,dirty , terrible
Review 30:Very bad, and it is very different from the picture on the website~ the air is not fresh and when you smell , you would feel headache . Don't book this hotel~ trust me , very terrible
Review 31:The bed had bedbugs and they bite me. The room was not so clean, too. I really wouldn't recommend to stay in this hotel.
Review 32:I didn't like anything in this hotel.
Review 33:Can't complain about anything for the price!
Review 34:The staff was very tolerant and provided a good service. The place was in much better condition than previous comments suggested. There must have been renovations.
Review 35:its a run down hotel, its what you pay for, if you need a place to crash and just don't care, because your there to see the maple leafs or blue jays, its a perfect hotel,
Review 36:Its close to everything downtown , cheap prices
Review 37:At the very worst, the hotel's presentation was a bit rough around the edges, but the comfort, security and cleanliness more than makes up for it.
Review 38:First impressions weren't great...outside and reception was a bit dingy. But the room was comfortable, clean, had excellent air conditioning and wifi. Bathroom was also very clean, bedroom sheets were changed every day and large flat-screen TV with about 25 channels was in the room. Doesn't have the bells and whistles that a more upmarket hotel would have, but definitely would stay there again.
Review 39:For the money its a great deal I would stay there again would have been nice to have a coffee pot in a little fridge in the rooms but for the money you can't complain
Review 40:The hotel is old and a bit out dated but the room's where very clean and the staff was very nice about parking accommodations the front desk even took care of my parking ticket at 6 in the morning its a great deal for the money I would stay there again
Review 41:Don't get fooled by the photo. My and my friend originally bookedfor 2 night but we couldn't take it and book another hotel thelast minute and checked out after staying there for 1 night. If weweren't arrived very late of the night we would not even staythere at all.
Review 42:Furniture is somehow outdated but the bed is comfortable. On few occasions some guests don't abide by the no smoking policy inside the hotel
Review 43:Singh Singh Singh... He is everywhere doing and handling everything in the hotel. He made our stay more comfortable. Excellent location
Review 44:I found the floors to be unswept, and there was some woman's long hair in the bathroom, on the towels and on the bed. However, after cleaning it / wiping it up myself, the room was then acceptable for the money. As they say, you get what you pay for. I didn't complain as mentioned above it was easier/faster for me to clean it myself. At least it was clean to my standards that way.
Review 45:While every other room in the city was booked (because of the TIFF 2015), this property still had vacancies. I enjoyed the location, the reasonable price and the actual room (yes it was small, but at least I had my own bathroom). Laminate wood floors, tile bathroom and a marble countertop. Wasn't as bad as I expected. There was no bugs and no mold which was nice. The bed was comfortable and included a clean duvet. Towels for the room were also clean. Shower had good flow and hot water. Free Wifi except I never used it.
Review 46:The hotel is in very poor condition. The shower walls had mold on them and the ceiling had dead bugs. I asked housekeeping to clean it up, but when I returned to the room, all was still the same. I fear they don't wash the bed linen. I developed rashes that I didn't get until sleeping in the bed.
Review 47:The location.
Review 48:Windows and walls were paper thin, you could hear and feel everything in and out of the building. WiFi was weak and not secured. The whole building reeked of cigarettes.
Review 49:BEDBUG!!! BEDBUG!!!! BEDBUG!!!! I just slept 3 hours and then wake up because of the itchiness!!!!! I have lots of bedbug bites all over my body including face!!! I saw at least four bedbugs on the bed, and two bedbugs in the toilet! The hotel just return us 50% of the rent!!! And I have to go to hospital because the bites became severe!!!! It't the worst hotel I've EVER LIVED!
Review 50:NOTHING!
Review 51:The room was dirty, a window was replaced by a wooden board to fit the airco. I wonder if the hotel passed the safety checks, everything was loose or missing. The bathroom was dirty and outdated. The street is too busy to have a nice rest. There is a tram, busy traffic, lots of people till late in the night. I felt very unsafe in the room as well on the street. Looks like a lot of addicts and homeless people in front of the property. Parking is in a public lot for about $20 a day. When we arrived there was nobody at the desk. We survived, and reccomend for your safety not to take this place.
Review 52:The hotel was close to downtown, but still in a very bad neighbourhood. Wifi was fine.
Review 53:Location is on the border of a rough neighborhood that feels unsafe. Walls are paper thin and street noise enters room very easily.
Review 54:Location is right by the Eaton Centre.
Review 55:I travel a lot and I always stay in cheap hostel/hotel. But this hotel was the worst! The hotel stinks cigarettes, I tried to change the room but I think all rooms are stinky. There is a central air conditioning and I think the smell comes from this air conditioning and you can´t open the window. Terrible experience.
Review 56:Good wifi. Excellent location.
Review 57:They should have provided a Tea or coffee maker which was missing in the room
Review 58:The reception facility was available round the clock. The people were very freindly and cooperative.
Review 59:The room itself was very clean and the staff was friendly. However, the security of the room (locks etc) was very poor and the stairwells and hallways were dirty. The location was convenient but the building needs better security especially the doors to the actual rooms.
Review 60:Dreadfully renovated and not very great value for money. Advertised and pictures show queen bed but actually a single.
Review 61:Very clean excellent taxi service to the airport organised. Great location
Review 62:This hotel welcomes any sort of guest, causing noise and comfort problems for other guest. The shared bathroom was unclean, the back door was open at all times leading onto several building rooftops and allowing access into the hotel from anyone. Weak door locks, poorly sound insulated, an overall smell in the building.
Review 63:Very good location Very good quality for the price This hotel has a certain hostel vibe and it's as cheap as an hostel, but you get your own room and bathroom.
Review 64:What I liked about this hotel was its excellent location and friendly staff. It was cleaner than what I expected for a cheap hotel like this, and the WiFi worked well.
Review 65:The hotel was run down, dirty, uncomfortable and scary. I was approached numerous times asking which room and my price. The bathroom was the worst and very dirty. The smell in the hallway was constantly there and most likely coming from the very old carpet.
Review 66:The bathroom wasn't clean, the shower and toilet had black traces. The Wifi wasn't working most of the time. The lights were "home-fixed"
Review 67:Really bad treatment while in the Hotel. Everything worked in the room, but the place was just smoke. Full of signs of "do not smoke" but the air is almost unbreatheable and all my clothes are smelling cigarretes. Try another place.
Review 68:At least is close to the center, though you can go anywhere fast with the subway (metro).
Review 69:* A homeless was let in the hotel and was by our room even though the floor was supposed to be locked. There was puke on the floor and was not clean over the 3 days of our stay. The wifi does not work and staff is far from being helpful, could barely recommend us a parking for the car around.
Review 70:Very basic yet cheap and central, friendly helpful staff. Could do with a but of decor but that might push prices up, so didn't mind as we only came in to sleep :)
Review 71:Was smoky smelling for the first few nights as it would appear that the people next to us were smoking in their room. Would have been ok if you could open the windows for fresh air but there are no opening windows, just solid glass.
Review 72:Comfortable and clean room with nice staff. Fantastic location as is just a walk away from main shops and attractions!
Review 73:Did not offer us the wifi code, and there were locked doors separating each level. While that may not be a problem in itself the stairwell was extremely narrow which made trying to open the door with bags difficult and moving through with opposite traffic was impossible and awkward. The bathroom was in poor shape, the faucet was rusty and the water coming out was foul smelling.
Review 74:There were lots of parking lots available right beside the hotel and right across the street. The proximity to the Eaton Centre was good as well.
Review 75:The whole place needs a complete make over, it's all very shabby and run down. There was quite a lot of noise in the room coming from outside on the street and when I eventually battled with the blind to look at the window I realised why, out window had a chipboard instead of glass and silver duct tape holding the corners of the glass window in! It seriously needs freshening up and new facilities, the air conditioning was pretty much non existent. A huge TV in the room which I would have gladly sacrificed and put the money into refurbishing the room!
Review 76:The location was good and was booked very last minute!
Review 77:The bed bugs, the lack of locks on the door entering your room and the lack of English spoken by staff.
Review 78:This was a terrible place infested with bed bugs I didn't like anything.
Review 79:Parking was more expensive than the $14 the advertisement suggested. In reality it was $12 for 6am-8pm, and $5 for 8pm-6am. So we ended up paying $22 for 24 hours. You also cannot pay ahead of time so we had to go back and pay at 8pm and 6am, which was a pain. The place also looks very run down. There was only one set of plugs in the room, which were already being used by the tv and air conditioner. There was also lots of banging noises while we were sleeping, like someone was renovating at midnight.
Review 80:The location was great for walking. The room was also clean. However, the cons would make me want to stay at another place with parking and take transit instead.
Review 81:Bad smell, bad decoration, bad facilities. Cold air was being thrown into the room and I had no choice to stop it. In general, it was not worth the price I paid, please avoid this hotel (and I am not particularly picky).
Review 82:Wifi worked fine and the bed was comfortable enough.
Review 83:It feels like the type of hotel where you might see chalk outlines and yellow police tape in the hallway.
Review 84:It's downtown Toronto, so that puts you close to everything.
Review 85:One of the staff members was increbly rude. We requested him to turn on the airconditioner for our room and he said 'yeah'. After 30 mins, my brother went downstairs at midnight and the guy at reception very rudely said 'it takes time'. Our room was really hot and suffocating, I went downstairs at 30 past midnight very angrily. They then turned the airconditioner on immediately. The staff even told me that they know they have bad reviews but the owners don't care. The sheets had stains, the entire buidling smelt of smoke, even our sheets. I have stayed in a 1 star hotel before and a hostel in the past. This was worse than the hostel hence, the 1 star rating is misleading. Pay $30 more Canadian dollars and get a pleasant sleep in another part of the city centre please!
Review 86:The location was alright in regards to the distance from the hotel to the centre (Dundas). However, it was a shabby street. You will hear people fight, drink and abuse loudly on the streets and the sound reaches your room after midnight until about 2am. We even heard something hit the window (one you cannot open so quite a suffocating experience) loudly.
Review 87:bathroom fan did not work, AC sitting in window and is open to the outside which lets in street noise I think a piece of trim would fix that by 50%.
Review 88:Location is great, & no smoking in area I was in. Last minute booking former hostel co-ed now shared washroom are not for everyone.
Review 89:The bathroom was not clean at all and the man at the reception wasn't helpful. in general the place is not a clean place and I found it very unpleasant. I checked out the next day!
Review 90:Nothing
Review 91:There are several things I could point out as needing improvement in this hotel. However, to do so would be unfair since I got exactly what I paid for.
Review 92:It's located in the middle of downtown Toronto. The internet was surprisingly good. They kept the room clean.
Review 93:Was a non smoking Hotel, but upon entering the lobby you could smell stale Cigarettes and other smells. Was very dirty and needs many many upgrades. If the city was not booked up we would have changed hotels. Not worth the money we spent to stay here. Health and Safety inspectors should be called to investigate
Review 94:Nothing, pictures were very deceiving. Place needs a Major Overhaul or condemed
Review 95:Room size. No free wifi (even though it said there was). It said we could check in at any time... Got there at 11:30 and he made us wait til 2.
Review 96:Nothing.
Review 97:I was so disappointed the fact that, the hotel does'nt look whats the pictures says. I paid more than $100 and I was'nt able to stay the whole night to sleep. Carpeted floors but were not able to maintain, non-smoking hotel but smells weed all over the hotel and the hallway. Wifi is super slow, were not able to use. Water does'nt seems to be really clean as there is an after smell and taste.
Review 98:I took this hotel because of the location as the Pride parade is so close to the hotel.
Review 99:The staff dodnt care about their guests. It was anasty whole in the wall hotel in a dorty area. Also theyre were bed bugs and when I tried explaining that to the staff he shrugged it off like he didnt care. I now will only stay at well known hotels this was a very bad expierence.
Review 100:It looked very clean
Review 101:– staff was not polite – this place was dusty, after one night we started to cough – room was dark, you couldn't see anything through the window
Review 102:It's near Centrum of Toronto, but neighbourhood is not quite safe. We saw stealing in Starbucks nearby.
Review 103:Great central location. Don't expect luxury for this kind of price. It's old and not well-maintained. Didn't have any particular bad experiences. Bring your own bathroom supplies (shampoo, soap, toothbrush, etc.). Towels and linens were fine. Decent place to crash if your a solo male looking to go partying in Toronto for a couple days would be my opinion.
Review 104:* The centralized air conditioning system, which can't be turned off or tuned, was terrible. In my room, it generated a permanent stream of cool air directed at the bed, so adding it to generally cold and wet weather at that moment, I got a running nose after the first night. I had to block it with a paper sheet put behind the air grid. * The hotel is obviously old and worn. However, there were no peeling layers of paint on the wall or anything like that, and it was clean.
Review 105:WiFi works. Well, mostly. Nothing more to mention specifically.
Review 106:I always got rooms on the third floor. Because I'm a smoker, I wouldhave to go down the stairs to smoke. They have smoking rooms butdon't smoke inside.
Review 107:I booked here the first time for $45 after midnight when I needed aplace to go. From first site, given the fact its an older building andmaybe the area, I wasn't so sure of my choice. But once inside wow Iwas surprised. Nice clean room and sheets. It was easy to book without acredit card with no hassles...I Also want to say the staff there areawesome. Take a minute to say Hi. I've returned here for a fewnights. Its not a 5 star kinda place but for what you get compared towhat you pay...can't be beat.
Review 108:Almost everything! It's such a shame that "Toronto Central Hotel" is actually this miserable place. It was tight, dirty, noisy, super low class and worse than any lodge or motel we've experienced yet anywhere in the world!
Review 109:Well, it was close to Downtown and the bus station.
Review 110:No breakfast service. The hotel does not provide breakfast. It was only room that's it. I never tried the room service. I'm not sure if they have it.
Review 111:Lots of room to walk around when we entered the room, even the washroom is bigger than the last time we were there. The tv is sharp I can see people clearly.
Review 112:i would not recommend it for families or specifically female solo travelers. no phone in the room. sketchy people who did not appear to be hotel guests came and went from the lobby in the wee hours. at no point was the hot water anything other than tepid. while the entire building was clearly advertised and excessively displayed as non-smoking, the lobby and the hallways reeked of weed.
Review 113:i liked the old architecture of the building. the room was well appointed and included a very large window with an interesting view. often one cannot have a room with a private bathroom for the price. the staff were courteous, helpful and mostly easy to locate. wifi worked well. while i was out my room was tidied, sheets changed, towels/soap/cups replaced. none of my personal effects were disturbed. there were a number of xlnt food choices nearby and a 24 hour market with reasonably good food and drink, selection/sundries, and reasonable prices. very good service.
Review 114:the locks on the doors didn't seem to be very secure, but we didn't have any problems with that
Review 115:The location was amazing. Very close to Dundas-Yonge square and everything else you need. There is also a subway and trolley stop very close to the hotel. The staff members were really nice, carrying our suitcases to our room and then storing them for us on our last day after the check-out. The wi-fi worked well too. We did not have any problems with anything. The room has everything you need. It is nothing special, but if you go to Toronto, you won't be spending much time in your room anyway. The bed was clean and very comfy. There are many places where you can buy food or get drinks close to the hotel too!
Review 116:Very slow wifi and dirty bathroom. Smelly inside apartment building where I stayed at.you should insert a card system to fey into the building and into bedroom for safety reasons than using key. Fix the kitchen to be clean out fridge to store food and microwave.
Review 117:Great location to downtown to everything to walk to!
Review 118:The 1st time I was there the bed was better from the 3rd floor. The 3rd floor room is smaller & the tv is bad for my eyes due to I see mostly darkly. I can't see the people's face.
Review 119:The room is clean. That's it.
Review 120:The room was clean, well kept, well organized and perfect for my needs. In 30 minutes you can walk to most of downtown toronto which is absolutely fantastic!
Review 121:The place is small and cheap but you still have privacy and is great.
Review 122:The location is awesome so you are close to everything, you are walking distance to whatever place you want to go.
Review 123:in a sketchy neighborhood. run-down building, interior & exterior. stayed in a non-smoking floor, but the hallway smelled of smoke, inspite of the signs. on checking-out, told the staff about it. he denied it. no elevators. no ventilation in the room. decided to leave this hotel after a horrible one night. luckily, i found a much better facility 2 blocks away.
Review 124:bed was comfortable. refunded me for those unused days.
Review 125:Everything is acceptable, but biting bedbugs is the major problem of this hotel...
Review 126:Very good location to visit Toronto Downtown, just few steps to subway.
Review 127:It's a very low budget place (I loved how the room numbers were written in marker). If your looking for an aesthetically pleasing experience, this is not the place for you. It's also the kinda place where you're sure to keep your door locked at all times. But I never had any real problems, so these are really just cosmetic concerns. If you're on a budget, the place is fine.
Review 128:The staff were nice and accommodating. The location is very good. It's a good place for a nice laid back stay, not surrounded by hundred of people, which is exactly what I needed.
Review 129:very noise with people entering in and out the entire night, people at the entrance smoking weed. I did not feel safe and did not even feel safe leaving my bags the following day after the check-out to go shopping.
Review 130:The entire place smells like cigarette smoke and weed. The entrance/hallways/stairwell are not clean at all.. but at least the room was!! The windows in the room don't open and are a bit stuffy, but we asked for a fan and they brought us it.. still was stinking after the airfresherner wore out.
Review 131:The room we were in was clean and spacious.
Review 132:No alarm clock, very old tv with limited cable channels and poor picture. Very small room, but adequate for a short stay. No elevator and old locks on the doors.
Review 133:very low cost for a sleepover in downtown Toronto...a 5 minute walk to the subway system...close to Yonge street shopping and bistros.
Review 134:The hotel smells of marijuana at times. Wifi was intermittent. Rooms weren't properly maintained. All furniture was dated and falling apart. Sink coming away from wall, scum in the shower.
Review 135:5 minutes walk from Dundas/Yonge. Great price. Staff quiet, but friendly.
