Reviews for The Springs Resort & Spa at Arenal
Review 1:Beautiful resort! The hot spring variety and quantity was truly magnificent. From the moment we walked in, we were cared for professionally and cheerfully. This was our first overnight away from our normal oceanfront resort. We now plan to return to the Springs Resort for several days at a time during our annual trip.
Review 2:The road is awful. The food is average at best serviced cool not hot The restaurant staff is slow and lazy in the less formal dining room. Staff good in formal dining
Review 3:The hot springs- especially Perdido Springs and the ones by the river. The feeling of being away from it all in the beautiful rainforest with 5 star amenities and service.
Review 4:The food and drinks at the hotel were pretty pricey. They were good and the staff serving them were unbelievable however a bit overpriced ($10 cocktail, $5 beer, $20-40 for meals).
Review 5:The staff and facility were incredible! The pools are amazing, cannot say enough good things about this hotel.
Review 6:We booked a 'feed the cats' tour, to feed some of the big rescue cats being rehabilitated at the club. It was a little misleading as you only get to watch the cats being fed, you don't get to 'feed' them. It would have been fine if I hadn't already done the tour of the animals. No big deal, I still love the place.
Review 7:The staff, the property, the vibe, everything was blissful. I awoke to the roar of the howler monkeys and the view of the smoking Arenal Volcano two days in a row, it really should have been longer....next time!!
Review 8:Food could be better. Getting into town and other food options is not easy due to rickety road from hotel to the main road.
Review 9:Fabulous amenities (views, pools, Rio Club) and rooms were beautiful. Overall a great and relaxing stay. Great service with a few small things that could be improved.
Review 10:The convenience store should be open 24 hrs and be better stocked.
Review 11:The resort has amazing sites, with so many hot springs. The staff was very hospitable and well organized. Every request was possible.
Review 12:Wifi was a little spotty. Concierge-offered tours were offered at a high mark-up. I found it easy to book myself with tour operators in the area.
Review 13:The rooms were amply large, the service everywhere was terrific, and the staff could not do enough to help us enjoy our stay. The staff is incredible -- friendly, knowledgeable, and excited to teach us about their country and the area. Their English skills are incredible. The facilities are also fantastic. With the frequent rains, the thermal pools were great. They were rarely felt crowded.
Review 14:Bars opening late by the pool and buffet. Suggesting serving bloody Mary's mimosas and beer early and or select menu.
Review 15:Unreal experience most like a fantasy world. I will be back.
Review 16:The food is alright and the options were a bit lacking, in my opinion. We were expecting a bit more innovative dishes but the items were all fairly standard, but my husband amd I are both foodies.
Review 17:The location and grounds are spectacular. You truly feeling like you are in a magical oasis right in the jungle. The hot springs are just amazing.
Review 18:Stunning views of Arenal Volcano. 26 hot spring pools. Tons of organized group or private adventure activities. Huge, modern room with great views. Everything you're looking for in a resort at the Arenal Volcano.
Review 19:Just a thought: How about a zip line from the hotel down to Club Rio and a sky tram back up?
Review 20:Beautifully appointed spacious rooms with a view; superb staff; excellent meals; hot springs all to ourselves throughout our stay; surprisingly complete fitness room; wonderful spa and massage; activities on-site at Club Rio make it like no other resort in the area.
Review 21:The breakfast was not as good as the rest of the place but dinner was good
Review 22:The place is set up well hot springs were great the views were awesome the rooms were amazing and the zoo on premises was a good unexpected surprise
Review 23:No dislikes
Review 24:Pablo was a great tour guide. Gerald was a great help and spent time with us making sure we were catching fish. Dixon couldn't have been nicer. We also really enjoyed Jose Antonio. They all were exceptional employees, teaching us Spanish and all being so sweet. The employees made our trip most memorable.
Review 25:Great view Gorgeous resort Awesome rooms The hot springs are great Food and drinks were delicious Everyone was very friendly Loved the animal preserve and tour Not crowded Very relaxing
Review 26:Having to leave.
Review 27:The resort was awesome. It was absolutely gorgeous The staff was very courteous and helpful. The food was great and the kayaking and horse back riding were a lot of fun. Definitely will go back!
Review 28:So expensive.... On top of paying almost $500 a night we were charged an extra $90 per night for our second child. The food and drinks are also super expensive but it will cost you $20 each way ($40 round trip) to leave and go into town for other good options. Also, the volcanic water in some of the springs is really smelly. It has a strong sulfar odor. The springs is fine for 1 night or so, but we stayed for 5 and it was too long. Save your money and go to Tulemar in Manuel Antonio. That is where we spent the 2nd half of our trip and it was wonderful.
Review 29:The grounds are beautiful and the staff was very nice, especially Andre in the game room.
Review 30:Lots of stairs
Review 31:Beautiful grounds, friendly staff, excellent facilities.
Review 32:The courtesy and friendliness of the staff was amazing. The facilities and surrounding country were spectacular.
Review 33:The scenery and location were fabulous. The staff were very friendly and helpful giving excellent customer service.
Review 34:I have no complaints. It's an amazing resort with an excellent staff.
Review 35:That it wasn't packed with people. It was very relaxing.
Review 36:all was perfect, can't be better!!!
Review 37:Roadway into property is challenging.
Review 38:Incredible friendly and personable staff, great warm spring pools and beautiful views everywhere.
Review 39:Very enjoy Team on this resort hotel really... Very good experience!
Review 40:did feel at times as if I was on a movie set
Review 41:view of volcano and surrounding area...
Review 42:The drive there.
Review 43:We loved the hot springs, our room, the food was great, and the view of the volcano!
Review 44:staff is very helpful and freindly. hot springs are fantastic
Review 45:Service is excellent! Resort is breathtaking!
Review 46:Steps from rooms to pool and next level. Should have an elevator all the way down. Need light at pool stairs below water. Hard to see and stubbed toe a lot getting out.
Review 47:Rooms were great. Staff was great. Sushi was very good. ATV riding at hotel was fabulous. Muddy and wet!!!
Review 48:It is also helpful to know that the hotel is located on a private road about 2+ miles from the main road that connects to the nearby town. This is good for the privacy and beautiful location of the hotel, but not good if you want to go to town (La Fortuna) without a rental car. If you elect not to rent a car (as we did) be aware that you will require cab fare if you want to go to town which will be around $30+/- USD for a round trip. Taxis are easy to get from the hotel.
Review 49:The staff and facilities were top notch. We interacted with almost a dozen staff at the hotel restaurants, reception, concierge, etc. and everyone was friendly, pleasant and provided excellent service. I have stayed in many hotels while traveling on business and the service provided here (on vacation) was the best. All of the customer speaking staff speaks english well as this hotel seems to cater to American (english speaking) tourists. The property also has beautiful views, great springs, and a good number of birds (for bird enthusiasts).
Review 50:- Food is not as exceptional as the hotel. Breakfast is good but every other meal is no more than average. - adding more fun slides would be great, only one is available now.
Review 51:-The hot springs pools -5 stars Luxury in the middle of the jungle, amazing rooms! - big property which makes it easy for every guest to enjoy privacy -good English speaking staff -Club Rio for activities within the property
Review 52:The hotel is off of Road 142, the hotel gives latitude and longitude as an address . If one is driving, find it on Google earth and get an idea of its location before you leave, or rent a navigation computer. The turn off 142 is marked but the little sign could be easily missed.
Review 53:The resort contains fantastic geothermal pools as well as multilevel swimming pools. The rooms are exceptionally located with spectacular views of the Arenal volcano. I cannot speak more highly of my resort experience.
Review 54:A lot of stairs for elderly and people with joint problems. They do have golf carts for those who need them.
Review 55:Fabulous property & staff. Beautiful setting overlooking Arenal Volcano. Great thermal pools. Loved the onsite nature reserve.
Review 56:The food at the formal dining room was unfortunatly not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. The sushi was VERY expensive.
Review 57:Great Bloody Marys in the bar. Great room and bed Nice warm pools The service of all staff from arrival to end of visit!
Review 58:The value for the vegetarian dinner. It was so delicious and of highestquality but for $23 including tip and tax I shouldn't wake up atmidnight with hunger pains. I guess I needed to buy more food.
Review 59:Beautiful lodging with 18 pools of various temperatures including asmall infinity pool. Rooms are super quiet with gorgeous view ofvolcano. Incredibly romantic setting along with exciting sportsfacility, that includes tubing and horseback riding among manyother choices.
Review 60:Super nice and helpful staff. Great english all around. If you'relooking for luxury in Costa Rica, this is it. The owner loves thecountry, the wildlife and the local people, so you can truly feel hispassion and care in building this incredible place. I can't stopcoming back, this is my favorite hotel in the world!!
Review 61:Didn't like that the prices listed on the menus do not include taxes.
Review 62:Everything, from the service to the room, to the food, everything was extraordinary.
Review 63:The property is beautiful, but requires walking up many steps, is spreadaround a hill.
Review 64:Great view of the volcano from every room, the natural hot springspools are wonderful. Great breakfast buffet at reasonable prices( $15per person). The property has a wild life rescue, with monkey, catsand toucans.
Review 65:Couldn't stay long enough and the road into the hotel was bumpy but other than that it was perfect.
Review 66:the staff was excellent and very accomodating. The hotel was beautiful and we had a GREAT time there. I would recommend it highly.
Review 67:Nothing
Review 68:The robes, the waterslide, the wildlife area, swim up bar and all of the hot pools
Review 69:The bed was a rock. Somewhat ruined our stay but we were only there for 3 days / 2 nights.
Review 70:The grounds of the resort and springs were amazing.
Review 71:Very expensive
