Reviews for Hotel Engel

Review 1:However, be careful if you go for the apartments. They are not part of the hotel building and, in fact, 100m up the road. These apartments are in a residential block with other local residents. They don't have wi-fi (we had to sit in reception to connect) and are average when compared with the photos of the rooms. The beds were very hard and gave me back-ache. So, overall, I probably wouldn't want to stay in the apartments again. I'm sure the hotel rooms are more comfortable.

Review 2:The location of the hotel, the staff, location, etc are excellent. If you're staying in the hotel, I'm sure it's fine. Wi-fi is free. The apartments are centrally located and within walking distance to all amenities and secure parking is available for those staying in them.

Review 3:No AC

Review 4:Location and staff

Review 5:Fabulous breakfast on beautiful patio. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Review 6:Nothing

Review 7:Proximity to the lake and staff helpful. Also small private beach.

Review 8:Delicious breakfast - with a stunning view.

Review 9:Parking could be better, although we lucked out getting a spot.

Review 10:Wonderful breakfast and courteous staff.

Review 11:Breakfast selection was OK but could do with a bit more variety.

Review 12:Friendly staff, Comfortable room, very good restaurant and a good location.

Review 13:The room was in a different building, which was not indicated on the web site. Also, during the stay it was not cleaned at all (I didn't ask it either, but I didn't think I should've).

Review 14:Location is great, by the lake and quite close to the main city. It's really quiet (except for the damn church bell at 6am) and a fabulous view on the lake. There are shops, restaurants and the promenade, all within a minute's walk. Parking is also easy and free. Breakfast is good and the lady at the reception was really nice. Hope to return next year.

Review 15:This is not a hotel issue, but there is a local church in Langenargen with a clock, which although does not chime after 10:00pm does start again at 06:00am followed shortly by a 7 minute crescendo of bells.

Review 16:Food, Location, apartment, relaxing surroundings. Major town of Friedrichshafen is easily accessible. Although you need to be confident in communicating in German, the staff and Locals are very helpful.

Review 17:It's a bit pricey, but still a better value than other hotels verynearby. The rooms feel a bit dated.

Review 18:Hotel Engel has a great location overlooking Bodensee. Though we did nothave a room facing the lake, we made good use of the restaurant terraceand the guest balcony on the 2nd floor. The staff was very hospitableand friendly. The breakfast on offer is a good typical German breakfastwith fresh bread and rolls from a local baker. The sauna and spafacilities are quite nice for a hotel and definitely worth a visit whenthe weather is not great.

Review 19:Having booked a lakeside room in January, arrived to find there was not one available. Offered room overlooking street which was noisy in the evening, also complimentary apperitiff as compensation, most disappointed. Booked table for dinner for 8 pm, arrived to find no table free, no sign of any organisation for booked tables.

Review 20:Lovely views from dining terrace.

Review 21:Difficult parking in the city, hotel provides private parking but for extra fee. Also WiFi connection with extra fee. Majority of hotel and city visitors in retirement age (which can bez also positive as it means very quiet place)

Review 22:Hotel directly at the Lake. Thé city itselfs is very calm and not crowded. Excellent breakfest with very wide variety of food. Friendly staff and clean enviroment.

Review 23:No air-conditioning but its on the lake and breezes help during thehot weather.

Review 24:Loved the staff...very friendly and helpful. The location isperfect...be sure to book a lake view. The breakfast were good and weate outdoors on the terrace overlooking Lake Constance. Also celebratedan anniversary in the lovely dining room and the food was excellent.

Review 25:It can be a bit of a challenge to park your car near the hotel.

Review 26:Location was very convenient. Beautiful view on the lake. Very nice andhelpful staff. Room was quiet and bathroom was very clean

Review 27:Good location and nice area to explore on day trips. Staff very accommodating, letting us choose other rooms w/ lake view. Info on week's events posted in lobby.

Review 28:The location was wonderful, in the market place of Langenargen, and directly on the lake. We upgraded to a room with a balcony overlooking the lake which I would highly recommend, the view is quite lovely. We visited in the low season so the town was definitely quiet, but still beautiful. Karin on reception was extremely friendly and very helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast and restaurant staff were all friendly and welcoming. We rented bikes from the hotel next door and cycled down to Lindau which again I would highly recommend, although this can be done via train also. The hotel offered a complimentary lift to the train station and Karin was extremely helpful providing us with timetables for trains and ferries for our onward journey. The hotel restaurant offered good German food at a reasonable price.

Review 29:Parking very difficult as right in town centre. Unable to provide dinner for our one night stay, due to large party in dining room,

Review 30:Pleasant Hotel with an excellent location by the lakeside Food good in nice surroundings

Review 31:The hotel was dated smelled a bit musty.

Review 32:The location was very nice with a view of the lake and Schloss Monfort.Langenargen was not as touristy as Lindau, which was nice.

Review 33:A genuine warm reception by a caring staff. A really nice family run hotel!! Accommodation was well above our expectation, modern and spacious. The view of the lake was well worth the extra money. Food, beer and wine all excellent and, in the main, locally sourced.

Review 34:Some rooms have recently been renovated, while others are still in 1980s style. Our rooms were a little stuffy, always had to keep the windows wide open for fresh air.

Review 35:Nice family run hotel in a great location by the lake and castle. The receptionist knows every guest by name. There's a nifty little device where you can lock up your bulky room key while going out of the hotel. Quiet place at night. Slept well. I like.

Review 36:Not much. It took us a few days to work out how to manage the rubbish but that was about it.

Review 37:We were visiting Langenargen to attend my nephew's wedding at Schloss Montfort. We stayed in one of the apartments and it was perfect: clean, comfortable and with all the facilities we required, especially the balcony! We loved the little private beach and, although we didn't use the spa facilities (too sunny!) it was great to have access.

Review 38:Niothing, I say nothing, is translated into english. The staff at thedesk do speak english, but it was difficult to know what was going on inthe area. Therefore it is difficult to recommend this hotel to peoplewho do not speak german. However, the beauy of the area may be enoughreason to stay and there is a tourist office.

Review 39:Immaculate room, well appointed. ..Not on seaside as they were filled, but on the marketplatz which was quieter and still interesting to lookout on. Service was great and breakfasts elegant.

Review 40:We stayed in the apartments which are 50 metres from the hotel. The apartment was excellent, a good size for 2 people and very well equipped for a holiday stay .Langenargen is a lovely quiet small town with an excellent selection of restaurants and cafes. The train station and supermarket are less than 5 minutes walk from the apartment. Lake Constance is beautiful with excellent views over Switzerland and the Austrian Alps.

Review 41:Car parking during the day is a nightmare, very limited parking infront of hotel and no space in underground garage whilst we were there. Our small bedroom and bathroom were a 1970’s throwback with tireddecoration and soft furnishings . Corridors to rooms gloomy withcarpeted walls ! This hotel seems to be trading on its position in apopular (over rated) resort and despite healthy room rates has not inour (standard room) experience invested in comfortable rooms forguests. I would not re-visit.

Review 42:Centrally located and close to lake with great lake views from roomsfacing it and nice marketplace views from those which don’T. Lift to allfloors so no access issues. Continental breakfast good with nice choiceincluding smoked salmon. Dining room is stylish with a good view of thelake or, weather permitting, eat on the terrace. Reception helpful andspeak good English.

Review 43:excellent location. Staff very welcoming and friendly. We arrived late and hungry and the staff still made a special effort and served us with a beautiful asparagus dinner. our room was large and comfortable eith breath taking view of the lake. i definitely recomend this hotel.

Review 50:Lovely hotel. Our second stay.

Review 51:The wi-fi was an extra cost.

Review 52:Lovely room with a view of the lake. Good restaurant. Central location.
