Reviews for Stratos ArtDeco House
Review 1:Hospitality was more than excellent. The owners went out of their way to make our stay excellent. Authentic place in an authentic village. Breakfast was so abundant that we needed no more food throughout the day. We will stay there again when we return to Cyprus.
Review 2:Great location for exploring Cyprus as centrally located. Quiet village and able to relax and enjoy surroundings. Great breakfasts and lovely hosts, Elena, Georgio and Mum, of course!!
Review 3:The Hosts were very very friendly and really cared about us. It was a warm welcome and a wonderful stay. The breakfast was also very good and really made with love. The room has been cleaned almost every day. We really liked our stay here and can recommend it to everyone else.
Review 4:We had a great stay at Stratos house. The room is very beautifully decorated with authentic traditional furniture but with all the modern necessities. The hosts were amazing, really warm and helpful, giving advice and suggestions for all the locations we visited. I recommend to try the breakfast. It is just fantastic.
Review 5:Parking far away, bad cell reception in the room, toiletries were used before, jacuzzi not warm enough, room not spacious/ ergonomic, bed uncomfortable and very noisy!!! Honestly not much to do around there
Review 6:Helpful owners, wifi, quiet place
Review 7:This is a very special place that has been restored with a lot of love, care and attention to provide a very special experience. Elena is amazing and cannot do enough for you and there is always something magical for breakfast or in the fridge in your room. A very different experience to touristy Cyprus and an amazing host. The village is also great with some good restaurants and welcoming locals.
Review 8:Nothing to dislike
Review 9:George and Elena's attention to detail for everything. Amazing home made breakfast. For our first visit to Cyprus it was the ideal place to stay.
Review 10:In the hotel there are only 3 rooms with the common yard so for us as a young couple privacy was lacking a bit. But otherwise - everything is perfect!
Review 11:Attention to details and to you. Hosts are very sincere and caring people who will do everything and even more for your comfort and careless stay in the hotel and forget about the world outside. A lot of small extras and favours, you are treated not like a guest but like a member of the family. Facilities are made in the old traditions with the modern touch and a lot of personalised details. It is really nice place to spend some time out of town.
Review 12:The room we stayed in was very small bit to be fair we had been warned about that in advance.
Review 13:Staff were very helpful and the place is very charming in decor and style
Review 14:There was nothing not to like. The place is amazing
Review 15:Beautifull traditional house, very nicely decorated, every little thing was given a personal touch. Very nice and and cosy. Our room was small but very comfortalbe. Elena and Giorgio were extremely kind and generous and really let us feel at home. If we will ever return to Cyprus we will definitely staty there again. Thank you Elena and Giorgio
Review 16:everything was perfect :)))
Review 17:Lovely old traditional cottage in a very friendly village. Elena and Georgiou made our stay very relaxing and comfortable. Delicious home made food. 10 minutes drive from a beautiful beach. Thank you very much again. You made our holiday!
Review 18:None.
Review 19:We loved the friendliness of the owners. The Cypriot breakfast and accommodation was typical of a Cypriot village home. The jacuzzi was a bonus in a lovely courtyard.
Review 20:Georgos and Elena are extremely friendly and hospitable owners. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they made you feel really at home. The food and drink was amazing.
Review 21:nothing
Review 22:Stratos house is a lovely place to be. With a personel touch. Elena had make a cake for my boyfriends birthday, it was super. The location is fine, its a quiet nice place to stay.
Review 23:Nothing negative to say at all
Review 24:Wonderful house and very welcoming hosts. Very stylish rooms, combining unique history with everything you need. Brilliant central location in a lovely village. Great rooms combined with a very personal touch made our stay.
Review 25:Giorgio and Elena are wonderful and attentive hosts. Nothing was too much for them - including Giorgio driving us to a restaurant in a neighbouring village, arranging a wonderful local taxi driver for us, and providing a steady flow of tasty treats! Our room - the smallest in the property - was very comfortable. Kalavasos is a wonderful village, and we found the villagers unfailingly helpful and friendly. We would certainly stay here again.
Review 26:To many light shining in the night into your rooms from the leaving the lights on. 1 would be enough. The floors got only swept. Dust and dirt are never nice to have from previous guest under your feet. to many bibs and bobs/gimcrackery are laying around not having space for your own stuff. little notes everywhere you cant be asked to read them all.(NoteBook recommended ) The Sunbeds and Flowerpots take to much space on the balcony. Wich leaves you space to turn right and left sit down, get up and go again.
Review 27:The Family cares about their guests so much :) and helps you where ever they can. offert wine from their house wine. They put their personal not in to the hotel you can see their presents in any room:) One off an kind village to stay into! quiet and lovely.
Review 28:The small room is very tiny but has all facilities.
Review 29:3 km from the main road, beautifully restored and kept house in anAuthentic village. Nicely decorated, clean, quite. We felt as if we hada home in cyprus. Close to governor's beach and to Zygi (fishrestaurants). Giorgio and Elena gave us lots of needed information aboutplaces to visit or recommendations of all kind.
Review 30:The cave IS realy smal. For a short stay it fits ( there is the court to sit and enjoy thr time), for a longer stay: take one of the suits.
Review 31:Very cosy place, very warm welcome. A beautifull courtyard.
Review 32:The bed was on an uneven floor, so it was tilted to the left side. The bed could be levelled on that side. I could have used a thicker blanket :)
Review 33:Elena, her mother, the house, the hospitality. George's for breakfast and dinner. The quiet. No city noises, it was heaven.
Review 34:One bit of advice ,if arriving by car,Dreams come true park at the football stadium and walk the 300 yards to Stratos House.
Review 35:Fantastic vacation.Elena was just incredible. We could not have wished for a more relaxing holiday.Strongly recommended to all.
Review 36:I had to leave after one week. I can easily see myself spending a whole month there.
Review 37:The kindness and generosity of the hosts, Giorgio and Elena, is simply heartwarming.
Review 38:One thing that we did't like is that it was dark inside.
Review 39:Very intresting experience of staying in a typical 350 years old House. if you want to really good peace of mind, its perfect place
Review 40:- owners who love their job - hospitality and a very warm welcome - perfection in details - very cosy, perfectly maintained old house - fantastic patio - very nice village
Review 41:Nothing. Everyhing was perfect!
Review 42:Owners (staff) were awesome! Very friendly, offering varios hints, about places, beaches, restaurants that locals know better than tourist blogs. Lot of comlimentary gifts, home made jam, wine, cyprus coffe, etc. If you hire a car (preferrably a small one :D ) you can reach any points of the island very quickly from Kalavasos. Not to talk about the room, which was simply charming, we didn't want to leave, when needed to check out. Everything was perfect, would love to go back at any time, I can only recommend this place.
Review 43:It was so nice I hate to complain about the WiFi but we could only get it in one or two spots in the room and it kept dropping out but don't let that put you off.
Review 44:Lovely room, shower, terrace just for is, comfy day bed for our daughter (12) and big four poster for us. Fascinating building and cobbled streets, narrow streets and lovely church and village square. Excellent value, older world, pretty and traditional, but modern air con and great facilities. Elena and Giorgio lovely people. George café in village square was excellent. Hot tub was definitely looking good but didn't have time to use it. Great location to try a selection of beaches in the south of the island (we were staying in the north by Polis.)
Review 45:Very stilish rooms, cozy house and owners are much more when friendly. Nice location for travelling along the island and you can find beaches just in a few minutes (not so good ones). Everything was perfect!
Review 46:Nothing!
Review 47:Wonderful helpful friendly owners who made us feel like part of the family and part of the village of Kalavassos. The family mementos and antiques that are everywhere also contribute to the uniqueness of your visit and the bed was the most comfortable we have slept on during our travels this trip.
Review 48:The bed was a bit high for our tastes because I have a bit of a vertigo problem.
Review 49:Nice big room with lovely toiletries from Korres. Nice decoration. All of the facilities worked very well and we appreciated the little details left for us in the fridge.
Review 50:The fact that we couldn't stay longer. There is nothing to dislike about Stratos House.
Review 51:The friendly reception. The abundance of useful, local information. Everything about the home that has been in the family for over 300 years. The personal touches from the home made lemon preserve to the nespresso machine, simply the best. You must stay at Stratos House.
Review 52:Owner very friendly, breakfast delicious
Review 53:For those who decided to experience the Kalavasos area this place is the best they could find.

Review 68:Excellent service, the hosts were really attentive. The room was spacious, clean and it was a really good value for money.
Review 69:Everything! Welcome from georgio and Elena amazing, beautiful accommodation and location
Review 70:Absolutely nothing :)
Review 71:Spotless, full discretion from the staff, awesome location
Review 72:Everything - a most welcoming and pleasant place to be.
Review 73:Beautiful location, beautiful house and excellent value. Giorgio and Eleni were very nice and friendly. We would love to go back and we highly recommend it if you are looking for a quieter traditional feel.
Review 74:Elena is a great hostess, and the building is small but beautiful with interesting bits and pieces to admire. Kalavasos is a lovely village - the Library Hotel is great for a treat, and there is a very interesting stone gallery with kittens to visit.
Review 75:The little village is nice, though not too spectacular. But there is a lot to do in the region if you have a car.
Review 76:Stratos House is the most beautifully furnished appartment we have ever been to. Every little detail is thoughthrough and decorated in a stylish way that perfectly suits the romantic athmosphere of the place. A court-yard with flowers, great lighting to make the place warm and cosy, a jaccuzi which the kids loved to bath in, a sunny terrace all very nicely maintained... A clear 10/10 for this lovely place.
Review 77:Great place to stay! Well cared for accommodation, complimentary wine, sweets, coffee and fruit. Nice village with good choice of tavernas. Short drive to beach or easy reach to explore trodos mountains.
Review 78:Elena was extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for you the property was beautiful & the village very friendly, particularly George's taverna in the village centre the children loved the hot tub
Review 79:The house is beautiful. It is very old but has been kept up and remodeled keeping all of the charm. There are terraces on the roof and an "indoor-outdoor" living space. Elena, the proprietor could not be more helpful and accommodating. We could not recommend it more highly.
Review 80:Stratos house is a beautiful villa set in a small rustic village with super friendly staff, 3 cute bedrooms and a lovely little court yard to chill out with a cup of Arabic coffee and a good book.
Review 81:We are really happy about our experience in this traditional House. The owners are extremely kind, the House is beautiful, we had the suite with the terrace, very special. Excelent experience ! Thanks, Elisabetta
Review 82:There is nothing to dislike! My only regret is we could't stay more than one night :(
Review 83:That was something!!! I had high expectations from all the reviews and it was even so much better than that! We got the small room which was beautifully decorated and simply amazing. Bed was comfy, bathroom was clean and all had the home touch. The property is wonderfull, Elena is a very nice lady with whom we really enjoyed talking to.
Review 84:There is no Swimming pool. you need to drive to the next town and use it at a restaurant/pub. Jacuzzi is not heated. It is normal water and can not be heated. half hour use free per day, additional use is charged per person at four Euro per thirty minutes. A small caraffe of wine on arrival has replaced a bottle.
Review 85:Great host who knows a lot of info to help you plan what to do. Beautiful location and guest house.
Review 86:Where do I start? Everything about our short stay at Stratos House was wonderful. Elena is a charming and knowledgeable host who speaks excellent English and the lovely old house and its beautiful furnishings just ooze character. We found little welcoming gifts of water, wine, fruit and sweets awaiting us - a lovely personal touch. We had the Makrinari suite in which the main room has a gorgeous half-tester bed, a large wardrobe and dresser, a desk, two very comfortable armchairs and a wall-mounted TV. This room led in one direction to the second bedroom (two single beds and a cot) and in the other to a small but fully equipped kitchen which in turn led off to the shower room. Being inside the apartment felt almost like being in a museum in that each item placed there was beautiful, interesting, intriguing or amusing but, in sharp contrast, every modern convenience was provided to ensure a comfortable stay. Our apartment, along with two others, opened into a small, enclosed courtyard, again furnished with interesting items (and the jacuzzi!) and tables and chairs in the shade. Up some stone steps lay the fourth apartment along with a sunny terrace, again furnished with tables, chairs and sunbeds. This area and the courtyard make very sociable places to chat with our hosts and with other guests. Being an old, stone property, we had expected a little dust, perhaps a few cobwebs but everything was absolutely spotless - either Elena has a whole team of housekeeping fairies or she spends every hour of her day cleaning! Kalavasos itself is a lovely village - the whole place, just like Stratos House, seemed to have been scrubbed! The villagers were quick to smile and while we were strolling around the little winding streets one helpful gentlemen even came over to ask if we needed any directions. Our only disappointment was that we could only stay for two nights and we very much look forward to another visit in the future.
Review 87:Very nice room. Lots of space. Helena is very nice and welcoming. It's a great place for a relaxing vacation , 10 min drive from governor Beach which is very beautiful
Review 88:A very pleasant and slightly unusual guesthouse in a quiet hillside village that makes a pleasant change from the seaside resort hotels of Limassol and Lanarca. Extremely friendly and helpful hosts.
Review 89:very nice people and family, thanks Elena for all your care and advices very charming and quiet place affordable price very good breakfast at Georges Cafe in the mainplace of the village
Review 90:The stone cave room is topo small, even for one person, with a small window on the inside patio. It's about 7 m.square and the bathroom 1,5.
Review 91:The owner was kind. The house is very close to the main square, to the excellent Mito restaurant of the Library hotel and to the nice art gallery.
Review 92:Everything - Georgio and Elena are wonderful hosts, who have made Stratos House into a welcoming, warm place to relax and enjoy a taste of Cyprus.
Review 93:Giorgio and Elena were such amazing hosts. He met us in the courtyardas soon as we arrived and went with my husband to show him where topark the car. He then carried our bags up to our room for us. Our roomwas gorgeous! It was even better in person than the photos showed.Elena came with some homemade treats and coffee a little after ourarrival and spoke with us for about 30 minutes or so. She had somegreat tips on where to go during our stay. We were staying at Stratoshouse for our 6th anniversary, and they had put a bottle of sparkingwine in the refrigerator for us and some fresh fruit in the kitchen. Onour second day there, after a long day of being out all day, Giorgiobrought us some more homemade treats that were just delicious. We feltso spoiled being there. I would definitely go back if we ever make itback to Cyprus.
Review 94:Everything much smaller than visualized on photo's. No staff or family or other guests around so quite lonley. unfriendly village and breakfast place. no pool as advertised. nothing there of interest. Ok if your using the place to rest your head after adventures out.
Review 95:A young family who really wanted to please. a nicley presented quaint place.
Review 96:Hospitality and guest friendliness takes on a whole new different meaning the moment you check in this traditionally built, beautiful family run accommodation. The owners Yiorgos and Elena greeted us with fresh, home made traditional local food, delicacies and wine. Everything in Stratos house is made with care and lots of love. The room is decorated beautifully, and has all the features of an old traditional Cypriot house while having all the modern facilities and comforts. Yiorgos and Elena make you feel that if there is anything you need but is not there you can always ask and you shall receive it. If you don't ask anything they might still surprise you with little treats during the day. Stratos house is close to Kalavasos village square which makes it perfect to have small walks around the village or to have car excursions in the surrounding villages or even the sea that is a 5 minutes drive away. Thank you Yiorgos and Elena A&S
Review 97:Not staying for longer. :-)
Review 98:Amazingly friendly hosts. I cannot really say enough nice things about them and their guesthouse. It most certainly had the most comfortable bed of our ten night roundtrip across the island.
Review 99:Although we loved the quiet of the village, we would have liked a bitmore life in the taverns in the evenings, but we stayed in April, soprobably a bit early for most tourists.
Review 100:We loved this small family run traditional hotel in a lovely village. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful. Elena's mothersurprised us with a pan of bean stew after we came back from a long walkin the mountains. On several occasions they made us Cypriot coffee whichwe enjoyed on our sunny terrace.
Review 101:Hard to be there without a car and costs quite a bit to get a taxi from the airport.
Review 102:So beautiful, traditional and so quiet! A wonderful taste of life in a small village in Cyprus. The apartment has everything you need as well as things you didn't know you needed.
Review 103:Beautiful period furniture and excellent quality soft furnishings and toiletries. Very helpful owner of house in family 300 years. Enormously good value for a really comfortable suite having kitchen and outside sun terrace
Review 104:We were at the end of the season, so take the remarks in proportion. Theshowers were small, and in some apartments the floor got flooded. Thehouse was held wiyth the mother, whos spoke only Greek, so thecommunication with Hellen was "remote control", but worked quite ok.Best parking is 100 meters away, at the stadium parking. No real accessto the hotel by car
Review 105:Location: in the middle of the interesting sites and mountains. Tranquilplace. Close to the main highway and yet far enough. The house wasspecious with big rooms and nice patio. The hospitality was warm andwelcomming. Every request was handled warmly. The breakfast was atGeorge restaurant: it was really generous.
Review 106:We were there for 5 nights and for a short period like that, perhaps outside the summer, in a country with water shortages, I don't think the sheets and towels should be changed without the guest asking. (But this isn't really a criticism so much as a suggestion for improvement)
Review 107:Beautiful apartment, with quirky historical features. Extremely hospitable hosts. Cyprus is so over-developed, it's a pleasure to find a location where the old is valued. Village is pleasant and ordinary and we found it a good base for exploring. Breakfast in the village cafe was good and we tried two tavernas, both of which were fine.
Review 108:The family room ist in the lower floor an has windows only to a small place. So there is not very light. The room on the upper lever has more light, but is only for 2 persons. You can not park the car in front of the house.
Review 109:The room was very clean and quiet. The furniture was very interesting and familiar. The owner tries to help us were ever possible. The booked breakfast, which you get in a restaurant on the main village place was the best we got during our holiday in cypress
