Reviews for Old Mill Toronto

Review 1:I stayed over for two nights, 24, 25th Dec: I did not like to food- they served the exact same food for 24th dinner, 25th brunch and 25th dinner (most probably the same food, re- heated)...

Review 2:Great resort, great location

Review 3:Breakfast was not ready at 7.00 and was limited for those with any dietary requirements. Temperature in room did not seem to be adjustable even though the controls appeared to be working. The room remained hot all night.

Review 4:Room was spacious and bed was comfortable.

Review 5:Our room was a little bit worn - but not enough to spoil the stay.

Review 6:Great location, beautiful grounds, warm ambiance, fireplace in room, large bathroom. Delightful breakfast was included.

Review 7:Loved it! The staff was wonderful, so kind and very helpful. I would absolutely stay here again, I would go back to Toronto just to get the opportunity to stay here again. Breakfast was included and was okay. SPA was nice and clean and the staff was attentive and very good at their job. The jazz bar is cozy and has good food.

Review 8:They were having private parties during our stay, so the restraunt was closed to us, the bar was full, with no place to sit, we had to order room service and sit in our small room. We did not arrive in our formal attire and felt uncomfortable unless my husband had jacket and tie. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to enjoy and relax!!!!!

Review 9:Locatio

Review 10:I booked 6 months in advance and the view out the window was of garbage bins belonging to the high rise apartment building next door. I expected a better room .

Review 11:Beautiful gardens

Review 12:We liked everything. Close to the Humber valley...hiking, fishing, cycling, canoeing. Excellent facilities and staff second to none in helpfulness. Excellent food, delicious and high quality. Continental breakfast wonderful. Next to subway and easy access to Toronto sites.

Review 13:Keys that did not work Pull out bed not made up, previous linens had to be removed first! Front staff who answered phone and kept me waiting when checking in.

Review 14:Room very nice, breakfast was great - wait staff very friendly

Review 15:The waitress at the table at the wedding we were at was rude. my kids got stuck in the elevator at 1 am and the emergency phone did not work so they had to call us to wake us up and my husband had to go and force the door open.

Review 16:Nothing

Review 17:Upgraded to a suite, very comfortable, spacious bathroom. Excellent staff, great breakfast. Away from the bustle of the city, but only 30mins travel by tube.

Review 18:The only "downside" my wife and I could see about our stay in the beautiful Old Mill Inn would be the food situation. The buffet for dinner had a great salad and dessert selection, both were flavorful and even exciting with such a variety of sweet and savory options. The entrees on the other hand were lackluster in flavor and scarce in choice. In addition the breakfast had a serious lack of selection, though healthy. I must say though neither would deter our choice to stay again.

Review 19:The Old Mill Inn was definitely the highlight stay of our honeymoon road trip through Ontario. We cannot even sum up the things that made our stay so wonderful and even perfect in this, what we see as, lavish hidden gem in the woods of Toronto.

Review 20:-Staff were somewhat reluctant to let a friend with a stroller and a disability use the service elevator. They made it clear that the request was inconvenient to them and I found that rude and disrespectful -Ridiculous to charge a resort fee on top of the price of the room (nice inn but it was not a resort!) -I was overcharged and had to spend over half an hour on the phone trying to straighten it out

Review 21:-Beautiful place to have a weddiing... we didn't feel like we were in Toronto at the inn -Comffortable room -Great selection for breakfast

Review 22:There waas NOT one thing that we did not like about the Old Mill. We loved our four night stay there and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Toronto for business or for pleasure!

Review 23:The staff was wonderful! We particularly like Dawnetta and Allison. They were particularly helpful! The rooms were immaculate and with a wonderfully comfortable bed. We appreciated the little extras like the "turn down" service at night and the fire place being on when we returned from an evening out. Breakfasts were awesome and the nearby subway was easy to use and convenient to downtown!

Review 24:Staff was not friendly, had to get up and seek service and request bill in outside dining area twice. They acted like we were bothering them. Requested extra washcloths since only two were provided, they brought five. Housekeeping took them back next day and left two again. Requested more regular k cups, they brought decaf as well, again housekeeping took them back next day. Fireplace was a lightbulb.

Review 25:The room was clean, grounds were pretty, though we walked through a wedding in process in the lobby to check in.

Review 26:Staff strangely aloof - front desk staff (except the blonde lady from the UK) consistently refused to make eye contact, or look up from staring studiously at the counter, to greet us or acknowledge us even though we stayed there for a week. We saw them absolutely fawn over others...really strange. And, for this reason, I won't I will stay here again. Furniture in the room: too much of it to start with - hard to move around. Stained upholstery on the arm of the sofa bed off-putting.

Review 27:Nice bed, good breakfast, quiet room

Review 28:Unfortunately for us we arrived late Sunday for a three night stay, we discovered the following day that the restaurant closed both Monday and Tuesday nights and we were therefore unable to sample a meal at the restaurant. Alternative facilities of a " Bar meal" were taken and food and service were really good. We were just left a little disappointed not being able to use the fine dining experience.

Review 29:Staff were very helpful, always giving assistance when needed.Really convenient for the subway system which is so easy to use.

Review 30:The breakfast resembled something you would find in a gas station and the event food and programme was way below par.

Review 31:Yes the hotel is clean, the bed is comfortable...but that's about it.

Review 32:We had dinner at the restaurant We found the food quality average and low value for the money Example $18 for a side order of fries was way too much Wish we went to the Keg instead

Review 33:We loved everything about the Old Mill Inn. It is beautiful and charming with an old-world feel. The staff and service were outstanding. Beautiful walking paths and close to the subway. We will most likely stay here whenever we visit Toronto.

Review 34:I'm still not sure why more money was taken off my card, after we checked in? Was that for a mandatory gratuity? Also, the breakfast buffet was not what I was expecting for the price we paid, I think it should be have been better quality with more items. I'm not sure we got the best price on our accommodations.

Review 35:Staff was amazing, super helpful and friendly. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. the grounds are very picturesque, you forget you're in downtown Toronto.

Review 36:The rooms are a refreshing change from the corporate feeling chains. As I stay in hotels from Monday to Thursday for work I wanted my holiday to feel as though I was home from home. This certainly achieved this being set in a beautiful location and the calm relaxed feel that it has.

Review 37:Nothing. If I can get another deal, I will not hesitate to return.

Review 38:The Old Mill is top notch in all aspects. Although, I am probably not their usual clientele (I wore jeans and a tee shirt most of the time) they treated me respectfully anyway and wore very helpful. Also I loved that jazz was playing when I entered my room. I left it on the entire time.

Review 39:My only complaint is that the breakfast was lacking a bit. I appreciate that it's included in the room cost, which is pretty rare, especially in bigger cities, but I needed just a little more - perhaps a protein option other than hard boiled eggs and cold cuts. If you don't do dairy or gluten, you're pretty much stuck with fruit. The yogurt, cereal, pastries and bagels looked lovely, and I understand that's pretty much what a continental breakfast is, but peameal bacon, even another egg option, would've been nice, too.

Review 40:The staff was excellent from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. The room was spacious and modern, which was a surprise considering it's such an old property. They've done a great job with the conversion to a hotel. It was quiet and nice to get away from Toronto city centre but it's also very close. Without traffic (which is never) it's like downtown Tdot is right down the street. Otherwise, it's still only 15-20 minutes away. Tip: avoid Bloor like the plague! Take the Queensway or the Gardiner if it's running well. Then of course there's a TTC station about four minutes around the corner. Super easy, this place is very accessible.

Review 41:The room door was locked, my wife was talking a shower, with the bathroom door closed (shower could be clearly heard from outside the bathroom). A male staff let himself unannounced into our room, did not even knock on the bathroom door, and walked right into the bathroom scaring my wife. We reported this to a female staff at reception, but nothing was done, not even an apology. We think the whole episode was unacceptable.

Review 42:We were upgraded to a 3-room suite!

Review 43:Coffee-maker instructions were not clear. Also, as it was cold one evening, I tried to turn up the thermostat, but it did not warm up the room.

Review 44:The staff were most courteous and helpful.

Review 45:None.

Review 46:It is not located downtown but the subway next door can take you anywhere in Toronto. The hotel is old but well maintained and clean. The staff are friendly and the room rates are real good value for money.

Review 47:Through no fault of the hotel, cab drivers should be educated to drop off their out-of-town guests at the front entrance. I was dropped off near the subway station (not knowing any better) and had to walk the distance around to the main entrance!

Review 48:Friendly staff Great bar maids, patrons! Drinks and entertainment were fabulous.

Review 49:The dry cleaning company lost my pants. It is being send by mail to me however.

Review 50:Very friendly staff, good service and a beautiful room. In the bar there is live music in the evening

Review 51:Just one very minor thing: I wasn't expecting the "Hospitality Costs" of 12$ per night. I don't mind it and they are certainly deserved, I just didn't know about it, so it was an unexpected surprise and increase in cost at the end of the stay.

Review 52:Everything! The staff were simply INCREDIBLE. Nice, helpful, professional - just perfect. The room was the cheapest one and it was gorgeous, very very very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was great. The breakfast/dinning room/area was gorgeous - actually, lets just say that the whole place was gorgeous! I cannot possibly oversell this place. Free and ample parking. Subway just around the corner. Easy to drive to and from. Wi-fi in the room and hotel was flawless (not free, but flawless) Quiet and beautiful area. PERFECT, especially for a Romantic stay! Stay here, it is worth it!

Review 53:The breakfast was not the level expected for a hotel of this calibre. Basic continental with hot food an additional cost. Buffet lunch not as good as a la carte evening menu.

Review 54:It was our anniversary and the hotel gave us a card and chocolates which was a nice touch. Hotel room amazing. Huge upgrade for just $35 offered by the hotel. Comfortable bed and lovely room with fire and a whirlpool bath. A la carte menu really good in the evening. Friendly staff. Great location.

Review 55:Hidden fees...that were not identified until check in. It was for Wife. .. so that was not free, in room coffee....which did not exist as the coffee maker had been removed.

Review 56:Staff were fantastic. Food was excellent

Review 57:double tub a little small for the two of us--but still lovely I know we were off-season but no in-house music or restaurant in the first part of the week--which is when we were there. also no movie channel--which would be great for the winter season especially

Review 58:Beautiful old surroundings steps from the subway to downtown. Great food (Sunday night buffet), and very comfy bed. Nice and quiet Spa service was wonderful!!

Review 59:.for dinner on Friday night our only choices were the huge buffet in the dining room or a very limited food menu in the bar .the sign for the front lobby was confusing and we were dropped off by the tea room where our driver saw the lobby sign

Review 60:.the general relaxed atmosphere of the hotel and friendly staff at the front desk .the comfortable bed and super clean bedding .the holiday decorations throughout the hotel

Review 61:The treatment we received from beginning to end was excellent. The atmosphere everwhere (our room, the chapel, the banquet room, the restaurant, the bar) was warm and inviting. We will recommend your hotel to our friends.

Review 62:Finding the check in was difficult. There were 4 customer service people at the desk and only one other customer, yet we were not served promptly. Even when we told them we needed to check in to change for a wedding in less than half an hour, the agents still did nothing until one finally got off the phone. Then when arrived in the room, it was the wrong room; we booked a king bed with a sofa bed for our daughter and it was only one double bed. They did change our room, 10 minutes before the wedding, most inconvenient and inefficient.

Review 63:The ambience of the hotel is lovely.

Review 64:The entire stay was great. The staff, the cleanliness, the bed, the shower, etc. We had a great time and would definitely stay again. Highly recommended.

Review 65:The location was superb. In the countryside, quiet. The food was out of this world. Especially the lunchtime buffet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I can honestly say this is probably the best hotel ive ever stayed at.

Review 66:wedding people did not return our messages. food portions rather small size for the price. Our 40 yr anniversary was nice but could be better. Billing was not easy to understand credits vs balance double taxs

Review 67:gardens only limited but still nice. We are looking to book for a wedding for our daughter. We had the freedom to wander around and check all the rooms Breakfast was really nice.

Review 68:Small bed and non functioning lifts.

Review 69:Location. It's handy to the airport if you have a car, there is plenty of parking. Also near the metro to travel downtown.

Review 70:That we had to leave after only a 3 night stay.

Review 71:We loved the whole look of the Old Mill. It had garden outlooks, cosy, comfortable rooms which didn't feel like a hotel but more like your favourite aunt's guest room. The casual bar with great musicians was laid back ... such a great atmosphere. Can't speak highly enough of this lovely hotel out of the ugly grasp of suburbia. Gorgeous!

Review 72:we enjoyed everything there is nothing we did not like

Review 73:we liked everything about this hotel. the staff, our bedroom, breakfast, surroundings, gardens, decorations and the wonderfull smell in the hotel. wished we could have stayed longer but when we go back to canada we will definitely would stay longer at the old mill.

Review 74:the beds were way to soft.

Review 75:We there for a family wedding and stayed two nights. The staff were very helpful and courteous as well as friendly. Valet Parking was extremely reasonable. The bathroom spa tub in our room was wonderful.

Review 76:We were in a wedding party and asked well in advance to access our room one hour earlier than the 4 p.m. check-in time. The room was not ready nor were most of the 20 rooms or so booked by our group.

Review 77:The room was very nice, well-appointed, comfortable. The bed was comfortable as well. Nice view over parklands and river.

Review 78:The cost at the restaurant was a little high, but the food was delicious.

Review 79:We spent our honeymoon there, and the staff were exceptional hosts. We never had to once call for a limo, food, etc., anything we desired the staff took care of for us. The room had soft.music and lighting, and a bottle of wine waiting for us upon arrival.

Review 80:Not really a criticism, but something to think about: I guess because it's out of the city center our cab driver from the airport and the rental car service a couple of days later had trouble finding the hotel.

Review 81:Great location out of the city hustle and bustle, but around the corner from the excellent subway service! Our luggage didn't arrive until the next day so we really appreciated the toothbrushes and robes. The staff was very nice and when I couldn't get the Keurig hot beverage maker to make some hot water for tea, they brought me a pot of hot water late at night with a smile on their face. The breakfast was really first rate.

Review 82:Upon arrival, we were informed that our room had been comped to a suite. We were already excited to be staying at Old Mill, but this certainly didn't hurt! Having mentioned in our booking that we would be celebrating our 4th anniversary, we were only further impressed to see they had placed a customized card on our pillow with a small box of ice wine chocolates to congratulate us on the occasion. Amazing hospitality! Even if we hadn't had such a warm welcome, everything else was superb. The grounds and interior were beautiful, the staff was always upbeat and helpful, and Old Mill really does well to set itself apart from the city and make you forget about the hustle and bustle only streets away. On the afternoon of our arrival, we also partook in high tea, which was so tasty and relaxing that we keep reminiscing about it weeks later. Later that night, we ordered from the all-day in-room dinner menu and the meals we received were top notch delicious! When we decided we couldn't afford to travel outside the city for this year's anniversary, we never imagined we would find a solution that proved to be so perfect. Ever since our stay, we've been raving about Old Mill to anyone who will listen, so thank you, Old Mill, for a peaceful and romantic anniversary!

Review 83:The price of food and drinks was a little high, but that seems general in Toronto.

Review 84:This is a really nice hotel built in old style architecture. The room was not very large but more than adequate with lots of frills...Bar meals were good (the restaurant was closed on the one day we could have used it). Free parking accross the road and lovely walks through the park along the river. We would certainly stay here again!

Review 85:no swimming pool

Review 86:convenient location (close to subway station), quiet and nice environment, clean room with plenty amenities, delicious buffet breakfast & room service, friendly & helpful staffs.

Review 87:Rather limited bar menu.

Review 88:The staff are extremely accommodating and make every effort to ensure comfort and convenience of the guests, this hotel compares very well with many others that I have stayed in.

Review 89:Restaurant waiter (with beard and an Asian appearance) on Monday Morning (18th August) was abrupt with my wife and I and did not offer any menu options or explain what we needed to do - also offered no coffee refills, we had to requested this. Also observed him removing cash tips from other tables without clearing the table of used crockery - he didn't represent the hotel image as we knew it.

Review 90:Reception staff friendly and polite

Review 91:Restaurant very dark if you do not get sat in the conservatory area. A little surprised when we arrived on a Saturday to find the hotel full of wedding parties, we counted at least six!

Review 92:Picturesque hotel in a lovely, quiet location with nice walks from the hotel. Very good breakfast provided, hotel bar very friendly with nice snacks available. Subway station easily accessible with access to city centre.

Review 93:Bit of a walk on stone pavers into the sunken gardens and to the parkinglot especailly after heavy rains.

Review 94:Cd player and Jazz music on the radio, fireplace turned on ice bucketfilled, chocolates on the pillow , bar and restaurant on site along withthe spa service. Very sensual . Lovely people at the front desk.

Review 95:You would never know you were in Toronto. The beautiful grounds and surrounding greenery hides the concrete and asphalt typically seen. The rooms are luxurious and immaculate. It was quiet and peaceful. I met my sister and niece here and we had such a great time we hope to make it an annual ladies event.

Review 96:Some furniture a bit dated

Review 97:Just about everything. Staff was super helpful and friendly, location out of the way but easily accessible to just about everywhere, easy access to transit

Review 124:Switches on the bedside lamps were WAY too high to reach from in bed. Maybe put switches on the cord so you can read in bed.

Review 125:The setting was great!

Review 126:Enjoyed everything about the old mill experience from begging to end, it was perfect. Exceeded my expectations in every way.
