Reviews for Thompson Toronto

Review 1:Beautiful room, comfy bed! Close to my favourite restaurants and shops in downtown Toronto. Loved the rooftop lounge and Colette. Thompson Diner was great too!

Review 2:Very dark hallways and lobby. No where to sit in lobby. Elevators were not working properly and very slow. Roof lounge could be very nice but all the comfortable seating has your back to the skyline view.

Review 3:Room was clean and comfortable but noisy and with no view.

Review 4:the main reason to book this hotel was the lounge/bar - both at ground level and rooftop. a. ground level was under renovation and i was not informed of this at booking - b.rooftop as usual had a private function. I would have stayed elsewhere had i known in advance. also room was too close to the service elevator or some door opening and closing at all hours -

Review 5:i prefer this west end location - walkable to downtown and king street amenities - comfortable room and overall design a plus.

Review 6:There was only one small sofa in the room and an office chair, so one of us would always end up having to sit on the bed for the most part.

Review 7:Very nice hotel, well situated, very pleasant bar. The roof top view is amazing! Rooms are comfortable, clean and decorated with style but would need to be upkept regularly. Colette restaurant has great coffee and great pastries. Personnel is very helpful.

Review 8:Not a one!

Review 9:Less was definitely MORE!!! 1) Less shower door glass Great design, less to clean, one of the greatest shower heads in a hotel, EVER! 2) Choice of wood floor covering, felt great on the tootsies Great not having fluff between the toes/lungs! Less wear and tear on staff/equipment 3) Super fab TV mounting and a kinky reminder for the sleeping area (Smile) 4) Built-in bookshelves added a unique modern touch to eliminate excess furniture

Review 10:we were hoping to have access to the rooftop bar and pool and it was closed for a wedding. Very very disappointing. We should have received a voucher of some kind. Isn't that the main feature of the hotel???

Review 11:The facility was clean and comfortable.

Review 12:Disappointed housekeeping failed to clean room & replenish towels on 2nd day. However, immediately rectified when brought to their attention.

Review 13:Excellent facilities plus helpful, professional staff. Good location. Fabulous view of city from rooftop pool and bar.

Review 14:The one thing that I didn't like was that we were able to check in online before coming in and it gave us an upgrade that said it was free and then being charged when we left was a little bit disheartening.

Review 15:I love that the staff was very friendly and treated us like VIP. Having the rooftop pool was definitely a bonus and having the club upstairs, allowed us to have a great time without having to leave the premises.

Review 16:If you want to sleep with the roar of luxury cars in your room or all customers the rooftop when it closes, then this is for you. If not... run away! Luxury is only apparent in this hotel, the rooms are poorly insulated and the lights turn on for no reason at night. Certainly the pool has a nice view but that is all you will find at Thompson ! This hotel is worthy of a road hotel for spoiled children. Moreover the staff is haughty and the quality of service is deplorable. In conclusion, that was the worst hotel I ever seen

Review 17:There was a little confusion at the front desk about the internet, we went up to the room thinking we were not able to have it because we didn't pay for it at the time of the reservation.... which wasn't true, as we soon diacovered. Minor miscommunication.

Review 18:The rooftop bar and pool were very nice, but the bar was a bit pricey. To be expected though. The room was very nice, clean. Overall we were happy.

Review 19:We loved the room and bathroom (comfortable, beautiful, a good size, great light), your pet policy is excellent (esp. For well behaved dogs like ours), loved the pool and roof area.

Review 20:It was pretty noisy on Thursday night, but that was the only night I noticed it. I was only there on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights though and I got in late on Tuesday night.

Review 21:Location was great. Roof top pool was lovely!

Review 22:Wasn't fond of the fact that we got kicked off of the rooftop twice during our 2 night stay due to private parities. Staff was rude about it.

Review 23:Gorgeous hotel. The rooms are quiet, comfy & beautiful. Great location very close to fun bars.

Review 24:Late checkout time indicated by front desk staff over the phone pre-booking was 2pm. Upon arrival the best they could do was 1pm.

Review 25:The staff were very professional about the discrepancy in checkout time and offered access to the rooftop pool for the remainder of the day after checkout, and stored our luggage safely for the day. Rooftop pool and lounge provides a spectacular 360 view of the city, service at the lounge was impeccable, and the food/drink quality only validated my positive experience.

Review 26:I had a very hard time getting up to my room, due to the elevators being down. It was a very long wait to use the elevators. It resulted in me and my guests having to use the stairs

Review 27:The room was clean and the washroom was great

Review 28:I called for sleepers and the moment I tried them on it broke, it was extremely poor quality. I also wanted to use Thompson shopping bag which looked very nice but I opened it and paper was torn so I could not use it, very disappointing.

Review 29:Tenor concert at the rooftop terrace.

Review 30:Over priced for the size and view of room. Fire alarm went off for 45 min at 6 am - no appogy or any attempt to make it right at the time or upon check out. I will not stay again due to lack of service and appreication of me choosing your over priced hotel.

Review 31:The rooftop pool and room decor

Review 32:Room service slow to pick up phone and the business meeting rooms in the basement were not good - very hot and stuffy.

Review 33:Enjoyed the room itself but room service was slow to answer the phone - I almost hung up twice it rang so long

Review 34:Hotel registration was mixed up - assigned an incorrect room number. Unexperienced staff who probably excel at looking good instead of focusing on proper service. Room had no warmth - no art or pictures on the walls. Empty shelves everywhere. Had to pay for bottled water. No towels in the gym. Dirty wipes on machines at the gym. The breakfast option is a farce. That Diner belongs in a food cemetery. No focus whatsoever on healthy options. COLETTE however was a gem - only to discover it's not affiliated to the hotel. Of course - it was perfect!!! Hotel felt like it had no soul. Very disappointing and über expensive - definitely not worth the price.

Review 35:Rooftop lounge was great - service extremely slow

Review 36:Staff incredibly rude, very stuck up especially the girls that are in charge of organizing the night time events on the roof top. The front desk and security were very dishonest, we received 1 noise complaint and immediately lowered our voices and kept it low key and as soon as we checked out we were smacked with a 250 dollar noise fee because apparently they asked us 3 times to keep it down which was false. Manager was useless as well. Overall if it wasn't for the look of this hotel it wouldn't do well, staff super rude. Will stay at the trump next time.

Review 37:Location was good, roof top lounge was amazing great drinks, music and over all vibe. Bed super comfy and bathroom had heated floors very nice.

Review 38:a little more pricey than I would normally spend, Toronto was COLD for end of April lol

Review 39:amenities (valet), location, spectacular rooftop bar, great gym, very well appointed rooms!!

Review 40:We arrived two hours after our stated check-in time, and still had to wait a half hour--but that in itself is not the problem. The staff were very accommodating and bought my partner and I drinks at the bar. We appreciated that, thank you! The problem, unfortunately, was the state of our $600/night suite upon arrival. There was hair, what we think was pet hair, all over the floors. The room was dusty. The cushion on the brown couch in the sitting area was backwards. In the washroom, we could see the rings on the counter from the previous tenant's bathroom products.Clearly the counters had not even been wiped. We used baby wipes to clean the toilet seat and fixture handles after that. We were pretty uncomfortable at this point, but when we turned down the comforter and saw that there was no top bed sheet, we just felt sick. We called down and were promptly provided with the missing sheet, but it was hard to sleep in that bed, now wondering what else had been carelessly overlooked. The handle in the shower pops clean off when you pull it. The tub sounds like it's going to rip through the floor when it's running, and while that didn't really bother us, I suspect the folks below us didn't appreciate it. I would've expected all of this from, say, a motel, but for the cost of three nights this was not worth the money. Due to the negligence of the room, I will sadly not be recommending The Thompson to colleagues and family members.

Review 41:The staff was very friendly and the location was excellent. We appreciated how outgoing the staff and got some great tips from them about where to go and what to do in the city. In particular we were helped by Patrick and Sara, thanks for your help!

Review 42:A flawless stay. Super comfy spacious rooms, highly attentive service and a wonderful diner for breakfast delights. Definitely recommend the Thompson!

Review 43:The fact that a bathtub is $70.00 more! Stuck with the shower. Also, facilities limited in winter. Parking was expensive at $55 a night.

Review 44:Comfortable bed in quieter location but still close to everything.

Review 45:Room was a little dry. Not sure if anything can be done about it but if possible it would be a lot more comfortable.

Review 46:The service was excellent. Staff are very, very professional.

Review 47:Bathroom lighting. It's a bit hard to put on makeup.

Review 48:I have had many mini staycations in Toronto and Thompson is my favorite. The service is amazing, restaurant options great. Surrounding area fun. I can't wait for my next excuse to come visit.

Review 49:The free WiFi is somewhat very slow. However, for my purpose, it was acceptable, Just not for video streaming though. Parking is not free. Then, it is within city limit and the price is reasonable. The hotel location is ideally and easy access to major highways.

Review 50:The folks at Valet Parking, Front Desk, and Housekeeping were very nice. They even know you by name. Very friendly! Roomy and good layout bathroom. All eateries are within walking distance.

Review 51:We stayed at the Thompson on our wedding night and the staff were amazing friendly helpful and they upgraded us because we were getting married which was so great. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable and quiet . The hotel is very beautiful I can't wait to stay there again

Review 52:Bar could be better on main floor. it isn't very busy maybe it needs a change of atmosphere... The rooftop bar was closed for private event. seems to be closed when we stay at the hotel often.

Review 53:Rooms are great, we loved Collette

Review 54:Although they gave us an upgrade, the room was not ready when we checked in (15 mins before official check in time). The main reason we chose this hotel was for the rooftop amenities (pool and lounge), which was not available due to several events being held. When we tried to check the availability prior to booking, they were unable to let us know if they were open.

Review 55:Loved the room, the rooftop pool and lounge were great when we could use them. We went for our anniversary and the hotel surprised us with an upgrade and treats to help us celebrate, which was fantastic. The staff was friendly and a pleasure to interact with.

Review 56:Roof top bizarre policies No food or drink allowed round pool area Too busy at the weekends Guests not allowed on the roof top when private function is on, which is most days/nights and the only reason I booked this hotel was for the roof top pool/bar Silly pool attendant who asks you to move sunbeds to accommodate other people Weekends are way too busy if you can get into the pool then lucky you, it's very small for the people they cram up there

Review 57:24 hr DIner Location Rooms

Review 58:The food was really not up to the standard of the hotel. Looked forward to Wabora, which had a great staff and sake collection but mediocre, often oily food. A room service breakfast from the other restaurant was heavy and poorly presented. Fortunately Toronto has amazing restaurants so I went outside to eat. The Thompson could do much better in this respect.

Review 59:I hope hardwood floors become the standard in other hotels in the years to come. As someone with allergies I really appreciate the fresher air and lack of dust as compared with carpeted rooms . Simple but functional decor with floor to ceiling windows that open. Bright clean marble bathroom.

Review 60:They did not inform that the downstairs club would be close until September and there were weddings on Saturday and Sunday that prevented access to rooftop. I booked hotel because of rooftop and club and that was a disappointment.

Review 61:The bed is very comfortable, friendly staff, and great view when rooftop is accessible.

Review 62:The hotel was a nightclub of sorts at night. When we retuned from the concert there were bouncers at the door and a party going on in the lobby and heavy traffic up and down the elevators to the rooftop bar. There was extremely loud music coming from the room next door until 4 am, for which the manger gave us a discount as well as a free upgrade for our next stay. All we were told is we were next to the penthouse suite. In would have to say for moms traveling with their teenage daughters it probably wouldn't be my first choice again.

Review 63:The Thompson Hotel was extremely neat and modern in all aspects. The staff was friendly and attentive. It was in the perfect location within walking distance to Rogers Center where we were attending a concert. The surrounding neighborhood was friendly and upscale with many restaurants and shops nearby.

Review 64:Only one elevator was working and it broke down during the day and we had to use the service elevator. The evening when one elevator was back up, it was packed and we had to wait a couple of times until we could get on it.

Review 65:The staff was very nice and helpful. The rooftop bar and area is outstanding. The gym was great.

Review 66:The matress was too soft and both of us did not like it. Our room was also very close to elevators and we could hear every noise coming from there. A bit overpriced in general.

Review 67:The stuff, our room and facilities were great!

Review 68:We were at the end of the corridor, but if you are closer to the elevators I guess it can get pretty noisy (doors are not really soundproof) as people come and go at night (there's a club on the rooftop, one can't hear the music from the room though).

Review 69:Nice location, 1 minute walk from King St West King size bed Great linen Spacious room Nice attention for my girlfriend's birthday: the room was decorated with balloons and we were offered a bottle of wine The pool is small and can get packed on weekends, but nothing beats the view!

Review 70:Walls are not soundproof and we could hear every door open or close in the hall. In the mornings, we found it difficult to sleep in due to the lack of soundproofing.

Review 71:Great location! Friendly staff and fantastic rooftop lounge.

Review 72:Had to pay $38 to park car for a one night stay. Pool was very small and area around it. We had a horrible view from our balcony.

Review 73:Comfy beds, pillows, and duvet. Nice rooms!

Review 74:The ban on all drinks, including soft drinks around the pool (other than water) is very weird.

Review 75:Rooms have a nice modern feel, although not overly large. The staff very friendly and attentive, and the roof top bar and pool is great.

Review 76:The hotel held a large club-like event on the main level which made it difficult for hotel guests to access the elevators to their rooms. They did have a number of staff available to help direct guests.

Review 77:Clean, excellent service. Staff are just as beautiful as the hotel. Rooftop pool and bar with a breathtaking view and new gym facilities.

Review 78:The staff used the service lift, loudly, in the night. I was awoken every night by crashing bottles and trolleys

Review 79:Cool hotel with a loungey vibe for the beautiful people

Review 80:Hand prints pressed up on glass toward bathroom. Could tell people had fun the night before and nobody cared to clean the room. Celebrating a "baby moon", the last chance we have to get away before the baby comes. Attempted to go upstairs on rooftop and had some of the most rude people greet us, we didn't even stay we were so turned off at their attitudes and body language when they saw my wife was pregnant. All in all, horrible experience. Thanks for asking me to review it. Ill be sure to share with all my industry friends for their next trip up.

Review 81:There were great restaurants within walking distance.

Review 82:Noisy reception due to it being joint bar area. Busy bar at night with bouncers on doors. Roof pool bar always hired for private functions, therefore no access to hotel guests each evening from 5pm.

Review 83:The location

Review 84:One elevator not working. One for roof top party. Left only one elevator. Waited half hour for elevator with room to get on. Half the time you don't have the time to insert card in the slot and miss your floor. Had lots of rides where I did not to go. No ice machine for self serve. Have up on room service. Went down with my bucket to be told we will bring to your room. Warm drinks for quite a while till we got the ice. Booked room for 3 people guess what 2 of everything.

Review 85:The venue for the wedding were perfect roof top ceremony. Food excellent at cocktail and reception staff always pleasant and very accomodating. Checking in and out efficient. Always someone to help with door and luggages.

Review 86:the line up to the roof top... the security sending us back down despite us being a guest in the hotel. Also the parking ticket I was given when I handed my keys to valet park.

Review 87:from the room to the service of the staff very please

Review 88:It was a little bit pricey for the snacks in the room.

Review 89:This hotel is not only in the centre of downtown Toronto, but it also offers most amazing customer services, beautiful hotel, and amazing food. My friends and I booked this hotel for the long weekend, and didnt regret a penny spent for it. The pool is beautiful with its amazing view of downtown toronto! The staff is really really really nice, and we had no problems what so ever! Definitely will be checkin in soon! Would recommend it ! you will not regret it!

Review 90:Hotel had private functions that restricted us from pool aces, rooftop, and main hotel bar! we ended up at the Marriott hotel to see other friends staying there. Room was ok , bathroom door lock was broken. Would not stay there again.

Review 91:Elevators were annoying. They should offer water/coffee on checking in. Have complimentary water in your room daily. There wasn't anything festive for the long weekend or pride.

Review 92:What they have is great. It just was a very uptight vibe in the lobby. Could have been more inviting.

Review 93:Foyer looked untidy but there is works going on so I understand

Review 94:Location and staff

Review 95:Comfortable bed, stylish room, nice bath and TV. Cool café attached to hotel where we had free breakfast because of parking mix-up! Friendly staff.

Review 96:Incredibly noisy

Review 97:getting a bit worn out, needs to be refreshed

Review 98:atmosphere still nice

Review 99:staff beds room food at resturant

Review 100:Staff are always helpful and professional

Review 101:The entire staff that serviced us were wonderful. The room was clean and comfortable and the rooftop was amazing :)

Review 102:Elevator/ key. Pain in butt

Review 103:Roof top

Review 104:The room was very clean, modern design and the beds were amazing.

Review 105:The noise on Friday and Saturday night that went on until so late

Review 106:Our room was great, everything we wanted, on the front/end looking over the park

Review 107:loved the view from my hotel! everything was simply beautiful!

Review 108:Poor service

Review 109:The beds

Review 110:Diner table was not clean

Review 111:The Thompson was able to rectify the situation quickly that Booking.com created by not sending any reservation info to the hotel.

Review 112:On one morning, it took 3 hours before someone came to clean up the pool area from the night before and to bring towels.

Review 113:The rooftop pool

Review 114:Drinks at the hotel bar were way to over priced

Review 115:Very friendly staff. Rooms were clean. The roof top pool was beautifully.

Review 116:Beds were tiny. Room was getting a bit dated. Location was a bit out of the way.

Review 117:Staff was super nice and very helpful.

Review 118:Price??

Review 119:loved the location rooftop bar, pool, facilities, room. Could not fault it.

Review 120:Amazing views!!!!

Review 121:Bad service The rooftop bar reception girl( on the Lobby) is terrible, her service and attitude was so bad and unclear.

Review 122:The only issue we had was valet

Review 123:Very neat and clean. Room was very nice and comfortable. Rooftop bar and pool were great

Review 124:Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The food in the Diner was delish and not too expensive.

Review 125:Room and patio bar

Review 126:Nothing I liked everything.

Review 127:The staff was very helpful and attentive. Rooms were clean and modern.

Review 128:Diner food is really really not good

Review 129:Collete

Review 130:The staff was so friendly and the hotel had so much to offer we didn't even need to leave
