Reviews for D'Acosta Hotel Hacienda del Salitre

Review 1:I got very sick during my stay because the tap water wasn't drinking water, and there were no signs to say that (in fact they had drinking cups in the bathroom - what else would they be there for if not drinking the water?). My bill also went from CO$467,000 to $793,000 because there was a second person in the same room - almost double as much! The booking by mobile phone, for some reason, can only be made for one person. Despite the signs saying the thermal water pool was cleaned Monday and Thursday mornings so that guests can use the pool from mid day, they decided to empty the pool on Thursday afternoon instead. The thermal water pool is by far the main appeal of this area, and the only reason we stayed two nights instead of one. As a result we stayed a second night for no reason. There were hairs in the bed, which is never a nice experience. Fortunately, the staff were very friendly, and the hotel has a very nice style.

Review 2:Great facilities, staff and good location. The style of the hotel is great.

Review 3:The staff wasn't very good and it feels like the owners could invest some money in the facilities, it not enough with owning an historical place but investing in some things adds exclusivity

Review 4:Location and the fact that is an historical place

Review 5:We stayed in the most expensive room that has a large thermal bath. There is little ventilation and so we got a little steamed up now and then ! Fortunately the bedroom and sitting area is large enough to mitigate the problem but some kind of ventilation would improve the experience.

Review 6:Step back in time to the Spanish colonial era. Very well preserved hotel with wonderful thermal pool and landscaped grounds. Great location for visiting the area. A wonderful experience that we will definitely repeat.

Review 7:The hot spring pool was being repaired and did not finish being filled up during our stay. This was the main reason we booked this hotel, so it was extremely disappointing not to have been able to use it.

Review 8:Beautiful hotel with many historic details. The breakfast was incredible and extremely large.

Review 9:I didn't like the music that the staff played in the bar. I think that we were in Boyaca (Colombia) and not in the USA or UK so the music played should have been more according to the place.

Review 10:The swimming pool and the staff was very friendly. Also the place is beautiful.

Review 11:Nothing really

Review 12:Just everything you could wish for at a thermal spanish colonial style 500 year old hotel. The spa is excellent, service top of the shelf and amenities fabulous. It would be 100% if not for the location

Review 13:I loved almost everything about this hotel. You really do not need to leave the hotel. The hotel has its own swimming pool with hot spring water. When the water jets are pumping water (they have three 2-hour periods per day as the hot water is shared among all the hotels in Paipa), the water is lovely and hot. Pool-side bar and service is great!

Review 14:This is an old place so don't expect luxury.

Review 15:This perfectly restored historic building is the most beautiful and romantic I've ever stayed in. The open fire place was cozy to enjoy a wine in the evening. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Very quiet area and perfect to relax, hike a little to Paipa or to see the surroundings. Breakfast was very good too with tipical Tama and really anything you want. Take a quick swim in the hot thermal bath to wake up and nothing beats your day.

Review 16:Drunk gests trying to get in the hotel at 3-4 am, ringing and honking... it took the security gard 10 minutes to open the gate. They woke up the whole hotel.

Review 17:Colonial Atmosphere, location nice people and of course the eucaliptus tree in front of the hotel.

Review 18:The costumes of the staff. Is an interesting idea but are not antiques but "old" and so used... need to be changed more frequently or not use (better). Some of these costumes seems to be unconfortable for the people and really do not add value... The restaurant result a quite expensive.

Review 19:The facilities, conservation and disposition. The friendly staff and the background. The thermal water pool. Breakfast very good.

Review 20:The restaurant food in the evening could be improved considering the cost. The hotel offers too many choices and due to the lack of people staying midweek the food cannot be as fresh as it should be. Please sort this out as we love this hotel. If someone orders meat make sure it's a good cut and quality and don't try and hide it under lots of sauce. I burned myself in the thermal pool when the hot water came out of the frogs. I'm not blaming the hotel as I should not have been as stupid. Maybe they should put up a sign so people are aware of the dangers of sitting under the hot water when the frogs are filling up the pool. It doesn't feel that hot at the time but believe me it's easy to get burned if you don't take care.

Review 21:Staff we're very friendly and eager to help and sort out any problems that we had. Love the setting of the hotel and the hotel itself is a beautiful historic building that takes you back in time. The thermal bath is therapeutic and relaxing. Mini bar costs were reasonably and the hotel makes excellent fruit juices. The breakfast was of a high standard.

Review 22:LA TRANQUILIDAD

Review 23:La piscinita termal privada

Review 24:Beetles coming out of the pipes.

Review 25:Super cool location with a lot of history. Rooms are amazing with hot springs water piped in. Restaurant was great.

Review 26:Staff was very nice ...especially one of the servers at the restaurant

Review 27:Rustic and charming

Review 28:Very quiet

Review 29:The pool's temperature

Review 30:The food, the quitness, the kindness

Review 31:I wish we would have been warned that the thermal-waters pool was closed most of Monday to be cleaned. Also, there was a strong moldy smell in some of the downstairs rooms, so we chose to stay upstairs..

Review 32:The historic setting and preservation of amazing hacienda buildings, the beautiful thermal pool with filtered waters, the excellent breakfasts that were included in our plan, the amicable, personal attention and great staff, the quiet and beautiful country-side.

Review 33:The average quality of restaurant food does not justify its high price Suites are rather dark and in need of some maintenance (cracked tiles in the bathroom)

Review 34:The hot spring pool Breakfast on the terrace The steam room An evening drink in front of the fire in the bar Standard rooms are light, airy and cosy

Review 35:Wife was a little uncomfortable with the antique accommodations which were somewhat rustic. The bathroom was a little crude, but after all the building is two centuries old so you don't stay there for modern amenities.

Review 36:Staff service was the best I've ever had at a hotel. Restaurant was excellent. Pool was fed by a warm natural mineral spring which was very relaxing. Views were like paintings.

Review 37:The food in the restaurant is not very good. The thermal pool isbeautiful but not cleaned enough. It was slimy with green mould; it wascleaned overnight but we left that day. The rooms are not very clean orwell maintained. We had the most expensive suites (Lanceros and Bolivar)and light bulbs were missing plus bathrooms were dirty. The rooms reallyneed to be repaired and cleaned to attract tourists.

Review 38:The hacienda is beautiful and has a wonderful history.
