Reviews for Irotama Resort

Review 1:The fact that we couldn't sleep 2 of our 6 nights because of noise. One night there was live music until 2am. Another we were awoken by some sort of insecticide spraying at 3am.

Review 2:The pool.

Review 3:Lots of construction around the hotel have made entrance and exit a real nightmare. The staff service and attitude towards the tourist leaves a lot to be desired. We were surprised how bad it became, starting with reception staff, all the way to the waiters and the person at the gym who just watched the TV while people excersided.

Review 4:Irotama has always been nice, you have nature and animals around you everywhere you go. Rooms are clean and conviniently located in front of the beach.

Review 5:The coffee is not good and the wrist band you have to wear while you stay

Review 6:The food was great specially at Luraco restaurant, fresh sea food delicious! Is a resort well located, nice beach, tons of activities, a bit old villas but very comfortable and the bed is big and great! We stayed 4 days and we enjoyed a lot

Review 7:Noise. For instance people brought their own music equipment to the pool. Staff should enforce rules on everyone and think about everyone's wellbeing

Review 8:We really enjoyed the night we had here, the staff could not be more helpful. Our little bungalow was only about 3_ meters from the beach and it was Sunday into Monday so the place was quiet and super peaceful (apart from the odd plane as the airport is only a few km's away, but you very rarely notice). Highly recommended if you are looking for peace and quiet away from the city.

Review 9:The pictures are totally photoshop. The sand is not white. We were going to go to the beach and it got crowded with over 100 locals even though it says irotama property. Not impressed at all. I will not go back.

Review 10:The breakfast is the best!!

Review 11:I found the bed was a little to hard. I had trouble getting internet connection. The front desk couldn't take my credit card or debit card to check-out and I had to go to a cash machine to pay the bill. Obviously my card was OK, the cash machine accepted!

Review 12:Staff at the bar were very friendly. Food was good. The Cabanas are great for families.

Review 13:I didn't have any bad experiences at all. What a hotel!

Review 14:We loved how green it is, there are trees, birds, iguanas and little animals everywhere, the beach is clean, nice and quiet and it was just steps away from our villa. The staff is the friendliest and kindest people ever. They have shows / activities every night, we loved the folkloric dance show.

Review 15:Mixed security, as the beach is public. At times too many sellers on the beach and within the hotel areas

Review 16:My break with my family, the sea, sand and service. The hotel team are really wonderful and nothing was a problem.

Review 17:The bungalows

Review 18:The beaches, the scenery, the staff are fantastic. Accommodations were great except the bungalows, they are too closed together and they were old. We spent a night at one of the bungalows and asked to be moved to one of the hotel buildings in the compound, which they gladly did at no charge, and those accommodations were very nice. Overall a good experience, if you are staying in Santa Marta I recommend the Irotama.

Review 19:the location is next to the airport and coal port , which clearly creates a very contaminated area to rest. the property has a very poor access road making this difficult to enter.

Review 20:nothing

Review 21:Looks like a factory. You are not considered as a customer, by the staff who doen't look really motivated (reception, buffet restaurant and coco bar). Complexity of the organisation. Difficult to know where are the services (restaurants, reception) and which one are opened. Hotel more adapted for colombians people rather than foreigners.

Review 22:Quality of room even if building is not recent. Location on the beach. Quiet at night. Excellent free spa (sauna, turk bath, jaccuzy). Shuttle to the airport.

Review 23:The ocean is a bit dirty...seemed to have had a coal spill or something about a year ago and the water is still contaminated. The food at the resort is decent at best with the only exception being breakfast

Review 24:Great overall feel the pool and the service is excellent.

Review 25:400 hundred dollars a night room with roaches. Not acceptable And the service terrible and the food not good either

Review 26:nice view

Review 27:Hotel did not have my booking.com reservation. Had to book another room on the spot.

Review 28:Check out a las 12. Demasiado costo el consumo.

Review 29:Hotel bonito y familiar

Review 30:The Internet was very bad they don't have very good signal.

Review 31:The beach ,pool ,breakfast.

Review 32:TV connection very poor

Review 33:the food was horrible for the price

Review 34:great beach area

Review 35:They do everything to make you enjoy your holidays. It's a beautiful place surrounded by nature.

Review 36:Servicio de restaurante en luruaco muy demorado

Review 37:The only thing was at check out we they asked up for our keys (plastic card ones) and we could only find one of them. They were going to charge us 8,000 pesos for it so we literally dug through our entire luggage (lots for a famiy) and did find it. I just thought it was unusual because most hotels don't even ask for them. Not a big deal but I'm cheap, so....

Review 38:Everything!! The staff, the service, the room (large!), the pools, the beach, the smiles from everyone, THE FOOD, even the prices for the food were very reasonable (I was surprised especially for the quality). The drivers who tood us from and to the airport (for free by the way) and to downtown Santa Marta (free too) were extremely courteous and very helpful with all our kids/baby stuff. All in all I was very surprised by Santa Marta but ESPECIALLY by this resort. I read many review about Irotama as well as MANY others and decided on this one. If we make it back to Santa Marta (maybe in May or June) we would definitely stay here again, and I am not the type of traveler that stays in the same place twice. For a family with a 3 year old and a 5 month old, my wife and I loved Irotama.

Review 39:I was charged lots more than I agree in my booking but the fault seems to be with bookings.com, I could have booked direct with the hotel but it requires a deposit by bank transfer which is expensive from the UK. the wi-fi was intermittent and unreliable but when I left they were improving it

Review 40:Irotama del mar was comfortable,we eat at the buffet restaurant which was good when you have young children, staff there were helpful throughout our stay

Review 41:No free Wifi

Review 42:Very good staff, always helping and making you feel welcome. Thanks to Diana at the buffet, your smile during breakfast made my day! Nice pool, beautiful beach!

Review 43:We didn't like the food at all, there are some restaurants at the hotel, but we didn't find any of them good at all. Luckily we were not in the all inclusive system!

Review 44:The hotel is very big, there are some kind of accommodations, but the location is great, right at the beach, with palm trees and trees to give you shadow when you are at the beach. The food is the thing we didn't like. The room was nice, in fact we stayed at a villa, with 2 rooms, so we had space at ease. I found some cockroaches (cucarachas) in the room, Maybe because of the heat and the vegetation around the building, but but even so, they should put insecticide in place with frequency! The bed was great, huge, very comfy!

Review 45:The hotel needs urgent renovation. The lobby, rooms and other areas haven't been touched in 20 years. For more than 600 usd a night you expect luxury and great service but that's not the case.

Review 46:The beds were terrible, it was so uncomfortable that I needed to getmassages to work out the pain. On the last night they booked a party bythe pool with live music. I have been to quieter rock concerts, itlasted until 2 am. Not even an apology was given, the manager whenchecking out was too busy to talk with me. I have travelled extensivelyand have never seen anything like this. I was very disappointed.

Review 47:The Staff was very nice and helpful. Very few spoke English. The commonareas were clean and well kept. The beach was very nice and the wholeresort was very safe and secure.

Review 48:The hotel has been around for a while now, and while the newer venues such as the towers and the corresponding apartments in them are probably much more modern and up to current stylings, the older room offerings like the villas in which we stayed have been barely kept up to date with the age clearly showing. Most noticibly in the bathrooms that were cramped, old and look like they have not been given a decent remodel in years.

Review 49:Irotama has always beena very welcoming resort loacation, it is well suited for family travel as it offers all the opportunities that families need to enjoy a beachside vacation. activities for the kids and adults alike. The setting is lovely and the surroundings and grounds of the hotel are really well kept and beautiful.

Review 50:Old facilities, rooms and bathrooms. Food in restaurants is not good. Italian taste like Caribbean, all day dining is always the same, with not much consideration to vegetarians. Staff don't speak much English. For sure it is not a 5 star!!!

Review 51:the beach was nice and the main pool was OK. Night activities were good. Staff were polite.

Review 52:Everything was excellent.

Review 53:Meals (quality and price)

Review 54:Bedroom confort Locations (beach access, swimming pools)
