Reviews for Edward Village North York

Review 1:Internet booking said a breakfast voucher would be given although we knew the restaurant was closed for renos. We thought the voucher would be good at a nearby restaurant. Oh well.

Review 2:Quiet room, slept really well. Spacious room with refrigerator and microwave.

Review 3:Run down hotel... needs some renovations. Badthroom.. dirty tiles. Old shower , outdated plumbing fixtures... . dirty floors... room carpet needs cleaning. Furniture needs changing ...

Review 4:Easy access from the 401. Large rooms.. comfortable beds

Review 5:Filthy carpets.....dirty / damaged / old/ everywhere.... Look at the pics!... You will see.... They need to strip down this building and make it new again.... Perfect place to make a set of "Walking Dead" episode.... ;)

Review 6:Staff! Very nice and friendly!!

Review 7:Nothing

Review 8:Location, room is good but not every day clean room, but when I said began to clean my room every day! Internet in room is very slowly! But in Lobby normal! I was waiting when open this hotel, because the price and room and location for me is very nice

Review 9:1. 1. The hotel was under renovation (including dirt of a building) when we asked the reception Did you Under construction"? The answer was no. 2. The room we got was troubled the shower curtain in the bathroom was broken, and there were signs of spatula room. The air conditioner was noisy and despite complaining about the noise the maintenance man said it all in every room. 3.we have only one cabin on the side of the bed and on the other side the lamp was on floor. 4. Breakfast was what very bad them Korasonim dried for two days

Review 10:We didn't like anything

Review 11:Roof door had animal turds in it... Also who lets guests access to theroof?? Couldn't figure out the heater/AC... ,Staff didn'tknow how to work it either No hair dryer available at all Coffee makerdidnt work on any outlets Alarm clock had wrong time and could notcorrect it Was under renovations too and work went on above our room

Review 12:Got toothbrush and paste when asked

Review 13:Bit disorganized room( fridge being next to the bed but microwave and coffee maker in the "kitchen" area. Took very long to get hot water from the tap and the wifi was very weak. Elevators are quite old and the lobby furniture looks cheap and oldfashioned. Price was bit high for just one night

Review 14:pillows nice and fluffy, nice size king bed, good layout of the room and nice big windows, there was no bad smell at all and parking lot is big

Review 15:shabby decrepid hotel. Pool, gym permanently closed. Dirty entrance, common areas (lobby, elevators and hallways) in need of serious cleaning and repair. Elevator is from the Twilight Zone!

Review 16:Inside the room was accetable

Review 17:The key of the door wasn't working properly so an attendant had to go up with me every time in order to open it. The building seems quite old but when you're inside the room its all new and renovated.

Review 18:I liked how tidy and clean the room is. Spacious too with everything you need available like microwave, tea/coffee, cups, fridge, towels, soaps, and shampoo.

Review 19:Hallways were not clean and the carpets looked like the needed major cleaning. No breakfast or gym as advertised. The trash in hallways and outside are not frequently checked. Saw old couches and chairs sitting there for entire day

Review 20:Rooms were clean and decent.

Review 21:took way to long to cheek in and way too long to check out!!!!

Review 22:Location

Review 23:It's outdated, need furniture update and painting. The A/C did not work.

Review 24:good staff service and smile. Clean room.

Review 25:The hotel entrance was dirty and I also witness an argument between the receptionist and a guest. The room was ok no bugs or dust but the hall way has a funny smell. It was a great price considering that it was Christmas time. But I would definitely not stay there again.

Review 26:Could not make long distance calls. The restaurant was only open for a few hours and even the staff did not know the hours of operation.

Review 27:The location and price were perfect for me.

Review 28:Power failure due to ice storm, totally disorganized in dealing with the situation. Did not have a flashlight to use in the dark room, to be able to get around.

Review 29:Location.

Review 30:Had to use this place because of power outage in Toronto but was very disappointed. Called front desk and was told they were coming but never came. The bed sheets were not changed etc.Did not like my stay there.

Review 31:Closeness to Fairview mall Toronto and accessibility to transportation.

Review 32:I don't recommend this hotel full stop due to management/owners. Manager who owns the hotel and runs the night shift is rude and is shouting at everyone. He was shouting down the phone at someone telling them off (being unable to understand them as his English was poor) He hung up on them in front of me when the person on the phone was half way through conversation. He also when he came off the phone starting shouting at me for asking a very basic question he was unable to understand. Very UN-polite of him! Hotel facilities not good (not for kids this place) Can get better value for money elsewhere

Review 33:Hotel had pretty nice staff (excluding the rude managers/owners)

Review 34:The accomodations were very bare-bones. THe pool had no floatation devices, which is a real impediment to enjoying the facilities when your children are pre-swimmers. Had I known this, I would have stayed somewhere else. The restaurant was overpriced and decidely down-market.

Review 35:The staff were helpful and friendly. The price was reasonable.

Review 36:the hallway wasn't vacuumed until the second day we were there and was noticeably dirty. The walls were peeling (paint) and the bathroom was needing some TLC as well.

Review 37:the beds where clean.

Review 38:It has to invest more on cleanness of general spaces and corridors.Needs to be repainted.

Review 39:Overall is ok,is an economy hotel and crowd, full of people from Chinesetours and other similar events. Rooms are big enough and is a quitehotel. Internal decoration of rooms is good.

Review 40:Pretty much everything. This is a very poorly maintained hotel, in my opinion. Budget hotels are fine, as long as they are clean. Walking past large red stained pools of "something" on floor 4 is both disturbing and unacceptable.

Review 41:Its location.

Review 42:no breakfast buffet in morning. halls were dirty no bench for smoking area hot tub steps need grips almost fell

Review 43:bed comfortable room adequate pool okay

Review 44:it was changed what it was supposed to be and what they did, be careful of Booking.com promises and this hotel too, you have to have a good look by yourself.

Review 45:Any hotel which can deliver a good strong wifi signal will encourage and impress guests. The Days Inn at Yorkland has a very shoddy service like most hotels. It would be a welcomed boost to their marketing if they made a significant improvement in this area.

Review 46:The front desk staff was polite and hellpful

Review 47:From the over pouring garbage cans outside the front door to the smell of decaying fish permeating the lobby. WHAT A HOLE The elevators and carpets are filthy and the hallways don't smell a lot better than the front entrance even without the restaraunt. They had made an attempt at the room by trying to renovate the bathroom but the plaster was peeling of the wall' their was filth up the wall between shower and toilet. What it was didn't care to guess!! Bed comfy if you don't mind a bedspread that look like it is 20 years old . Left at 8:30 am, won't even consider eating breatfast downstairs as the fish smell had to have gotten into everything. My husband had tried to go to the gym to find one piece of equipment that he told front desk he got more of a work out just try to put back together, everyone at the desk burst out laughing including other guests. The real joke is everyone knows the hotel is a joke. Last insult have to top toe around a thousand cigarette butts at front entrance to get to car DISGUSTING !!!!!!!!!!!!

Review 48:the front desk staff polite to point of apolegeti even you sense they realize the place is a dump!!!

Review 49:The room they gave me had a green leafy substance left from a previous guest on the air conditioning unit in the room. Shower head was broken and walls had been sprayed with some kind of liquid leaving drip marks. They moved me to another room which was much better. I called down to the front desk to arrange to stay for a 3rd night and spoke to a manager named Keith. For whatever reason Keith could not talk and said he would call me back. Keith did not call me back so I went down to the front desk in person. There were signs posted to shower before using the pool however the shower in the basement beside the pool did not work.

Review 50:Close to my destination

Review 51:I don't think the price for the location of the hotel was great. Could have been priced better since it was quite an inconvenience to get to downtown Toronto. I didn't much care for the eating options that the hotel had. The Asian cuisine did not look appetizing and the Pizza that was advertised on the key card didn't live up to expectations. Had experienced much better room service in other hotels.

Review 52:The staff was courteous and friendly. The room itself was cleaned and stocked appropriately. I appreciated having simple appliances such as the microwave and mini fridge. Most memorable is the staff stocking more than one regular coffee package which I don't often find in some hotels. The pool and sauna were very relaxing, quiet and enjoyable. Keep it up!

Review 53:Breakfast facilities (although I think we were there with a tour). Poor lighting in bathroom and main room as well.

Review 54:Easy access from the 401. Large room with king sized bed.

Review 55:The restaurant was horrible. Wasn't even able to get a couple of coffees. The front desk staff were cold and answered the telephones over and over while serving us. Not a thank you was heard or a smile on their faces.

Review 56:I liked the King size bed

Review 57:It's close to both the highway and the subway without the price of being downtown. There are many restaurants and places to visit that are close by or accessible by transit.

Review 58:The hotel inside is having a lot of problems. The elevator is old and dirty. The carpet is dirty too. Looks like something cannot remove. Doesn't feel comfortable while we walk in. This hotel is not a three stars hotel. I don't think this price is worth to book a two stars quality hotel. I would recommend this hotel for single travel but not a group or couple.

Review 59:I want to visit Markham and Toronto. This location is very convenient to drive and save time. The room is clean: the bathroom and bed sheet.

Review 60:This hotel was below par, in so many ways. The plumbing was awful, and not very strong. There was no fresh air, as the windows could not be opened. The doors made tons of noise when they were closed, and the guests were loud and obnoxious.

Review 61:I appreciated being able to move to another room, that helped. Also, the housekeeper on the floor that I moved to was extremely nice, and sensitive to my needs. She was great!

Review 62:1) Parking lot and entrance dirty 2) lack of assistance with luggage to the elevator and the room or acompanying the guest to the room to orientate the guest on the features; eg the ac turned on, etc.

Review 63:the quality of the room and very clean without the smell of smoke

Review 64:Breakfast was not included. The checkout line was long. The ice machine was broken. The hotel charged $5 for the parking.

Review 65:The hotel is located near a shopping mall and convenient for travelers who have cars. The room is clean. This is important for me.

Review 66:Lobby area and elevators very dirty. Windows very dirty. Obvious that noone is cleaning on daily basis. Soda cans and cigarette butts in frontof entrance and landscaping not attractive. First impression is notfavorable... Will not return

Review 67:Rooms Ok but maid service marginal

Review 68:The pool had a ring around it - like a bathtub ring also the pool needed new tiles as some were chipped

Review 69:We booked two rooms and were pleased to get adjoining rooms. Rooms were spacious & clean

Review 70:Dirty old and smells old. NO AC / it was not working, I asked front desk about it, he told me maintenance will have to fix it, maintenance never showed up. I mentioned it to the same customer clerk at front desk in the morning at 6 am, and upon check out, didn't care at all. When I book hotel rooms, I EXPECT AC!!!

Review 71:Not much

Review 72:Parking wasn't expensive but it was extra. There was no ice on our floor. The property was a bit tired. I wouldn't go there to impress anyone, but for an overnight in the city at that location it was very good. The planters out the front window were full of cigarette butts and tash.

Review 73:It was handy to the Alevio medical clinic where I had a procedure done that day.It was quiet for a good rest afterwards.

Review 74:The breakfast is a joke, can't even get a cup of coffee to go. More variety at resturant, not everyone like Chinese. Greater variety for take out, bedside table lighting is poor. can't read in bed.

Review 75:The rooms were great. staff very nice

Review 76:Long overdue renovations that are now in progress; paid parking; only 2luggage carts for a very large hotel

Review 77:Plentiful parking; courteous staff; rapid response to maintenance issuewith refrigerator and wall ac unit

Review 78:It smelled bad. There was trash in our hallway for a long time. It advertised as cable and it really wasn't. There was no microwave in our room. Breakfast was said to come with our room rate. I had some difficulty being able to get breakfast for my family and after matter was solved the "breakfast" was not fit for a dog. Pastry was hard. We were not informed about the use of an available microwave or butter. The customer service for breakfast was not polite to us at all. I never had such service with Days Hotel in the U.S. but based off our stay at the Toronto Canada location we wound up cutting our Canada trip short. We stayed only one day. We didn't even bother to stay to see the sites. We were very sad and disappointed. :(

Review 79:The pillows were soft. The size of pool was nice.

Review 80:It was not conveniently located unless you have your own transport.

Review 81:It was close to an elderly relative that we wanted to visit. The staffprinted google directions for wherever we needed to go.

Review 82:facility is outdated . the hotel need renovation ASAP. it's old hotel that it looks like they don't want to renew it. The hotel is very far from the subway and there is no useful transportation in between . either walk 20 minutes or take taxi.

Review 83:the value for money was good. rooms are clean and they keep them clean ll the time .

Review 84:Some of the staff could barely speak English, making it difficult to request service.

Review 85:Value for money. Location is convienient if you are familiar with the city of Toronto. Great hotel for sports teams

Review 86:bugs, dust mites, Air condition did not work 1st night so we had to change the room 2nd night, elevator door opened before it reached to the level.

Review 87:price

Review 88:The pool wasnt bad but definitely Needs some updating. It says on bookings.com that theyre are cots available which in fact theyre arnt. This wasnt a bad factor but should be updated.

Review 89:The rooms were modern and clean. Beds were comfy. Overall had a great stay. Give it a 8/10.

Review 90:Pool area could have been cleaner....dirty towels were not removed everyday.

Review 91:Convenience of amenities. Hotel had a pool and restaurant. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean.

Review 92:the smell in the hallways the carpets in the hallways and the elevators not clean ,the buttons are disgusting !!

Review 93:the room was okay,clean,but i had a rush on my neck,from what i don't know?

Review 94:I have been staying here for years, and slowly the hotel has been falling apart. It is in major need of repairs, the pool, carpeting through out, ice machines and various other things. I do not think I will stay at this hotel any more there are others that are close by and cheaper as well.

Review 95:I like the fact that it is within walking distance of the mall and the subway system.

Review 96:the windows are so large which is good but I don't think that they open..(I didn't ask the staff about it)..so u have to depend on the A.C

Review 97:generally good, quiet, relaxing hotel

Review 98:Had a great room, but it had bizarre lighting; There were no overhead lights, and all the lamps faced downward, making it feel always dark. The hallways carpets were badly stained.

Review 99:I really was very impressed with the breakfast and it would be nice if there was a rest. that was open so you could eat dinner there and not have to go back out once you have arrived.

Review 100:i liked the location and the fact the it was inexpensive. Also, I have checked in early and really appreciated it after a long drive.

Review 101:The bathroom was a little small and the lights flickered. The business center computer and printer are ancient and difficult to work with. If you need to print out directions or tickets, try to do it before you leave for your trip.

Review 102:The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel has a nice atmosphere, cheap parking and the free wifi worked well. The hotel was in a good area as well, within easy walking distance to Don Mills Subway Station. Be aware that the ride into downtown takes about an hour from this outer subway station.

Review 103:1.better to have better internet acess system. 2.Would be better to ask to cusomers whether they are on the membership

Review 104:Got a pretty valued room with decent price

Review 105:Waited for 10-15 mins for check out, no one was at desk. Although staff are very friendly!

Review 106:Room was clean, cozy and comfortable. Good location, decent price. Quiet stay.

Review 107:Decor dated, rugs worn. Bathroom adequate, but certainly could use some sprucing up.

Review 108:Location. It was 5 minutes from both my meeting sites. Ease of access to 401/404 was excellent.

Review 109:The entire building needs air movement. Major repair of the air circulation is needed. There was no fan or ventilation in the bathroom and the hallways were stuffy as well. Since windows do not open in the room, it is necessary to use the fan/heater/ac, but this still does not "freshen" the bathroom. The chair in the lobby are quite "off-putting". The pink chairs in particular look very dirty and the patterned chairs do to -even though I am sure they are clean, they need to be replaced.

Review 110:The $5 for a full day of parking is a bargain in the GTA. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Our room with 2 queen-sized beds was a good size and the bathroom was a good size too. The area is quiet despite being near the 401. The management met my request for a room far from elevators and ice machines. The safe box in the room and coffee/tea facilities were appreciated.

Review 111:hockey team came late at night and I had to call reception to get them to be quite at 1 am

Review 112:Preisleistungsverhaeltnis war sehr gut. Reception acted right away to a complain about the noisyness in our next door room

Review 113:What I didn't like was the housekeeping woman was rude not friendlyat all and she was reminded to put tea cups and water glasses everydayotherwise she never put them herself. Staff at the reception had no ideaabout buses which stopped right infront of their hotel. I think it isnecessary to know the local info so that guests coming to stay wantssome directions they can help them right away.

Review 114:I like the comfortable atmosphere all over the hotel. I read quite fewnegative reviews but didn't experience an such thing.Stayed therefor 10 days with my husband 2 girls and a son aged 1year. Location wasgood near to fairview mall it was 15mins walk but if you have a baby andyou are pushing a pram or stroller it takes around 20mins to reachfairview mall. Swimming pool and gym were awesome.Over all experiencewas good and if required will stay there again.

Review 115:We checked in and went to the room. Along the way the hall was litteredwith dirty laundry at about 3:10 pm. We left the hotel and returnedabout 6 hours later. The laundry still littered the hall way. I thoughtthat this was the most un professional and dirty hotel that I have everbeen in. I travel a lot and I have stayed in many hotels around theworld. This was perhaps the worst I have ever been in by far. We weretold that there was cable and Internet in the rooms. That was not thecase. The employee at the front desk told me that it must be my computerthat was not working or some nonsense about a fire wall. I happen tohave the latest I-pad so I doubt it was my computer. There just was nowifi service. I would never stay in this hotel again even if you gave methe room for free. What I should have done was complain but I just didnot want to waste my time.

Review 116:Breakfast which was very poor, most of the days we didn’t go forbreakfast. Very weak or not available wireless Internet in the rooms.

Review 117:Large shopping mall in the area

Review 118:My reservation included complimentary breakfast which was very very poorjust corwasoon and orange or apple juice with butter and jam no eggs noyoughart no cheese or hot milk very bad so most of the days wedidin't go for breakfast. also there should be a free wifi all over the hotel which was just a dream the day we arrived the receptionist informed us that the internet has just had a problem before we come and it will not be available in the rooms only the lobby and the problem will be fixed the next day which didn't happen till we checked out and this was the biggest problem for us as it was a business trip so we were able to arrange our schedules so most of the days passed with very bad arrangment we lost too long time useless . the hotel has a bus station in front of it but the frequency of the bus was every 45 minuts and only work till 7 or 8 pm also it was only one bus track which arrive to the hotel so we had to take a taxi in leaving and returning to the hotel which was very expensive for us. our room was in the fifth floor , while we were waiting the lift we were smelling very bad odour (odour of rabbish) i think they collect the rooms rabbish and didin't get rid of them every day also the room service collect the rubbish of the rooms and the dirty sheets in the cooridor till the next day which was very bad view. lastly the staff were very cold in dealing with the guest complains and not helpful at all .

Review 119:The room is really big with two double queen beds and comfortable withlarge lcd tv and free phone calls and frigde and ac also has a lift anda big lobby

Review 120:. Dirty all through.first entry into elevator from reception was dirty.trash bags.gabbages was left in lobby/hallway for 3days. Requested removal of dirt and no cleaning done. Lobby also smells . The hotel could only burn incense at hallways...terrible experience

Review 121:Liked Nothing.

Review 122:Soiled carpets in hallways. Internet service was down. Dirty linen wasleft piled in bundles in the hallway of the floor I was staying on.This hotel is rated at 3 1/2 stars. I feel it does not deservethis rating. I've stayed at a 3-star hotel that is much cleanerand far nicer.

Review 123:Proximity to public transit. Pool and hot tub.

Review 124:The hallways were piled with dirty bedding that we had to walk around, they were there when we checked in and still there the next day. We went for the free breakfast but didn't choose to eat the cheap pastries & watered down juice.

Review 125:The front desk staff were beyond courteous. The price was right. The pool, hot tub and sauna were all in great condition, very warm and enjoyable. The beds were very comfortable and each bed had 4 big pillows.

Review 126:Breakfast lacked presentation and the muffins/croissants were stale. I didn't eat there on my second day due to the first impression Dirty linens and garbage stayed in the hallway floor until late in the day.

Review 127:great bed and pillows. Nice big window with lots of light. Courteous housekeeping staff brought a corkscrew from her car when I asked for one and cleaning staff helped me with closing the clasp on my necklace.

Review 128:Internet connection inside room was pathetic, had to sit in lobby for good reception. Gym weight lifting machines were broken.

Review 129:Shuttle service to nearest subway station. Threadmill room, swimming pool were good.

Review 130:The free breakfast was a little skimpy (danish, muffin, pastry, cereal, coffee & juice)

Review 131:Price was good, close to shopping major highways and subway Pool &hot tub were good

Review 132:This hotel is very run-down and "tired". Stinking of cigarette smoke throughout even though I had a non-smoking room. Confused parking arrangements as info for the paid parking is not identified on the parking machines as reduced for hotel guests. I would be very reluctant to stay there again.

Review 133:good location for this business trip; good value for the cost considering Toronto hotel rates. Lots of parking available. Large shopping mall and lots of restaurants in the area-pretty ordinary though-not gourmet.

Review 134:Basic furniture, would need more storage space if staying longer, closet tiny

Review 135:Shower, comfortable bed, quiet room, flat sceen tv, free wifi, easy access to electrical outlets in lamp base, Smart Chair, good parking (location and price), continental breakfast, excellent coffee maker

Review 136:The continental breakfast is really poor! The hotel has basic cleaningand very average maintenance. It's a business hotel so nothing muchto do around.

Review 137:Staff were very nice and helpful. Iron table and coffee machine areprovided in the room 10 min walk from the station. Big shopping centernear the station

Review 138:There was a radiator in the room controlled by a thermostat on the wall however the room never got warm despite setting the temperature warmer.

Review 139:The hotel was quite. Rooms came with a fridge.

Review 140:The internet (wifi) was quite inadequate; connection was weak, slow, and sporadic, even in the lobby, in the evening (better early morning).

Review 141:It was much less than comparable hotels nearer downtown because of a big convention

Review 142:felt dirty at times. Simple things like the carpet is buckeling when you get off the elevator. This makes you think the carpet is old and given it is brown you think it is dirty.

Review 143:decorations and decor

Review 144:The breakfast was VERY basic. Just a tea / coffee and corn-flex, muffin was not even enough for both of us, its a 3 star place after all

Review 145:King bed very comfortable, location OK, Staff friendly hard working
