Reviews for Chelsea Hotel Toronto
Review 1:Corner room was chilly - heater not that efficient Unventilated bathroom
Review 2:Room was large with 3 double beds. Cleanliness and maid service excellent. Helpful staff
Review 3:1.Washroom without ventilation 2. Unadjustable shower tap water, it overflows. It's a wastage of natural resource to see flowing 25 gallons of water per person. It's something you should be working on.
Review 4:Location, friendly staff
Review 5:Hard to control temperature in the room (room was very hot). Bathroom is very cramped, choice of T.V. stations seemed limited.
Review 6:Great location, friendly staff.
Review 7:Family pool was closed and was told that we could use adult only pool but no time was told to us than when me and my kids got to the pool we were told we couldn't be there. No fridge in rooms.
Review 8:We were very disappointed seeing this hotel we picked for the kids pool and when we booked it said nothing about it being closed and then we arrived it was closed, my kids were upset, also the tv wasn't working at all
Review 9:Staff did not seem to care about anything. The hotel is OK but it is getting dated and while it was fine for the price I don't know that I would stay there again.
Review 10:Don't trust the lowest rate guarantee they have on their website - I found a lower rate and informed them but they didn't seem to care.
Review 11:Overall a very comfortable and pleasant stay.
Review 12:The first time when he came to the hotel we had a nicer room this time they gave us a room that was not of what we expected. Please clean and presentable but very small.
Review 13:The fact that the staff was very helpful when I had problem with the tap water. Made it a tradition in our family to come at least once or twice a year because my children enjoyed their stay.
Review 14:The windows let in all the street noise. The room was overpriced for the value received (small room and poor sleep).
Review 15:The staff did their best to make it a comfortable stay. The location is excellent.
Review 16:Check in is long, not enough staff. If there is a problem with your key, you have to wait in the check in line again. The pool and slide were out of commission the whole time we were there. Partly due to a malfunction, partly because of a broken window.
Review 17:Long check in and check out line ups. Also, found a pair of socks in the room that did not belong to us so it obviously hadn't been cleaned as well as it should have been. Bedside table a bit dusty. Bathrooms could use some renovations.
Review 18:The location and the price. Staff were very professional.
Review 19:That parking is $30.00 a night
Review 20:I liked the location of the hotel near lots of stories and car rental place. Nice gym and updated machines(ellipticals, treadmills)
Review 21:The amenities like swimming pool on the first floor were mostly for kids, and the upstairs pool was closed for renovation. The next time you go make sure its not on maintenance.
Review 22:The location was amazing, the rooms were clean and the hotel is very quite!
Review 23:The hotel seemed old. The shower had mildew stains.
Review 24:The bed was comfortable. The location is great if you want to be right in the heart of downtown Toronto.
Review 25:Had a loud fan in bathroom that didn't turn off. Told staff but no fix available. We solved it by just shutting he door. Cost for parking.
Review 26:Kids check in and toys were great. Location was just what we were after. staff were pleasant.
Review 27:Found your buffet restaurant very pricey - and the food was not very good.
Review 28:The beds were very comfortable, the location was good and the staff very pleasant.
Review 29:Parking was a pain, very tight quarters, slightly expensive for overnight parking. Vending machines never worked to get water late at night, and with nothing open it forced me to go out and buy from a store. Wish the room had a mini fridge. While it was great to have free WiFi, it was quite a pain to get connected and actually use it.
Review 30:Great Location, Price for the room was very reasonable. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Review 31:The pool area needs some updating, maybe a bit bigger
Review 32:The staff very helpful especially the door and valet men helped us so much when our vehicle wouldn't start
Review 33:line up for check in at least 45 minute waiting time, inflexible and not committed staff, noisy, chaotic, kids in bathing suits in lobby, internet free but far too slow
Review 34:location
Review 35:Room was cold. Elevators were not all working which caused line ups. More staff at reception would have also been good since there were very long line ups there as well.
Review 36:Food was good, more variety would be helpful.
Review 37:We haven't bad experience with staff, everything was OK, they were gently and kind with us.
Review 38:Comfortable and clean room. The hotel was very close to museums and greyhound bus station.
Review 39:We ordered the kids pancake for one of my teens. My son wasn't feeling well and didn't want a full plate of pancakes. His order consisted of two small pancakes and a piece of bacon for $7.95. The cashier said we shouldn't have ordered the kids pancakes if they were for someone over 12 years of age, but in fact the portion size was much smaller than the regular pancake meal for $2 more. As I was paying over $60 for a self serve breakfast for four I was miffed as it made me feel like I was "trying to get away with something." I expect hotel food to be more expensive than the norm but being made to look cheap in front of my children was not acceptable.
Review 40:location location location
Review 41:When I check in and check out, there were a lot of people and also there were only two desks so it took much time. The facility was not really good, there were no slippers and too small.
Review 42:The location was really good.
Review 43:There were no wine glasses in the room. We only had plastic cups and paper coffee cups.
Review 44:The bed was very comfortable and the location was great for the theatre and shopping.
Review 45:There were very loud people on our floor. Two nights in a row we were awoken at 3am to people yelling and cursing while being drunk. I understand 1 night but 2 was rediculous. Might help to have staff walk around this time to keep the calm.
Review 46:Can't beat location. Really nice staff. Room was very clean.
Review 47:My room was a little cold and temperature wasn't working well...but it was pretty mild out
Review 48:Santa clause in the lobby and the vibrant enthusiasts of the staff
Review 49:The hours of the water slide. The cost for a cot. I asked for a great view and we got the parking lot.
Review 50:We like the kids room, bunnies and the water slide. The staff was friendly.
Review 51:We spent two nights listening to a party going on in the room down the hall. We heard it start up the second night around 7 pm. and I phoned the desk to ask that when we returned around 10:00 or 10:30 if they could get them quietened down. They never stopped the party so once again we never slept. Not impressed.
Review 52:Location.
Review 53:The adult pool and slide in the kiddy pool was closed due to maintence, on a normal day the price of the room was way too expensive considering there was nothing fancy about the room
Review 54:The location was absolutely perfect. The hotel lobby was gorgeous
Review 55:We brought the kids to swim in the pool for a bit and the family pool slide was closed from 2pm - 4pm on a Saturday. It's ridiculous to close the slide during the peak swim time for kids. Half the pool was people just waiting around for the slide to open. Close the slide at dinner time or something, but not the middle of the afternoon!
Review 56:Generally a good location. Check-in/check out all went well and the room was decent without being over the top. Parking was well priced with in/out privileges. Overall a good deal for a night out.
Review 57:The staff was always readily available, curteous and willing to go above and beyond for the customer. I always stay at this hotel when in Toronto as I love the service, rooms and amenities.
Review 58:Found two pseudoscorpions in my bed upon awakening. Told two people after I had checked out, not offered a compensation or anything at all. Just said they will check it out.
Review 59:Location was great, lobby was nice, beds were comfortable.
Review 60:The only draw back was our pool time. The children love pool time and were looking forward to the "water slide". Although highlighted in all the ads, the slide is only open very limited hours. We were headed to an evening show so we only had time for an afternoon swim, without the water slide.
Review 61:Location close to everything downtown. The staff were helpful and friendly. We had lunch at the hotel. Food was good and enjoyed by the children. We were celebrating one of the children's birthdays, the reservation team sent a tray full of goodies and hand written note wishing her a Happy Birthday! A highlight of her special day!
Review 62:Hotel shows its' age (and shows it in many different ways). Balconies are rusting, cement is in poor shape. Bathrooms and carpeting require serious upgrading. Can be very noisy-often hosts high school teams/young families and parties are held in rms on weekends.
Review 63:Absolutely love the location! Blocks to Eaton Centre, gay village, Ryerson and financial district.
Review 64:The cleaning lady was there very well before end of breakfast which was rather unnecessary.
Review 65:The check in staff was warm and welcoming after a long trip.
Review 66:There was no CAS discount applied
Review 67:When asked if there was an CAS discount they said because I booked on line that it was not able to applied. So will not stay there ever again
Review 68:The bed was rather firm. With my bad back I didn't get much sleep, but it wasn't anything I couldn't handle
Review 69:Services were amazing. We had a great trip and will dedinately be returning to the Chelsea. The pool and sauna and hot tub were my favorite parts because of the breathtaking view from the balcony.
Review 70:there was hair in the washroom stuck on the door and toothpaste on the front side of the bathroom counter.
Review 71:Beds were comfortable, Had a nice view of the city, staff was super friendly.
Review 72:The room was very noisy being near the ice distributor, the carpet seems old and the washroom is dirty!
Review 73:This hotel is situated in the heart of the city with a great view!
Review 74:The staff at the front desk are very friendly and relaxed. The facilities were clean and inviting. Overall an excellent experience. Amazing location as well. Will definitely book here again!
Review 75:Being informed at checkin that a deposit was being held for possible charges
Review 76:Market garden for breakfast You got the booking because of low price on Bookings.com and past pleasant experience
Review 77:Not having controls over the heat is really bad! I could barely breathe and there are no windows just a balcony door that I did not want to open as a solo female in the room at night.
Review 78:The room was clean and in a quiter area of the hotel.
Review 79:We had to wait quite a bit of time for the elevators.
Review 80:Our room had an excellent view. We got a great deal on our room. The room was clean and spacious. The staff were excellent.
Review 81:The room amenities were limited, it contained the basics even though I was given a deluxe room, which I paid extra for. No microwave, or mini fridge or anything out of the ordinary you would expect for a Deluxe room.
Review 82:I liked the new protocol for check out. We were provided with a copy of our receipt through he room door and was given the option of leaving our room keys on our dresser upon leaving. This arrangement was very convenient!
Review 83:The food court is a bit pricey. My son wanted bacon and eggs for breakfast and we ended up paying $16 for a platter! We were told after that there was a lower price option but it was too late by then. Both prices should be posted.
Review 84:The location is great! Close to Dundas Square, shopping and restaurants! The beds are really comfy!
Review 85:Ridiculously long elevator wait times. WiFi was very slow and unreliable. Common areas are very crowded. Simply too many rooms for the hotel
Review 86:Comfy rooms
Review 87:Room had old smell to it. Smelled like a 100 year old building and a bit damp/musty. Question 4 asks if the breakfast was beautiful and delicious---There was no breakfast offered that I was aware of.
Review 88:Outside and lobby were excellent. Very nice and modern. Room was nice but not excellent. Bathroom was excellent.
Review 89:The old rooms are quite disappointing. Bad smell, old, worn-out bed sheets, bad lighting, poor room and bathroom cleanliness. In summary, the old part of the hotel was quite disappointing. This was offset by requesting a room change after the first night.
Review 90:Decent Hotel only after my colleague and I were moved to the renovated quarters.
Review 91:Didnt like the coffee in the room but did like the kettle. Will bring my own coffee next time
Review 92:Loved the parking garage. Easy to locate our car. Check in and out was very friendly. Room was Ok.
Review 93:Parking was an issue and as a large family I have a bigger van that wouldn't fit your parking areas,so was forced to park 4 blocks away from hotel
Review 94:Great location,friendly staff
Review 95:We were told on arrival that check out was 2pm but my husband was locked out if his room and told checkout was 11am! He was sick and so this was not appreciated. We were definitely told 2pm checkout on arrival because I remember saying that's perfect as that's when we planned to set off on our departure.
Review 96:The staff at espresso were so welcoming and lovely with my daughter
Review 97:Hated the 40% forced deposit for incidentals. Makes me mistrustful of you and now I have to chase you down for the refund. The refund was not on my bill and I have no record of it. Feels like a shady business practice that a low brow motel would do.
Review 98:Staff was friendly and professional
Review 99:Food was over priced, rooms were stuffy and loud and tiny. Way too expensive. Didn't have a mini fridge so we had no water.
Review 100:The location and lobby was great
Review 101:Miss having breakfesr served and eggs were cold, but fast.
Review 102:The opportunity to use the green elevator. No waiting also able to leave luggage at 7 am on route to Conference. Good directions as I walk everywhere.
Review 103:The Wifi service was VERY poor The market garden closed too early and the cash registers would close mid morning and then there was a long line up to pay for breakfast where the desserts register was. The cashiers had no consideration for all of the guests waiting to pay and closed their registers anyway.
Review 104:Children's play room was lovely Housekeeping service was good
Review 105:We enjoyed the kids services we have a two year old and pool and childs area staff were o.k. However, the general staff were either not knowledgeable or were not interested in giving us any answers when we asked questions. The room was very small and we expect bigger and more comfort at 205 a night. The location, amazing. Would stay there again but only for the purposes of conveinence to down town, If we want leisure and comfort we unfortunately will be going elsewhere. Our third time there.
Review 106:Check in and check out was extremely messed up, although desk person was calm and friendly..not very helpful or competent. Long stupid line up in small crowded hot hall to get on a tiny elevator to get to parking...rediculous and pathetic!
Review 107:Young girl at courtesy desk was extremely friendly and helpful.
Review 108:Comfort of beds, noise of heater, cleanliness, parking was brutal, expensive for the services provided. Don't stay here if you can avoid it. Really not worth it.
Review 109:I liked the location of the hotel.
Review 110:The beds, very uncomfortable and we have stayed in many hotels and this is the first hotel that we didn't get queen beds. We even got queen beds at super 8.
Review 111:Always hate to pay for parking, but it was convenient to park at the hotel and walk to our destination so we could avoid hassle of Air Canada traffic.
Review 112:Stayed one night after going to a Raptors game. Walk from hotel was about 25 mins, straight shot down Bay St. Parking could have been easier, but it was late and there was some construction on Gerrard. Had a nice balcony view. Small room but we were only there for the night. Easy check in, only had to wait a couple of minutes. Very friendly and professional front desk. Easy checkout as well. Would definitely stay again.
Review 113:Hotel is very big - you can spend 15-20 minutes in the queue to reception desk, especially at peak hours for check-in / check-out.
Review 114:Location is very good, close to city centre and subway station. Room is small but cozy and comfortable, bed is also nice.
Review 115:loved the location and very friendly and helpful staff. Took the upgrade to the 26th floor with concierge service for a fabulous breakfast buffet and evening hors d'oeuvres up on the 27th. floor.
Review 116:Room Location. Noise from local Bars on Yonge St. every night until after 2:00 am is TERRIBLE! Never recommend this hotel. No sleep!
Review 117:The Market Restaurant
Review 118:All of the above There were loud, drunk guys next to our room. Someone from the hotel came up and asked them to keep it down. Really appreciate that
Review 119:No air conditioning , to change tv channels you had to go to menu every time to change , up / down didn't work on remote . Ice machine on our floor didn't work nor did evevators to garage and one was out on our floor and beeping for hours .
Review 120:Location
Review 121:It was the first time ever I lined up for check in in a hotel in a similar queue as the airports. Very long waiting time, too many people to check in at the same time and not enough staff.
Review 122:It is a great hotel, in a very good location!
Review 123:Wifi was poor. Kept having to sign back in, didn't get reception everywhere as promised.
Review 124:Gym and swimming pool. Good choice for breakfast in cafe.
Review 125:The sliding door to the balcony would not close properly and although it was a cold night the heating was not in operation so the room was very cold throughout the night.
Review 126:A high, quiet room as requested.
Review 127:Beds were rather small, soft and high. The opening times on the pool changed randomly.
Review 128:Location was excellent. Lots of places in the immediate area to eat with a wide variety of styles. Subway and shops only a few minutes walk away.
Review 129:Pillows were too soft. Also, the person who checked us in upgraded us to a deluxe room with a king size bed on the 12th floor. He said he had been in the room before and that it had a nice view of yonge & dundas square. It did not - balcony overlooked a bunch of rooftops.
Review 130:The location and comfort of the mattress.
Review 131:Bathroom is dirty. Kettle seems never washed before. coffee caps are covered with dust. AC/heat fan is full of yellow dirty stuff (see attached picture)
Review 132:Nothing other than the location.
Review 133:We wanted to park a vehicle for 1 night on the hotel property as we didn't need all nights of our stay, since we could keep our vehicle off the hotel site, the front desk told us we could not have it for 1 night we had to pay for parking every night of our stay, this wasn't to our satisfaction
Review 134:Elevators could be extremely slow during peak times waiting several minutes. Drink machines on 2 seperate floors did not work.
Review 135:Great location, clean hotel with friendly staff.
Review 136:Old fashioned room. One night there were no towels in the bathroom and the housekeeping took 30 minutes to bring us towels!
Review 137:The location just near Dundas Square and Yonge Street.
Review 138:The hotel is starting to show signs of wear. Handle on night stand barely attached. Starting to look tired.
Review 139:The location was close to the hospital I needed to go to. Also close to restaurants & activities.
