Reviews for Altstadthotel Augsburg

Review 1:I think an employee break area is in a courtyard right in line with the hotel room windows. Really loud at night. Basic hotel, we were just there for one night.

Review 2:Walking distance to restaurants and bars. Hotel staff were nice

Review 3:Pillows very flat, I had to use three. There was quite a lot of noise from the carpark at night, both from cars coming in or smokers outside.

Review 4:Very central location. Friendly staff and very comfortable.

Review 5:Our room was located to the front of the building and the noise from a bar and people standing outside of the building kept us up for hours. However, they moved us the next night and we faced the courtyard and it was quiet

Review 6:Nice personnel, good rooms and breakfast

Review 7:the elevator is out of service after 22:00 Clock - for handicapped people a problem !

Review 8:not a big hotel with personal service located in the old center

Review 9:The room was very drab. There must have been a bar/night club below us as around 4am they were hauling out their trash and woke us up with the noise. We stayed in this town as could not get a hotel in Munich that night. Wanted to be close to Dachau to see the camp. Would actually stay in the town of Dachau if possible. You can walk from town to the camp as it is located right next to the town.

Review 10:The location of the hotel was good. The off site parking a bit difficult to find. The breakfast room was much more charming than the actual rooms. Our room was basically grey and very spartan but not in the sense of Modern decor. Glad to only be there one night. very nice breakfast selection.

Review 11:-The wi-fi situation needs to be improved -- currently you have to get a hotspot user name and password for each device you want to use (for every 24 online hours), which is not very 21st century... -If you invest in putting a minibar into the rooms, it's a shame not to have any sweets in it

Review 12:Great location, friendly staff

Review 13:I was at top floor. As outside was below 25 degree, inside feels like 35, no fan, was too hot to sleep. Share a balcony with other rooms, so not dare to open it full. Very small single bed, low and bad mattress. Elevator not work after 21.45, and no reception too. Park in hotel almost impossible cos it's too small. Breakfast is simple but fine. Only okish is the service but definitely not worth the price and stars.

Review 14:No air conditioning in the room on a warm night meant that we had to have the window open. Unfortunately, Saturday night revellers made it very noisy and difficult to sleep. It detracted from what otherwise was a pleasant hotel.

Review 15:Central and convenient

Review 16:Staff very friendly. Rooms very comfortable

Review 17:Parking lot is a bit of a walk and not too convenient with luggage

Review 18:Central location

Review 19:cleen reasonable

Review 20:Nothing

Review 22:The location just off Maximillianstrasse with an enjoyable walk into the town centre.

Review 23:Lovely old building quiet Street close to old city centre.

Review 24:Great location, close to downtown, walking distance to train station.

Review 25:slightly noisy in courtyard room

Review 26:loaction was perfect

Review 27:Breakfast a little limited

Review 28:Convenience and quiet of room.

Review 29:Cozy room. Perfect location.

Review 30:LOCATION BREAKFAST VARIETY OF FOOD

Review 31:Nightclub outside of hotel can make for noisy people outside late at night at weekends

Review 32:Location to shops and main attractions was good

Review 33:Good location for attractions

Review 34:Noisy sidestreet

Review 35:Old hotel which is drab and dreary. Sorely needs updating. WiFi is a joke.

Review 36:Location is excellent. Breakfast and serving staff were very good.

Review 37:Located opposite a night bar. In summer when sleeping with open windows kots of noise during the night.

Review 38:Breakfast was ordinary, poor choice, plates not refilled very often. Couldn't open bedroom windows on hot nights because we were next to the car park with doors banging at night. Had to ask for a fan after the first hot night. Tired, old fashion furniture, 1960's TV, no toileteries, stepping out of slippery bath was risky!.

Review 39:Nothing much for the expensive room, one of the most expensive we have paid in 3 weeks in Germany, and the worse for value we have had.

Review 40:Overall, my experience at the Altstadthotel was probably the worst I've had with a hotel in my adult life. I requested a late checkin with my reservation, as my bus was arriving at 10pm and I would likely arrive about a half hour after the checkin time of 10pm. I was never notified that this may not be possible. Not once did the hotel reach out to me, though they told me they had received the request for the late checkin. I assumed the hotel must employ a night guard or someone who could let me into the room and I could formally check in the next morning. When I arrived at the hotel at 10:30pm, I was shocked to find there were no staff at all, and would not be until 6am the next morning. I ended up sleeping on the lobby marble floor until a sympathetic guest invited me to sleep on their room floor for the night - essentially concrete covered in thin carpet. When I told the front desk staff the next morning about my experience, they flatly stated that the checkin time ended at 10pm and their staff person had stayed for 20 minutes. They charged me the full rate for both nights I had booked. No apology, no nothing. I suppose it would have been one thing if this was a budget-minded hotel, but the rate was similar to that of a hotel chain. On a different note, the hotel advertises that wifi is available everywhere in the hotel. It is empirically not. I was able to access wifi in my room for about two hours (important because I was on a business trip and booked the hotel in part because the Booking.com site said it had wifi) during my two night stay. To access it at all I had to sit in the lobby, and even then the signal was very poor. I believe Booking.com should require the Altstadthotel to remove this claim, as other reviewers have also commented that the wifi has been inconsistent at best.Staying at the Altstadthotel was a terrible experience in an otherwise beautiful city.

Review 41:The rooms were fine - a bit dated but clean and kept. The bathroom was quite nice. Breakfast was good.

Review 42:The room was cleaned a bit poorly, toilet was not cleaned, and towels were replaced only once every 2 days, even when one was totally wet because of the old water barrier in the bathroom, that was not functioning that well.

Review 43:Located at the very center of the Altstadt, with many good restaurant at a short walking distance.

Review 44:Very narrow, limited parking. Reception only till 10 p.m. No extra room key for couples.

Review 45:Location is great, close to all the scenic parts, yet quiet. Good breakfast.

Review 46:the parking is too far, you have to walk with the luggage, breakfast could be varied

Review 47:The room is clean, quiet at the back of the hotel, staff is helpful although English a little bit difficult, well located in the downtown

Review 48:Can get a little noisy outside at times from students in the city centre.

Review 49:Excellent location, friendly staff. Breakfast and WiFi included in the price, so no hidden charges!

Review 50:Given that I was there for almost 4 days, I would have preferred if there were a little more variety in the breakfast. Still no complains, the breakfast was excellent!

Review 51:The location of the hotel is just perfect; a nice quite street next to the historic Maximillian street, one of the oldest streets in Europe. Every place around the location has great history and it was indeed a pleasure to soak everything up in my short stay. I plan to go back with my family as soon as possible.

Review 52:The situation for guests arriving with cars was terrible. There is no easy place from which to bring in luggage and check in. The off-site parking was awful and extremely difficult to find. The on-site parking was too cramped to be useful.

Review 53:Location wise, this was a good place from which to see old Augsburg. The breakfast offering was nice and the staff were kind and helpful.

Review 54:Reception was not interested Room was tiny, but ok, lot of noise all night long, coming from the street, this when i specially asked for a quiet room.

Review 55:Central location is top!

Review 56:Just to sleep over, nothing else. Internet very very slow, almost unusable. A bit to expensive for service offered.

Review 57:Very friendly stuff. Good location in the city. Good breakfast. Nothing to complain about.

Review 58:Gracious old building near all the sights, but quiet. Good high-speedinternet at no extra charge. Good breakfast. Nice staff. Spaciouscomfortable room and bathroom with lovely deep bathtub.

Review 59:I asked for a quiet room and even emailed ahead to re-confirm my arrivaland request. I was given a room over looking the street. The mattresswas terrible, the lighting was almost non existant. The windows were oldand did not close properly, which meant all the street noise was clearlyaudible through the night. There was no bench space to put anything onand no drawers. What bench space there had been was now occupied by aold heavy television with poor reception. The tiny shelf in the small, old bathroom was barely useful, and the lighting in the bathroom wasabout 25 watts. Everything was office grey laminate wood. I left afterone night. And it was expensive. This is 2 star pension asking 3 to 4star hotel prices. I went down the road to a completely renovated hotelwith all modern and comfortable facilites for less than the asking priceof this pension. Beware.

Review 60:Only the position in relatiin to the town. The staff were nice and didtheir best in a hotel with very poor facilities.

Review 61:old windows; very noisy on friday/saturday until 4 a.m. on the street .. visitors from Oktoberfest came back and continued to party :-(

Review 62:location, staff

Review 63:IN ONE OF THE TWO ROOMS BOOKED, the frigo was total broken. In rooms almost cool.

Review 64:Clean, frendship, nice town, veryh good for CINEC in time of octoberfest!

Review 65:Standard small shower

Review 66:Upon arrival, I asked for a larger room (because I had a single), and they gave me a King Size bed, for the same price. The room had air conditioning, which is not common in European hotels.

Review 67:The hotel needs freshening up. It feels down at heel and would benefit greatly from a redesign of the front desk area to brighten it up as well as new soft furnishings here and there. Some good qualty scent infusers around the place and better toiletries would be great because good smells make a place feel more welcoming and give a sense of caring about details. The bedroom was a bit gloomy and needed better lighting.

Review 68:The owner was absolutely charming and did all she could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. She gave us good advice about where to visit and behaved like a very considerate hostess. The location was very convenient.

Review 69:Good location, friendly service.
