Reviews for Auberge Maison Gagne
Review 1:We had one of the little cottages near the pretty lake. It was very clean and comfortable. We were able to reserve a whale watching boat trip for the next morning. Breakfast is freshly prepared and was outstanding.
Review 2:Amazing reception, breakfast and cleanliness. Décor is very Victoriana which is not necessarily our forte, but was charming for an overnight stay. Really easy to find and extremely gracious hosts!
Review 3:nothing
Review 4:Wonderful, gracious staff and the location was out of the bustle of town on a lovely lake. fantastic breakfast. A charming place close to everything and knowledgeable staff to help you plan anything.
Review 5:The owners are very friendly and helpful. The rooms were lovely and the breakfast was simply amazing! There is a cozy little living room and an entire lake to enjoy and for relaxation. There is a nice trail nearby for those who want to go for a little walk and the town and all is restaurants are within a short walking distance. This was the best place we stayed in during our entire Canada visit. If it weren't so far away, I would definately come more often.
Review 6:The only negative is that the front rooms of the inn face a very noisy street. This can be solved by closing the outside shutters and using the air conditioner.
Review 7:Breakfast was wonderful and very large. The hostess was very helpful with restaurant reservations and suggestions in the area. We loved the access to the park adjacent to the inn and used the kayaks available. A wonderful view out the back of the inn.
Review 8:The warm welcome and cleanliness. Very friendly people and a very special breakfast. The owners live up to their profession. Not one of the hundreds of low effort/high price B&B's or hotels. Worth to go there if in Tadoussac. We also checked other spots we did not book while we were there, but definately would recommend this place to our best friends.
Review 9:My husband and I so enjoyed our stay! Claire and her husband were delightful and treated their guests first class in every way. Breakfast was delicious and so beautifully served in the B&B's dining room. Claire was very helpful planning whale watches, telling us the best places to eat and the must sees in Tadoussac.
Review 10:Nothing!
Review 11:Very friendly and helpful staff - efficient check in. Organisation of our "croisière" by the B&B on arrival and explanation of what to visit, local walking paths etc. Excellent breakfast (the "omlette jambon fromage" was delicious!). Able to leave our car at the B&B until we had got back from our boat trip. Good location.
Review 12:Claire the owner was enthusiastic and friendly. She and her husband are passionate about making everyone feel at home. I called to be put on a waiting list for a 2nd night and lucky for us Claire advised us when a room became available. The breakfast each morning was just awesome! A little bit of everything on your plate, including fresh fruit and yogurt, cereal, omelette, banana French toast, it varied every day. They even duplicated everything for me gluten free!! We stayed in a regular room as well as one of the cottages. Both faced the rear so there was no issue with the noise of traffic from the ferry. Everything was impeccably clean. The cottage was spacious and had a fridge and microwave. The standard room was on the small side but the sliding glass door to the private porch made it feel more spacious. Still a very comfortable room. There are beautiful grounds backing the auberge with a lake and trails, with bikes and kayaks available to borrow. Our stay was too short. We cannot wait to return here. Excellent in every way!
Review 13:Room we had in the harden was small but nicely decorated and easy access to the garde
Review 14:The breakfast is amazing and the staff is really very kind and helping a lot! We got a small bottle of champaign for our honeymoon
Review 15:Pavilion No.12 was less comfortable than the other rooms.
Review 16:Marco and Claire the owners are extremely charming and helpful. We enjoyed a magnificent Kayak experience in a private lake adjacent to the Auberge offered free by the owners. Amazing breakfasts are served in the dining room, with personal touch by the owners.
Review 17:Only quibble is it would be so much nicer if the pot pkants were real.
Review 18:Great location though keep windows closed to keep out traffic noise. Very welcoming. We had to leavecearly on our last day so we were provided with a breakfast bag. Much appreciated. There are bikes, a kayak for the lake.
Review 19:Too close to the main highway but not too noisy.
Review 20:Great facilities in a wonderful environment. The staff was friendly and easy going and breakfast awesome.
Review 21:We did not have a close shower. The bathtub was in the room, with curtains around.
Review 22:Very well located, owners very friendly and helpful, beautiful room but small. Extremely good breakfast and generous portion. Nice and comfortable B&B, great outdoor.
Review 23:Our hosts were excellent! They made us feel welcome, they took dietary restrictions into account. No language issues. Always a welcoming hello and smile,
Review 24:Noise from room above (we were in the basement room) but only on one night.
Review 25:Best breakfast ever and most helpful host. The dearest b&b we stayed in this holiday but worth it.
Review 26:I thought the shower size bit small, but other than that everything was excellent.
Review 27:Staff was extremelly friendly and helpful at all times. Great spirit, you feel very welcome.
Review 28:Wifi did not work well. There was a strange squeaking sound from the window and street noise during the night.
Review 29:Very nice owners, who helped with everything from booking whale watching to planning hiking tours. Free access to bikes. Incredible variety of breakfast. Free parking.
Review 30:A really tiny inconvience was the size of the shower stall, but the whole place is so superbly maintained that this is negligible.
Review 31:We loved EVERYTHING about Auberge Maison Gagne! Claire, her husband and their team run an absolutely spotless and beautiful B&B. They are extremely warm people, very friendly and helpful and Claire goes that extra mile for her guests. I highly recommend their B&B and would happily stay there again.
Review 32:We had one of the chalets, which I was rapt about - A very minuscule thing was that our bed squeaked every time you turned over!
Review 33:Claire, the owner was the most refreshing, enthusiastic young woman you will ever meet! Their "surprise" breakfast was a treat! The property backs onto a lovely lake, which is brilliant. Claire said the house had belonged to her Grandparents and she and her lovely husband had bought it 20 years ago. Close proximity to the ferry crossing was also a bonus for any 'self-drivers' like ourselves.
Review 34:Not much really. Their coffee was strong and that is about it.
Review 35:Claire & Marco are the innkeepers from heaven. The will do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. Rooms were clean, bed was comfortable, breakfast was delicious and generous. Highly recommended.
Review 36:Nothing
Review 37:The friendly, welcoming hosts, our beautiful room, the incredible breakfasts - so delicious, the view, helpful advice & booking our tours. We were sad to leave.
Review 38:Really homely with attention to details Friendly owner provided great advice on what to see locally and arranged whale watching ticket. Allocated parking space for each room. Breakfast special!
Review 39:Everything was great.
Review 40:Claire is a wonderful hostess, always smiling and a wealth of information for the stay. We were on the back of the property and weren't bothered by noise. Beautiful lake area behind the property with kayaks if you want to paddle.
Review 41:Be there only one day.
Review 42:The outstanding location, just by the beautiful lac Anse and a 5 minutes walking to center of Tadoussac, the garden, the room, and specially the owners, Claire was so nice, helping us in everything that we needed, and the breakfast, OMG the best breakfast I've ever eaten. I would have liked be there more days!
Review 43:The trucks going down the hill to the Ferry make a lot of noise at night. Ask for a room at the back.
Review 44:Everything we perfect. Charming and most helpful hosts.
Review 45:Helpful friendly staff. Beautiful accommodation. Comfortable bed. Tremendous breakfast served with style in a lovely environment. The landscaping and outdoor activities were excellent.
Review 46:No dislikes....everything was perfect!
Review 47:If you are travelling to Tadoussac, you have to stay here. The owners operate this place from their hearts and it shows. We stayed for 3 nights and the breakfast was different and awesome every morning. The sitting area out back is unreal. You have your own lake and mountain to gaze at while you enjoy an evening glass of wine. We were on the road for 3 weeks in Canada, staying at many places. This was the highlight of our stays. Claire is an absolute sweetheart and so passionate about providing the best experience for her guests.
Review 48:That we couldn't stay longer.
Review 49:The hosts we wonderful and very helpful and English speaking was a plus. Excellent breakfast that looked too good to eat. Would certainly come back if we got the chance.
Review 50:Room was small and weather did not allow us to use private deck. Nice room, just small.
Review 51:Very good breakfast and different each day we were there. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great free off street parking.
Review 52:Nothing.
Review 53:We stayed for three nights in the cottage out back and it was perfect. Very quiet, comfortable bed, sofa, table and chairs. Plenty of room for our things. Breakfast was a surprise every morning and every one was good! We purchased our whale watch tickets from the B&B for a discount. We ate at three different places recommended by the host and all were very good.
Review 54:No other facilities if that is what you are looking for.
Review 55:very cozy and clean. good hospitality by the family running the place. very good breakfast. you could use their bikes and canu for free. clean and simple.
Review 56:The one thing that we did not like , is that we were unable to stay longer. We have NO complains.
Review 57:My husband and I have stayed at many Auberge B&B's and this is THE ONE that will always be in our mind. It has been the absolute place for us and we will definitely recommend it!. The hosts that own the B&B are so friendly and accommodating. It was a real pleasure to be there! Their breakfast was also one of the best we have had and each morning it is a bit different. This B&B was absolutely clean and so beautifully decorated. The hosts were so easy to talk with, we actually felt right at home. The location was perfect and the backyard was so relaxing next to a small lake. Beautiful!. The staff were also very friendly and always smiling. We never had to make reservations at any restaurant or taking a bus shuttle. It was done for us with pleasure. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. Thank-you for making our stay memorable for always!.
Review 58:Occasionally a bit noisy with lorries from the ferry but otherwise fine.
Review 59:Easy to find, set back from the road that leads to the ferry. The house is very nicely furnished, clean and bright with gardens that lead down to the lakeside. Hosts were most welcoming and helpful. They booked us a whale watching trip for the following day which picked us up from the front door and brought us back afterwards. Also....one of the best Hotel/B and B breakfasts that we have had in a long time.
Review 60:We traveled with a group of friends and we all found this place to be perfect for us. A great location, wonderful hosts and an enjoyable outdoor space on a beautiful lake. Walkable to all restaurants and shops.
Review 61:Close to busy road by ferry crossing so noisy at times but well insulated inside
Review 62:Friendly staff, little terrace overlooking lake at the back, good selection for breakfast, nice room
Review 63:Room #1 is actually a small room with only the bed, plus a smaller enclosed porch which is the sitting area. The very noisy portable air conditioner can only cool one or the other at any one time. This room only should be avoided.
Review 64:The location is perfect; near the ferry dock on the main road. It's a short walk to the tourist traps and milling crowds of Tadoussac. Behind the auberge are extensive lawns and a beautiful lake for swimming or using the complimentary kayaks. Rooms, including spacious bathrooms, are spotless and very well appointed. The breakfast is ample and delicious. Service is impeccable.
Review 65:The bathroom in our chalet was very small and the washstand was in the room - just a little cramped.
Review 66:The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were ample and had everything. The grounds were fantastic for taking a quiet stroll down to the lake and even having a swim.
Review 67:The fact that it is located on the main road, makes it a bit difficult to leave patio/window opened at night.
Review 68:the detail to breakfast each morning, balanced and very yummy and all is done without dishes clinging. Everything at that hotel is spotless and attention is given to everyone with a smile and positive attitude.
Review 69:Nothing negative to say.
Review 70:The location is perfect, easy walking distance to great restaurants, whale watching, etc. The building was spotless. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 71:Nothing to dislike. Only that I couldn't stay for a month.
Review 72:I liked everything about this B&B. The location was terrific. The property included a lawn with a scattering of trees leading down to a lake that was good for swimming and kayaking. Maison Gagne was in walking distance to the town and harbor of Tadoussac. Our room was very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. Claire was so very welcoming.
