Reviews for City Lounge Hotel
Review 1:Our room had a door leading to our neighbors.Actually it was closed but the neighbors turned out to be really curious and lucky. They succeeded in opening it..at midnight..I was really confused about it and especially about alarm that sounded for at least 30 minutes before staff member came and turned it off. Also walls in the hotel are really thin, you can hear all of the guests..
Review 2:Location is good
Review 3:None.
Review 4:Good location, major sightseeing sites at walking distance, for the city center is really not big. Staff are helpful, especially the boss, who can always come to your help. My family and I love the breakfast very much. The hotel is really the choice for the comparable price.
Review 5:Rooms not soundproof, you can hear everything
Review 6:Location was perfect, only 10-15 minutes walk to the city centre. Parking, near public transport. Breakfast was simple but good
Review 7:Located near the station and within walking distance to Altstadt. Breakfast, included in the fee, is excellent. Confortable beds, room was really quite OK for the price.
Review 8:Receptionist found my travel money that I left accidently in the room as I travelled to another location. I went back the next day and she had 200 euros waiting for me which was a relief. Nice little hotel, good location and clean.
Review 9:the room is not soud-proof at all. I could even hear clearly my neighboring habitant's conversation on a phone call.
Review 10:staff are very friendly. spacious room
Review 11:It is very noisy at night because people are talking loudly outside our room as chairs are provided at the corridor outside our room. The cleaner did not clean the room during normal cleaning hours and only came into our room and ask our permission for cleaning when we came back late afternoon. Due to miscommunication, the cleaner did not clean our room also.
Review 12:The room is spacious.
Review 13:Location, room sizes, cleanliness . Have stayed in Düsseldorf quite a few times and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality compared to other similarly priced properties
Review 14:just one little problem with light when you shower, its turn off automaticly evey 4-5 mintus and then you need to open the shower door so the sensor will detect you and turn on the light again.
Review 15:very nice hotel in good price. recommend it.
Review 16:The pictures on booking for the specific type of room booked (double) showed that the room had a kitchen in it. In reality, there was none. You need to specify you want a room with kitchen under "special requests". This forced us to eat out every day. Some of the staff could have been more professional, they were unkind in a few occasions.
Review 17:Great breakfast, nice rooms
Review 18:The hotel manager was friendly and clear. But in the morning he suddenly barged into our room without even knocking! He barely apologized and we were offended.
Review 19:Very nice and clean room. Nice beds. Nice bathroom. Mini fridge and TV is a plus at this budget. Nice possibility to park the car under the hotel.
Review 20:Staff didn't speak any English and checking-in and parking was difficult due to lack of space off the busy city street. Room is a bit outdated with cigarette burns on table in room.
Review 21:Room was large enough for a family of 4. Had internet and gated parking.
Review 22:-Front desk closed an hour earlier than posted time on the first night we checked in: Sunday, June 14. -Slightly rough neighborhood
Review 23:-Parking garage was a good value at 8 euro per night -Close to a playground -Front desk staff was very helpful, she arranged a grosraumtaxi for us with car seats and room for our six pieces of luggage.
Review 24:The only complaint I have is the wifi, the Internet connection wasn't good, it cut off a lot.
Review 25:The hotel was great, room and bathroom very clean, beds are very comfortable, nice breakfast buffet, secure parking at extra charge and friendly staff.
Review 26:The price of the parking site is expensive and there should be a better closet to put the clothes inside.
Review 27:The hotel is within walking distance from the city center (old an new) and central train station. It is very quiet and it has very spacy rooms.
Review 28:The staff doesn't speak English, so expect some problems if you don't speak German.Reception is closed from 22 to 7-8 in the morning, you need your keys to be able to get inside the hotel courtyard. Breakfast is very basic.
Review 29:Room was bigger than expected, Internet signal was good, location is ok, close to public transport.
Review 30:room and bath were very cold when we arrived (I announced our time of arrival before!) floor an bath were not very tidy
Review 31:calm rooms with view to the court
Review 32:great location, staff were very friendly and helpful. room was bigger than we expected. short walk to main station, alstadt old town and rhine river. car park underground which costs €8 per day which is a great price
Review 33:A few guests decided to carry out their loud conversations outside the entrance to the garage which was a bit disturbing for those who needed some sleep.
Review 34:Everything was great, minor remark is that the timer in the bathroom for the lights can be adjusted so it doesn't go off while you are in the shower.
Review 35:No airco, ligths went out with the timer in the bathroom when you're showering after a while. Annoying. Staff was not that enthousiastic. Just friendly and nothing more.
Review 36:Easy parking, breakfast was ok, just for one night this was good, but nothing more.
Review 37:Bathroom flooded every time someone had a shower We had a four persons room which was very small, considering we paid the same rate as a other rooms which had kitchenettes and seating areas.
Review 38:Location was good, just a short taxi ride or 30min walk to the Altstadt Didn't eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food. Beds were comfortable
Review 39:The parking is inside but not for free.
Review 40:Nice area, not far from downtown and very nice backyard.
Review 41:Good breakfast
Review 42:There is nothing to complain. If at all - the bed was a bit too soft.
Review 43:Parking and breakfast.
Review 44:Some of the staff did not speak English
Review 45:Close to the center
Review 46:Security place
Review 47:Located within walking distance of the station and shops and a shirt taxi journey to the old town.
Review 48:Very friendly and helpful staff, interesting layout of the rooms (around a courtyard)
Review 49:Very close to train station. And very helpful staff
Review 50:Not all the room have fan and many smokers outside the room.
Review 51:Location is good.
Review 52:The staff were so helpfull
Review 53:It can be noisy if people awake and walking around
Review 54:The breakfast was good!
Review 55:All good!!!
Review 56:The hotel Is close to public Transportation.
Review 57:The receptionist can't speak English.
Review 58:10 minutes walk to center station, breakfast is good
Review 59:the walls are not soundproof so you can hear everything sometimes bothering.
Review 60:having parking was very good, breakfast was good and staff were helpful.
Review 61:This hotel is amazing! Had a really nice stay. N the breakfast was amazing with lots of variety!!
Review 62:the walls were too thin,we heard everything from next room . And the pillows were too big :(
Review 63:room,locatsion,staff,breakfast
Review 64:Noisy neighbours
Review 65:Breakfast same each day but ok
Review 66:bathroom needed to be fixed noisy room pillows way to big
Review 67:flexibillity of personel breakfast parking space good beds WiFi
Review 68:Great location. Clean rooms.
Some people were listening to music and talking in the garden late at night, and as my room was right next to the garden, I could hear them well. I was lucky that they were respectful and not too loud, but if it had been other people, it could have been annoying.
Review 70:El personal es muy amable y las habitaciones, super cómodas. También me gustó que había una bandeja con tazas y un calentador de agua para tomarse un té (pero lleven las bolsitas). El desayuno es bueno. The staff is really kind and the rooms are really comfortable. I also liked that they leave a tray in your room with two tea cups and a hotpot in case you want some tea (take your own tea bags though). Breakfast is good.
Review 71:No night time security! Someone pounded on door to get in at midnight for 45 min. Sterile room - no pictures. Light didn't work in main room Auto light went off when we were in shower. Neighborhood had several erotic bars that we had to pass getting there
Review 72:Breakfast .
Review 73:The rooms have and are all being renovated and are very clean and modern. All rooms are individually accessed via an exterior door, from the courtyard or first floor, connecting balcony. there was no traffic noise as the apartments are at the rear of the building via a vehicle gate/entrance, which is shut at night, the parking is also at the rear underground. Breakfast was very good too. Staff were attentive. Location also very good as was the tarif.
Review 74:Our Booking was not showing that we had already paid and although I could show my payment, there was still any doubt. Water cooker but no tea.
Review 75:Although the rooms are simple and not much luxury, they are bigger than most rooms that are more expensive. good value for money.
Review 76:the room and general areas are a bit run down and in need of decoration. staff need to cheer up a bit.
Review 77:the room was very clean. breakfast was reasonable.
Review 78:The hotel cannot be defined properly as an hotel according to themeaning we adopt in Western Europe for this word. It is nothing morethan an inferior motel placed in urban landscape. The room fare (199Euros per person per night, I am not joking: I have the invoice!) is notcompatible with the location and the total lack of services. This pricecannot even been justified by the simultaneity with a big trade fair. Iwill add: poor hygienic conditions, lack of any skill in Englishlanguage, spiral staircases without elevator and much more. The overalljudgment was a fraud.
Review 79:Quite poor kitchen equipment.
Review 80:Everything was perfect! Great location - 15 min from city centre, calm district, safe place. Very nice courtyard. Breakfast - nothing special, but ok. Hotel offers daily transport ticket cost €2, tram stations are nearby. Wi-fi was very good.
Review 81:I visited during a fair so ended up paying a ridiculous amount of moneyfor otherwise a low-cost accommodation. No elevator
Review 82:My room was oriented to the backyard so it was nice and quiet at night
Review 83:I booked a triple room but when I checked it, I found a twin room with an extra bed. The cleaning staff can't speak English. No elevator. WiFi signal was weak in my room. There was a kitchenette in the room but no pan or something to warm your food.
Review 84:location, cleaning, breakfast is acceptable. I lost my booking date but they gave me same days later.
Review 85:The wifi doesn't work very well. The breakfast is very poor.
Review 86:The bed is very comfortable, you also have a small kitchen in the room. The hotel is near the centre 15 minutes walking, and also from the train station.
Review 87:It is hard to believe all those super positive comments. The owner ofthe hotel was incredibly rude (E.G. after my request of seeing our roombefore we pay, he had one xenophobic comment- he comes originally fromIran we come from the Czech Republic, on my question of using WiFi wasthe answer- you can read it on internet- don´t worry Wifi did´t work inour room anyway). The only thing that stopped us from walking away wasour late arrival. Rooms windows are onto a little courtyard, thats true, but becouse of having the rooms tide next to each other, you can hereeverything. Every step of every person that comes or goes (during ourstay there were some young friends that regulary came after party in thecity at around 3- 4 am). We were awake couple of times every night evenwith our windows closed. I definetely wouldn´t recommend this hotel.Save your money guys.
Review 88:Central location, carpark (garage), clean rooms. Very friendly and nicelady (stuff) at breakfast.
Review 89:We were on the 2nd floor with no elevator so bringing the luggage up wasa bit of effort but not a major issue. The only other thing that was abit odd was that although there was a kitchenette there were no utensilsor cooking pans to use other than 2 wine glasses and 2 coffee cups. Wedid borrow some pans from the reception which made it ok but be preparedif you wish to cook any meals.
Review 90:We have two small kids so this was an ideal place where we had akitchenette and also safe underground parking, yet only a 10 minute walkto old town. Although there aren't any frills here, the place wasperfect for the family and a great place to relax after a day in thecity. Breakfast, a nice spread of cereals, meats/cheeses, yogurt, juices, eggs, etc., was lovely in the morning. You can also sit in thecourtyard during the day. The reception also has travel passes for a feweuros so you can travel on all transport for the day for a good price.Prior to our arrival, I also appreciated that the staff promptlyanswered any questions we had via email.
Review 91:a bit far too to het or walk to the old town
Review 92:The room was spotlessly clean, as well as the bathroom. Fresh towels each day. Tea/ coffee facilities, excellent buffet breakfast. Quiet surroundings, small but nice garden. All very clean.
Review 93:Great location, in the centre of town, close to all amenities. Good sized rooms. We loved the garden area, where you can picnic, or relax. Great wifi access, due to multiple routers! All in all, for the price we paid, an excellent value - we would definitely return.
Review 94:No choice of English TV channels, CNN only. Beds too soft. No lift to upper floors.
Review 95:Wifi in rooms. Breakfast. Shower. Courtyard. Garage. Ceiling fan. Cost of rooms. Cheap travel card.
Review 96:The hotel looks a little shabby from the outside with a collection ofdirty flags over the doorway - don't let this put you off! The carentrance is secured with a big metal door which only the staff can open. This means parking your car on the (very busy) street to gain entry (andusually involved a trip around the block). Slightly annoying but itwon't stop me staying there again. The Wi-Fi has 3 or 4 accesspoints and two wouldn't allow connection. When I found one thatworked the connection was fast and strong. Hotel hard to beat for the€49 per night I paid.
Review 97:A nice little hotel in the south of the city. Only a 15-20min walk fromthe shops of Königsallee and the bars of the Altstadt. Trams and busesare also nearby and the hotel, I think, offers a €2 daily travel card(which I didn't use). Breakfast was an excellent buffet with lotsavailable even towards the end. The rooms are quite large and they open,"motel style" onto a little courtyard and on the day I arrivedit was very warm, giving the place an almost Mediterraneanfeel...Parking is quite small but underground and secure. The Wi-Fi,once connected, was fast, stable and free. I originally only booked onenight here but extended my stay to two nights. Very friendly staff, allwith excellent English. I am likely to stay at this hotel again.
Review 98:Honestly, we are quite satisfied with our experienced at VIP Hotel.
Review 99:We loved the fact that everything was so close! We took a cab from the hotel to the train station because we lacked time, but it was only a short walk. We also walked down to the shopping area, the Rhine River, and to the longest bar in the world! All were quite close. The transit system was also convenient. Breakfast was good and the bed was very comfortable!
Review 100:Nothing really - a couple of light bulbs needed changing but expect this would have been done had we asked!
Review 101:Excellent location around midway between railway station and main shopping area. Secure car parking and reliable wi-fi. Great buffet breakfast. Large room. Friendly, helpful staff. Good restaurants in easy walking distance.
Review 102:Very unfriendly staff (overheard them complaining in German about English people not understanding German when in fact I do!) Security gates in and out A long way from the city centre Poor breakfast No sense of security when leaving bags (left in an unattended reception area!)
Review 103:Free wi-fi
Review 104:Our room by the stairwell could get a bit noisy, that aside nocomplaints at all.
Review 105:Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast. Good public transport to bothhbf station and Aldstadt. Also sold cheap travel tickets.
Review 106:There isn't a lift so if you're on the third floor it's a bit of a trekup the stairs if you have heavy suitcases. We were very happy with ourroom on the third floor because it was private and quiet, but wewouldn't have been so happy in a room on the ground floor because thelarge windows of these rooms all looked out onto a central courtyard. This meant that people walking in the courtyard could look directly intothe ground floor bedrooms unless the blinds were drawn.
Review 107:The bedroom was large, light and quiet. In addition to an en-suitebathroom there was a little kitchen area with a fridge, a couple ofhotplates, a sink, a small table and two chairs. There was also akettle, two cups and saucers and two teaspoons but no other equipment. We bought ourselves some tea and coffee which enabled us to make awelcome hot drink when we got back to our room. The location was withinwalking distance of the Konigsallee (about 15/20 minutes) and theAltstadt (about 20/25 minutes). There were also several tram stops quiteclose by. The breakfast was ok - nothing luxurious but adequate and goodvalue at 5 euros each. The hotel has travel cards which cost two eurosand are valid for 24 hours in both Dusseldorf and the rest of NorthRhine Westfalia which is a very good deal if you are planning to usepublic transport.
Review 108:The shower was a little cold.
Review 109:Only stayed one night out of a 5 week long euro-trip but this hotel waseasily one of the best. Good secure car parking, decent wifi connection, good breakfast, very friendly staff + the biggest room/apartment of thelot. Rather than cramming the 4 beds into one room there was two largerooms with 2 beds each + an extra kitchen room. A shame we only had onenight there
Review 110:Not friendly staf, and when we asked for a breakfast box because we were traveling early they refused, I don't know why !! Because we already paid for it.
Review 111:Clean and comfort
Review 112:Staff not present when we booked in and had to ask other residents for the location of the key.
Review 113:Have stayed before so familiar with the location and the routine of the hotel. Reasonable breakfast. Good, working fan in the room.
Review 114:Breakfast isn't that great. A bit pricey.
Review 115:Fine big room, excellent Wifi, great laundry service, staff are all very nice, great parking facilities, good location.
Review 116:The "apartament" for 4 persons is in fact a studio in which a sofa wasadded. The sofa is unconfortable. The "apartament" is quite small
Review 117:Close to the city center, underground garage
Review 118:hotel is being renovated
Review 119:location, secure parking & good breakfast
Review 120:the quietness, breakfast was okay
Review 121:Some staffs are good, but some are not good. Sometimes the breakfast is ok, but sometimes is not good.
Review 122:The location is good. The room is big.
Review 123:The stains on the carpet The small leaking shower The price. This is not a 3 star hotel
Review 124:The very helpful woman on reception when I arrived
Review 125:The receptionist could not speak in English.
Review 126:The location was good. The hotel is close to public transportation. The breakfast was also good.
Review 127:front desk people not so professional
Review 128:not far away from HBF, close to shopping street
Review 129:Nice small yard, nice room.
Review 130:Alles erg gedateerd en deels kapot.
Review 131:Veel ruimte en faciliteiten. Heerlijke bedden
