Reviews for Hotel Tadoussac

Review 1:We were there in the off season and there really wasn't much to do in Tadoussac, though thankfully we did manage to eat an amazing meal in Chez Mathilde on their last night before they closed for the winter.

Review 2:Beautiful location right on the river front in Tadoussac and beautiful old hotel building. Lovely walks along the coast. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 3:One of the lady's working at reception was a bit snotty when we asked if there was a student discount for the whale trip.

Review 4:I loved how warm the hotel felt. I also loved the location and the beautiful view of the estuary from the beautiful garden of the hotel

Review 5:Services at breakfast was pretty bad. Nearly finished my breakfast by the time a drink was offered.

Review 6:Stunning hotel in a beautiful location. Staff really friendly and welcoming.

Review 7:Breakfast is expensive ($20). Good amount of choice, but as it is a buffet you are not likely to get the food at it's best, unless you are there as soon as they put it out (and we were there at the end of the season, mid-October, so not a lot of customers). Not sure about other choices in the area, but would definitely look elsewhere if we went back.

Review 8:Great location

Review 9:There were so many tourists all over the place and so many buses. Our room had view of a dumpster. These huge tours get the good rooms and the individual traveler get the lesser ones.

Review 10:The grounds were kept beautifully. The view was really pretty if you had a front room.

Review 11:Restaurant closed at 9 pm and staff told us that: 1.we could not get food anywhere else in the hotel ( not true) 2. That all restaurants in the town closed early too ( not true) But then they offered to keep the buffet open for us but then hurried us along. In addition we had staff all around us cleaning up.

Review 12:Location

Review 13:Everything else! The staff is unfriendly and ignored us every time we came to ask something. The room had a smell like no one had opend a window in the last 2 years, and when we came to see if we could change room, the "nice" receptionist told us that economy rooms come with the smell. I would defently would not go there again!

Review 14:The location is great

Review 15:I did not like that we could not order off the menu for breakfast. Not everyone likes a huge breakfast or can eat one. Rooms need air conditioning

Review 16:Beautiful rustic building. Gardens are lovely.

Review 17:The excellence and charm of an old-style hotel where you are so at ease that you don't want to go elsewhere: the restaurants are excellent, the breakfast is generous, the views are stunning from the windows opening to the elegant park and descending gently to the bay. A place to stay at least a few days to make the most of it. And for a change, no crazy air-conditioning at Hotel Tadoussac!

Review 18:The hotel is old though. The room is not large and not sound proof. We were in the first floor, but there're 3 places where there're steps but no ramps. Not friendly to big suite cases or coolers with wheels.

Review 19:Very nice location.

Review 20:Bed was small and similar to sleeping on the floor. Value for what we paid isn't there but it was a quintessential hotel

Review 21:Loved the location, spectacular view!

Review 22:We booked two rooms for one night. The rooms were extremely small with only one bed for two people. We requested a cot for each room for a child in each room because of the one bed. We had barely enough room to move around. $556.00 total was exhorbitant. Of all the motels/hotels that we stayed in during our tour of Quebec, Hotel Tadoussac was a disappointment.

Review 23:The young woman at Guest Services was very welcoming and helpful.

Review 24:rooms can tend to be stuffy - even with fan on- mostly due to closure of curtains at night

Review 25:staff friendliness, casual comfort of a lodge in a natural setting

Review 26:A bit tired. The hotel survives on one off whale watchers and large bus groups, does not need to make an effort to offer good value.

Review 27:Very central location

Review 28:Some of the key customer service staff did not speak English so it was a bit of a struggle to communicate. We expect bilingual staff at such a big resort. One of the key customer service staff was actually quite rude.

Review 29:The location was excellent. The cleaning staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Review 30:Not the cheapest of hotels. But staying a few days I got to believe it's worth the price. A charming, warm place managed by kind professionals. Nice rooms and plenty of common spaces to relax and socialize, especially when weather limits outdoor activities. Perfectly and beautifully located, open your window and you'll almost hear the whales breathe in the fjord and St Lawrence.

Review 31:room was warm .was on first floor and when opened window was very noisy and kids looked in window. no night table on one side of bed. lighting is very poor . should advertise no airconditioning. very buggy outdoors.

Review 32:views and location

Review 33:I learned of the passing of my brother during my stay. The staff was very helpful in providing me services to rebook my flights at the computer station.

Review 34:Nice, old character hotel with a view of the St. Lawrence. The staff were friendly and helpful and the location couldn't be better. While sitting on the front lawn, we even got to watch a whale playing in the River!

Review 35:The room definitely did not live up to our expectations. It was small and very hot - the ceiling fan did little to cool down the room. The view of the parking lot and the entrance was less than charming, and the Harley Davidsons arriving and revving their engines did little to improve our opinion. Our family did not sleep very well because of this. We expected much more from the room for 600$ + for two nights.

Review 36:I loved sitting in the lobby having cocktails overlooking the St. Lawrence. The grounds were beautiful and well kept, the antiques and artwork were lovely. I wish we had more time to enjoy the quaint activities offered - shuffleboard looked like fun!

Review 37:only the weather, but Quebec has suffered this summer

Review 38:The location was perfect. Great walks and wonderful views. Whale watching was available. But we were not. Dry successful in seeing them,

Review 39:Loved our room with a view. Beds clean and comfy. Lovely grounds. Attractive dining and bar. Loved the Adirondack chairs on the lawn. Staff at check-in helpful and knowledgeable.

Review 40:I wish it was open in the winter. I heard they close.

Review 41:This is an old Hotel established in the Victorian era. The room dimensions have stayed the same and rustic feel is maintained. However everything is comfortable about the rooms. I rather enjoyed seeing static on the TV, finally a place far enough from signals! The quality of food and service in the restaurant is quite frankly surprising, first rate is the best phrase to describe it. I liked the gift shop and bar.

Review 42:The weather, but it wasn't the hotel's fault.

Review 43:The hotel is lovely in its old style, not a corporate modelled hotel. The facilities for families are good and the staff are helpful. The views from the bar are great, as is the live music.

Review 44:the service was not excessively friendly and our meal at the restaurant was expensive and not to any of our tastes.

Review 45:Location is excellent, charming lodge hotel

Review 46:Small room, hotel need to be repaint in and out dosent look fresh, and staff have problem to manage breakfast.

Review 47:Good location, nice front gardin and funny playground inbasement

Review 48:The room was a bit small. One of the double beds was pushed up very close to the wall.

Review 49:I loved the ambiance of the hotel. The pool and breakfast were fabulous.

Review 50:I called two weeks prior to my reservation date and asked if my room could be ready early. I think with 2 weeks notice we could have been accommodated a few hours earlier rather than having to get changed in the basement bathroom and wait by the pool for 2 hours.

Review 51:I liked that there is no corporations installed around Tadoussac. Everyhting from restaurants, markets, grocery store, coffee shops are all local businesses.

Review 52:Building and installations are a bit aged. Still very clean and confortable though.

Review 53:Historical building with an amazing view 50 meters from the bay. Friendly and competent staff

Review 54:The ambiance was amazing. Friendly staff helped make iur stay ver relaxing. Hiking and whale watching nearby. Fine dining at the William is an experience that is not to be missed. Scrumptious!

Review 55:N/A

Review 56:Room was clean, quiet, spacious, bed comfortable, nice view to gardens. Staff was always pleasant and helpful. Buffet breakfast was excellent.

Review 57:Absolutely nothing.

Review 58:Beautiful views from rooms and lounge; free coffee in the lounge in the mornings; amazing buffet breakfast with much variety; best massage I can remember; friendly and helfpful staff.

Review 59:Maid dumped recycle basket and waste basket in same trash bag. Do it or don't do it, but don't have guests separate trash and then dump it together. Dining rooms have no vegan choices. Only one restaurant in town has one vegan choice.

Review 60:Location.

Review 61:Bar was shut whwn we arrived late - 22h00pm. Mattress a bit soft for my taste.

Review 62:Staff. Welcome . Size and appearance of room. View from the window and location.

Review 63:Only negative is there was a note taped to the registration desk saying the water was not suitable for drinking. This was not mentioned nor was any bottled water supplied in the room.

Review 64:Nice large, clean rooms. Ours faced the river. Beautiful lobby, nice bar and restaurant. Convenient for whale watching.

Review 65:V traditional eg large old fashioned dining room so we only ate once in 3 days. Food was good. WiFi v disappointing, difficult to access and retain.

Review 66:Excellent location with good room and communal facilities.

Review 67:Very odd we were advised not to drink the water, and none supplied in the rooms. Breakfast far too expensive if not on package.

Review 68:Views, location, ambiance are great.

Review 69:There had been a mix-up with our bookings, but the desk clerk was very helpful and pleasant and it was quickly resolved. The hotel itself is lovely and reminds me of what resorts must have been like in the 50s. It is elegant and peaceful.

Review 70:We think that the lobby could be made more attractive (some more cozy nooks) and friendly by adding a coffee/tea/hot chocolate/iced tea/coffee in summer bar with barista , scones, cookies to entice people to sit...would make money for hotel and make it more enticing to sit

Review 71:Front desk staff upgraded to river view with no added cost as hotel not too full; totally relaxed; can have a quiet drink on the terrace overlooking the river or in garden;

Review 72:Room was small for the price we paid

Review 73:It was close to everything in Tadoussac You have a good view of the activities from the lounge (our room was facing the other way though) Breakfast was very good

Review 74:The water at the hotel was not potable during our visit, due to a water advisory, but we only discovered this after asking. The staff never informed us of this when we registered, nor did they give us bottles of water until we asked about the drinkability of the tap water. Even then the bottles of water they gave us were tiny. The bathroom could be better with more hooks and shelf space. Check in and out were very slow. The hotel is overpriced for what it is.

Review 75:The location is great with a water view on one side of the hotel. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast staff were lovely and friendly and helpful.

Review 76:Absolutely loved staying here. I felt like I was in an old movie - the hotel a perfect example of what traveling used to be like. Totally charming. Excellent location. I would stay here again.

Review 77:The hotel is overpriced for the condition and size of the rooms. We felt that the waterfront rooms were not worth the price since we would only be there at night. We also did not appreciate that we had to pay for a $40 breakfast that was "included" in the purchase of a whale sightseeing tour at the front desk. We were told that the cost of the ticket included the breakfast but then it was a separate charge on our hotel bill.

Review 78:Spectacular views, great sunsets, wonderful restaurants, quiet strolls and beautiful scenery. The Tadoussac Hotel is privileged with a front row seat to most of this. The best part was discovering the Café Boheme on the main strip.

Review 79:Our reservation was made for the wrong date by the clerk on duty that day.

Review 80:The "wrong date" reservation was rectified by giving us a room - in spite of telling us initially that the hotel was sold out for the particular evening in question.

Review 81:Room and bed very mediocre. Very expensive stay for a family with two children.

Review 82:Food was good, stuff and the piano player singing old French songs. Warm and comfortable atmosphere in the hall, bar. Makes you feel at home.

Review 83:Dinner was not the best (especially for the price) and the wait staff seemed a little impatient.

Review 84:We loved the ambiance, beautiful surroundings...and the kids loved the heated pool! The breakfast buffet was fabulous!!

Review 85:Poor service by the front desk. Too complicated signing in. No staff to assist with luggage checking in and checking out.

Review 86:location and the dining room was excellent.

Review 87:- no air condition - no renovated rooms - smelled musty - dirty dishes remained outdoors for three days - front desk staff did not go out of their way - whale excursion got cancelled at the very last minute and we had already vacated our room

Review 88:- staff at restaurant were extremely courteous - historic feel - location

Review 89:Hotel is showing its age a bit. Needs some maintenance to really look grand again.

Review 90:Location of hotel was excellent with great view of the harbor. Historic style fit with the area. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were clean. Restaurant had nice menu and service.

Review 91:Poor English of everyone, including the attendances. Very old facilities, no air condoning, no refrigerator, no cups in bathroom, noisily fan, only like a motel. Too expensive of everything, but no services at all. Not friendly to English speakers. No entainments around the area. Very hard to find the useful info.

Review 94:Friendly staff

Review 95:Good breakfast beautiful location

Review 96:Posto delizioso e pieno di fascino

Review 97:Great staff. hotel overlooking the water.

Review 98:The dining room does not offer good value and the food is outdated.

Review 101:Good location, good bedding

Review 102:Hotel getting a bit old; not renovated. Poor value for your money.

Review 103:Great view and location

Review 104:Poor service in restaurant

Review 105:Location, setting

Review 106:For the price, we hoped for a better view than the parking lot.

Review 107:The location is amazing!

Review 108:the location and the room view

Review 109:Terrible food. Don't eat at this hotel.

Review 110:Great location and ambiance.

Review 116:- nice view on the bay - comfort

Review 117:Situation exceptionnelle

Review 118:Breakfast, holes in blankets, hotel building condition

Review 119:Location, hotel grounds, staff

Review 120:Room size. Not possible to make tea.resort

Review 121:Felt like I was in an earlier era.

Review 122:No air conditioning . Room not up to standard or updated even for an older hotel. For the price point, I would not recommend to others.

Review 123:lovely old hotel

Review 124:Excellente location, personnel serviable et excellents restaurants.

Review 125:small room. bathroom outdaded

Review 126:Mytic hotel. Location, facilities, pool, tennis, garden, ...

Review 127:Great views, nice place! well worth the extra few bucks.

Review 128:The location and the view of the river from the bedroom's window!

Review 129:Rooms were average. The bed was soft and overall room came across as tired.
