Reviews for Hotel Nikko Düsseldorf

Review 1:The worst gym facility I have ever seen, barely any equipment. The restaurant told me I would get an in-house discount that would be put through to my final bill, but wasn't. Staff wasn't very helpful.

Review 2:It was a clean hotel, decent area.

Review 3:They charge extra for wifi for second device even though it's a double room (€10 per day!) and also extra to use the spa (but the gym is free) and also the breakfast is not great considering the price. Would recommend going room only and having your breakfast out!

Review 4:Great location, within walking distance of almost everything in the city. Very friendly helpful staff. Modern, clean and stylish. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Review 5:1. The Spa is included in the price, but the front desk said that was not. 2. When we went to Spa, the lady asked us to change bathrobe in OUR room. Stupid! Later we found that there is Locker room there, and we can change clothes there. 3. The safety box was out of order. 4. The room is big, but EMPTY. 5. No bathtube. 6. No shelf to put shampoo and shower gel in the shower room, and we had to put it on floor.

Review 6:The bedsheets are seriously small. For a double bed you have one cover that fits ON the mattress, but not OVER. So you can hardly turn around without your feet sticking out or only being under it for half. For a hotel this price its a surprise there is not more comfort.

Review 7:Parking at the hotel is fine. It is a nice and spacious hotel with large rooms and good bathrooms.

Review 8:I would have had to pay to use the spa & pool. Decided against it. The parking on the -2 &-3 levels aren't connected directly to the lobby . Would be good to have a small fridge in the room so people can store stuff that needs to be refrigerated over night ( even if there's nothing in it)

Review 9:Located right in the heart of little Tokyo (Japanese restaurants nearby and also in the hotel are fantastic) Clean, efficient, love the concept of having a checkout mini bar in the lobby rather than in the room.

Review 10:Nothing

Review 11:Every thing is excellent about this hotel, great location. 10 min walk to Konigsallee, 10 min walk to Central station. I had a pleasurable stay. Very clean and trendy. And I had a free upgrade :)

Review 12:staff at spa/swimming pool was looking a bit depressed, no facial impressions at all through out the conversation when asking about opening time and other questions. plus you have to pay separate of 15euros to use the SPA/swimming pool as of a 5 star hotel.

Review 13:location

Review 14:On arrival we had paid for an early checkin only to be told that it wasn't available & that if we wanted an extra early time we'd have to pay an €25 per night on top of the money we had paid. The reception lady was incredibley rude!! Everything about the hotel cost us something!

Review 15:We didn't spend € 25.- pp for (kids half price) breakfast. Prebooking price was € 38.- Outside the hotel are so many places to have breakfast.

Review 16:Located just 10 min from old centre. Spaceous rooms (5 beds)

Review 17:The swimming facilities were great, my daughter had a great time. The rooms are clean, a bit warm but we could open the window, fresh air was really nice. The breakfast was plenty and delicious! Across the hotel there is a great japanese ramen restaurant Takumi, next to it there is a japanese desert shop

Review 18:The staff was amazing and so kind and friendly! That really stood out for me and I will definately be coming back to this hotel if going to Duesseldorf again. The service was great! Very clean rooms/bathrooms. Everything was good!! Loved the Xmas tree in the lounge and the balls of light.

Review 19:The coffee machine didn't work. The lamps didn't work. Electrical fault. We had a king bed, but it had two single duvet covers on it? For the price you pay, breakfast should be included. Plus if you want to have a swim, it's another €15 per person.

Review 20:The room was large in size. They sent a tech to fix the fault.

Review 21:Bar area and seating area small and, in our opinion, inadequate for such a busy hotel.

Review 22:Great location, great rooms with views of Duesseldorf, very good breakfasts and lovely pool area.

Review 23:Minor issues: Room had a coffee maker with capsules so we couldn't make our own tea. Restaurant closed on Sundays.

Review 24:Spacious and clean rooms. Good WiFi, didn't give any issues at all. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 25:the breakfast was very expensive for what it was and I didn't think it was very fair that you have to pay for the spa and pool even if you are a guest at the hotel

Review 26:The rooms where very modern and clean the hotel is beautiful and the food is amazing one off the best burgers I have ever had and the location is very good

Review 27:A bit far from centre of town. Leisure centre an extra cost.

Review 28:Near to Railway Station but in a quiet location. Lots of restaurants nearby. Room clean and modern.

Review 29:Breakfast very expensive.

Review 30:Another relaxing stay at this hotel. A lovely warm comfy room and very comfortable bed. Just down the road from railway stn and a short walk from the shops and old town. Great spa facilities to.

Review 31:The water wasn't topped up daily! Needs to have an option of English tea not just peppermint tea or earl grey. I couldn't get English breakfast tea unless I got up for breakfast and I didn't. The pool was cold, didn't bother staying in it.

Review 32:The size of the room. The shower was a nice walk in shower. Good that I couldn't smell cigarettes as people said in other reviews that they could.

Review 33:Took forever to check in and check out. Staff needs more training. The Nikko chain was excellent with services in past so I was really disappointed. Instruction on how to connect WIFI was confusing and once connected very slow. They offer high speed for additional charge. Also use of the spa area was an additional charge, too :-(

Review 34:The location was good. Easy to find from the central train station.

Review 35:Not having the bed made up or the bathroom cleaned. The staff moving my bag to another room when we went out, and taking an hour to get our bag back t us upon our return.

Review 36:We found it very difficult to get the hotel to part with those small milk cartons .Two reday for two people is ridiculous --ideally 5 per person is average. We were woken on the last day by the cleaner at 8.30 when he entered our room. The receptionist was indifferent preferring to listen to her colleagues rather than addressing our matter. The hotel says it has a green environment policy but all our room lights were left on every day by the cleaner,so it is not practising what it preaches

Review 37:Quiet room

Review 38:It was a 20 minute walk to the Aldstadt although the underground was close by. The coffee was a little pricey at the hotel bar.

Review 39:Excellent and helpful staff who helped us to organise concert tickets at the last minute and brought our bag up to the room while we were out. Comfortable and spacious room with tea and coffee making facilities. Close to the main train station and tourist information centre.

Review 40:Allocated a smoking room, although we don't smoke, and found out later the non smoking rooms were of a higher standard.

Review 41:Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 42:When i arrived at the hotel I was told I would need to swipe a credit/debit card and the money would NOT be taken. When we checked out I tried to pay on my card and it rejected (because I do not use the account and only had £100 in it to pay) my friend paid for the hotel on his card. The money is still pending on my account. I have tried to contact the hotel via telephone with no joy. I just want my money released I have an authorisation code from my bank 575811 I am furious with the bad service to be honest and will not be returing again

Review 43:The rooms is very old and smell bad. The fact we went down to reception to ask to change the room the staff was rude, after we explained the issue he just handle it over to another colleague and walked off ..

Review 44:The Hotel Location

Review 45:The wifi connection was terrible don't expect to have one! Wasn't impressed with the poor amenities.

Review 46:Very good Location and nice Japanese&Korean restaurants around!

Review 47:Would be nice to add some items to the breakfast menu. No slippers in the room.

Review 48:Nice spacious room, with sofa. Coffee and tea maker in the room. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast, although somewhat limited selection. Good location in a quiet street, just walking distance from Koenigallee and the city center.

Review 49:Air Condition controller was too old in the room therefore I could not adjust comfort temperature.

Review 50:Location was very good. There are lots of nice Japanese food restaurants around this hotel.

Review 51:Described as a 4 star but made you pay for every extra that one would assume would be included in that star rating.

Review 52:Location to Dusseldorf Central station and the What's Beef Restaurant.

Review 53:The price of drinks at the bar.Paying a few cents short of 15 euro for a gin and tonic at the hotel bar is absolutey outrageous!!

Review 54:Great location, close to everything!!

Review 55:Parking garage very pricey- but we found one 3 minutes walk for lessthan half the price.

Review 56:Friendly staff Clean rooms Great infrastructure 15 minute walk from theold town- nice walk!

Review 57:The hotel is awesome! I was with my best friend spent 2 nights for 171€ without breakfast! The breakfast was super expensive but anw the hotel is very clean and modern and classy!! It s 10min walk from the oldstadt and th centrum which is not far at alllll! We really had a wonderful stay there!!!

Review 58:The staff at the reception is not friendly and arrogant! The hotel lobby looks like a cheap commercial center. The spa is not included in the hotel room price. The beds are too soft and not of first quality.

Review 59:Large room with a good view. Good location. Close to everything.

Review 60:It didn't effect our stay but a room for improvement is the air conditioning system. The air conditioning in the rooms didn't work - rooms too hot as we were unable to turn the temperature down

Review 61:Staff excellent

Review 62:Poor Air conditioner and even after reporting to them and their promise to rectify! But they did not rectify and they did not apologize! We were sweating!

Review 63:The location, decoration, size of the room, car parking and the breakfast menu.

Review 64:The reservation can be more flexible for customer. And construction maybe can take place later of the day. Three morning with I had is nosie because is construction going on.

Review 65:The located is ok and the room is clean

Review 66:- no water on the room - location around main station is central. You have to like the atmospshere when walking to and from the main station - rooms seem a llittle bit used up but are clean!

Review 67:- room was quite and clean - good breakfast - friendly staff

Review 68:too noisy from other guests, WIFI was very bad and slow and 1 person in each room can use it at the same time. location of the hotel.

Review 69:i booked the family room was so big and good very comfortable.

Review 70:The Bed size was not up to standard tge matress was old, toiletries were not up to standard, the air conditioning was very bad and as a resident you will be charged if you use the swimming pool, which I find very strange. Over rated hotel by far

Review 71:The room service is ok

Review 72:We could only get wifi on one device unless we paid, which was a bit annoying but not the end of the world. The breakfast was really expensive but there are a few restaurants just a road or two away that was a lot better value for money for the same thing.

Review 73:The staff were really friendly. We got s really good, cheap deal. We were upgraded on arrival. We asked to check out later and they allowed us without extra charge. It was easy to find and walking distance from everywhere we needed to go. It was 15 euros for the pool, sauna, steam room and gym I would definitely reccommend this!

Review 74:The aircondition was very poor we have to change the rooms and still the other rooms were hot.The safty box is not working. They promise to fix it but no one came gor that. The elevator was annoying.

Review 75:The room was clean and large.

Review 76:I wanted checked in 2pm but room was not ready and a clark said come back at 3pm. Then I went to the desk at 3pm and one lady clark said come back one hour later. So I asked Japanese lady clark instead, she gave me a room right away. No ice machine is available.

Review 77:Comfort, breakfast and location.

Review 78:Some staff were not aware of the details of our reservations (what is included etc), found some clothes in the drawers from previous guests, gentleman at the spa reception very unfriedly, didnt want to supply wardrobe (which was normally included in our fare) as he said they were closing in one hour... But when explained our issues at reception at check-out , they were very nice.

Review 79:Good area in the japanese neighbourhood, very good breakfast, nice view from the last floor pool area.

Review 80:So much nois, wifi is poor and should be privided to unlimited devices, refreshment in the loby should be provided the whole day.should have porter to carry the bags.

Review 81:Staff .

Review 82:Biggest moan- soft and uncomfortable mattress with dip in the middle; Efficiency of air conditioning in room quite poor; They have now added a "Bistro" to facilities. We tried it it as did not want to go out again, but expensive and small portions. Also understaffed so that service very slow. One girl rushed off her feet! Noisy works ongoing in day time (7.45 to 18.00)

Review 83:Helpfulness of multi lingual front of house staff. Consistent reasonable standards of rooms

Review 84:AC not good for all rooms, reported to hotel but nothing happened! I faced the same AC problem 3 years with the same hotel, I thought they would have fixed it by now!!

Review 85:Frukosten kostade 25 eur/person Det tycker jag är alldeles för dyrt. Vi gick ut och åt istället det blev inte ens hälften så dyrt.

Review 86:Rent och snyggt hotell. Vänlig personal.

Review 87:Difficult to understand and use facilities in the room especially for bathroom due to no instructions.

Review 88:Staff people were very helpful and location was very good for my 3 days business trip from Japan.

Review 89:It was very hot day on the day we stayed but the air conditioning of the main builing was almost broken and the room was very hot. Therefore we asked to change the room to annex. The room of the main builing is 80's, very dark and aged facility. Some solidified rice was on the floor, maybe the floor was not cleaned daily.

Review 90:We changed the room to annex and there everything was perfect.

Review 91:For the price paid I would have expected complimentary mineral water in the rooms.

Review 92:Lobby, breakfast and bar areas. All staff very polite, helpful and friendly.

Review 93:Airco was hot in 1st day, we booked 2 rooms and we have to wait for couple of hours before we were allowed to change another room. First the reception suggested us to turn off, open window and wait 30 minutes. After that turn on airco again.

Review 94:Quick arrangement with check in, reception and check out.

Review 95:only issues. I would have preferred a stocked mini-bar for cold drinks instead foyer fridge Pillows were very soft - I would have preferred a firmer choice

Review 96:I liked ambience of property - quiet , reserved. staff very in bar area very nice.

Review 97:Shower pressure is too low. It makes uncomportable for me. I could not remove my tired.

Review 98:Others facility mach for value of money except for shower low pressure

Review 99:we sat down at the cafe to rest a bit and take something to drink, but the waiter was rather unfriendly. That was the only bad experience in the hotel

Review 100:I especially loved my bed haha! And the little soaps as well. The staff for in and out check were very friendly, and they even kept our suitcases for us before checking in and after checking out. Me and my friend were very happy with this!

Review 101:There is nothing to dislike about this hotel

Review 102:Spacious rooms Beautiful lobby with gorgeous bar and free coffee to go Very efficient staff Although a large hotel with many guests, there was never a sense that it was too busy

Review 103:It is understandable to be given a twin room even though it was requested strongly during the reservations that double bed is preferred on a peak period. I was told that the property is fully-booked during the time (though you can still book online). Internet was not working after I checked-in. I used the computer in the business center and it was configured for like 4 minutes and no internet again. Upon check-in, my credit card was blocked for the full-stay amount (I stayed for 4 nights) as normal procedure. I was told that it will be reversed 3 days after check-out. On my second night, I booked another room for a night and again my credit card was blocked for that particular night-stay. I paid cash for that particular booking and was told that 3 days after the blocked amount will be reversed. When I checked out (on the 4-night booking), the reception swiped my credit card again (i.e., now it was twice swiped, blocked amount upon check-in and charged amount on check-out) for the payment of the 4-night stay, Again, was told that afer 3 days, the blocked amount will automatically be reversed. It has been 9 days (for the 1-night stay and 8 days for the 4-night stay), since I check-out of the property and until now the amount blocked for both reservations are still not reversed and credited back to my credit card. Different staff of the hotel sent me email regarding the blocked amount and they have not given me any concrete solution on the issue. I have contacted my credit card company and they advised that the hotel should be the one to release the blocked amount. I was even told in an email by their 'Asst. Front Office Manager' that 'there is nothing we can do more about this issue' and 'your local bank will be responsible for the final solution'. This response is so unacceptable in the hospitality industry. This is the worst customer service statement I've ever heard.

Review 104:I changed the room 2 times, hope to have a working a/c with no Luck! I heard that they have this problem all the year, but they lie to people and tell them we will fix it tomorrow we don't have technical today. They didn't give me adapter I have a UK chargers, They pretend looking for one and then they said "Sorry we don't have, would you like to buy one with 8 Euros?"

Review 105:Room 901 is opposite the staff entrance to staff facilities and there is a constant banging of the Door as staff go in and out, that was the only irritation

Review 106:Minimal toiletries provided, only shampoo and showergel. Shower has no curtain, so when showering the bathroom can get a bit wet. Expected more compared to the price of a night.

Review 107:Staff was very helpful and spoke english. Room was clean.

Review 108:The fact that you have to pay extra everytime.15 euro per person for going to the swimming pool also parking 22 euro per night for that price that just insane.Furthermore, They have old room with broken air conditioner you will only have the nice room if you book the executive room.

Review 109:They have really good location thats all I can say.

Review 110:The Dussledorf break was excellent but on the Saturday night when going into a really packed bar on the strip,I was pick pocketed, taking 60€ out of my jeans pocket,

Review 111:Hotel is excellent value for the money we paid and easy access to bars and restaurants near the Rhine, either by tram, train or taxi.

Review 112:There is no wall at the head-end of the bed, so you can't push the pillow against anything and it keeps sliding away from under your head.

Review 113:The area is really nice with a lot of Japanese restaurants nearby.

Review 114:Invasive housekeeping. Knocked on our door each day at 8 am, on departure day 8 am and 10 am. Complained to front desk. Answer: Put the do not disturbe sign all the time and they will not disturbe you. Very strange and unusual attitude.

Review 115:Locatiion, facilities, flair

Review 116:-Wifi did not work the first day arrived and was capped at low speed once it worked.

Review 117:-Great and helpful staff -Location is great, in the middle of the Japanese quarter. -Rooms are clean and modern.

Review 118:Breakfast cost EUR 25pp but it was my own fault that i did not include it in the original booking

Review 119:Friendly staff. Convenient parking. Great comfortable family room. Nice spa and swimmming pool. Great breakfast. Ok wifi. Speed could be faster but it was ok. Highly appreciated gesture: 2 free water bottles and apples and bananas. This is an inexpensive additional feature that i would wish more hotels would adopt! Nothing more to wish for.

Review 120:Although I requested a room with a double bed, it was not available and some equipment in the room are getting old (although they are kept very clean). Breakfast is a bit overpriced (25 EUR per person per day).

Review 121:The location is great, especially for those who would like to eat Japanese restaurants and buy Japanese food (lots of restaurants and cafes nearby). Staff was friendly enough. The room was very clean, and the breakfast was delicious.

Review 122:Except for the rooms - we got a special rate - a bit pricey, particularly the breakfast.

Review 123:Service is impeccable; rooms are well-equipped but not too large, particularly bathrooms; Spa area with Finnish and steam sauna, sanarium and swimming pool on the top floor are great; Japanese restaurant "Benkay" is superb, particularly the private tatami rooms.

Review 124:Climate control in the room did not work, even after the assistance of a staff member. Room was uncomfortably hot.

Review 125:Clean facilities Tidy room and lobby Comfy bed

Review 126:Breakfeast because of the coffee, after the breakfast ı had a stomackache and feel really bad for five hours.

Review 127:Helping me while changing my wrong reservation.

Review 128:Love the Niko hotel ... Perfectly close @ walking distance to the old city center, all facilities of good quality and comfort, nicely quiet, nice atmosphere

Review 129:Spa facilities limited, in terms of charge each day plus what was on offer whilst visiting

Review 130:Conveniently located for main station, transport links and town centre. Loved in house Japanese restaurant. Pleasant and efficient staff

Review 131:no Japanese breakfast without reservation. one staff at the reception negolected a request to change a broken water-heater-pot, I caught a cold and it was very hard for me to wait for 30 mins and found it was negolected

Review 132:good location, close to shopping centers and many Japanese restaurants.

Review 133:Charge E15 to use workout facility. Parking in garage another E22.

Review 134:Friendly staff, nice lobby, comfortable bed, quiet rooms, amazing teppanyaki restaurant. WiFi free but just barely ok for email.

Review 135:the very bad wifi, the bad conditions of the room, the luck of cleaning .after so many visits to this hotel for last 12 years i find it in very bad situation .for a five stars hotel also i was made a fight to have the two rooms me and my wife and my childrens room nearby.although i had make the sugestion on my booking form

Review 136:the spa.was ,as always very good very relaxing and the pool exceptional

Review 137:Internet was annoying to navigate. You had to log in every time you got back to the hotel, rather than it connecting automatically.

Review 138:Everything was within walking distance.

The Fine Print
