Reviews for Pudu Lodge
Review 1:on the edge of town, should have taken a taxi because the streets aren't paved there. tough on the luggage
Review 2:nice setting, very comfortable room and the people working at the desk were kind, professional, and very nice would definitely stay there again
Review 3:- Pudu Lodge was not easy to find in El Chalten (it is located at the far end). The building itself looked not as nice as expected and the service staff was not exactely welcoming and not very friendly. - Wi-Fi did not work for most of the time and nobody cared to fix it. - Be aware that you need to pay cash! This can mean a hassle since cash is not always available at the ATM in El Chalten. - In my opinion, the Pudu Lodge is a little overpriced.
Review 4:- Rooms were very clean and spacious. - Nice bathroom incl. tub. - Breakfast was excessive for Argentine standards (however, you are not allowed to take any food from the buffet for after breakfast).
Review 5:Wifi is really slow but seems normal for El Chalten, and the hotel is a bit far away from the city centre (but close to the Fitz Roy path)
Review 6:Comfortable room with everything you need, very helpful and friendly staff and good breakfast buffet
Review 7:Rooms are a bit dated, and scuffed up. The wifi is pretty non-existent. Before a long day of hiking breakfast could include more than just toast.
Review 8:The location is right near the main road, and there is plentiful hot water.
Review 9:Location is best if you only plan to do the trail, else you will walk at least 2km back and forth for dinner. No real mountain view from the rooms. Rooms are very "worn" and need a paint. Washing Basin isin the bedroom, not the bathroom. The whole hotel is extremely clairaudient I.E. You hear every cough of your neighbour. Even if someone walks past, the floor is vibrating. One day cleaning was not done before 6pm and done extremely poorly. All in all a nice hotel but way too expensive for what you get for my taste.
Review 10:Absolutely lovely and helpful staff at the reception, hotel literally just 200m away from Fitz Roy trail, spacious rooms, good variety of breakfast (bread, waffles, jams, cereals, cheese, ham, coffee, tea)
Review 11:Hotel is always too hot to the point that we had to have our room window open whenever we were in it. Hotel requires maintenance to be done on it: our room sink taps were loose and prone to falling off, the soap dish fell off the wall so I fixed it, the radiator valve in the batroom was completely broken and stuck on fully on, the window catch was broken. Other than the free breakfast everything else to eat/drink is prohibitively expensive.
Review 12:Reasonably cheap (by El Chalten) standards for a nice hotel. Good buffet style breakfast of cereals, tinned fruit, breads, waffles, jams, cheese/ham, biscuits, cake. Friendly helpful staff.
Review 13:The building has some worn out edges which didn't bother us at all. Furthermore its not that free-standing as the pictures are telling.
Review 14:The Pudu Lodge was an excellent base for us to stay a few days in El Chalte. We specially enjoyed the comfortable large beds and the hot, strong showers. For us it was well located at the end of towns main road close to the very recommended Restaurant El Muro. Breakfast was fine for being in Argentina. We would come back here.
Review 15:Very hot in public areas, standard unexciting breakfast with tinned fruit and watery juice/cordial. A TV in the room would be nice!
Review 16:Well located for hiking trails, nice sized room, good shower with plenty of hot water
Review 17:-Long way to walk from the bus station to the hotel, it is about 15 minutes of walking, it can be exhausting with all the suitcases and there are no casual taxis on the street of "El Chalten"
Review 18:-Friendly & helpful staff -Clean & comfortable rooms -Ok breakfast -Nice & quiet atmosphere -For an additional small fee you can get an efficient lunch box for the trek -Close to the begining of the "Laguna de Los Tres" trail
Review 19:Very slow Internet, but apparently that´s true throughout El Chalten.
Review 20:Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Great access to hiking trails. Very comfy king bed.
Review 21:Our room was a bit hot until we worked out how to turn down the underfloor heating.
Review 22:Great location, near the trekking trails and a lovely bread shop and restaurant. Staff great. Spacious and airy.Really enjoyed out stay here. Breakfast was great.
Review 23:- due to the contstruction of the building, on sunny days, it is too hot in the rooms on the second floor and airco/heating is not working as it should be .. - slow WIFI
Review 24:- private parking - location in El Chalten
Review 25:Friendly service, great atmosphere and located right by two essential trailheads. Rooms are clever, with just the right amount of luxury for a hiking haven!
Review 26:I can't think of anything I didn't like
Review 27:Located next to two major trail heads Friendly and attentive staff Nice breakfast buffet Reasonably priced A well- designed hotel!
Review 28:One of our rooms seemed quite hot, despite our leaving the window open as much as possible. The weather is incredibly gusty, so cracking a window is not a good idea! The town roads are unpaved at the Pudu end of town, so if you are pulling a suitcase, plan to take a taxi, even though it's not that many blocks.
Review 29:The reception and breakfast room is stunning. Our rooms were furnished comfortably, and the breakfast buffet was quite good. There are good restaurants nearby, since Pudu does not have a restaurant. Actually, the staff gave us very good suggestions, and was great in ordering a large enough taxi for our group. The desk staff also ironed out potential problems for us at our next hotel, which we appreciated very much. We'd go back - the hiking is world-class! Also, look for the artisanal ice cream place in town - terrific!
Review 30:Friendly,helpful staff. Comfortable accomodation
Review 31:Many things broken in the room: hair drier, light bulbs, not very clean
Review 32:The staff were so friendly and helpful
Review 33:Did not have a bad experience.
Review 34:Location next to trails. Good breakfast.
Review 35:Nice hotel with good facilities. Great staff
Review 36:Really close to the trailheads for the major hikes. Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet. Nice breakfast.
Review 37:Right next to the trails, excellent breakfast, clean
Review 38:Internet speed (not hotel fault)
Review 39:Quality room Heating in room Quiet location
Review 40:Staff were so friendly and helpful and made our stay a truly fine one. Access to trails is excellent.
Review 41:The staff was great, the rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Good breakfast. Very reasonably priced. On our two week trip to Patagonia, we stayed in 4 different hotels, and it was the nicest and yet the least expensive. Would highly recommend. The only disadvantage is that it is on the north end of town, at the opposite end of town from the bus station. If you don't have a car, you have to walk a little further to the center of town. However, the town of El Chalten is only 1.5 long. Having said that, we had some great restaurants very nearby the hotel. We had a car, so the location was not an issue for us.
Review 42:Very far from bus station, but near one of the trail heads. Room is hostel quality despite nice looking exterior.
Review 43:One of the more affordable, non-hostel options. Nice desk staff. They hold your belongings even after check out so you can keep hiking.
Review 44:Way to far from bus station. Etreme end of town. I didn't know taxis were available until the last day. And the rate .
Review 45:Outstanding breakfast. Was close to trails. Nice views. Felt secure.
Review 46:Too far from bus station and no shuttle or way to get to or from than walking.
Review 47:This a newer building and is well worth the fee. Some hotels in town are nicer but lots more money. A hostel would have been cheaper.
Review 48:I was checking the post then book the place, but. I was really dispoint, bad service, bad room, but expensive
Review 49:I can't say if this was the case for all rooms, but my room was incredibly stuffy, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep.
Review 50:The staff were excellent. They helped us cancel a hotel in El Calafate (we chose to stay an extra day in Pudu), they helped set up a bus pickup for the airport, and they were convivial, professional, and friendly. The restaurant is quite good, and the breakfast service is better than you'll find in most other places. We had returned from a 5 day trek through the area, the clean rooms and hot water showers were very much welcome. The laundry service was cheap (60 Arg$) and very good, considering I gave them half a ton of my clothes plus my jacket and gloves to wash, I was amazed at the cost. Would definitely recommend. It may not be the cheapest solution, but if you're looking for a nice, new, comfortable place with good service, then don't hesitate to choose Pudu.
Review 51:The bathroom had some smell coming from the drainpipe and internet was really slow (not only here, in the whole Chaltén as it works through satellite).
Review 52:Super helpful staff, always available to help. On the other side from the bus station, but just at the start of the trekking path. Nice breakfast.
Review 53:We were disappointed with the view from the window of our downstairs room (we were told that there were no other rooms available).
Review 54:The hotel was located close to one of the starting points for walks up into the mountains, the room was big and spacious and we liked the common areas.
Review 55:Somehow they couldn't find our booking, we booked 2 nights instead of 1. There was no problem in the end since they had enough rooms.
Review 56:We took a bus from El Calafate, and the bus dropped us in front of the hostel, 1 block from the hotel which was very convenient. Staffs were friendly, but the room was ordinary. There was nothing special about, but clean, had basic things. Hotel was located very close to the hiking path, so we were happy that we didn't have to walk much especially after a big hike to see Mt. Fitz roy.
Review 57:Very thin walls, so can hear doors being shut and toilets being flushed next door. It's a trek to the centre of town.
Review 58:Good location as the lodge is close to trek routes. Good selection of food at breakfast. Nice ambience with the log burner. Good size bedroom and sink is separate to the shower/toilet room.
Review 59:There was some confusion with our reservations so we got a room with two twin beds instead of a queen. We ended up pushing the two beds together so it was fine.
Review 60:Staff was very friendly and helpful. They even picked us up from the bus station which saved us cab fare. Breakfast was good considering the price and especially when compared to other places we stayed at in Argentina. Rooms have heated floors, the hotel is located pretty much at the trail head for Fitz Roy which was nice
Review 61:- no tv in the room - a little lack of care of details (eletric wire, paint with spots)
Review 62:The super friendly and helpful staff. Close to the main trekking paths Very good breakfast.
Review 63:Distance to the village center can be a bit challenging when it is windy, but you are here very close to the main trekking paths into the park.
Review 64:Nice atmosphere in the main room where breakfast was served. There is also a cosy TV corner in the upper level. Staff was always very helpful and friendly. Rooms are spacious and the king size bed in the double rooms are just great!
Review 65:In general everything was perfect: the staff is friendly and helpful, the room is clean, the breakfast is above average and the hotel is close to the main tracks
Review 66:They didn't always clean our room. They didn't replace toiletpaper, towels, etc. the breakfast wasn't good. It was the worstbreakfast we had during our 3 weeks in Patagonia. We had the impressionthat the owner was cutting corners in order to pay for the addition tohis hotel.
Review 67:The woman at the front desk was very helpful with hiking information andtelling us about the town.
Review 68:a bit pricey for what you get. $75/night would have been a deal. $90/night is a bit much.
Review 69:place is close to perfect. loved the warm slate floors under my bare feet, and the spare, zen style design of my room. staff is great, and lodge is at edge of town, very convenient to fitz roy trail, hipo nino (great empanadas), a wonderful bakery and el blanco domo (great salads). not cheap, but otherwise perfect.
Review 70:it s a walk from the bus terminal, but once you are at the lodge it is perfecly located for hiking
Review 71:situated directly at the beginning of the trails to laguna de los tres and mirador maestri helpful staff nice big rooms with clean and up dated bathrooms
Review 72:There were strong noises from the bathroom venta of the adjacent rooms or something similar during the night. Very disturbing.
Review 73:Room and lobby are nice. Staff frienfly and speak good English. Location is okay at the edge of town but also at the Fitz Roy trailhead and the town is very small anyhow.
Review 74:They didn't have a room for more than one night! (and were a bit above my price range but still good value)
Review 75:Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice commonroom area to dine in, good breakfast included savoury things and wholemeal bread.
Review 76:The first couple of nights we heard very loud noises during the night (turned out to be the water pump) which kept us up, and the thermostat was broken. This was resolved once we moved to a new room.
Review 77:Rooms were very nice and comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful.
Review 78:Noisy from the rain, had to ask for another room.
Review 79:Nothing.
Review 80:Nice hotel with very friendly staff and good atmosphere. Best shower so far in Argentina. Good WIFI.
Review 81:Lovely room with high ceiling, bathroom with bathtub, friendly staff, everything very clean, close to the trekking trails. Just perfect!
Review 82:Good hotel quality, friendly hostel atmosphere. Nice food. Good location, just a bit outside the centre of El Chalten
Review 83:Staff was very friendly and helpful in recommending some fun places to eat and helping me find a few things around the small town.
Review 84:Food Cleanliness in the room (longstay)
Review 85:friendliness of the staff Size of the room (big)
Review 86:Staff was very helpful.
Review 87:The lobby is dark, the smell, the room, the service all disappointted us. 100%cancellation fee.
Review 88:restaurant was not yet open (only from 1 november), but we did not know
Review 89:good firm bed, good wifi-reception even in the room,
Review 90:Nothing!
Review 91:Everything. Pleasant accommodating staff, terrific location, nicely developed lodge.
Review 92:It is being expanded right now so when you first pull up, it looks closed.
Review 93:It was a very pleasant hotel. Clean, great staff, good location
Review 94:Excellent staff. Big beds. Loved the place
Review 95:no tv in rooms, at the time of our stay, the wheather was really good and it was very hot in the room.
Review 96:big rooms, modern, very clean
