Reviews for Hotel Communal
Review 1:bathrooms look like a spaceship. bit overpriced for this reason, breakfast was ok but not amazing
Review 2:location, cozy room, nice staff, nice restaurant (alhtough quite expensive)
Review 3:The people have spoiled us, first with our beautiful room with a stunning view and also at the restaurant they didnt stop. Amazing food and great efforts.
Review 4:The WiFi was briefly down on evening but the hotel staff immediately corrected the problem when notified.
Review 5:The multilingual staff are helpful and friendly. The hotel restaurant offers a nice selection of delicious meals and wines. The hotel and restaurant manager, in particular, has a fantastic knowledge of local and regional wines and makes every guest feel very welcome.
Review 6:We were at the hotel Communal in Feburary and we had a really good time there. The people and the personal there are very friendly. You have to taste the fondue in the restaurant of the hotel. It's very delicious. :) You can reach Champèry by train within 10 minutes. :) I would everyone propose to go there!! :)
Review 7:Very hard to highlight anything. For a sense of balance i would say the shower in our room was a little small (but plenty of piping hot water).
Review 8:Superb, warm, friendly, accommodating staff; nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The owners have a real passion to run a good business, to provide comfortable and modern accommodation whilst protecting the character of the hotel, to provide excellent food and drink (especially wines), whilst honouring local customs and traditions. Excellent wi-fi, even in the bedrooms. Easy parking right outside. I wrote in advance with several specific requests and they were all honoured. Given we stayed during the busy half term week at the height of the ski season the accommodation was excellent value for money. Spotlessly clean.
Review 9:Warm welcome and very nice place. We stayed in an other hotel in Chatel, it wasn't at all the same services and hospitality than in Switzerland for even not so much more expensive.
Review 10:The bathroom in our bedroom was a little small; however, the cozy and bright room made up for any inconveniences in this regard.
Review 11:The staff were friendly and very accommodating from the moment we arrived. The food in the restaurant is unique, beautifully presented and very delicious. We would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to stay in this area. Thank you to the Director, Per-Henrik Masson, for accommodating us and adding such a personal touch to our stay.
Review 12:--- we only stayed one night, I would have stayed longer if we had known it wass such a great place...
Review 13:The room was spacious, well-insulated, clean, practical with awesome valley views. The hotel is perfect for both valley- and mountain activities. Les Closets is 5 minutes away; the thermal baths are a 2 minute drive, or a nice 10 minute walk downhill. The hotel owner's hospitality, desire to help...and offer of several local wines...was very welcome. The restaurant is very popular, but we were made welcome as guests of the hotel. The lamb, from local alpine flock, was particularly delicious. Our children were very welcome. All in all, perfect for stays in the area, short or long.
Review 14:Batroom & shower stall very small. Management should inform customers their restaurant, but specifically that the reception area is closed on Sunday nights, during this time of the year.
Review 15:Lovely location in Val D'illiez with an oustanding view of the Les Dents de Midi mountain range. Very close to hiking areas & other small towns in the area. Staff was very professional & courteous.
Review 16:Excellent. I enjoyed to stay in this hotel, the staff is so kind. The situation is the middle of the village is perfect. I would really recommend this hotel.
Review 17:Nothing - loved it.
Review 18:We found this place on this website and with no referral. What an absolute surprise. It was just beautiful. Large room with kitchenette and small bathroom. Plenty cupboard space. The view of the Alps from our window was magnificent. Even though it is summer, the mountain tops were covered in snow. Breakfast was included which consisted of cereal, fruit, croissants, ham, cheese and great coffee. I would love to come back in Winter. The owner/manager was most helpful and wrote a list of places to see and things to do.
Review 19:Size of Bathroom. Nearby traffic. Noise from restaurant during evenings.
Review 20:Awesome view. Friendly staff. Excellent food.
Review 21:near to skiing and thermal baths, good view from room and nice staff
Review 22:Excellent staff, very nice restaurant, beautiful view
Review 23:location, spacious rooms, great restaurant
Review 24:hotel located in a nice and quiet town, hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Nice dinner and breakfast.
Review 25:Bathroom a strange kind of plastic box. Breakfast rather basic, unimaginative and not very generous. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was poor - dry, over- cooked fish, soft and greasy 'frites de la mason', greasy over-cooked sliced carrots and courgette,.
Review 26:Room was quiet, once the traffic on the road through the village stopped in the later evening. Good view.
Review 27:Nothing
Review 28:Excellent (and sophisticated) food in the restaurant. Professionalism and simpathy of the staff (and owner). Location on the heart of the village. Much better option than other ski hotels in the region (more expensive and industrialized) Quality/price relationship
Review 29:It Was very noisy during the carnaval. Be aware if you are coming at that period.
Review 30:I stayed by myself at the hotel during the beginning of March for two days of skiing. The hotel is 10 minutes by train from Champery, right across the train station. The rooms are not fancy, really ok like a family style place. The owner did every thing to make it comfortable for me. Unfortunately the restaurant was close for the only evening I had free, a big miss. During the first night they had a festival at the hotel and right out side of the hotel as well all night long. Can be nice to be in.
Review 31:Could do with a bigger shower, but still comfortable!
Review 32:The room was small, but comfortable and clean. Visually very nice - it was a pleasure to go back to after an active day. Breakfast rather simple (bread, slice of ham, slice of cheese, jam, fruit - for me absolutely sufficient, though nothing fancy), once followed with a delicious apple cake!
Review 33:There was nothing to dislike as this was just a stopover for us. We just slept 6 hours in the room. It's clean. The hotel is located in the heart of the village. The staff is friendly.
Review 34:It would have been nice to have a glass in the room to have some water (and brush my teeth) not just a bottle. Also, a small cloth to wash one's face is nice. The internet connection dropped at midnight & did not come back on until morning. This was a bit annoying as I was working late but as I was only there one night, not a real issue.
Review 35:Location was fabulous, as was the very welcoming staff. The room was basic but provided what I needed. Very comfortable bed as well.
Review 36:Breakfast was a bit spartan, but was fine for me.
Review 37:Room was clean and comfortable. Good internet connection. Food in the restaurant is great quality, but expensive and there is little option to go elsewhere as the village is up in the mountains. There is a very friendly feel about the place.
Review 38:need to be aware restaurant and bar is shut on Sunday and Monday, and there is no lounge area in the hotel
Review 39:Staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. Ideal base for the Portes du Soleil with Morgins 15 mins away, and Chatel 25 mins without having to pay the prices of hotels in those resorts.
Review 40:Nothing!
Review 41:We were pleasantly surprised to stay at the Hotel Communal as our original hotel couldn't fulfill the reservation. We were warmly greeted by the owner and he made sure that the rooms fit our family's need. The restaurant attached to the hotel was fabulous -- a great place to relax after skiing in Champery. Also, a more than ample breakfast in the morning to fill up our teenage boys! Certainly will recommend and look to stay again if in the Portes du Soliel area.
Review 42:Easy access to Les Closets and Champery gateways to the Port du Soleil (over 500kms piste skiing) Good food/wines and great friendly service
Review 43:Really friendly and a part of the local village community
Review 44:Breakfast was good, but sliced bread was rather stale and dry. They should offer fresh rolls and croissants.
Review 45:Cleanliness, comfort.
