Reviews for Hotel Stil Cartagena

Review 1:Some rooms are noisy at night, as there is a sports bar on the main floor of this building, with loud music and cheering on the street...but on request, we were given quiet rooms.

Review 2:Staff were super friendly, accommodating and courteous; they really went out of their way to be helpful. We are personally grateful for their excellent service!

Review 3:Hotel is old compare to other one I stayed at in Cartagena and in Colombia in general. With this price can get something nicer in the area. Expect simple bed, clean room and nothing more.

Review 4:Helpful staff. Good breakfast. Location not bad, easy walk to old town.

Review 5:The bed very unlikely to sleep on it, tough mattress as well the pillows (some kind of dure sponge) and a bad smell all the time in the room.

Review 6:Good location close to the Old City.

Review 7:All the Staff was so friendly & helpful. They speak English and could help me with everything - excellent. Location is also very good, but not in the touristic area, which i liked (no worries at night!).

Review 8:I didnt have any bad experience, in the contrary, I want to come back to this hotel to enjoy visiting Cartagena and Colombia. I love that country.

Review 9:About my stay what I liked the most was the location of Hotel Still since it is in the historic area of the city and every thing is close from the hotel, no necessary to rent a car because you can walk around the area and there is so much to see in the old part of the city that you would easily spend a week walking a visiting places of lovely colonial architecture, beautifully decorated restaurants, bars, the Caribbean Sea is steps from the hotel too, as well as the museums, etc, etc, etc. The staff of the hotel is excellent, they are so sweet and always ready to help you out. The hotel is an old building, not a luxury place, but it is so clean inside. The City of Cartagena is a noisy place but....it is peaceful and silent by night. I would definitively come back to this hotel more and more times. I really got in love with Colombia and its colorful culture.

Review 10:The biggest disadvantage of this place is its location. It's very busy place, drivers are just crazy. You need to be very careful outside. I didn't leave this hotel after midnight.

Review 11:I have mixed feelings about this hotel. I mean, the staff was great - helpful, friendly and they speak English. Hotel is pretty old but it's clean and safe. Price was very good and I had everything in my room: cable TV, air conditioning (be careful with it, Cartagena is very hot and humid, I was sick after that trip), own bathroom. Hotel is very close to the old town, City's Walls are just across the street, you can get to the Castle in 5 minutes by walk. You can have ocean view from your room.

Review 12:Very old hotel, lack of feeling secure - old doors with latches from the previous century. I was given towels not properly washed, the fridge was making impression as noone cleaned it since ages. Beyond all of that, there was a leakage from a ceiling in the toilet.

Review 13:Only good point is a location of the hotel, walking distance to most of the places.

Review 14:please please be aware of a few things before you stay here. I booked this hotel for 3 nights. I read the reviews, it was close the walled city. What the reviews didn't say. The road leading to the hotel is like driving through the red light district at night. We had a room that over looked the front (as they all do) and there were bottles being smashed, it was so loud with locals shouting and so many homeless people begging outside. If you want to venture out at night do not take a thing with you. Stuff some money down your undies! The breakfast was terrible. The only thing that was edible was the scrambled egg, but first you have to dig the shell out of it! There were cereal if you like coco pops and frosties! I have travelled for the last 7 months and stayed in some pretty basic places but I would not pay £20 a night for this place. You can pay slightly more and I mean slightly and get such a better place in the walled city! We left after only one night, due to the fact I did not feel safe walking around the outside of the hotel at night, with the bottles being smashed, the room smelt so heavily of bleach it gave us both headaches and the bed well it wasn't a bed it was like sleeping in concrete. We both had to use our pillows under our hips! The other thing to be aware of if you don't speak Spanish. They take the money straight off your card when you check in. On booking.com it says you pay in local currency when you arrive or depart! Here no - which means for us foreigners we get charged a hefty fee from our banks to do this. When I complained and said I wanted to pay in cash the lady just said she could not do a refund! The service is not good. Like I said please look for a better place to stay then here so you have a nice stay. It is so hot in Cartegena it is nice to be able to get out of the mid day sun and relax in your room for an hour! I did not even want to sleep in that room let alone relax in it!

Review 15:Nothing

Review 16:Small elevators that were very busy. The bed was marginal . Little things like door locks difficult to unlock, my safe did not work, rooms and common areas needed some TLC .

Review 17:I liked the location , staff was nice and the food was good .and things seemed very clean. For the money it was ok overall.

Review 18:Great place! This is amazing for the price and compared to the othe hotels outstanding. Great room cleaning service, good air conditioning, clean and enjoyable. Good buffet breakfast

Review 19:it's very basic and shabby to the point it's not even value for money, it could definitely do with with an update.

Review 20:location just outside the wall city, decent breakfast

Review 21:I didn´t like the noise around the building people can´t sleep at nigth.

Review 22:the breaktfast, the attention I received from all employees especialty from the housekeepers in 10th floor.

Review 23:Internet speed reduced during peak times. As you should know the number one requirement in a hotel is fast internet access. Location, comfort and price all fall after it.

Review 24:Comfortable, clean, located close to everything and the staff all friendly.

Review 25:I did not like the bed it was the most uncomfortable bed , all it had was boards and a foam mattress. For extended stay I will spend more money for a nicer room with a good bed.

Review 26:I liked the location and the food was good breakfast was excellent ! The price was good.

Review 27:It's a quite noisy area. So definitely stay on the top floors (floor 8-10). No list of things in mini bar(that wasn atwfilled filled up) the beginning - - so was overcharged at end!

Review 28:Very good location - near old city and near hostels and nice restaurants. No hot water... But really wasn't missed because Cartagena is so hot!

Review 29:Breakfast room is very uncomfortabel due to the smelling air condition. Rooms could be cleaner but ok for SA.

Review 30:Very nice staff, nice view and location. Close to all important parts of the city. Nice food on the breakfast Buffet.

Review 31:The cost and the location. Wanted a cheap place to stay but not in a dorm....this provided for our needs. Breakfast was plentiful and varied so added to the value for money.

Review 32:Bed was like a rock - we still managed to sleep on it despite this. Only cold water available, this is fairly standard for the region, but it's something that is good to know beforehand.

Review 33:Helpful, English speaking front desk. Fair breakfast, close to old city, overall a pleasant stay.

Review 34:Nothing really - it's a good cheap hotel. The Ritz it ain't. ps this is not a good hotel for fussy travelers - it's in a busy square in a slightly funky area.

Review 35:Inexpensive and close to everything, plus the higher rooms have great views. Plus, there were a lot of domestic Colombian tourists at the hotel, so the feel was very local and not just foreign tourists.

Review 36:I actually have to lay blame to booking.com as they pride themselves on inspecting each property before allowing them to join their site. No WiFi. Only on the second floor where there were only 4 seats. Room was very dated, and very musty. The bed was as hard as sleeping on a concrete floor. Not just cold showers, freezing cold. Could not even use it. Absolute rio off if you ask me.

Review 37:Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 38:Wifi didn't work on 7th floor. They moved us to a different room on that floor where it initially seemed to work. Then stopped after a few minutes. Next night moved to 8 where wifi was good. Lock on the door was broken when we tried to leave for dinner but a locksmith came up and fixed it in ten minutes. Breakfast not very good

Review 39:The staff responded quickly to problems. One young lady at reception was excellent as was one of the bellhops who had to respond to the problems. Had a nice city view

Review 40:Wifi didn't really work, even when mentioned to staff. Was quite noisy at night (music from a nearby venue) although had finished by the time we wanted to sleep.

Review 41:Relatively cheap room compared to cartagena prices, although still think it's expensive compared to even the UK 1pm check out was handy Breakfast was good

Review 42:A\C was excellent Bed was fine Excellent views from our room, we were on the top floor Considering Cartagena is so expensive for a traveller on a budget this hotel provides everything you need to visit the city

Review 43:Air conditioning was out of order. Stopped working. Our room got wet during a storm. Low wifi signal and poor speed

Review 44:Nice people. Very gentle. Near walled city and castle. Good price.

Review 45:Beds are hard as a rock .. should invest in some bed padding for guests.

Review 46:This is the best priced option in Cartagena for the budget traveler. For about $40 you get a bed, a shower, breakfast and walking distance to everything you need to see in Cartagena. Just don't expect more.

Review 47:Double bed quite hard and uncomfortable, could be quite noisy and breakfast wasn't amazing.

Review 48:Perfect location for the old city. Clean hotel and friendly staff.

Review 49:1) Awful location. Not safe for gay male couples. We felt unsafe our entire stay. In fact, we left early because we didnt want anything to happen to us.2) Uncomfortable beds with stains all over them. 3) No hot water. 4) The hotel offered us a door to door service to our next destination that was AWFUL!! What they told us would be a 4 hour trip was over 7 hours!! We will never ever go back to this hotel, and do not recommend it to anyone. Spend the extra money and stay WITHIN the walled city, which is much more safe, and will be worth the extra 100 dollars you will have to spend. Trust me.

Review 50:1) We stayed on the 10th floor. Awesome view.2) Our room had excellent air conditioning. 3) The staff was generally very friendly.

Review 51:Cartagena is a noisy city and you can't escape the beeping horns even on the 10th floor.

Review 52:Close to old city, plenty of places to eat and banks nearby, air conditioned.

Review 53:The beds were the hardest beds we have ever slept on in our lives. We had a single and a double in our room and both felt like we were lying on a concrete slab.

Review 54:Good value for money, friendly staff and clean room. The breakfast was simple but good. The location was perfect to explore the city for a few days.

Review 55:At nigh the Telecom Plaza public lightning was turned off, internet is slow they should enhance their broadband

Review 56:Great view from the 10th floor, nice people in the lobby, breakfast and lunch delicious and great value for money. Really nice specially for few nights, travelers and business in Cartagena.

Review 57:Nothing really

Review 58:Great staff, including cook for breakfast who tried to modify meal based on what we ate the day before. Staff helped udon whatever we requested and made us feel included by making sure we knew where we could watch World Cup matches

Review 59:Honestly nothing. It exceeded my ecpectations.

Review 60:Excellent value for money and welcoming staff. Clean, comfortable and in a good location. Oh and entertainment value from the painting outside the elevator on floor 10 - not sure how that one snuck through the cracks! I definitely recommend this one.

Review 61:Poor clean at the rooms, dirty walls and at the bath room the shower door was en bath condition

Review 62:The location

Review 63:Cleanness, no direct communication with the hotel from your room (you have to call from your cellphone).

Review 64:Location, price per night

Review 65:Basic hotel. Not very clean

Review 66:Friendly staff

Review 67:location, near the historical center

Review 68:The location was perfect near the historical center

Review 69:nothing to right here...

Review 70:value for money

Review 71:Wifi wasn't very good.

Review 72:Breakfast and location were great Cleaning service in room

Review 73:The beds are hard.

Review 74:Large rooms, breakfast, value for money, and location

Review 75:wife good in public places but didnt work in my room

Review 76:tremendous value

Review 77:Wifi only works in lobby not room

Review 78:Most sites in walking distance. All you can eat breakfast buffet

Review 79:Clean, comfortable. Helpful staff. Located within walking distance of old city.

Review 80:Staff was great and helpful

Review 81:BUILDING IS OLD

Review 82:ABOUT LOCATION IS VERY GOOD

Review 83:It is run down. Needs maintenance

Review 84:Staff is nice

Review 85:wifi in rooms didn't work during my stay

Review 86:price, price, clean, and price

Review 87:The rest

Review 88:Location

Review 89:Noisy, uncomfortable, mosquitos in our rooms, NO decor at all.

Review 90:Wifi works okay.

Review 91:Cleanness in the rooms could be better

Review 92:Location, super helpful staff at reception

Review 93:no hot water a little run down

Review 94:low cost - even on NYE good breakfast included nice staff (english speaking) location close to old town

Review 95:Hospitality, cleanliness

Review 96:The service and the attention given by the lady at the reception at the morning time is bad and she is rude

Review 97:The breakfast is the best the hotel offers

Review 98:Great place to stay with great breakfast.

Review 99:WiFi did not work in our floor.

Review 100:Location was very close to walled city, staff, breakfast and value.

Review 101:Noting

Review 102:NADA

Review 103:TODO

Review 104:Could be a bit noisy during the day but not a night.

Review 105:The hotel is well located and is very comfortable with a good bed, air con and a cable tv. The wifi is good too. The staff is also friendly. Most of all, breakfast is great, with a buffet of various dishes. Best price in Cartagena for everything you get.

Review 106:The staff went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable especially Miss Kimberlin Corrales. Will definitely return to Stil Cartagena when visiting Colombia once again!

Review 107:Nothing, really. It's not five-star but you know that.

Review 108:Location was very good for a one-night stop. Close to the walled city and not too far from the beach. Lots of small restaurants nearby. Cheap accommodation.

Review 109:only complaint would be the elevators. They were small and slow, holding a max of 4 people. But, being on the 7th floor they were better than walking up

Review 110:the staff was excellent and went to all lengths to meet or exceed needs. Morning buffet was super and you truly had all you can eat. While we spent ten days we saw a nice variety of juices, and meats. Scrambled eggs were always offered and some days there were hard boiled as well.

Review 111:At night the place where the hotel is situated does not inspire safety .

Review 112:Good break fast cara simple good located there is no hot watter but it is not needed in cartagena

Review 113:The first day I found 2 cocruages in my room. The wifi in the room it's terrible and in my all stay the we're fixing the elevator and the first day I woke up so early cause the sound of the people working

Review 114:The price

Review 115:We expected more of the breakfast buffet, it was ok though. Rooms are characterless, as you can see on the pictures

Review 116:Located in the city center of cartagena, close to everything. Clean, spacious rooms

Review 117:Well first of all air con got broken had to change my room.. I understand it wasnt their foulth, but i didnt liked the way they where sourting it out, i left my sun glasses in the restaurant, asked in reception if any one foun it, she sad shes going to see if any onengound them...never came back to me, on check-out day i cold see just the same looking glasses in theyres office. Took payment twice, had to whait for half an hour till they will sort it out.. Really bad experiance..

Review 118:Good location, nice breakfast

Review 119:The hotel was obviously cared for. Repainted recently and tastefully appointed with good beds, sheets etc. Everything worked well and was cleaned thoroughly. Breakfast was excellent and the location perfect. The price beat every other option by a lot.

Review 120:i liked everything. people who are looking for 5 star amenities will be disappointed.

Review 121:we stayed at 3 different places in cartagena, and this place was by far the best value for what you get. their breakfast is plentiful, it's a great location, and you get a room with air conditioning and a bathroom. if you are budget-minded and are a couple, this is one of the best values in town.

Review 122:Street noise-throughout the day from 7am until about midnight, everyday. The bathroom had a hose with cold water (was advise about no hot water) but the only thing they provide is a bar of soap. The room itself looks more like a hostel and that might have been a better choice.

Review 123:There is nowhere close this hotel has 3*. The only good thing about it was the location, that it had a fridge and air-con. The breakfast was decent as well, in comparison with the look of the rooms.

Review 124:Room was clean, but the wall were a bit scuffed and the red thin blankets that go over the top sheets are not laundered after every guest. The internet connection kept cutting in and out. Overall, still good value.

Review 125:Good location, steps from old city, Getsemani and 15min walk to the Castille. Air conditioning worked well. Breakfast was better than we had in most Colombian hotels and we stayed in many that cost three times what we paid for at the Stil. Not the Ritz but excellent value for the money. Cost to stay for two people is less than what most hostels charge in the area.

Review 126:The facilities are a little old. The cleaning staff started preparing our room for the next guests before checkout time, our stuff was still in the room!

Review 127:The hotel is in a great location to visit the city center by foot. It is a very commercial area where many locals work. The staff is quite friendly. Breakfast is good.

Review 128:The communal corridors were very hot.

Review 129:Good filling breakfast available until 10am. Air con in bedroom. Great location, very central and close to old city. On 10th had lovely few. Fridge in bedroom.

Review 130:Mattress too firm for my comfort. No running hot water in room (don't really need it - 70 to 90 degrees year round, I think.)

Review 131:Close to Old Town. Inexpensive. Free buffet breakfast. Very pleasant staff. High floors have good view. Good location. Very clean. Good, quiet AC.

The Fine Print

Please note that hot water isn't available in the room bathrooms.
