Review 1：The room doesn't have a mini bar, not even to keep a cold water to drink at night.

Review 2：Very nice hotel, close to the main train station, and a few minutes walking from the city center. Bed and shower were very good. The room was very clean and quiet too. Another positive point was the breakfast, which was excellent. Staff very friendly. Overall, the hotel was a good surprise.

Review 12：Nice hotel, very close to the old part of the city. We had a very nice room with the entrance from the small garden. Breakfast was perfect, breakfast area is very nice and cosy. The staff at the breakfast room- perfect! We were lucky to get a free parking near the hotel. there are a lot of restaurants in 10 min walking, located by the channel. we took a boat trip but the walking was much more interesting. The staff at the reception was friendly and nice.

Review 26：The hotelrooms and corridors had a really awful smell. Had to sleep in front of an open window all night. Some kind of obsessional, deep bad smell. Also in the room the sewer just stinked. For moving around, facility was really bad with all the stairs and long and complex corridors. Not a Place for passengers with lots of luggage or with reduced mobility. Also the car places were too slight and hard to get in.

Review 30：This was in a great location, near the Holstentor and the old Town. We could walk to everything. If you come to Lubeck by train, it is also convenient to the train station. The staff spoke excellent English and were the nicest we encountered in our 3 week long vacation. The room was spacious and the beds really comfy. The breakfast was excellent, and included lots of regional foods.

Review 31：the staff wasn't very friendly. the sewer in the bathroom gave off a terrible smell, and the shower should have a bath mat....it was tricky getting in and out without falling!

Review 49：We had 2 rooms booked. The first rooms they gave us, was both on minus 1st floor (basement) with a view directly out into a very small back yard (they called these rooms "quiet rooms to the back garden"). These 2 "quiet" rooms smelled terrible of cigarette smoke. We then got two new rooms, with no or moderate smell of cigarette smoke.

Review 50：No lounge for guests to sit in; there were a few settees scattered along the corridors. Would have liked a room to relax in other than our own bedroom.

Finally, they have a rooms for smokers, if it's important for you :)! Small disadvanteges: no minibar, no facilities for tea making, washing complect is too limited. But it's no matter and ultimately it's a 3 star hotel.

Review 57：The fire escape plan showed a route that would have required us to go up half a floor in a dodgy little staircase, across to another building and then down; if there were a fire, I don't think it would work....

Review 58：Very close to the train and bus station. Excellent breakfast. Charming garden, but it was raining so we couldn't use it. We were given a 'garden view' room, but you'd have to lean out of the window and look down to see it; not worth paying extra for.

Review 65：The hotel is right opposite the train and bus stations but I had a quiet room at the rear of the building. I liked absolutely everything about the hotel. I received a warm welcome, my single room was quite spacious and extremely comfortable, nicely furnished with a very good bathroom - everything spotlessly clean. The staff were kind and friendly and there was a nice atmosphere. The breakfast was exceptionally good and although the dining room was very busy when I went in, there were plenty of staff to replenish the buffet and re-set tables. I thought the hotel was expertly managed with the accent on making sure guests were happy. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Excelsior; it's a really nice place to stay.

Review 67：Been here before and this time we got a better room. We choose this hotel because it's close to the city center. The public parking garage nearby is well worth its €10 a day.
