Reviews for Hotel Regina

Review 1:Superb location, beautiful view, lovely historical feel. Enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the grand dining room and relaxing in the library. We didn't mind the shared bathroom, there was never a lineup. A great budget option that feels rich.

Review 2:The bedroom doors (of which there were two) were very noisy at night when we had to use the common toilet in the hallway.

Review 3:Our room let onto a deck with a gorgeous view of the high alps.

Review 4:If you are a light sleeper you may hear your neighbours if they get up early in the morning. Not that they are loud but the walls seem to be not strong in the sound proof area. This is just the type of accommodations in the area and not specific to this motel. If we were in Murren in the future we would stay here again.

Review 5:The restaurant has great food, service and wine! It is a very clean restaurant and motel. Nice views from both. The shared bathroom and showers were also very clean. Rooms were nice. The motel is an older building with some creaky floors and old style keys to open and lock the room doors but very nice. We loved it.

Review 6:Not a big deal at all...wifi only public areas...but this was advertised

Review 7:Fantastic view from our room. This hotel has real history from the glory days...amazing people stayed here. I loved the character of the place....travel romance. Shared bath but unlimited hot water.

Review 8:If you really need rooms that are soundproof, have wifi and an adjacent bathroom, then you may not want to stay in this hotel. If you are looking for an authentic and charming experience in one of the prettiest villages in Switzerland, then this is your place to be!

Review 9:This is a very special place with lots of charme and style. The hotel has very spacious common areas (an entire floor, in fact), which boosts great views. Lots of space for kids to run around and generally child-friendly. Rooms are spacious and clean, and so are the common bathrooms.

Review 10:We loved everything. We only wished that we stayed here for our entire trip. The atmosphere in Murren was amazing and Hotel Regina was just a classic jewel.

Review 11:It was all pretty great!

Review 12:Really enjoyed the view of the Alps with the deck on the back of the hotel room. The staff was great, and very helpful. Breakfast was fantastic.

Review 13:Pillow was really flat (but same in most Swiss Hotel). Reception is not all hours, restraurant opens limited hours. Breakfast was basic and no hot food. It will tough on warm days as no air conditiong.

Review 14:It is near Cable car connecting train station. Near to cable car station to Scilthorn. Nice view of the Snow Mountains. I stayed in the couple room with toilet. Helpful and friendly staff. Good heating facility to keep warm on cold nights. Right beside supermarket (but no hot food), good for drinks, snacks and fruits.

Review 15:Spectacular view, we were right up in mountains,we had a balcony apartment with 4 beds and mountain view, were upgraded to private bath (had booked with shared bath). Not fancy but not necessary either. Very nice breakfast

Review 16:Breakfast could have been a bit better for the price that was paid - not much selection and service was a bit slow.

Review 17:Great location in the center of Murren and the stunning views from the sun terrace.

Review 18:The bathroom was out dated ,we had to ask for new towels and no one cleaned our room in the 4 days we were there

Review 19:The views from our room were amazing! We had an enormous balcony off of our suite. We would sit out at night in awe.The Regina has old time charm

Review 20:Great location, quiet and comfortable with a nice mountain view at the balcony. The breafast was good with multiple choice. Murren is among the best location for those who want to stay away from noises and crowds of shopping tourists at interlarken area.

Review 21:We had two seperate beds in a farr too small room. No shower or toilet in the room. No place to put our belongings, no table or chairs in the room. The rate for the room is way overpriced. Also for this price you would expect a propper breakfast and it wasn't.

Review 22:The breakfast room is very nice. The view on the mountain great.

Review 23:The only thing we didn't like was the bathroom at the very front of the room itself. Not very much privacy. We would have rather saved out money and gotten a room with a shared bath.

Review 24:This hotel was in the perfect location in town and situated beautifully on the side of the mountain to take advantage of the best views. The common rooms in the hotel were pretty and comfortable and the breakfast room was a delight.

Review 25:The view was fabulous! We loved looking out our windows to see the Alps. The showers were great and we appreciated the attention to the cleanliness of the shared facilities.

Review 26:There is only one gents & ladies each on the floor we stayed so we gotta wait. And they're not labelled in English, hence male guest went into the ladies and vice versa.

Review 27:View was very scenic as we opted for the mountain view room. Staff was helpful & polite. Breakfast was just ok but fair enough to be included in the room price. There is a designated space for guests to leave luggage making it convenient for us to wander around murren before leaving for lauterbrunnen after checking out.

Review 28:A bit noisy within the building. No hot water at night in shower.

Review 29:Great staff, good continental breakfast (coffee and cheese were good), good value for money.

Review 30:Don't expect too much, a room with a sink, table, two chairs, two beds and a closet

Review 31:The view from the dining room is stunning, the landscape is breathtaking and when staying in Mühren you only use your hotel to sleep.

Review 32:Facilities are old, No WiFi in bedrooms, If you arrive after 8 pm (only doable via Stechelberg) you must make arrangements for them to leave the key. You are on your own till the next morning after 7am.

Review 33:Location, friendliness of staff, very helpful. Bed was quite fine! Excellent price.

Review 34:Bed was a bit tough on the support side, but doable for a short stay

Review 35:Enjoyed the proximity to the main thoroughfare and easy to walk to either train station. Can't wait to stay again!

Review 36:Even though we came in late, the hotel staff left instructions and keys for us (just be sure to let them know if you will be late for check in). The shared bathrooms were impeccable and always available- no lines! The beds were comfortable and the views jawdropping. Breakfast was delicious and filling. This hotel really adds the extras that make for a happy stay. Wish we were there longer.

Review 37:Two different beds, Wifi range

Review 38:Room was in the corner and really, it was amazing, wonderful view. Price was pretty good. And best place for the people, who are interested tracking and hiking to Mt. Schilthorn. It is just 2-3 Hrs. Panaromic View, Supporting Staff

Review 39:The breakfast can be better( it is too simple compared with its spacious and beautiful dinning room). And we were there 40min before the end of breakfast time, and the ham and croissant are already finished and they are not recharged anymore...

Review 40:The best window view (directly facing the mountain) that I've ever seen! So beautiful! The location is also quite convenient, 10 mins walking from Murren BLM (the cable car station), next to a COOP supermarket. The shared bathroom and toilet are also very very clean. Very handy.

Review 41:It's slightly far from the Murren station, but it's also close to the cable car to stichlehorn

Review 42:It's a very pretty and nice hotel. Has a great view and very friendly

Review 43:Lovely little old building on the side of a mountain. Offered wonderful views from my shared room and was clean and quiet. I stayed during the week so it was a little deserted but for 80CHF I couldn't have asked for a better stay. Free wifi, and breakfast included added to the charm. Wonderful village of Murren is at your disposal from the front door.

Review 44:rooms were pretty basic and small but that is where the savings come. Perfectly warm and functioning.

Review 45:Location, excellent breakfast, great value for money and helpful staff.

Review 46:-Could have had more bathrooms in the shared facilities -Thin walls (reasonable though, given the age of the property - sort of a double-edged sword given how much charm the old building brought to the rest of the stay)

Review 47:-Very friendly and helpful staff -Beautiful location -Comfortable rooms -Wonderful views from the lounge -Boot heaters in ski room -Decent food -Good local beers and schnapps at the bar -Typical Victorian charm with modern amenities

Review 48:Nothing to dislike for price I'm paying. :)

Review 49:Saw some bad reviews before booking. Went ahead to book anyway due to the good price. The place is really as bad. Rather run down but it's clean and staff was nice. Breakfast was simple, no ham but good was good.

Review 50:If we hadn't upgraded the room we would have been facing the street, rather than the mountains. And it would have helped to have free transport to the hotel from the train station....not that far, but difficult with luggage.

Review 51:The view from our room in the bac,k and from the breakfast room and the deck was just wonderful. Staff friendly and helpful.

Review 52:Poor Internet coverage. The Toilet light switches Off after 10 minutes and leaves it dead dark. The room chair was not very comfy. Need a Tea maker in the room.

Review 53:Value for Money!! Best rate for an Independent room for solo traveller. Terrific location - the views from dining and reading rooms are excellent! Bed was very clean and comfortable Two tables with chair, Clean Towels 1 big window and washbasin Neena at the reception was very helpful and fluent in English. Free Internet

Review 54:It was all good!

Review 55:Great location. Beautiful old building with incredible views of the alps. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent value for the cost.

Review 56:As a budget solo traveller this hotel was perfect for me. The room was basic but comfortable and large, the view spectacular .Breakfast was included and very good. It was very quiet, this prbably changes in the busy season. This hotel must have been grand in its day and I liked its charm. I enjoyed my stay.

Review 57:Breakfast was next to nothing. Had to cross the bathroom to get to the bed room. If one is using the bathroom, the other cannot get out of the bed room. There was no electric point in the room - there was one in the bathroom though. Not all rooms had a balcony though we paid the same price.

Review 58:Excellent location View from the window Friendly staff

Review 59:I did not like at all that the toilet/bathroom areas were common, I don't mind the showering bit so much but the toilets is problematic as they were not really very clean. I travel with disinfectant all the time so that was not a huge problem but still. Also there is no phone in room, in case of emergency. plus there's a stale smell as you walk in, strange. The rooms are clean though, but do not expect a change of towels or daily housekeeping. Reception closes like real early. Breakfast . I paid roughly 90SFR per nights which is not exactly cheap so at little more comfort is expected.

Review 60:I have ambivalent feelings about the Regina. It is a peculiar hotel. Use to be a sanitorium during 2 W.W and has kept this cache of an old victorian house, with crackling floors. I went to Murren for a mental retreat so the fact that there is no TV and other facilities was a plus for me. I booked a double room overlooking a stupendous scenery with a balcony so that was a definite plus. Breakfast is good, but you are charged for a boiled egg. However, I would stay there again, on an off season period. I like the feel to the place. Go without expectations if you can. And enjoy the majestic scenery

Review 61:Only downside was that internet access was not available in our room, so we had to go downstairs to get a signal.

Review 62:We loved the quaintness of the hotel. Would love to know more about the history of the building. Very clean, breakfast good, beautiful view!

Review 63:Would be even better if I got a south-facing room, where I can see the mountains from my room. It's not bad though, since I also have a small balcony outside my room. Breakfast was hostel standard. Have to pay extra for boiled eggs and ham plates.

Review 64:Clean hotel. Nice interior. Amazing views of the mountains during breakfast.

Review 65:Sound proof is not very good, but I think this is normal for an old wood building.

Review 66:It's a easy walk of 10 mins from the Muerren LBM station, in the center of this charming small town. If you're lucky to get a room facing the mountain, the view will amazed you. We got the taste from the dinning hall. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Review 67:Weak Wi-fi in the rooms and generally poor in the evenings. The community bathrooms were also a downside.

Review 68:The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is really good.

Review 69:no tv in the room. wifi is only available in public areas which didn't include the breakfast room.

Review 70:value for money - had a sink in the room and bathroom was right outside our room in the hall. usually prefer proper hotel rooms but this worked especially for the price. breakfast was good as well. Rooms are yours so aren't cleaned daily which could be good or bad depending on yourself. Very safe and clean though with really nice and helpful staff.

Review 71:The bathrooms and showers were a long way from our room. We are a family of five and being forced to get two rooms really puts the price up for us. It would be easy to squeeze a fifth bed in the larger rooms.

Review 72:You can tell the Regina was once a great old hotel with beautiful dining rooms and big windows overlooking the mountains. It was nice enough but probably could use some updating.

Review 73:The shared bathroom. The room had only a sink and a mirrow. The breakfast was poor and awful: just cheese, tetrabrick juice and bad coffe.

Review 74:The village, the views, how quiet it was at the end of the afternoon when all the visitors leave... The personal was nice and appologised for the lack of staff that day.

Review 75:Sharing a bathroom was not awful, but not something I'm used to. There were no others trying to use it when I was, so that was good. But for the value and price, it was acceptable.

Review 76:Price, breakfast, location, staff, beautiful rooms, library, views, nearness to coop grocery store, helpfulness when I needed help.

Review 77:Everything is good except that I couldn't understand why they sold the bottle water at 8 CHF to me which I could get at 1.2 CHF in the store next door.

Review 78:The location is great. Our room faces the snow mountain. We can enjoy the marvelous view from the balcony of our room. The breakfast is great. The staffs are friendly.

Review 79:For the price range, there was nothing not to like

Review 80:Excellent staff were able to rebook us due to poor weather. Beautiful views, great location, quite easy to get to, large (shared) balcony.

Review 81:front double room is fantastic, but many rooms are small without views to the mountains.

Review 82:we needed to leave on the 6:30 AM train before breakfast, and the manager went out of her way to help us and left a lovely to go breakfast with hot water and tea.

Review 83:Can be quite noisy

Review 84:Well located close to the cable car station and many good restaurants, comfortable beds, clean shared bathrooms, good breakfast selection

Review 85:The only thing I can think of as a suggestion would be the wifi connection. We weren't able to use the internet in our room (which was actually quite nice-- to be forced to have a break :). However, we had to check a few things for work. So, it would have been nice if the lobby wifi was a bit stronger/more consistent. But the lobby was lovely and a joy to be in when we had to be online.

Review 86:Staff: Excellent. The receptionist was so friendly and helpful. (Dumb US people we are, we cannot speak German well, so she was nice enough to help us in English.) She even made us dinner reservations. Location: Perfect. Hotel Regina is in a great location in the town. The view out our window of the mountains, valleys, and waterfalls. Breakfast: Fresh and self serve. There was fresh, warm bread each morning (and plenty continually coming out). Juice, water, fruit, yogurt. Various cereals and spreads. My favorite was the delicious muesli. It had fresh berries in it. So good! My husband's favorite was the fresh coffee and tea pots brought to each table individually. The tea selection was nice as well. Cleanliness: Excellent. Privacy: Excellent.

Review 87:The prices in Switzerland are crazy expensive. And, for the price, the accomadations are very sparse, by American standards. But we were not in America.

Review 88:Location was excellent with spectacular view from our bedroom. Very good breakfast. Dinner Saturday night was OK. We had fun dancing to a rock band after dinner.

Review 89:Amazing view!

Review 90:the whole area very quiet, dim lightning and a bit scary at night.

Review 91:very near to mt schithorn, friendly staff amazing scenery good breakfast

Review 92:No bathroom in room--not a major inconvenience, just required some planning.

Review 93:Views, amenities

Review 94:Shame the bar was shut when we were there but it was a Monday and off season so understandable

Review 95:Wonderful views from the breakfast room

Review 96:The price is high, but not for the area I guess.

Review 97:The location, view, and staff were amazing!

Review 98:N/a

Review 99:The hotel is eligent, staff very friendly, phenomenal views, the staff makes you feel right at home

Review 100:Breakfast was very monotonous every day. Even after staying 4 nights the rooms were not cleaned once.

Review 101:Courteous and helpful staff at Reception.

Review 102:Room too small.

Review 103:The hotel is easy to reach, just on downtown, staff was very kind.

Review 104:It's location. It is clean. Staff are friendly.

Review 105:Great location, great staff. Being right next to the Co-op was wonderful.

Review 109:great place, very friendly staff, amazing views. couldn't ask for anything better at such a great price

Review 110:The views from the rooms and restaurant are simply amazing. A good value in a wonderfully quaint ski town.

Review 111:no elevator

Review 112:amazing view that we never knew of

Review 113:hotel regina was very very good. It was an time i will never forget for being a part of this Lovely travel.

Review 114:Once grand hotel now pretty basic and not terribly cheap even given him prices overall in Switzerland

Review 115:Good location for hikes and great breakfast

Review 116:The room had a fantastic view from the balcony, and was quiet. I especially appreciated the elevator since we were on the fourth floor!

Review 117:Only 1 shower room for 2 floors

Review 118:Very good value in an expensive resort. Exceptional views from the terrace.

Review 119:The beds were comfortable. Nice shared living room. Great views!

Review 120:Great mountain view from the terrasse . The staff is very kind.

Review 121:Showers were not on the same floor as our room.

Review 122:The views from the room was unbelievable! The staff was very helpful and very nice.

Review 123:Price, but it's Switzerland what do you expect

Review 124:Clean hotel at a good location

Review 125:The view from the dining hall is stunning. Only hoped we had better weather.

Review 126:The balcony is big and the room is facing to the mountain. The location is easy to find and it's close to the Coop supermarket.

Review 127:having to go down the hall tot he toilet and bathroom, however the sink int he room was good.

Review 128:great old fashioned hotel, excellent location and views

Review 129:nice architecture of the end 19th century, friendly staff, good location
