Reviews for Eiger Guesthouse
Review 1:Breakfast was very poor, in a jam jar there was even mould. Pillows were clumpy- evidently either old or of bad quality. Very narrow ail in the entry. In the whole there was an impression that the stuff we're bored of their work and we're not so diligent... Pity.
Review 2:Not far away from the railway station. A cosy dining room.
Review 3:Not a major issue, but lugging two heavy suitcases up 3 flights of winding staircase (there is no elevator) was a struggle, esp. after nearly 24 hours of traveling to get there.
Review 4:Awesome staff, location, and views. Being immediately across street from train station is very handy. The included breakfast buffet was very good. Murren is amazing, even though we went during low season (later Oct) and most stuff was closed.
Review 5:The bed was extremely hard and the pillows were flat.
Review 6:The rural setting was lovely, but you have to be prepared to far from anything. Room was clean and cheerful.
Review 7:The location of the hotel could not be beat. Can't imagine a better view than the one from our balcony. The staff (particularly Susanna) was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast provided a great start to the day's adventures, and the excellent restaurant allowed a relaxing respite in the evening.
Review 8:Extremely friendly staff who looked after us really well and catered for the dietary requirements of our 11 month old baby. The rooms were basic but comfortable and clean. It was just perfect for our walking holiday.
Review 9:Breakfast was great! The other meals were taken care of mostly from the Grocery Store. Most of the meals in the restaurant were more than we could afford.
Review 10:close to hiking and grocery store. Beautiful, even with the clouds for 3 out of 4 days stay. Room nice- we thought the shared shower and water closet were going to be a problem, but it worked out fine.
Review 11:Nothing bad to report at all, everything was wonderful!
Review 12:Location and price were amazing. Staff was very friendly. Room was extremely clean. We loved our private bathroom (the fact that there was an automatic fan that would turn on and off, a lot of our other hotels in Europe had no fan which would cause towels to get old quick, etc.). The included breakfast was great! Nice selection of breads, croissants, fruit, and cold cut meats. Your classic European breakfast. Dinner at the restaurant was also good. This was by far our favorite place to stay. I hope we can come back again soon.
Review 13:The wifi wasn't very good some devices wouldn't connect and the signal was weak
Review 14:The location across from the train station was great and we had an amazing view from our window and balcony.
Review 15:Not really bad but you should be aware that there is no elevator and some rooms are on fourth floor. Staff was very helpful with luggage
Review 16:Wonderful staff. Very friendly and helpful. A cozy place with a nice vibe.
Review 17:Great location just across the street from the train station. The room was simple and clean. The included breakfast was just adequate, but dinner at the restaurant was excellent and well worth the money.
Review 18:No A/C so we slept with the doors open (in the summer) which was only awkward because our balcony connected to other rooms. Shower was kind of small but works well!
Review 19:The views in Murren can't be beat and waking up to mountains right outside the windows was amazing! We left before breakfast was served both mornings and they let us go in quickly and make a little sandwich, and then the morning we left, they gave us two sandwiches, apples, and juice to take with us.
Review 20:The owners and staff were all wonderfully helpful and welcoming. The room was great as was the view. The food from the restaurant was typically expensive as everywhere in Switzerland but it was very good and there was a wide range of choices for different budgets. Everything was truly outstanding. The breakfast was also quite good.
Review 21:An amazing stay with wonderful staff and fantastic views of the mountains. The owner was so helpful, assisting us with planning where to go for each of our days there. I would highly recommend this hotel and I can't wait to go back!
Review 22:Our second stay at the Eiger Guesthouse. Emma and her staff are so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ample. We've eaten several times at the restaurant and each dish was delicious. This time had a non mountain view room, it was smaller, but very comfortable. Located right across from train station.
Review 23:Nothing bad to say. This particular room had a pair of bunk beds, so it may not be suitable for all travellers. A family or group of 4 may find this room a bit cramped. My floor had a bathroom with his and her stalls, the floor below had a single seater and shower.
Review 24:Location right at the train station. Stunning views. Excellent breakfast. Great staff. Decent internet. My room was the smallest of the 12 they had. It had 2 bunk beds (like being back in camp) and a small balcony with a million dollar view that seats 2 with a small table. Our room had a sink and was a shared bathroom and shower which was always clean and available. The guest house also had a restaurant and games room with a pool table.
Review 25:Ema and the staff are great and really make you feel at home with their attention to detail, friendliness, and hospitality. Make sure to eat at their restaurant that serves up delicious food and drink. This was my favorite hotel out of many during my trip to Switzerland!
Review 26:Does not have elevator. The bunk bed was tough. It is a guesthouse so if I need to ask about something, I really have to look for the staffs. Restaurant was not full at all yet they seated us next to other occupied table while there were lots of available table. When we finished the meal, those tables were still not taken. The room with the mountain view that I got did not have balcony (some do and some don't have it).
Review 27:Breakfast was ample. Wifi is good. The hotel is next to train station.
Review 28:Extremely friendly and helpful staff. We started our honeymoon in Murren and they worked with us when our Intl flights got delayed. Amazing views in a beautiful town! We loved it! The bar downstairs is also open later than most in the town. Great to grab a drink at the end of your day and stare at the "big three" as the sun sets on them.
Review 29:There was nothing I can find to say negative about the Eiger Guesthouse.
Review 30:A view of the Eiger, comfortable room and bathroom, underpinned by perfect welcoming service and a great ski-lodge bar. The breakfast was generous and the evening meal (lamb) was one of the best meals we enjoyed on our 30 day holiday through Europe - lovely ala carte dining. Thank-you Ema for the and the girls (Natalia and Susane), it was really special
Review 31:WiFi was tricky but adequate. We were on the top floor and the multiple flights of stairs helped us work off the good food and beer.
Review 32:Excellent staff, excellent location, excellent value. Can't say enough good things about how helpful the staff was.
Review 33:The weather that day!
Review 34:We were stuck with a cold day, yet we were able to enjoy ourselves to the max with a delicious dinner, movies on a large screen, reading and playing pool in the reading/game room. The staff packed us lunches (including Toblerone) since we had to depart at 6:36am. Very convenient location directly across from train. Multiple hiking options
Review 35:I loved the owner, and the fact that the guesthouse was like a hostel for adults. It was furnished like a hotel, but there was a sense of community fostered by the owner who showed a movie each night after dinner. They also were very kind to send my girlfriend her winter hat that we left in our room during our stay. I could not recommend this guesthouse enough!
Review 36:It would be good if they add more options in Breakfast :)
Review 37:This hotel is right in front of Murren station so its good for people with crunch timings. Hotel itself is very good with comfortable bed, good shower. They also have good restaurant and bar.
Review 38:Weather (couldn't see anything until departure); Unsecured ski storage room (Could've been locked, but wasn't. . .maybe not a big deal--my beat-up skis are not high-theft-risk in a Swiss ski town where the residents leave better equipment on their front porches),
Review 39:Surprisingly roomy, modern room and adequate stair way (not cramped). Free guestpass to the town swimming pool and rec center. Good quality free wi-fi. incredibly convenient location across from train station. Excellent views of Eiger, Monch, Jungfrau over the train station. Restaurant and bar on ground floor. 10-min walk to main ski lift, but only 3-min walk to funicular. Super cheap lift tickets for skiing (compared to USA).
Review 40:None
Review 41:Location was great, you walk out of train station then you will see it. The room is good. Friendly staffs who would check if you need anything when dining.
Review 42:Nothing to dislike except that we had to leave.
Review 43:Initially booked one night couldn't get downstairs quickly enough to book a second night once we saw the room and facilities. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the hospitality was exceptional. Bilingual staff made it very easy for us English only speakers!
Review 44:No elevator, so if you're on the 3rd floor, you'll be hauling your suitcase up several flights of stairs.
Review 45:I loved this hotel. Great price, great people, great accommodations. The staff are so nice and helpful here. The room was comfortable and clean. The free continental breakfast in the morning was ample.
Review 46:Friendly staff. Hotel opposite station and thus very convenient. Our room had a small balcony with a great mountain few. Nice breakfast. Restaurant serves a great pizza.
Review 47:Double beds are two single beds put together, as standard in Switzerland. There's no elevator, so ask for a room on the lower level if you are carrying too much luggage.
Review 48:Room with a balcony facing the mountains, excelent restaurant (especially the fondue), amazing portuguese staff
Review 49:Couldn't sleep well for 2 nights because of the noise. You can hear everything from the rooms next to yours or from the 2nd floor.
Review 50:Great stuff, perfect spot, good food, good portion and not that expensive.
Review 51:have no lift with very narrow chair. you have to bit hard to bring your luggage to upstair room
Review 52:great location with friendly staff and cozy place. also they have veranda to smoking that it's at outside lounge but not at outdoor which is very cold.
Review 53:Great staff, very friendly and helpful. The guesthouse is modern and clean, but yet with a nice rustic feeling, we also had dinner in the evening and food was good and good value for money! Highly recommended!
Review 54:Came unprepared wt proper walking shoes to trail the village. Felt disappointed for not able to see more of Murren town. Perhaps the town people could implement a rental store for shoes that are suitable to walk in slipper snow. Especially for those who don't know how to ski but came to enjoy the walking trail in the village during snowy winter.
Review 55:The bed were so comfortable that i dreamt in my sleep. Though there were no lif & we had to drag our heavy luggage, we learnt that to visit Schilthorn Mt. we must travel light. Most of all we enjoyed the walk on slippery snowy path. Averall its was the most satisfying feeling to be able to visit Piz Gloria & enjoy the views wt snow touching on our skin. Best experience in my life
Review 56:Nothing not to like
Review 57:The Eiger Guesthouse was a wonderful place to stay. The room had a balcony on the second floor with a spectacular view. It was well furnished with a nice bathroom. The view made the balcony room well worth the price. The restaurant was excellent with a warm and friendly atmosphere and great food. Also nice and quiet and just what we wanted. Overall this was a great place to stay but that was not the best part. The best part of the Eiger was the staff. Everyone was friendly and very caring. Especially Emma the manager. We had lost some documents during our travel from Lucerne to Murren. Emma was very concerned. She made a couple of calls with no success. After the busy dinner hour she took our information home with her and on her own time, e-mailed the possible places we might have lost them including the transit system. The next afternoon she informed us the documents had been located and where we could pick them up. This was on her day off too. Without her help our trip would have been a nightmare. So many thanks to Emma and her staff for being so caring. (A lesson, don't get so caught up with photographing the spectacular scenery that you lose track of stuff. Very easy to do.)
Review 58:The location was perfect and the staff were very helpful. It's really built for tours on budget (like hours). Given that Switzerland is generally expensive, a stay at Eiger Guesthouse is highly recommendable.
Review 59:Beds were very comfortable but not too much room getting around it to use the bathroom. Cut my leg on the corner of bed pretty bad. Still I will return. Also, we were there mid Oct and most shops were already closed down until Dec.
Review 60:We stayed here for 4 nights and will be back again. Emma and Natalie were fantastic. They even helped with our heavy luggage. We had great warm weather plus a nice snow which really added to our stay. Every place around was easy to get to. Thank you so much.
Review 61:No lift so you have to take your luggage up stairs, however the staff are there to help you. Our double room was two single beds joined together.
Review 62:The staff here are amazing, so nice and always willing to help. The location is great, right next to the train station in Murren. The price was really good considering the location. We will definitely come back here when we return to Murren
Review 63:This is my second stay at the Eiger Guesthouse. I found the location great we good see the Eiger from our bedroom while we were sitting on the balcony. Also it has a very friendly dinning area, where visitors shared their experiences. The staff was friendly and helpful. I love the car free town.
Review 64:Thought I had booked a room with a double bed, and it turned out to be bunk beds. No big deal though.
Review 65:Loved this place - great location right across the street from the train station with views of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau peaks. Breathtaking! Staff was very friendly and the food at the restaurant was delicious.
Review 66:Nothing.
Review 67:The staff was extremely helpful, with Eva being especially kind and informative. Good breakfast, very clean and comfortable place. The dinner we had there was the best dinner of our trip. Loved the place.
Review 68:Everything was wonderful!!
Review 69:Natalie was so wonderful. She greeted us at the door with such kindness and made our visit so enjoyable. Fillipa had our room so clean and was such a joy to visit with..
Review 70:Room was very small and did not have bathroom. Shower was 1 floor down, but was very clean with good water pressure.
Review 71:Convenient location, quiet, excellent breakfast included.
Review 72:There was nothing we didn't like.
Review 73:We loved everything about our stay. We had a room on the second floor with a balcony. The view was wonderful. We ate dinner both nights at the restaurant downstairs. It was delicious and the presentation and service were wonderful too. Emma was fantastic, showing concern that we were comfortable and making recommendations about things to do.
Review 74:No elevator. For non e-readers, lights for reading could have been much better.
Review 75:The hotel is right across from the train station. Views are magnificent. Staff was very friendly.
Review 76:The view was amazing, it is hard not to be in that area of the world. The Murren train station is directly across from the hotel so that does factor into the view. Certainly not a major problem but I thought it was worth a mention after seeing it.
Review 77:The town of Murren is so quiet. Eiger guesthouse had the most comfy beds with lovely comforters. The food at the restaurant was delicious and the people were so nice and welcoming.
Review 78:We were too hot at night sleeping. We had to open the patio door/window to get cool. Otherwise exactly as stated.
Review 79:Staff were friendly and pleasant. We had a good variety of breakfast foods. The shared shower room was impeccably clean and the water flow was strong and hot.
Review 80:Lighting could be better in the room but otherwise everything was a good value for the money
Review 81:Good value for the money; easy access from train station; nice breakfast; on site restaurant provides great lunch or dinner venue at night.
Review 82:The staff was extremely helpful, suggesting some great hikes and always responding quickly to any request. We 'splurged' for a room with a balcony and mountain view and it was well worth it! There is also a small library and some table games (pool, foosball) which was great for a rainy day, there is not much to do in Murren when it rains.
Review 83:That I had to leave!
Review 84:Rooms very nice, comfortable beds with great pillows. We splurged for rooms with a mountain view and would do that again. Friendliest staff from check in to restaurant--made you feel right at home. TV downstairs on channel that gives conditions at mountain tops of Jungfrau, Schilthorn, and Mannlichen ridge. Nice sized bathroom. Good food at restaurant. Tables in fairly close proximity, but that allowed us to meet and chat with fellow travelers which was one if the highlights of our trip. For some reason everyone staying there was friendly as well. Must've Ben the atmosphere. Food was very good and priced accordingly with other moderately priced restaurants in Switzerland. Looking forward to a return trip as the area is drop dead gorgeous! Highly recommend a ride up the funicular to Allmenhubel to take the panorama trail.
Review 85:twin room crowded with poor lighting, shared balcony, ground floor needs new and clean carpeting, construction going on directly across from hotel
Review 86:quaint village of Murren; hiking trails, cable cars
Review 87:Nothing
Review 88:he views from the rooms are absolutely wonderful and you can see snow on the mountains. This accommodation is directly located across from the exit of the train station. We had a room with shared bathroom & toilet which were very modern and exceptionally clean. The room was very comfortable and clean also. All staff were very friendly and accommodating. We were very impressed with Joseph, Daniel and the lovely young lady who does the breakfast each morning. The chef cooks beautiful meals at night and we ate at the guesthouse each night for the 3 nights we were there. Breakfast was included in our accommodation and the buffet was great. There is a bar area at which you can enjoy a drink or play a game of pool for 2 CHF. Great location for hiking and easy access to Lauterbrunnen and Interlaken. We would highly recommend this guesthouse.
Review 89:None.
Review 90:Ema was welcoming. The staff always answered questions about potential hikes for the day based on weather. Location couldn't be better and the food was great.
Review 91:Great location, fantastic staff, great breakfast. Room modern, clean and comfortable. We had dinner and lunch in Resturant which was beautiful. Right next to Murren station and nice easy walk through to other parts of town.
Review 92:That we had to leave!!!
Review 93:Location with views of Eiger from bedroom and over the road from train station to Grutschalp Breakfast was ample and good Staff were friendly and helpful
Review 94:We were very pleased with our stay at the Eiger Guesthouse. The location is great, right across from the train station. The food is good. But most important the staff were friendly and helpful every day and, when we most needed them, went out of their way to help us. We left a phone charger in the room by mistake. When we wrote offering to pay for shipping, they said "no" and sent it immediately -- at their expense -- and we received it a few days after we returned home. That's the way to take care of guests!
Review 95:A little help with getting the luggage upstairs, no lift made it harder for the other couple with us on our trip.
Review 96:The staff were superb, very nice and helpful!
Review 97:Excellent location! Right across the train station and you don't have to carry luggage a long way to your hotel. There is balcony where we sat and saw sunrise over Eiger. Very pretty... The staff were friendly, and breakfast was great too. Would definitely recommend to friends.
Review 98:We loved the friendly staff, especially Emma. I loved the view from my window!! Breakfast was included which was great since we were on a budget!
