Reviews for Anantara Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa
Review 1:I prefer a hotel with tennis or squash facilities (of course I knew in advance it had neither) so one night is probably enough....views over mangroves are nice but the other side overlooks the motorway.
Review 2:Very modern & comfortable, very spacious rooms. We had a car but without one, given that it's rather close to a busy motorway, you are quite a long way from anything Abu Dhabi has to offer. BUT there is just nearby (virtually part of the hotel complex) a neat grouping of restaurants & a small well-stocked Waitrose supermarket....pretty view over mangrove swamps & canoe paddling trip saw lovely flamingo.
Review 3:Very very disappointed with the international& sushi restaurant and the organisation of a safari in the desert.
Review 4:We liked the position, the room and the staff
Review 5:Some in-room dining food items are below standard (rating 1/10), the room carpet is not clean, a left over slipper from a previous guest, baby crib with no mattress, overall poor attention to detail for a luxury experience.
Review 6:The view! Room size, friendly staff, some food items
Review 7:Every second spent in this hotel was a pleasurable experience.
Review 8:Amazing staff, everywhere. Most professional I have ever met, from people working in the parking, restaurant staff, reception, other hospitality employees, gym, room service - all just wonderful people. Very good food in all 4 restaurants. Great pool and view of the mangroves forrst. Incredible to have such much green in the desert. Spotless and luxurius rooms and bathrooms. Corridors, lobby, elevators - all in perfect shape. The rooms - highly recommend the upgrade to Kasara deluxe and mangroves view. The room felt like the size of a small apartment, very spacious and a comfortable bed I never wanted to leave!
Review 9:The breakfast was a little average for a five star hotel. I ordered an omelette and was dissapointed with its taste and texture I was unable to finish it.
Review 10:Very comfortable and relaxing stay. Beautiful views of the Mangroves from our room balcony and the executive lounge. The food and service in the Thai restaurant was outstanding. A very authentic experience in the restaurant.
Review 11:I didn't have a bad experience per say , but due to being overbooked , we didn't find the room that we booked . The staff argued about the policy mentioning it's subject to availability eventhough we chose the specification of the room on booking.com . Even if it was true , a good receptionist wouldn't have argued with the customer even if the customer was wrong . Second , I was hoping to use a DVD player , but they don't offer DVD players . Nowadays , hotels started keeping DVD players for customers upon their requests .
Review 12:I liked that the hotel is attached to a promenade and the fact that the view is breathtaking .
Review 13:-The location was a bit far from most attractions in Abudhabi(around 15-20 mins drive) to Ferrari World and Yas mall and Sheikh Zayed Mosque andGalleria Mall. There are other hotels which are attached to the mallsand Ferrari World. (As we came from Dubai and we had our own cars, wasn't a big problem though) -As we had small children with us,would have been great if there was a fun club with activities forchildren in the hotel.
Review 14:-Initially I was going to book the Kasara mangrove room but the websiteshowed that all type of rooms were the same size. I then clarified withthe hotel and they explained that the only difference is that with theKasara room you get access to the Kasara lounge. (Since we did not wishto spend the whole day eating in the hotel, I booked the normal mangroveview room and I was so glad I did this). -Beautiful modern spacious room(mangrove view). Other family members stayed in the rooms facing themain road (which were also great, you could not hear any noise, just atiny bit smaller and without the view). -Super comfy bed. The king bedwas huge and so comfortable. -Excellent customer service (whenever wecalled the staff for anything they were very helpful and quick eventhough the hotel seemed to be full) -Although I did not get the time togo to the spa and the Turkish Hammam, I have read lots of excellentreviews and I would definitely try it if I come back to the hotel again.-I have also read and heard some excellent reviews on the Thairestaurant in the hotel and I will definitely try it in the future.
Review 15:More choice on F & B outlets particularly as one outlet was closed on one evening. That did not however detract from enjoyment of our stay
Review 16:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were of a high standard.
Review 17:View of the city. Would have paid more for a mangrove view room if I'd known I'd be looking out over a highway
Review 18:Lovely room. Friendly & helpful staff. Nice if somewhat small pool area.
Review 19:Nothing
Review 20:The staff is very professional. Hospitality is at its best. The room is spacious and very well organized. The hotel is quiet and the scenaries are wonderful. The food is excellent. Very well recommended.
Review 21:Our bathroom had a water leakage in the bathtub and we woke up to flooded bathroom. W also felt that there was too much light entering the room effecting our quality of sleep.
Review 22:The view of the Mangroves was very serene and quite unlike anything I have seen in the GCC.
Review 23:there are not much verity of drinks and food in the hotel you have to go outside to have a nice dinner plus there verity of drinks are very limited to low quality brands
Review 24:the room are very nice and the vie were beautiful plus the staff at the pool and mangroves lounge were excellent
Review 25:The service was awful, thes lost our luggage as soon as we got there, had to wait à Long Time... Also in The evening we went to bar next to The pool, waited half an Hour for our drinks...
Review 26:Balcony view, The infinite pool
Review 27:They closed the whole pool area for the entire time we were there - and didn't inform us in advance. We found out just after we had booked in. Nothing else to do there!
Review 28:We liked being able to go kayaking in the Mangroves
Review 29:The location is a little bit far away from city center.
Review 30:The location on the mangrove is amazing. The mangrove view from the room is peaceful and relaxing. The activities provided which you can experience as a family or couples are numerous and delightful.
Review 31:bathtub was not clean; bath/shower took a long time to get hot; rude receptionist on phone; too many kids at pool; pool area closed early (pool open until 7, but no seating area after 5)
Review 32:good location; good restaurants; comfortable bed
Review 33:Hotel doesn't seem like a 5*. Many areas need sprucing up and updating, including the exterior. Didn't receive a particularly warm welcome at reception when they initially couldn't find our booking. Balcony was not cleaned sufficiently and ash tray not provided.
Review 34:Waiting staff were wonderful. Thai restaurant was excellent for both ambiance, food and service. Good sized rooms and bathroom.
Review 35:Nothing at all.
Review 36:Quiet and serene locale, just off the main road, with sweeping views of the mangroves from the resort. We especially enjoyed romantic walks by the creek and marina. Kasara Lounge was a great place to relax and offered a decent breakfast spread too. Checkin was a breeze despite the long weekend rush, staff was courteous and helpful, overall service was excellent.
Review 37:Upgraded to mangroves view room. Restaurants and liveliness of the promenade at a weekend. Waitrose on site for essentials. Courteous staff throughout hotel.
Review 38:There are restaurants and a supermarket connected down a ways from the hotel on the walkway. That was convenient. The morning walk we took was relaxing. But on Friday night the restaurants were crowded which is normal for a weekend evening. But the children of these restaurant patrons were left to run wild all over the place with the bikes, skateboards, hoverboards. I know this is a public place but being so close to the hotel makes your walk in the evening unenjoyable. I will definitely return to this hotel but maybe not for a weekend getaway.
Review 39:I love the calm, and serene ambiance of this hotel. All employees were courteous and helpful. The atmosphere of the executive lounge was fantastic. The breakfast was superb!
Review 40:I requested a non smoking room and I got a smoking room, and I found the evening dining options to be limited so that we ended up going to an alternative hotel for dinner
Review 41:Staff were amazing, room was very comfortable, pool was great
Review 42:we were staying at the executive room for 3 nights. the lady supervisor at the front desk were not very helpful. I'd like to change some local currency in order to pay for kayaking. and she told me they don't accept Hong Kong dollars..... sorry, that's it. then she needed me to propose if it's possible to charge my credit card and get cash from it ..... then she said yes but will charge 5% extra as service charge. I said no problem at all. ( point is : solution should be advised by the hotel, not from guest. if u insist this is a 5 star hotel). at last, the helpful staff from the lounge told me I can get cash from ATM right in the hotel. :-(
Review 43:the girl from Philippine at the kasha club lounge was great and very helpful.
Review 44:No beach
Review 45:Helpful staff, great views of the mangroves, spacious & clean rooms, and the its location near restaurants and cafes (just a few walking distance)
Review 46:The staff especially the guy in the reception rude..very impolite I will never come back to that hotel because no matter how beautiful the place it's useless if the staff is not accomodating.
Review 47:Nice place and view relaxing it's like you're away from the city..
Review 48:The hotel is very small, no much to do beside the small pool. Spa is too expansive. Hotel is not recommended for couple who are seeking for a romantic place.
Review 49:Breakfast has lots of variety.
Review 50:I didnt like the treatment of customers services staff . And one of the restaurant staff the way of language was upsetting.
Review 51:I like the location , rooms , restaurant and the activities of the hotel
Review 52:I loved the hotel and i love to stay again I love to have the sweet with pool next time if there is any promotion and good Price for me now the price is high is to hay for me
Review 53:Check in was poor. The balcony door didn't work properly. The bathroom was ok however the design of the wash basin was badly thought through. Service at breakfast was poor, no napkins on the table and coffee of a very poor quality.
Review 54:Having stayed in Anantara Hotels before my expectations were higher than the experience. Eastern Mangroves is well situated but struggles to hit four star quality
Review 55:The stay had complimentary access to the Kasara club where we could have coffee, tea and cookies and later in the evening cocktails, drinks and finger food. It was yum. Loved the facilities at the gym and the pool. The mangroves view was simply stunning. The food from The Ingredients for breakfast was so delicious and what a spread it was, my favorite was the stir fried noodles. Will be going back this week to try out their water sport activity. Really friendly and helpful staff. The bed was also so comfortable and something about it made me just want to go back.
Review 56:"Late" check-out was very early- 1:30.
Review 57:Staff was friendly and attentive. Check-in was very quick, room and pool area were absolutely beautiful - great views, bed was very comfortable.
Review 58:I was quoted $183 in large bold type and then found myself paying $212. I looked again at quote and found another 16% for service charge and local taxes in the small print. This is a comment about booking.com.
Review 59:Friendly staff, warm reception. Good size rooms nicely appointed
Review 60:AC switches off at night, check-out 12 sharp the classic excuse is the hotel was fully booked, food is over priced compared to the quality, the room was not cleaned properly, during my stay i called the reception at least 3 times to complain about something and i don't call this comfort. Finally, i don't see the hotel as family friendly.
Review 61:Location, wifi, parking
Review 62:no bad experiences at all
Review 63:Best hotel I ever stayed at in UAE. Very stylish, great attention for detail, top customer care, very good cuisine, perfect pool & surroundings. A place to come to peace
Review 64:Drilling during our spa treatment (but we were compensated with a complementary treatment). Hardly any alcohol in our (a bit too expensive) mojuito.
Review 65:Very friendly staff everywhere. Best breakfast buffet ever. Excellent Asian chefs at the cooking station. Complementary cake for our wedding anniversary. Lovely pool. Good massages by L and Aranya in the spa. Etc etc!
Review 66:Some staff were not friendly and turn down service was not standard. Deposit was being held back for 2 weeks which is a disgrace
Review 67:Spacious room and access to executive lounge was very convenient
Review 68:That we had to leave !!
Review 69:Judging by my only one night stay, simply my best ever hotel experience. Recommend all to book a Kasara room since you get the extra kasara club facility which was excellent. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. Cant wait to come back !
Review 70:Assigned the wrong room to start with. Luggage sent to wrong room. Husband checked in later, luggage again sent to wrong room. Told we couldn't get late checkout, yet received a message from booking.com telling us the hotel had agreed to a late checkout. No explanation or orientation to the lounge although we had a club room. Had to ask to even be directed to the lounge. Weren't made to feel special as club room guests, unlike other hotels we'd booked in AD that always made us feel like privileged guests. Overall a very disappointing experience especially after reading all the wonderful reviews about the place....
Review 71:There was a complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us in the room in the evening, I guess on account of it being a dry night on a day we had booked a club room...
Review 72:Wish there had been a bigger kids club.
Review 73:Santo at check in was very helpful and every staff member we came across, including the staff during the very busy breakfast buffet was unfailingly polite, smiling and warm.
Review 74:Hotel charged us for telephone calls although we didn't!!!! I complained regarding same that it's cheating!!!! And we paid for breakfast they let us wait for half an hour that restaurant was full people came from outside !!
Review 75:The private pool is not private at all, everyone can see you from the other rooms balconies. It is not a real pool, very small as a jacozy. Very disappointing.
Review 76:The room only
Review 77:The things o don't like is when I asked if I can get late check out and they said no because they have someone will check in, really such a larger hotel only has the room I'm staying in? But guess what I saw the same room available online but this time will be the last I come back for this hotel because I used to go that hotel more than 6 times a month and they know it but looseimg coustmer is all what they looking for and there is other hotel better around and more understandable if you ask for something like that when I said I would take longer on my meeting.
Review 78:It was not clarified that breakfast was not included. In other hotels it was written in the booking page that it would come with a charge.
Review 79:Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Strongly suggest the balcony room. It has a lovely view on the mangroves and great bathroom. On the food side, you have to try the thai delicacies of hotel restaurant
Review 80:Every thing was perfect except there was one recipienest and lots of people to check in and out
Review 81:Very clean and nice place. Fraindly staff . Quiet place .nice room service. Big rooms
Review 82:Less number of options in room service menu. Plus a little rigid to go out of it (preparing a dish without meat for example). With a non smoking option I was given a smoking room. I stayed at the property many times and I have seen the front desk (registration) not being very helpful in this trip.
Review 83:Excellent place as always. Special mention to Mr Sri in the concierge as he was exceptional in following up.
Review 84:Last time there was bath salt by the tub, this time there wasn’t. ;)
Review 85:A warm welcoming, and the staff was very nice and efficient. A luxury hotel with many facilities and a nice view. Spacious and super clean room, perfect service. The Ramadan Iftar buffet was spectacular.
Review 86:Not didn't like but suggeation They should announce more about ladies GYM as it's not shown clearly to the public .. It's really nice GYM for coverd ladies like me
Review 87:Staff is so friendly and welcoming .. Location is away from the crowded city life Mangover activity and view are really amazing to watch Environment around the facility are easy to access and and present more dinning options
Review 88:The room Isn't clean Bad view room full of dust FOR 2 days no vacume, no bathroom floor and replacement of shampo and used stuff Noisy neighbour no managment enterfer When u request a service its takes forever...example i did request a blanket i git it after 1 hour and 40 minutes
Review 89:The privacy of my private swimming pool. People from balcony above us can see us. Plus the size of the private pool is really small
Review 90:The staff were friendly The food was great
Review 91:Slower lift frequent keys' blockage Nothing much for kids to do
Review 92:Vast view of mangroves from the room Restaurants in compound Awesome spacious rooms Excellent toiletries and tea selection
Review 93:The bedsheets were changed after the first night although there was no need. The staff should ask guests if they want it done, otherwise it is a waste of money and bad for the environment. The floor in the toilet should be cleaned better.
Review 94:Everything was excellent. The highlight is definitely the fact that the hotel and the infinity pool are facing mangroves which is a unique feature that creates a sense of tranquility. Bring binoculars with you to watch the wildlife on the other side of the canal while soaking in the pool. A kayak tour to see the mangroves is absolutely worth taking even if it is hot outside, and the tour operator is just next door. All the facilities are of a high standard.
Review 95:The food was so so. The Thai restaurant seems overpriced especially giving the quality of the food. Make sure that you do not take the menu. The ingredients Iftar was good but the prawns were not fresh at all...
Review 96:We liked the location and enjoyed the mangroves view from our Ksara room (free upgrade from the hotel staff). The staff was lovely, very friendly and ready to help all the time.
Review 97:Phenomenal but I did not feel great when being hit with a tourist tax on EVERYTHING. Especially at the spa, I specifically asked the price to then realize they didn't tell me the price plus tax.
Review 98:I booked the room two months in advance for AED 650 + taxes. The same room on the day of the stay was for AED 550 + taxes. I would think twice to book in advance during off peak seasons from your site.
Review 99:Breakfast times should be extended and with this hot weather it is hard to walk outside to the restaurants. Should an indoor path
Review 100:I liked the pool and the service as well as the amount of restaurants surrounding it
Review 101:Resepation should be more welcoming with gusts .. regular gust informations who use to stay at the hotel should be save with Resepation so the can know by names regular gust or first me gust
Review 102:Location
Review 103:the fire alarm was activated one night due to smoke in some area in the hotel the bad thing that it took more than an hour to deactivate it
Review 104:very clean and well maintaned staff is very friendly nice quiet and beautiful location
Review 105:I had booked into Anatara eastern Mangroves hotel and spa because I needed a break, a rest, a little lie in!. I had my mum from NZ with me and my 11 month old the fire alarm went off woke us all from a dead sleep, terrified my baby who was screaming and carried on like that for over an hour. Lovely hotel, staff were flustered but handled the situation well, but the situation spoilt the reason for our stay ( which of course couldn't be helped)
Review 106:I was there for relaxation but it turned to be the worst experience for two things: they have charged me more than booking price and to settle the bill took two days as the staff was not effective and for every issue he needs to go back to his manager. Secondly, the fire alarm made it an awful experience as we were out of our rooms for two ours. Very noice and bad
Review 107:Time of the a/c to change température in the bedroom ( non very clear guidelines)
Review 108:Amazing breakfast Confort of the Kong size bed Thaï restaurant inside the hôtel totally excellent Good service
Review 109:Not clean and they give us rooms not close to each other and they know we have kids
Review 110:They not respect the time of waiting they keep us waiting to go to the room after 3hours !!!!!
Review 111:The view of the mangroves was blocked becz of the high balcony walls .
Review 112:The staff were super ... it was a royal treatment . Best check in and fastest one ever . The room was so comfy
Review 113:Pool villa should be called jakozi. Villa, the pool is very. Very small it can not even be called as a pool and it is not private at all since it is on the ground floor and people are passing next to you and can see you when you swim. I checked in at 4:00 pm and checked out same day at 8:30 pm since it was not as I expected. No privacy at all
Review 114:Staff are friendly
Review 115:The noise level from the compressor extractor fan at the pool catering facility is completely inexcusable. I did detracts from everything in that area. Fix it! More vegetation around the poll area would be good. Fine in April... next month it will be a furnace ... to much stone and concrete.
Review 116:Staff. Food. Location overlooking the mangroves. Adjacent restaurants and the promenade mean one is not trapped and does not need to take a taxi for food and drink options. Kayaking and activities on the doorstep.
Review 117:Breakfast and lunch buffet cost were high, but a great and tasty variety.
Review 118:Fantastic comfort, nice decor, and extremely courteous staff. Bed is the most comfortable hotel bed I've slept in. Mangrove side view is beautiful.
Review 119:we order lunch and they told us it will take 20~30 mins .. we waited for one hour and then we found out that the staff forgot to send our order! However we got 2 juices and an additional main course as complementry. When we check out we got surprised as they didn't charge us for the whole lunch !!
Review 120:The fact that oly on checking out I found there was an additional AED 120 to the room rate for service charge and tax. The figure should be declared from the off. Was definately put off by this.
Review 121:The peace and quiet
Review 122:Aed 150 of breakfast is over priced..Also we had a bad experience with the room dining services and one of management called us to solve this problem by offering a free of charge breakfast,, but unfortunately that was UNTRUE because they included the breakfast to our invoice!!! If they want to satisfy the guests they have to be honesty and credibility befor anything else.. I don't think this hotel will be in our plan for any next visit to Abu Dhabi
Review 123:Hotel location, room size, verity of breakfast
Review 124:WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE POOL WILL BE CLOSED ON THURSDAY, DAY OF OUR CHECK IN (3PM) FROM 4PMONWARDS DUE TO A PRIVATE EVENT WHILE IT COULD HAVE BEEN WISER TO INFORM ALL CUSTOMERS BY EMAIL TIME AHEAD TO DECIDE TO CONFIRM OR CANCEL THER BOOKING, CONSIDEIRNG THAT THE EVENT WAS FOR SURE SCHEDULED TIME AHEAD
Review 125:Overall it was a bit over priced for the food and drink in the restaurant and pool bar. Food was good but not worth the prices charged. There was a function around the pool the night we were there which we were told about, however the gates were locked at the back of the hotel so we were locked out late at night. Room key had to be re activated twice in the two days we were there.
Review 126:Staff in reception were really lovely. Food was nice, prompt service. Patio on the room was spacious and had a nice view of the mangroves. I'm glad I stayed but I wouldn't go back.
Review 127:The pool in the pool suit is not covered properly so any one walk from outside can see inside the pool. It should bring the wall little bit up to cover the pool side
Review 128:Every thing
Review 129:The special gourmet friday brunch was just acceptable, but nothing startling for all the hype and added cost. Especially the Australian section where the venison had no taste at all. The food generally was disappointing.
Review 130:Comfortable rooms and the Kasara lounge was wonderful.
Review 131:Staff was extremely helpful and accommodated all our requests; we wanted to change room since the one allocated to us was a smokers room. We also had to shorten our stay since we both got sick. Staff was again really understanding and tried to help out. Good customer service.
Review 132:However, it felt very corporate-like, almost like a business hotel and it did not appear like this in the brochures. The pool was a bit too small for the number of guests that were using the facilities.
Review 133:The hotel was comfortable and easy to get to
Review 134:The pool is way to small for the seize of the hotel. The manager on duty handled the situation very poorly and even refused to bring more sun beds despite having them in store. Only after a long argument he reacted. On top of that he was unfriendly
Review 135:Checked in with a lady who must have been at the end of her shift. Totally not interested in us or explaining the hotel's facilities. Just checked us in and told us where the lift was.
