Reviews for Blumental Hotel

Review 1:Excellent friendly staff. We had to leave early before breakfast so they made us a early one. Also the restaurant in the hotel was by far the best food in Murren.

Review 2:We stayed here in the middle of a 10-day hiking trek through the Alps that included several huts as well as mountain gasthaus type hotels. The day of our stay, we climbed the Schilthorn from the back side, then took the tram down into Murren. What a treat the Blumental was- clean and beautiful, with a nice staff- highly recommended!

Review 3:Nothing

Review 4:Cleanliness The breakfast Location Mountain view from our chalet room Friendliness of hosts Room had enough space for 2 suitcases and backpacks

Review 5:Nice location, next to Allmendhubel funicular train station, not too far from train station to Lauterbrunnen, and Schilthorn cable car. Nice views from the front street.

Review 6:The only real issues we had was the location of the room. While it did give us a great view, we could hear everyone and everything happening on the street. There was a heat wave so we had the windows opened. This meant that we could hear the conversations of people walking on the street and eating at the restaurant. You may want to consider this in your choice of room location.

Review 7:I thought the hotel was a great option in the town. The owners take great care of the facility and breakfast was very nice, as was dinner at their restaurant. I would easily stay here again - just in a different room.

Review 8:We had a stunning mountain view from an annexe room in a self-contained chalet behind the main hotel. The breakfasts were bewilderingly varied and generous. I wish I could have eaten more!

Review 9:Only complaint is no tea making facility or bar fridge in room.

Review 10:The motel is situated in a magnificent part of the world. We had a balcony with lovely view. Meal at the restaurant was lovely, staff extremely helpful.

Review 11:We loved our stay here. The owner is SO nice, and he and his wife do everything from breakfast to working in the restaurant (which has delicious food). The breakfast is really great and the room was very comfortable and had a lovely view from the shared balcony. Our room seemed newly updated and it was comfortable. There is no air conditioning, so we kept the balcony door opened to get some of the cool mountain air coming in during the July evenings. Because it's a shared balcony, we were a little concerned about propping that door open, but it was fine. It may be unnecessary at other times of the year. We enjoyed our time and would definitely stay there again. Just a note, though, that Booking.com doesn't actually charge you for the full price for the room, so you pay that balance at the hotel; the wife of the owner could have had a little more patience explaining that, but we worked that out and it was fine.

Review 12:The room decor is mountain style simple..

Review 13:Very friendly staff, very relaxed breakfast with offers of more coffee etc and they didnt seem to bothered by people coming down to eat a little late. We stayed in the chalet and it was lovely, though there are smaller rooms and ones without balcony to the rear..

Review 14:My husband, sister, brother-in-law, and I spent two wonderful days in Murren at Hotel Blumental in June. The hotel itself is very easy to find from the gondola station - a leisurely five minute walk into town. It's also located directly across the street from the ATM and grocery store. Ralph and Heidi are so nice - they definitely make you feel at home! Heidi also gave us great advice - we planned to take the early gondola up the Schilthorn to have breakfast in rotating restaurant. She couldn't understand why we would do that if breakfast was included in our rate (and it is good!!!). Mostly out of guilt, we decided to eat breakfast at the hotel and perhaps more at the top, not realizing that the restaurant is not a buffet exclusive place, and that you can get the same views for the cost of a glass of iced tea as you can for the cost of their buffet. So thanks Heidi - you saved us 15 francs per person! :) So if your hotel includes breakfast, save yourself the money and go have a cup of coffee in the rotating restaurant instead. (But still get moving early to get the discounted rate!) Anyway, definitely stay at Hotel Blumental. The fact that it's rated 5th of the hotels in Murren is not a slight on Ralph and Heidi but a testament to the fantastic hospitality throughout Murren. Enjoy!

Review 15:The whole country needs to put screens on their doors and windows. It was too hot to close the windows, but the flies and mosquitos were worse than the heat.

Review 16:We had a great view from our chalet balcony, and the staff were extremely friendly and hospitable. The owners were especially kind and welcoming.

Review 17:The owners were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The room had a great view of the peaks and was clean and comfortable. The hotel had one of our favorite restaurants of our trip.

Review 18:The owners were very friendly, great breakfast and good location for everything we wanted. Also took a dip in the hot tub located up the street the hotel had an agreement with.

Review 19:We loved the high standard of our accommodation. We had a great view of the mountains. We ate a delicious dinner in the dining room with wonderful service. We were close to a funicular up the mountain, another plus. A top place to relax!

Review 20:We loved everything about our stay at the Blumental Hotel in Murren. It was easy to catch a late afternoon table car up to the Schilthorn after our arrival as it was so close. Across the street from the Coop store too. The walk to the little train to the cable car down to Lauturbrunnen was a 20 minute ride. The comfort and friendly staff of the hotel made for a great wonderful stay. Breakfast had everything you would want. (Including eggs). If I had one suggestion it would be for a bedside little table....but room was very nice otherwise. Very enjoyable stay there.

Review 21:We stayed in the little chateau behind the main building. Our balcony provided an amazing view and made for a nice spot to have a glass of wine and watch the sun light up the mountains as it set.

Review 22:No Wi-Fi. Limited continental type of breakfast. No English TV Channels. Surprisingly a lot of trafic for a vehicle free town. Double bed requested yet twin provided.

Review 23:Cleanliness and location is spot-on!

Review 24:I would have liked a better view and bit bigger breakfast. Also, a couple small night stands next to the bed would have been helpful....otherwise a lovely stay!

Review 25:Very clean and well priced hotel. Management was wonderful! Restaurant was fabulous! Very cozy and romantic and excellent food!

Review 26:the room was small and not a good shower but then it is rare to find a good one!

Review 27:the location and the view from our bedroom window which was in an annex behind the main hotel.

Review 28:Lacked a hot water pot in the room - would have been nice to be able to make hot tea/coffee, and it's such a small inexpensive detail

Review 29:Quiet and peaceful, basic facilities but very clean, hospitable staff, good breakfast

Review 30:I didn't like the pillows - too flat. Breakfast was poor.

Review 31:We had three rooms (one in the hotel) and two in the Chalet). The room in hotel was spacious and clean. Dinner options in the restaurant is quite good. The hotel is about 10 mins walk (leisurely) from the Murren main station. Its closer to the Schilthorn Bahn. There's a Coop just opposite the hotel.

Review 32:This was my fourth visit to hotel blumenthal . It never fails to please us. Heidi and Ralph put their heart and soul into making your experience a positive one. The dinners there are always excellent. I tell everyone who goes to murren to stay here.

Review 33:The hotel owner was extremely friendly. Breakfast was well-run. Loved the personal patios that came with the chalet. Room was clean and up to date. Perfect location.

Review 34:Mattress and pillows could have been better, but our rest was perfect anyway. Shower was located too low on the wall which made it a bit uncomfortable for normal height people.

Review 35:Staff was very kind and friendly, at the hotel and its restaurant. Room was cozy, warm, clean and with a great view. Breakfast was delicious and complete. Food at the restaurant was the best we had in town. Location is perfect, close to the cable car station, supermarket and trekking trails.

Review 36:Everything was great

Review 37:Charming , attention to details by owners and professionally managed & operated. Location and price \ value 10 +. We our owners of a B & B in st John USVI and have high standards and will return next year for a longer stay ! Capt Hank Slodden

Review 38:Nothing. Everything was perfect!

Review 39:The husband and wife who run this hotel genuinely care about your stay and are extremely helpful. Always friendly, greeted us each morning as they served breakfast (which was quite filling for once with thick cuts of meat). Excellent restaurant within the hotel, we ate here each night as the meals change daily. Very comfortable beds and absolutely amazing views from the chalet balconies. This place was the best of our 6 week trip.

Review 40:Ok, this (according to my wife) should be clear to all guests booking this hotel. You need to take the cable car up to the hotel. It is not accessible by vehicle. And accordingly, this is what gives Murren it's charm and it is worth it.

Review 41:Awesome location, real Alps feel, great hosts. We got there late (because I insisted that you could drive to Murren.., despite my wife's protest) yet the hosts were accomodating and the hotel was exactly as depicted online. If you're looping around Switzerland you gotta stop in the Alps by Interlaken.

Review 42:We don't have really anything to say bad about the Hotel or the Staff.

Review 43:The staff were very welcoming, helpful, and friendly. The location is a little walk from the train station, but more towards the center of town. The restaurant in the hotel is the best in the town and has the friendliest wait staff as well. The rooms were fairly big and cozy and had a nice bathroom as well. This place helped make our week trip to Switzerland a very enjoyable and memorable one.

Review 44:Almost nothing.

Review 45:Cozy family run hotel with a nice restaurant, tranquilized atmosphere for those who are looking for relax. The bed and pillars are very comfortable.

Review 46:Dining room menu/food disappointing both in variety and food quality.

Review 47:Excellent location. Our "room without a view" opened right onto a path and looked at the vernacular going up the mountain; we liked this better than being in the main building.

Review 48:The view of the flower garden and the mountain peaks from our chaletdeck was wonderful. The two dinners we had at the restaurant were thebest of our entire month long trip to Europe! We loved the morningbuffet. Great location. Close proximity to public laundry. Excellent Wi-Fi coverage.

Review 49:The chalet was hardly big enough for three. Not enough surfaces in the bathroom for three sets of wash products.

Review 50:Location and the look of the chalet. Breakfast was standard Swiss style, good selection of teas!

Review 51:We either missed, or it wasn't told to us that Murren was a "auto free" zone. We had a tight schedule so probably would not have spent the time and the money (parking and extra trams costs) to stay so remotely from all the activities we wanted to do.

Review 52:The hosts were marvelous - very kind and accomodating. My husband was ill and they helped me bring a dinner tray up to the second floor for him. The ability to open the windows was wonderful - we could enjoy the cool mountian breezes.

Review 53:Heidi and Ralph are not merely hotel owners, they are ever present at the front desk, in the restaurant, and breakfast room, making sure each guest feels exactly that...a guest.

Review 54:We stayed in this hotel for two nights and how we wished we could have stayed longer if not for our other pre-scheduled tour! Heidi is so nice and so hospitable! The room given to us was the one we requested and we couldn't be more thankful to Heidi. Our room has the breathtaking view of Jungfrau and waking up having this gigantic wonder in front of us feels like heaven! Murren is a haven of wonder! I wouldn't trade the location anywhere else. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone! Until next time!
