Reviews for Hotel Lido
Review 1:The rooms must have a minimum of a kettle, cup and spoon to have at least a coffee or tea. If you wake up at night or came back late... you get nothing. Thank you
Review 2:Well situated..
Review 3:The Wifi doesn't work well You have to use near public car parking
Review 4:Location, near shopping areas and public transport get 40% off of near car parking cost really quiet when we closed the window very friendly Staff Cleanliness
Review 5:The bed was a little to hard for my particular tastes, but that's a totally subjective opinion. Walls are a little thin, and I unfortunately had quite noisy neighbors. No big deal though.
Review 6:The staff were amazing! Very friendly and super accommodating. Big shout out to the delightful Spanish gentleman that helped me get checked in - what a lovely man. Very close to the main train station which makes it easy to get in and out. Walkable distances from lots of attractions, including the lake. I would definitely stay again.
Review 7:Poor choice of channels (only French ones except for news channel in English), very modest breakfast, uncomfortable location of sockets - all of them were on the level of the floor, so I had to crawl each time to charge my cell or laptop
Review 8:Location, friendly staff, spacious and clean room
Review 9:Only complaint would be the complimentary breakfast, it's pretty basic which is fine but they closed early both days which resulted in us only being able to get coffee and tea with no milk.
Review 10:My cousin and myself stayed at Hotel Lido, two females in their mid twenties, and it was great. The staff were so awesome and made maps for us as to where to go for good food, sights to see and more. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. On top of that, location was perfect and so central to everything.
Review 11:When I entered the room, I smelled a strong smell of a blocked toilet, very unpleasant. The room was very warm, so I opened the window but as the hotel is on a main road, it was incredibly loud during the night.
Review 12:The room itself was clean and the be very comfortable.
Review 13:Could do with more electricity sockets for charging devices. We were in the family room. This was the only negative.
Review 14:Friendly helpful staff. Very clean. Beds very comfortable. Good TV. The location is excellent. Nice clean bathroom with hairdryer and water pressure excellent. Iron and board available from reception. Extremely good value for money in Geneva. Would highly recommend to friends, family and fellow travellers.
Review 15:nothing
Review 16:Close to the lake and shops, on a noisy road but with closed windows you hear nothing. Convinient, next to the train station.Nice size room. Very clean. Definitly stay again.
Review 17:Bed was not comfortable and room was too hot in the cool autumn unless you opened a window....then it was too noisy with outside traffic! TV needed to be unplugged at night because it had very bright lights on it when turned off!! Breakfast was mediocre at best. Day old croissant, decent bread, jam and cold cuts. No extras!
Review 18:This is certainly a "budget" hotel for Geneva where hotel rooms are absurdly expensive. You get what you pay for.
Review 19:No general hotel facilities just a lobby but staff were helpful.
Review 20:Very clean and well kept. Bedding and towels good. Excellent location - very central and only 5 minutes from station so great if you have lots of luggage. No tea/coffee facilities so take a travel kettle with you. Rooms at front are probably very noisy but we were at the back, as requested, so no problem.
Review 21:We stayed there for 3 nights and we saw like 10 different staff every time we return back to the hotel. Every single one of them were really helpful and nice!
Review 22:The position of the hotel is excellent. We found it within ten minutes of leaving the station. The bus station is five minutes away for busses to Annecy or other places. First Class location
Review 23:Some interesting night time scenery, but to be expected given the hotel's location and price
Review 24:Friendly and helpful staff Close to station Pretty basic but better than I expected Good enough to make me want to return if budgets were an issue
Review 25:The Lift is quite old & small, unable to accommodate 2 people with luggage. Floor of room sound on walk like a wooden hut.
Review 26:The Location is good..a 5mins walk from Gare De Cornvain for EU travller by rail is good choice.
Review 27:I wish that hotel has air conditioning as during our stay the weather was hot 32 C. And I wish that each room has minibar and coffee maker .
Review 28:The most I like very helpful stuff at the front desk: Jovannna, Odile, Sofia, menager and a man from Spain ( I forgot his name). They answered our questions and gave us very helpful information about sightseeing and what is worth to visit. I am especially thankful to Jovanna who helped us to survive during hot weather by changing our room to not sunny side . And I like the help of the staff with putting my food to refrigerator. Sorry for misspelling the names. I think that our beds were very comfortable and good quality. Location of hotel Lido is very good, you can get to Old city, to the lake , to the trains by walking.
Review 29:Room very hot and as we had a room facing the road, it was very noisy. Ask for room at back.
Review 30:Very big room and very clean. Very central as well, 1 minute from the train station and 10 minutes walk from the main shopping streets. Free transport pass for Geneva.
Review 31:The fan was too small, didnt help much during summer it gets hot.
Review 32:Convenient location, near cornavin. Staff are great. Within 3 mins you get to bys and train station. Eateries and cafes nearby. Good place,
Review 33:Great location, less than 5 minutes walking to the main station. Free transportation included in the stay (as is the case with most Geneve hotels). It was very hot the week we stayed, and (also like many Geneve hotels), there was no air conditioning in the room. It would have been fine, except we were in the top attic room with only a small fan. Very hot with no ventilation. Luckily, we were moved to another room on a lower floor for our last two nights.
Review 34:It was a bit unfortunate that breakfast couldn't be provided on the morning of departure.
Review 35:The hotel was relatively close to the train station and also the lakeside. The staff were friendly and provided useful information about local restaurants and the fireworks festival occurring on the evening of arrival.
Review 36:Space around the bed so small that we have to open 1 suitcase at the time (they were large, the size that you check in the airplane) No extra pillow, and the one in the bed was very thin.
Review 37:This hotel is very close to the train station (just one block in front) and near restaurants and 1 block from the tourist information. Around the corner is the tour buses to everywhere. We took a Montblanc tour and was so convenient! They stored our suitcases after checking out. Friendly staff and an elevator.
Review 38:Everything was honesty really good
Review 39:The location was awesome for the price, the rooms were huge!!! Had a lovely outlook onto the street, with really big windows. The beds were really soft, but didn't both us at all. We were 3 people in a room, and the seperate single bed was in like its own section. Overall great hotel especially for how cheap it was. Also got a free public transport card which was awesome for getting to the airport and the main shopping centre.
Review 40:Wifi didn't work well, shower was not great, room did not come with breakfast.
Review 41:Great central location, big spacious clean room, comfortable bed, friendly staff. Geneva is an expensive place to stay, and so comparatively good value for money.
Review 42:It was 34 C in Geneva and no air conditioning in the room made it impossible to sleep. Like and oven. Breakfast was simple, no yoghurt, no dark bread, almost no fruit only apples.
Review 43:Nice staff and very clean room. Central location.
Review 44:No air-conditioning in room which made sleeping almost impossible (a small fan was supplied). Breakfast expensive and average at CHF10. Don't bring a car, subsidised parking was CHF23 for <24h.
Review 45:Good location (especially if you train in). Friendly front-of-house staff.
Review 46:The place was very hot and being on the first floor without air conditioning, it was virtually impossible to sleep. The beds were extremely soft, so this would not suit many people.
Review 47:It was close to the station The room was a good size.
Review 48:My room was on the front of the building and I found the road noise very loud, which caused a problem as the weather was extremely hot and the room was very uncomfortable because of the temperature - hotel had provided a fan but it only blew hot air around. - Consideration for air conditioning if facilities are upgraded. Breakfast was basic
Review 49:Room was spacious, clean & comfortable. Bathroom was a bit dated but perfectly fine. Staff were friendly
Review 50:Paying 10 CHF/day for WiFi seems a bit pricey (especially that WiFi is not that uncommon in a hotel ;). The bed was too soft and the room facing the street is really noisy (espacially that there is no air condition and the window stays open all the time in the summer)
Review 51:Great location (close to both railway and bus station), very clean, very friendly staff.
Review 52:The hand shower was extemely annoying. Water was really hard to set to a proper temperature. For the price, there are some better options.
Review 53:Staff were really nice and helpful. The location was good. WiFi was fine. The room was clean.
Review 54:I asked the lady in the front desk when I was checking out, can I pay for us dollar, she said yes and she told how much its going to be in usd, so I payed, but after I relized when I checked the currency price in the internet I saw that she asked for extra with no reason.
Review 55:there is three employee they were helpful, at the front desk the woman with the glasses, and a man as well. and the lady in the breakfast.
Review 56:Nothing really - it's not a luxury hotel but it is clean and comfortable with everything you need
Review 57:2-minute walk to the train station Basic, but very clean Good value for money
Review 58:Lack of laundry facilities or service is a major problem for people who are travelling. It would be wonderful to have access to tea making facilities.
Review 59:Staff very helpful
Review 60:breakfast could be just a bit better but saying by trying hard to find something to critecize.
Review 61:Stayed few days before in a 4 star and it wasnt even close as good as Hotel Lido. Atencion was great, place great for valew and stars. Very clean... honestly didnt find anything wrong with it.
Review 62:The mattress was really uncomfortable. Very hard to sleep. I found that really unfair and I don't recommend anyone staying there. The shower was too small!
Review 63:Location
Review 64:No real lobby but did not need it.
Review 65:Very close to train station, buses & stores. Staff was excellent. Huge room & bathroom. Clean & big beds
Review 66:The bed....a bit low and also too soft for elder peoples spines.
Review 67:The location of the hotel, very convenient and at least a bit away from the Red District Area
Review 68:The shower place is a little bit narrow.
Review 69:I had a good rest at Hotel Lido. The front desk was so friendly even though I arrived at 01:00. All the facilities were good and the location is so closed to the main railway station. It is convenient to hang around in the city just by foot.
Review 70:The sheets are too thick. It's too cold without them and too hot with them. There were also ongoing renovations during the day next to the room I was staying. Not enough shampoo and body shampoo were provided.
Review 71:Location is perfect. Big clean bathroom.
Review 72:It's probably best to take breakfast early rather than late otherwise you may miss out on fresh croissants.
Review 73:Excellent location between the train station and lake. Cheap but very clean although dated it has a traditional charm.
Review 74:First of all, one personnel was not very helpful (maybe she has not very experienced) in the beginning. Not good explanations. Second, the third bed for child, (in fact it is not a bed, just a sofa), was very hard. They have declared that it is 130 cm in web site, but my child is 155 cm, so it is not comfortable. They rejected to change room, because of cleaning problem.
Review 75:Its location is good, it is in the central area and near the main bus and train/metro station of Geneva.
Review 76:I didn't realized that WiFi is paid. It should be free in these days. Next time I will look for a hotel with free WiFi. Breakfast was OK (ham, cheese and jam - No sausages or eggs).
Review 77:Room was very clean. Hotel is located near the lake/city center.
Review 78:I was asked to pay for wifi when I checked in . I have stayed here many times but have never paid as it was part of the package. The staff hen I checked in was rude and unpleasant.
Review 79:The location. Close to the train station, tram and bus stop.
Review 80:Everything is fine, only not so good is that there are no electronical heating pots that no hot drinking water available.
Review 81:The location is quite near with the train station, about 5 minutes walk. And also near with all the places of interests in Geneve. When checking in the reception people gave us card for taking the public transportation, and it's quite useful for both buses and ferries.
Review 82:Very expensive for what you get. Small tiny room with bed, that is all. Every day they start a fan in bathroom which makes noise until 9PM or 10PM. I asked them what is this and they said they fight humidity this way. So if you want to sleep before 10PM its impossible and the sound will wake you up at 8AM. I expected quiet place for 160 EUR per night but unfortunately it wasn't. Just a basic sleeping place.
Review 83:The location of the hotel is good. Many places to eat around, 100m away is big shopping mall with lots of prepared food (take away) and other things. Starbucks, McDonalds, Kebap, etc.
Review 84:A little expensive.
Review 85:The staf are very helpfull (Sebastien and Nelio), near of Main Rail Station, restaurants and the room is very quiet, good to sleep.
Review 86:If you are not a heavy sleeper it might be hard for you to sleep! I heard every noise of walking and talking from corridor and also upstairs. Also asking money for internet is really not okay in 2015.
Review 87:The location was good. Very close the train station and also lake side. You can go everywhere without using public transportation but they are also giving free tickets. Bed was okay and room was clean.
Review 88:The beds and the pillows are too soft to my liking. I need to fold the pillows to get to the right thickness. The bed will sunk which cause a backpain to me. Another thing, there was no aircondition in the room. So I was wondering how would someone stay in the room during Summer. Either than that, my stay was pleasant.
Review 89:The hotel was located in a strategic location which was very surrounded by shops and adjecent to Manor. The room was clean same went to the toilet. The hotel is also 5 mins walking to the train station which was very convenient for me to commute to other parts of the city.
Review 90:i cant say anithing that will be against the hotel (sorry)
Review 91:Most of all I enjoyed a very nice and kind attitude of the staff towards the people staying at the hotel.i really valued the place of the hotel and the convenuence of theaccomodation,
Review 92:The bathroom was not well equipped and the bath tub was too high and dangerous, especially for my elderly mother. The lights in the bedroom were not at all handy. I couldn't turn off my own bed lamp.
Review 93:Good location and breakfast. Very friendly staff and cleanliness.
Review 94:They should have included breakfast to increase value and provide a kettle to make some tea or coffee.
Review 95:Fantastic location and room was very warm as it was winter. The staff very warm
Review 96:We were a group of friends with a three person room. Two of the beds were excellent and very comfortable, unfortunately, the third bed was not a bed but a fold out sofa which was very hard. Customers should be made aware of this at the time of booking.
Review 97:Great location. Simple but very decent breakfast. Comfortable beds. Clean. Friendly front desk staff.
Review 98:Sink in bathroom had a crack in it which was working When you took a shower it creates a pool of water near toilet with no grid to get rid of the water WiFi IS chargeable to use and for people like me staying one night was fairly expensive but not too expensive if staying a while (should rethink chargeable rates) Sometimes can hear people above walking a little Digital TV was OK but could need updating as was in old 4:3 format so channels looked weird
Review 99:Hotel was in good location to transport links Room was very good to say it was a single, I got a room with a mini double bed which was brilliant Had room for storage as well as bag holder for you to pop bag on to and unpack Digital TV worked too & had some popular channels on there as well as local channels Staff were friendly, assisting where they could
Review 100:As it is an old building, some minor restorations need to be done. eg the shower tap of room 55 needs to be repaired. Some mornings the hot water for the shower was not sufficient A little background music during breakfast would create a nice athmosphere. But I will go there again as I enjoyed it!
Review 101:The room was on top floor almost like an attic. Wooden beams across the bed so literally had to crawl to one side. Also kept hitting my head on the beam. The toiletries and towels were not adequately replaced.
Review 102:Location. Convenience with tram bus and trains all very close. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 103:Virtually no public space. Busy street outside. Very dull room with dark grey, stained carpet.
Review 104:Central. Realistic price. Comfortable bed. Nice people.
Review 105:Since I was not in one of the renovated rooms - the furniture was rather old...
Review 106:Location is very good, staff is very nice and helpful, housekeeping does the work thoroughly.
Review 107:Some details in the bathroom where either missing or broken - the lavatory drainage had something inside (maybe grapes or alike) that made it difficult for water to go and the lid on that hole was missing. The base for shower handle is falling from the wall, screws need fixing. We felt that room cleaners were doing too much in terms of folding our clothes, small things, even cell phone chargers, they were simply touching everything - which was a bit annoying....it would be nice to have free wi-fi which should not be a problem these days.....
Review 108:I already answered all, but to emphasize - location is excellent and almost everything else was good, more or less. Staff at the reception was friendly and helpful (e.g. found for us train timetable for the airport and printed it for us) and answered patiently all our questions.
Review 109:One of the reception ladies is very rough and not sympathetic at all ! It seems like you are doing a favor for staying at their hotel. I felt very awkward when I arrived, to say the least. The street is very noise, but closing the window solves it. The problem might be in the summer because of the lack of air conditioner in the rooms.
Review 110:The location is a few minutes walking from the main train station.
Review 111:We had to pay for wifi and it's charged per device.
Review 112:The location is good and the price is very good for the room and the location (and breakfast was included).
Review 113:The hotel rooms surround the main staircase, which is in the middle of the building, making it incredibly loud at night. I thought my exhaustion from travel and sight-seeing would help me sleep, but I got the least sleep my entire trip at this hotel.
Review 114:Staff was amazing!! Can't say enough nice things about them. Very helpful and friendly, even in the early morning when we weren't the most pleasant people to be around. Room and bed were comfortable and spacious for two people. Really great location if you plan to walk most places around the city center. One block from train station. Great view onto the street below.
Review 115:At our arrival, the receptionist told us we would have had a special price for all covered parking in the town, thanks to the hotel's partnership (he also showed us the price table). Unluckly, our parking (5 min wolking from the hotel) wasn't part of the agreement, so we had to pay 60 CHF for less than 20 hours!!
Review 116:We were disappointed to find how shabby-looking the room was (even though it was clean) and how little effort seemed to have been made to add little touches that could have improved it. For example, although our bathroom was clean and spacious and there would have been plenty of room for a table or shelf, there was nowhere to put anything except on the floor. We were also shocked to discover how noisy the place was. We thought the double-glazing would make the roar of traffic bearable and that the roar would diminish at night-time but it didn't. We had to use earplugs in order to sleep. Maybe rooms away from the main street are quieter. But even if they are, this is not the hotel I would choose next time.
Review 117:There are four good things about this hotel: (a) its convenient location within walking distance to both the railway station and the lake, (b) good wifi connection, (c) comfy beds and (d) the helpful, friendly front desk staff.
Review 118:Great value 5for money and nothing more close to the center. 1 min walk from the central train station, 2 mins walk from the bridge on the lakeside, and the fastest wi fi ever.
Review 119:Got a triple room and the third bed was very uncomfortable and not big enough for an adult. The breakfast was not very fresh. I have stayed at other locations in Geneva and got better value.
Review 120:Location was good and central and there is always some one at the front desk.
Review 121:hotel facilities and amenities are very very old. Room furniture are too simple. Breakfast is the simplest, poorest and most boring breakfast I ever had during my stay in any hotel on this planet. I can't imagine that they called it breakfast.
Review 122:the location is great next to the major train station and in a walking distance to major bus routes. the staff was friendly and the neighborhood is quiet at night.
Review 123:No air conditioning and were not able to have window open on account of road noise Dated interior Shower bracket broken When booking Non Refundable option full payment is charged at time of booking
Review 124:Close proximity to lake and Railway Station Free city transport passes issued from most hotels
Review 125:The walls were quite thin and I could hear the person in the room next to me talking late at night. Also the fire alarm went off at 2.30am because someone was smoking in their room which disturbed all of the guests.
Review 126:Very good location and friendly staff. Room was well equipped and very clean. Breakfast was great!
Review 127:You either had the window open with all the noise coming in, or the window was closed and you couldn't breathe. It was hard to fall asleep before 2 to 3 AM. The room was otherwise adequate, but the hotel was kind of aging and dreary. Breakfast felt like eating in a boarding house from a few decades back.
Review 128:This hotel is very near the train station, so easy to access from the train or airport. It's close to shopping and dining. The room had a bath tub.
Review 129:- Room 12 is next to a kitchenette and therefore VERY noisy from 06:30 am until after breakfast time. - You could consider an extra pillow. Only one available
Review 130:The reception staff are WONDERFUL. The breakfast lady has a lovely smile.
Review 131:My only complaint was the shower curtain was dirty and needed proper washing or replacing. It was the kind of shower stall placed in a corner with and the curtain is pulled around to make a waterproof enclosure for the other two sides.
Review 132:Breakfast was just about fair (industrial reconstituted ham, croissants not very nice; but bread, cheese and jams were nice). For our second stay we opted out and went out for breakfast (the Cottage Cafe is lovely!). It can get a bit hot (no air conditioning) and a bit noisy on the street if you leave the windows open. The courtyard facing rooms are quiet.
Review 133:Perfect location near the station for our short stay with late arrivals and early departures. Perfectly fine and comfortable hotel for the price we paid in an expensive city like Geneva. Lovely helpful staff! I would definitely stay at the Lido again.
Review 134:The breakfast is very modest.
Review 135:Friendly staff, very-very helpful, treating guests as friends (like borrowing umbrella for you not to get up to the room when it suddenly started raining outside). The hotel is close to almost everything in Geneva.
Review 136:It was one of the cheapest hotels in the center of Geneva, but it was really great! The location is perfect: you are close to the lake, to the Office du Tourism, to the tram and bus stops. and to the restaurants. The staff were always smiling to us. The room was cleaned perfectly every day. Even though the wi-fi is not included in the price, you can access the free wi-fi of Geneva if you go closer to the lake.
Review 137:The bathroom sink was missing the drain plug. The attachment holding the shower head was just about ready to become detached from the wall. The handle to pull in order to get the water to come through the shower instead of the faucet was missing, which made it very difficult to make the shower work properly.
Review 138:The location was great. There was a parking garage nearby, so we put our car in there and walked and biked during our 2-day stay in Geneva. We were close to the lake, old city, and everything we wanted to see and do. It was GREAT having breakfast included in the price of the room. That was so very helpful. The room was larger than expected which was nice since there were 3 of us. The bed was comfortable.
Review 139:Poor ventilation in bathroom and hot in room large opening windows help but road traffic noise a problem when open
Review 140:Close to Railway station and short walk to the Paddle Steamer berth good for overnight stay Airport only ten minutes away by train with frequent service
Review 141:The price is way too high, and their daily charge for wi-fi is higher than what I pay per month at my home. we used the hotel because of the round trip air ticket to/from Geneva, so on the way back we tried another hotel, seemed better, the price was much less and the internet was working.
Review 142:Perfect location - close both to the Leman lake and the railway station. Very comfortable beds. Convenient and new bathroom. Very helpful staff. Overall, the area is very nice and central. Transportation cards.
