Reviews for The Dorchester - Dorchester Collection
Review 1:I was really looking forward to breakfast at this hotel as this is my favourite meal of the day. The breakfast was awful! The omelette was over cooked, even though we asked for it medium done, the sausages were hard and rubbery and there was not a good selection of bread, just cheap toast was offered. For a hotel of that calibre you would think that the breakfast would be first class. I stayed at the Corinthia in the summer and the breakfast there was outstanding. I was extremely disappointed with the breakfast at this hotel, very sub standard considering it's a five star hotel and the very high rates they charge.
Review 2:Lobby area is beautiful. It's nice just to sit and people watch. The staff are also excellent.
Review 3:They don't have any amenities like complementary tea, coffee, bath products. Too much expensive room rate. Too old-fashioned interior.
Review 4:Kind staff, classic and comfortable mood, good location.
Review 5:Room service was at best 3* / too many folks in trainers and jeans gave the feeling of a informal meeting place. Overall service was ok but compared to 2 other hotels we stayed at during our Xmas holidays the Dorchester doesn't come close.
Review 6:The promonade / China Tang
Review 7:All the restaurants were overbooked and only availability for Christmas lunch, for example, was at 16-30.... The Gym is really small and old-fashioned - and not in keeping with a top quality hotel. I have stayed at the Dorchester many times before and was most surprised to discover a really pungent smell of "take-out curry" permeating the whole of the fourth floor. This, however, was not the case on the floor below - but rather unpleasant and disappointing.
Review 8:Good location and glamorous setting. Very good range of high quality restaurants. Efficient service.
Review 9:Service not what I expect in a hotel of this calibre. One hour and three phone calls for bottled water replenishing & coffee mugs is one example.
Review 10:great location & lovely rooms
Review 11:NOTHING. IT WAS FABULOUS
Review 12:THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE AT THE DORCHESTER WAS MAGNIFICENT. THE HOTEL IS FIRST CLASS BUT THE STOUND OUT POSITIVE IS THE STAFF. I HAVE TRAVELLED THE WORLD AND STAYED AT MANY 5 STAR HOTELS. NOTHING COMES CLOSE TO THE LEVEL OF SERVICE THAT THE STAFF AT THE DORCHESTER PROVIDE. THEY ARE FRIENDLY, SCRUPULOUSLY POLITE AND KNOW HOW TO MAKE THEIR GUESTS WELCOME
Review 13:couldn't fault one bit about my experience in this hotel
Review 14:Beautiful hotel, best service and staff can't do enough for the children never let me down after many years of staying here
Review 15:The deposit was a lot! Gratitude (tip) is always expected -like many other places-, this annoys specially when a service charge is added to the bill!
Review 16:Everything.
Review 17:Checking time not as good as it was befor Also the didn't change the complenty frouit even one I ask them which make the serves not as The Dorchester
Review 18:The Dorchester one of the best hotel in world and this is not my first time I stay in it but this last was not as I expected
Review 19:Nothing.
Review 20:The whole experience. The staff were absolutely wonderful, ready to help at the drop of a hat and the room was beautiful. We also had a fabulous meal in the Grill restaurant.
Review 21:The layout of the ground floor of the hotel was not very welcoming at all people having afternoon tea in the main area ie the street/ avenue completely inappropriate along with those people who are accessing the Chinese restaurant attached to the hotel not great for guests, inability as a guest to Get a table at the bar or sit at a table due to protocol ie reserved for those eating due to the number of reserved tables
Review 22:The location for our trip was ideal The breakfast was excellent lovely room and menu choice
Review 23:They charged me £ 540 extra by mistake. they did apologized and said they will return it to my credit card after 6 days . A hotel like Dorchester should not make a mistake like this .
Review 24:The staff in the last day my driver came and 3 of thier staff was arguing with him that you should move where is your clinet, you are not suppose to stop her..etc..that make me angry in the last day of my stay. That not supposed to happened for 5 star hotel.
Review 25:The luxury of the hotel
Review 26:In room dining services needs improvement.
Review 27:The Reception and Concierge Staff is very helpful and friendly. but in room dining services needs improvement.
Review 28:Wish I didn't have to leave :-(
Review 29:Simply the most exclusive and best hotel in London. Great to see that the rooms are no longer dated. Amazing food, amazing location. Amazing concierge service! Pure luxury
Review 30:One of the best hotel ive ever been. There is nothing to tell just perfect. Personal of the hotel the best. I would recomend this hotel if some one is going to London. Thanks for your job.
Review 31:The staff. There was a lot of noise from my room and no body care about it. I asked them to change the room but they told me that the hotel is fully booked. For check out they call me 3 times to leave the room at 12 and they didnt allow me to stay one more houre to back my laugage altough i couldnt sleep becouse of their noisy room
Review 32:The concierge
Review 33:Wifi was horrible although I paid the relevant charges, it was still very bad
Review 34:Everything was great: Staff were super friendly Rooms were clean Bathroom was nice & clean Bed was very comfy Housekeeping was prompt Room Service at its best Gym was great
Review 35:Quite simply in a class of its own and the best place we have ever stayed at. We couldn't fault a single thing. The most fantastic weekend possible at the finest hotel. Should be a 6 star!
Review 36:A few problems with the electronics - the kettle wasn't working and the TV in the bathroom couldn't be switched off - however all remedied in a timely fashion.
Review 37:We stayed here to celebrate my wife's 30th birthday. Pleasantly surprised at check in to be upgraded to the Dorchester Suite. The suite was stunning - vintage decor, luxuriously furnished with ample space. An extremely memorable stay!
Review 38:The shower in the bathroom had an issue with drainage and the water stayed in the shower try for a long time. The TV control was very complicated.
Review 39:Loved the door, old world elegance, understated luxury, the bedding was extremely comfortable. The furnishings and furniture were excellent. The staff at reception were outstanding as were the doormen and concierge.
Review 40:Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, even though it was after 4pm, and we were given a lovely room but on the second floor at the front of the hotel. We didn't realise until we went to bed how noisy it was going to be. I had requested a room on a higher floor. It was too much of a hassle to change rooms but I will make sure we are somewhere quieter next time.
Review 41:Our waiter at breakfast was excellent and the food cooked and presented beautifully. On our first evening we ate in the restaurant and the meal was delicious.
Review 42:No bad experience. Just disappointed the bartender was in able to produce a cocktail flexible to request, as opposed to me having to choose from a proprietary "list".
Review 43:The breakfast was outstanding. I asked for lemon and ginger tea and it was freshly grated ginger and freshly squeezed lemon - not a tea bag! Everything was fresh and delicious and the service that went with it was beyond excellent - all members of staff are delightfully friendly and very pleasant. Everywhere smells lovely, and feels very sumptuously homely without overawing. The flower arrangements 'are' awesome - (which probably accounts for the wonderful smell everywhere!) Beds and pillows were wonderfully comfortable - couldn't fault the place - it was a delight to stay there.
Review 44:Last day I had a free hour before the pick up to the airport. I chose to sit in the promenade cafe. Apparently the waitress decided I was not worthy of service since I was not a guest anymore at the hotel. She was extremely rude, and they kept me waiting for 25 minutes before someone bothered to take my order. So I ended up eating so quickly that it was ridiculous. It was a very bad end to what was otherwise a lovely stay. Shame really.
Review 45:Loved the room, and the facilities overall. The location is excellent.
Review 46:China tang restaurant , food was good , but plates were cold , so by the time we finished our food , it was cold Also , our table was only 9 inches away from the next one , where people were sitting , and had to move across so my partner could get in ( and he is skinny !!)
Review 47:Bedrooms adequate , we had the cheapest one All staff are great , attention to detail , and treated like royalty Breakfast was delicious and we'll worth the money we paid
Review 48:We must have arrived during a staff training day as there was a constant stream of groups of a dozen or more young trainees. Whilst we appreciate this has to be done, it was too much on this occasion and was too obtrusive
Review 49:Comfortable beds and bedclothes
Review 50:Not as I expected.. Poor dry cleaning service, house keeping is not if a five stars hotels, sound polluted due to some constructional work...
Review 51:Cleanliness, friendly staff, facilities and location...
Review 52:Superb hotel in one of the best locations. The staff looked after us from arrival to departure and nothing was too much trouble. I couldn't recommend more highly and we will definitely stay again in the future.
Review 53:Staff were amazing. Nothing too much hassle to them. Loved the fact that we didnt have to get up early for breakfast but could relax and have it later.
Review 54:Absolutely nothing apart from not being able to stay for longer.
Review 55:We visit the Dorchester a few times per year and the experience is unreal. Staff go out of their way to help you, the food in the grill is to die for and the hotel itself is magical. From the flowers on the promenade, to the marbel bathrooms in every room it oozes class, comfort and perfection. On our recent visit we were upgraded to a park lane suite simply because it was my partners birthday. Amazing.
Review 56:Wifi did not work well. Accessories in the room were not stocked up daily which, for the daily room rate, was disappointing.
Review 57:Lovely Hotel. Looks lovely with a great vibe about it. Location is excellent. Rooms are nice, old English style but nice.
Review 58:See above
Review 59:Didn't like all the spying afternoon tea customers in main lounge area / if you want to invite extra income please put them in a different area to paying guests!!
Review 60:Nothing
Review 61:Beautiful hotel right by winter wonder land Stayed for our anniversary Arrived back at night to a anniversary cake from the hotel My wife and I loved it
Review 62:The gym is small and ussualy busy
Review 63:The staff were friendly with children the service is amazing. The food is amazing and the rooms are big compared to other hotels in london
Review 64:Total fabulosity - we have found our new annual pre Christmas retreat - loved everything about it. The staff were equally amazing. We were made to feel very special. Thank you to everyone at The Dorchester for making sure we had such a memorable first time experience with you.our first of many, we hope
Review 65:The service made me and friends wait for 1hour we paid the rooms everything and they came back Said no due to card issues we arranged to pay cash so they counted it took another 30 min and then came back Said not tonight
Review 66:Did like the Decor
Review 67:The only thing which just being picky is that when we was trying to sleep we could hear the music from downstairs so we could sleep until 1am due to noise but it wasn't a big drama.
Review 68:Everything
Review 69:Public wifi was very slow and unstable. Tap water is soapy, difficult to wash the skin up.
Review 70:Perfect and very helpful staff, excellent location, exceptional restaurants right in there. Ideal for romantic trip to London even with business intentions. Quite worm reminiscences.
Review 71:from the moment we arrived we were made to feel special what wee wanted mattered we spent a wonderful weekend with fabulous food and the management left my husband a chocolate cake with happy birthday on it in our while we were out to lunch could not have made him feel more special . thank you to the dorchester staff wonderful
Review 72:This hotel is didn't gave me a complete information about their policy of interning the looby, I wanted to have a cup of tea, but they refuse to let me inter because I was wearing a casual sport shoe, at 10pm, saying it is a new policy, please give me this information in e.booking so that we be able to prepare our self's before booking, I booked for one knight only, and they refused to give me a cup of tea even that the looby is reserved only to hotel resedant after 10 pm.
Review 73:The house I related was very near to Qatar embassy.
Review 74:the bed was so soof and small. lobby we tried to book and set for tea never i got that change. Always full and i didnt see any preferance for the guest staying in the hotel. I feel it more about you know someone to get the place in lobby because almost same people were setting there everyday.
Review 75:the location, stuff and cleanliness was perfact.
Review 76:The price of the food. for what we had it was 50% over priced. i know we do not go to this standard of hotel very often but the food was ok but not worth £200+ for dinner with only one glass of wine (the waitress told us she was out of what my husband had chosen so could not have a second glass thank good ness)
Review 77:Bed rooms very comfortable, bathroom also very well appointed never been in such a big bath . Flowers in the hotel are worth going in to have a look at. All the staff could not have been more helpful.
Review 78:A bit of too much time (given the fact I was away in hospital all day) to keep my wife waiting for some 4 plus hours when she was very anxious.
Review 79:Amazinlg in every respect.
Review 80:The rooms should be equipped up to date facilities and comfort tools. The elevators should be renewed. The sound of the air conditioner is annoying.
Review 81:The location is good, staff members are friendly and helpful, room's cleanliness is good, the bathroom is clean and with suitable size.
Review 82:too expensive, everything counts money. would be nice if you have some nespresso and kettle for tea. Dining facilities were not good. would be nice if there had been an ironing board and iron. quality/speed of "free of charge" wireless was very bad. you force people to spend while already you receive almost 750 Euro / night
Review 83:room size
Review 84:There is no joint men's and ladies' sauna, which was a little disappointing.
Review 85:The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The room and facilities are of exceptional quality and more than comfortable.
Review 86:The staff in the lobby was not pro, comparing with plaza athennee, big different i stayed there and they made me feel like princes .. The concierge and reception was great
Review 87:I've tried all the hotels in london, but as room it was the best for me, even size was not that small, will come back sure.
Review 88:The Price has gone beyond the Service , There is no Resident Lounge so your confined to your Room

Review 96:Checking in has always been delayed. Standard Check in times should not be after 3pm
Review 97:Classical English interiors
Review 98:perfect location. personal service like that you would expect from a small boutique hotel but on a grand scale.
